Now let’s get on with the show.

We start with Star Trek news.

Star Trek Discovery is winding down for the season and at a panel at WonderCon this past weekend in Anaheim, California. They had a “Star Trek: Discovery Inside the Visual Effects” panel. On the dias was director and executive producer Olatunde Osunsanmi, visual effects supervisors Jason Zimmerman and Ante Dekovic, and previsualization supervisor Stephen Pavelski. They talked about the challenges they faced this season such as the red angel which according to Osunsanmi  quote The Red Angel took so many different departments to pull together correctly with costume and props. For VFX, from when Alex [Kurtzman] first came up with the idea and it was an 18-week build to build it. And the VFX has to build a full CG character of that. We have to make sure it fits on the character it has to go on. And then the VFX has to make sure it does all these wondrous things it has to do and make it look real, and legit. I think that—at least for us on the production side—took the most time. I can remember a lot of 1:00 AM phone calls with [Jason Zimmerman]. Unquote

Also discussed was the challenging asteroid sequence in the season premiere, apparently it was Alex Kurtzman’s idea and that the started on it during the finish up on season one. And even though it was a huge effort  Zimmerman joked quote

We did that asteroid sequence and it was a massive CG undertaking, and I think Alex’s favorite thing was probably making Linus blink. He laughs every time. Unquote

They also discussed how they tried to make sure the effects didn’t over shine the story. Jason Zimmerman said quote Obviously it is served by technology, which is blisteringly fast. So, we are going to continue to grow and be able to do better versions of CG people where you are not going to be able to tell at some point. But, the one thing we can’t do with visual effects is write the story and make the story. So, it is still our job – regardless of how flashy we can get – that we have to tell the story. That is why we have to work with production and everyone else. We can make some really flashy stuff, but if at the end of the day it doesn’t tell a Star Trek story, then it doesn’t do anybody good. Space Jam 2…you don’t know how much I wanna walk away right there, has added Sonequa Martin Green to the cast. She will be playing Lebron James wife. Not much is known about the movie, but it’s expected that Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and Giannis Antetokounmpo will be teaming up with the Loney Toons against something. The film will be directed by Terence Nance, and produced by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. And will be out in July of 2021.

Star Trek fans in Ireland want to look up to Chief Miles O’Brien. Alex Smyth of Dublin has launched a petition to put a statue of the Deep Space Nine Chief of Operations somewhere in the city of Dublin. Miles O’Brien was first introduced as a recurring character on Star Trek the Next Generation back in season one of the show, He eventually got a name, a wife and a new job on Star Trek Deep Space Nine. Where he usually found himselfs being tortured in one way or another. The petition on ipetitions dot come already has 2,445 signatures. If you’d like to sign, we will have a link to it in our show notes. https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/build-a-statue-of-star-treks-chief-miles-obrien

Dayton Ward interview

Star Wars

We start Star Wars news with new about Star Wars: The Mandalorian, the series that will air on Disney plus has wrapped production and according to a Lucasfilm source to HN Entertainment, a second season is already looking pretty likely.

The series is being showrun by Jon Favreau and stars Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian. It’s expected to debut in the fall when Disney Plus does.

Werner Herzog has revealed a little more about his new role in The Mandalorian. The Filmmaker and actor revealed to Indiewire that quote “Now this is not a secret anymore, a small part, real small part, in The Mandalorian, the Star Wars sequel or whatever you call it. I like to do it because I know I’m good on screen, but only if I have to play a real villain,”

Star Wars Celebration isa few days away and Star Wars dot com has gotten a glimpse of a massive mural that will be unveiled at the fan fest.  The mural from artists Doug Chiang and Jason Palmer will feature images from Episodes 1 through 9, the spinoff films and animated series Doug Chiang told Star Wars dot com that I wanted the scale to be theatrical,” “I felt it was important to make the mural as large as possible to mirror the cinematic experience. At 10-feet-tall and 88-feet-long, it’ll be unlike anything we’ve done before.” The idea according to Chiang came from Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy saying that quote “She asked if we could create a piece of art that would encapsulate the entire Star Wars saga, visually representing the complete stories of Star Wars through art.

Star Wars Celebration begins on April eleventh. For news from their check out Scifi4me’s Salacious Crumbs. They’ll have their host Mackenna their for the event.

Keri Russell dropped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and did reveal that she has quote the coolest unquote costume in the film. Keeping silent has been difficult for her and her son was the first to know that she got the job quote “I got off the phone and I was like, ‘Hahaha, wait. River’ — my 11-year-old — ‘You can’t tell any of your friends, but I’m doing a really cool project. It’s Star Wars,'” Unquote Asked if she has an idea of what the title is, she said that she had no idea.

Marvel News

One last cameo. That’s apparently all that’s left for Stan Lee according to Director Joe russo,Stan did record several cameos prior to his passing. According to Joe Russo promoting Endgame in India said quote “I believe that his final cameo is in Endgame. I don’t remember if he was well enough to do the cameo in Spider-Man [Far From Home],” “But it was incredible to work with him.”, “I grew up on his comic books. Stan Lee was an idol of mine as a kid. To be able to have the opportunity to not only to work under the material he created but to work with him is a childhood dream come true.”  Stan has appeared in all 21 Marvel Studios productions.

Now Stan not only did cameos in the Marvel Studios Produced films, but also in those produced by other studios, including Fox. So an appearance by Stan in the latest X-Men film Dark Phoenix was expected, but in an interview with Cinemablend, X-Men producer Hutch Parker and director Simon Kinberg they confirmed that no cameo will be in the movie. The revealed that instead they will have a tribute to him in the film. Quote “We do have some tribute to him, and it’s something that obviously we weren’t thinking about when we were making the movie because he was still very much alive,” “And he’s been such a huge part of making these films over the years. He’s had cameos; he’s had input into the process of making them.”

And speaking of Dark Phoenix, Alexandra Shipp, who plays Storm says that the film has a different tone from previous installments. Speaking with comicbook dot com at Wondercon Shipp said quote “I love the fashion of it, I love the colors.” “When we first started Apocalypse, it was like walking onto a comic book. You felt like you were walking into a comic book, and what I love about Dark Phoenix is that, it is way more gritty. I think it affects you in a way more visceral way because it’s not a comic vibe. It’s very real, it’s very raw, and it was scary at times. It’s scary to think that someone you love is losing their mind.” According to Hutch Parker talking with comicbook.com, this change of tone was Simon Kinberg decision. Quote“I mean the decision here, it was really Simon [Kinberg]’s decision was to tell the Dark Phoenix story but really tell it as Jean’s story. So that was first and foremost. So it’s a much more thorough investigation of that saga of the story at that heart of the saga and much truer to Jean as a character. I think you’re right that one of the challenges was how do we balance what is in the comics in the galactic and intergalactic nature of that storyline with wanting to stay more Earth centric. And you know, we obviously made the decision to include some of that, but to keep it rooted in and around the characters we’ve come to know and love within the X-Men.”Unquote  Dark Phoenix will arrive in theaters on June 7th.

Marvel’s Black Panther has racked up some more awards, this time at the NAACP Image Awards. Black Panther racked up the awards for Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a motion picture , Outstanding Motion Picture and Chadwick Boseman won Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture, while Michael B Jordan walked away with Outstanding Supporting Actor. Danai Gurira won Outstanding Supporting Actress and Letitia Wright got Outstanding Breakthrough Performance in a motion picture. Ryan Coogler was awarded the award for Outstanding Directing in a Motion Picture. And Coogler and Joe Robert Cole got Outstanding writing in a motion picture. The soundtrack also got some love, Kendrick Lamar was awarded Outstanding Soundtrack/Compilation and Lamar and SZA won Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration for All The Stars.

Well one of the highlights of my trip to Planet Comicon was a visit to the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to see Captain Marvel. Well your welcome Marvel. I just contributed to Captain Marvel breaking the 1 billion dollar mark at the global box office. In the US, the film has made about 360 million and the overseas take comes out to just over 645 million. Bringing the worldwide total to one billion four million plus dollars. That’s an awesome amount for 4 weeks.

So you’ve probably got your tickets for Avengers: Endgame, I hope you picked a theater with comfortable seats cause you’re gonna be in them for awhile. The movie runs just over three hours and Co-director Joe Russo addressed the length during an interview with Box Office Pro quote “We’re still looking at a similar time [approximately three hours]. This one’s been very specific in its run time. It really hasn’t changed since we executed the first cut of the film,” “Even though we’ve shot a lot of footage between now and then, we’ve swapped things out and the water keeps rising to the same level because the story’s so dense. We have so many characters that we’re working with again that require that kind of run time.” unquote In other words, when you have a dozen or more characters that all need screen time, you’re length is gonna get long.

We know have a definitive idea of who was dusted after the Snap in Infinity War. Marvel released a series of posters featuring characters that survived and didn’t. Among the survivors  when Endgame picks up are Iron Man , Black Widow , Captain Marvel , Happy Hogan , Wong, Okoye , Ant-Man, Nebula, Rocket Raccoon , Hawkeye , Pepper Potts, Bruce Banner , Captain America , Thor, and War Machine . Among the Fallen are Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch , Gamora, Mantis, Loki, Nick Fury, Vision , Bucky Barnes , Drax), Falcon , Groot, Wasp , Shuri, Spider-Man , and Star-Lord . So plan your movie cosplay accordingly.

Well out with the old and in with the new members of the MCU. It looks like Angelina Jolie might be showing up in the next phase of Marvel movie. The actress is in negotiation to star in The Eternals. The Eternals were created by Jack Kirby and has an expansive story that covers thousands of MCU galactic history. The film will be directed by Chloe Zhao. No word on what part Jolie is going for. It could be either Sersi, thena or Elysisus, but it is expected to hit screens sometime in 2020.

The Hollywood reporter also reports that Kumail Nanjiani is also in talks to join The Eternals.

Season two of Cloak and Dagger returns to Freeform this month and they’ll be a time jump from where the characters were in the first season. Season two starts eight months later after ty was forced to be on the run, hiding out in an abandoned church. . In an interview with CBR star Aubrey Joseph said quote With Season 1, we literally watched them figure out how to maneuver with these powers. So Season 2, from the jump, you see them become these badass superheroes, you know? It still takes time, obviously. They’re young and they are still learning, but — specifically for Ty — eight months in a church by yourself, it’s a lot of time on your hands to practice your powers, obviously. So I think it will be worth the wait, to see that. Unquote. This is also handy as we get the see Cloak and Daggers powers expanded.

And just when you thought Agents of Shields seventh season was it’s last…maybe think again. Jeph Loeb in a panel at Wonder Con said that quote “By the time you get to May 10th you will have nothing better to do than to watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. knowing how the Avengers story ended in Endgame. So that should tell you, particularly when you saw today the One Year Later.” Co-showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen explained,“We’re not ending” in response to season 7 being the show’s last. “We always think we’re going to end each season and being renewed is a bonus each year.”  So do you think this will be the end?

DC News

It’s been over a year and a half since Justice League came out. You might remember that during reshoots, Henry Cavill was in the midst of shooting the new Mission Impossible movie and sporting a mustache. In order to cover up Superman’s unexpected lip hair, the production had to go to lengths to cover it up causing the fakest looking upper lip area ever. Now ReelAnarchy has debuted a photo from the set showing Cavill sporting the mustache. Frankly, I think they shouldn’t have removed it, they should have added a beard. It would have made more sense with the “Death of Superman” sort of story they were trying to tell. https://twitter.com/Pop_Cult_Pod/status/1112850011983888384/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1112850011983888384&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fcomicbook.com%2Fdc%2F2019%2F04%2F01%2Fjustice-league-movie-2017-superman-mustache-reshoots-henry-cavill%2F

Back in 2009, The Dark Knight was not nominated for The Best Picture Oscar. This has been seen by some as one of the greatest snubs in awards history. However it’s snubbing encouraged the Academy to widen the field the next year to 10.  At a Q&A session following an IMAX screening of The Dark Knight on March 30th in LA in honor of Batman’s 80th Anniversary. When asked about it, Nolan responded with quote “Yeah, which is a kind of cool consolation prize, I guess,” The IMAX screening tour will continue this month with screenings in New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Indianapolis.

We keep getting new information about James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, and it looks like Jai Courtney will be returning to the role of Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie will be back as Harley Quinn and Viola Davis will be back as Amanda Waller. We also have word from Variety that Idris Elba will be playing  a new character that will be replacing Deadshot. For a film that’s not a sequel, it sure seems like a sequel and not a reboot.

80 years of DC Comics will now be at your fingertips as DC Comics will be releasing their creative output in a new feature to the DC Universe streaming service. DC universe senior Vice President and General Manager Sam Ades said at Wondercon quote “From the time DC Universe launched last year, our fans have loved the comic experience and have asked us for just one thing – more! The expansion to thousands of titles in January 2019 was a first step in our goal to deliver on that request, to provide DC Universe members full access to the pantheon of DC’s epic Super Hero stories,” “We’re thrilled to respond to our fans yet again with the incredible value of the ultimate DC digital comics library.” The service costs $7.99 a month. With all the new shows their adding, this service is looking better all the time.

The premiere of Swamp Thing has been announced, the new series made for the DC Universe service will debut on May 31st.  Here’s a synopsis:When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all. The series stars Jennifer Beals, Andy Bean, Virginia Madsen, and more.

Speaking of Swamp Thing, here’s a little trivia for you Constantine first appeared in The Saga of Swamp Thing #37 back in 1985. Well actor Matt Ryan has revealed that he wants John Constantine to show up in the new series. Ryan commented on this during a panel at Wizard World Cleveland saying quote “John Constantine was born in Swamp Thing. Eventually, he has to be on Swamp Thing, and I just hope it’s me”

Staying with DC Universe news, an image has surfaced of star Brec Bassinger as Stargirl, this looks to be a costume similar to the one the character wears in the comic, Brec is shown holding the Star Rod as well. And you can see Stripes leg in the background behind her. The new series should be out in 2020. https://twitter.com/TheDCUniverse/status/1111798952985137152/photo/1

So how did the other Captain Marvel, Shazam! Do at the box office this week? For opening weekend, it made 56.8 million in the United States and on the foreign box ofice it made 102. 3 million for a worldwide box office total of 159,130,326. I opened at number one. Pretty good for the big red cheese.

Arrow’s next season will be it’s last and Arrow star Emily Bett Rickards has announced her departure from the series prior to this next last season. Rickards plays Felicity Smoak, a role that debuted in 2012. She made the announcement in a letter on Instagram quote “The time has come to talk of many memes. Of bows and arrows and superheroes and Olicity and Queens

And why TGA is so damn hot

And yes, canaries need more scenes… But wait just one minute

before we go and do all that

For this makes me out of breath

To have this not small chat

Felicity and I

are a very tight two

But after one through seven

we will be saying goodbye to you

I thank you all for the time we’ve shared

The elevators we have climbed

The monsters we have faced and scared

And The burgers we have dined

I will keep her in my heart for always

And I hope that you can too

Because she would not be alive if it weren’t for all of you

Love,

Felicity and Me”

We wish her well in her future endeavors.

Mark Hamill is a man of many voices. Now he lends his vocal talents to the killer doll Chucky in the new reboot of Child’s Play. He announced it on twitter quote “People let me tell you ’bout my best friend…”🎶

The wicked fun begins when @ChildsPlayMovie is unleashed in theaters: Friday, June 21st 2019. #SoLuckyImChucky 🤪  Unquote Original Child’s Play director Tom Holland tweeted back quote Smart move. With a thumbs up emoji. Unquote.

The Big Bang Theory is almost done and one mystery apparently will never be answered. Penny’s maiden name. That’s right in twelve years of episodes her last name has never been seen or uttered. Executive Producer told The Hollywood Reporter quote “[Eventually] we got nervous and superstitious about giving her one,”“[I]t will always be Hofstadter.” Unquote So I guess we will never know. Perhaps it was Blank.

The Directors of the new Pet Sematary remake really wish the trailers and commercial  hadn’t spoiled so much. Especially the death of the daughter Ellie. However they did defend the trailer and even pointed out a benefit in an interview with Collider Dennis Widmyer said quote Yeah, we would not have done that, but we don’t work in marketing. But I will say though, to their credit, that we tested the film in a bunch of different cities, as you always do with studio films, and our score went up after the trailer was revealed. I’m not saying it was because of that. We had made the movie better obviously in between, but I don’t know. There is something to be said about people sort of knowing going in already what to expect and then being ready for it rather than blindsided by it if they’re not into it. Unquote Pet Sematary come to theaters on April 5th.

Pet Sematary producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura speaking with Consequence of Sound said that a sequel is possible, but thinks that it should be a prequel instead quote

“I think if there’s anything here, there’s a prequel. I think if you look at the book, we didn’t cover all that stuff that happens before the Creed family moves in. So, I think there’s a movie there, and I think I’d be particularly interested in doing that, because, again, it’s the source material and you are going toward something that also has a lot of crazy, creepy feelings about it.”

So, would you rather see a sequel or a prequel or neither?

Screen Rant has confirmed that Netflix has renewed The Umbrella Academy for season two. Production is expected to be underway from May 2019 through to September 2019. And no words on plot or release date have been forthcoming, so watch this space.

Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley has confirmed that the late Don Rickles will still voice Mr. Potato Head. Don passed away two years ago this month at the age of 90, not having recorded any new dialogue for the sequel.  In a tweet Josh Cooley said quote “Some people say funny things, I say things funny.” -Don Rickles

All of his pieces may be replaceable, but his voice is not. Honored he signed on for TS4, honored he’s in TS4. unquote

There has been no elaboration on how his voice will be in the movie, however it’s more than likely that they will use vocal performances that were not used from the past 3 movies and he will just be around, but not integral to the plot in anyway.

Now let’s get on with the show.

Star Wars news begins with a lot of peaks at the Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World and Disney Land. The DisneyLand version will open on May 31st, while the Disney World version will open on August 29th.

First off, is the new Tie Fighters https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsLeaks/comments/avw1wz/tie_echelon_from_galaxys_edge_and_maybe_ix/?utm_content=media&utm_medium=post_embed&utm_name=2de182e27dc54057950d572ea822c0c1&utm_source=embedly&utm_term=avw1wz The TIE Echelon, which was confirmed by ABC News’s Clayton Sandall, will  appear in an upcoming movie, but nothing concrete on if it’ll be in Episode Nine. Sandall described quote It combines, if you could imagine Kylo’s shuttle kind of shrunken down into a TIE fighter look.” unquote We have also learned that the battalion of First Order Stormtroopers patrolling the park will be The 709th, aka The red Fury. Entertainment Weekly noted quote “This elite squad from The First Order has arrived on a new ship — the TIE Echelon, which has a cockpit similar to Kylo Ren’s batwinged shuttle but the curved foils of Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced x1.”

So while you’re at Disneyland or Disney World checking out the new Tie fighter and evading the Stormtroopers, why not sit down for a tall glass of Blue Bantha Milk. Blue Milk is, of course, what was served to Luke by his Aunt Beru in his last meal before his Aunt and Uncle met their grisly fates. Scott Trowbridge, the Disney Imagineer in charge of galaxy’s edge shared with Entertainment Weekly, quote  “I will tell you it’s not actually milk,”“If you’re walking around Florida in the middle of August, the last thing you want is, uh, a huge glass of milk.” He might be right, you might end up with a cold glass of Blue Cottage Cheese or worse. Perhaps they should make some cheese so you can have a Bantha Cheese pizza. Wonder if there’s an alchol filled version…a Blue Russian?

So you’ve had the milk, now what. We have word or two on the major attractions at Galaxy’s Edge. First off is Smuggler’s Run, which puts guests in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon has either a pilot, gunner or flight engineer, each with a different role, so you can have a different experience every time you ride.

Also you have Rise of the Resistance, that puts you in the role of a new recruit with the Resistance in a battle against the First Order and a face off with Kylo Ren. The journey takes you inside a full size starship and aboard a nearby Star Destroyer.

And of course you’re visit is not complete unless you empty your wallet of Galactic credits. The Droid Depot will let guests build their own astromech droids. Patrons will build either a R-series or BB series and can customize their droids with various parts and colors. You can also buy a pre-built droid and other droid related items.

You can also visit Savi’s Workshop to make your own lightsaber, Just cause the Jedi’s are no more doesn’t mean you can have a light sword of your own. There’s also a Toydarian Toymaker, the Resistance Supply for all your resistance gear, the First Order Cargo for your First Order gear. And much much more.

I’ll have a link in the show notes for an article at Comicbook.com with a list of all the locations at the park.

A leaked lego set might just have confirmed a return to Rey’s home planet of Jakku An Instargamer by the name of savcreationsog claims that a set titled Assault on Jakku will sell for nearly fifty dollars and contain 399 pieces. No images of the set and for all we know this might be a complete fabrication. However, it must be noted that Episode IX did have principal photography that took place in Jordan, where Jakku was filmed in The Force Awakens, so….connect your own dots or bricks.

Chris Avellone, the writer of Star Wars Knights of the Old republic II and Fallout New Vegas is apparently working on a new Star Wars game,  Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order for Respawn. The games writer took to Twitter and confirmed it quote “I can’t say 100% b/c of NDAs, but the ones I can say: I just finished up work with Jedi: The Fallen Order – and beyond that, there’s another big bomb dropping in a month,”. “Er, I mean, maybe. Ahem

Jedi Fallen Order is A new action adventure game which tells an original story set shortly after the events of Star Wars™: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith™.

Currently, to watch all 10 films in the Star Wars saga, one would have to watch around 23 hours of film. Lucky for us, Topher Grace and Jeff Yorkes have condensed that down into one five minute video entitled Star Wars forever. Topher announced the compilation on his twitter quote “10 movies. 2 nerds. 1 weekend (when our wives were out of town). Enjoy…” The video boils it down to the key or iconic moments in the movies. This isn’t the first time Topher has taking a knife to Star Wars, back in 2012, he whittled down the prequel trilogy down to a single film. Topher said that it wasn’t a way to discredit George Lucas’ it was just an experiment to hone his editing skills. Topher told IndieWire why he did it. Quote“I don’t know what other guys do. Go fishing? For me, this is just a great way to relax,” “There’s something really zen about it.” So is there something you’d like to edit down into a smaller package?

Star Wars Celebration is just around the corner and our friends over at SciFi4Me will have a correspondent at the event. And Jedi News has revealed some of the exclusive merchandise that will be offered at the event. First on the list is Plush Loth-Wolves in white or grey from Star Wars Rebels. There’s also a Rancor tiki mug with a Luke Skywalker muglet by Geeky Tiki, a special Celebration mug with an adorable Porg surprise inside. And a Darth Maul jacket to honor the 20th anniversary of The Phantom Menace.  Twenty years since the Phantom Menace. I guess it’s time to fire up the Bluray and see if it holds up.

Star Trek

So many Trek series, so little time…Let’s start off with The Picard show is on a hiring first off is the initial director for the pilot episode, That honor goes to Hanelle Culpepper. Hanelle might be relatively new to trek having only directed two episodes of Discovery, but she has quote the directoral pedigree. She has directed for Empire Criminal Minds, Sleepy Hollow, Grimm, Gotham, Lucifer and The Flash. This will also make her the first female director to helm a pilot episode for the franchise. We also have word straight from the mouth of Trek Alum Jonathan Frakes that he will direct  the new series. Telling the Writer Experience Podcast quote Now my season looks like Star Trek: Discovery – the new wonderful Star Trek series, the Picard show – which Patrick [Stewart] is launching, and The Orville, which is some people’s new Star Trek. And I just finished The Gifted, which is a sort of X-Men Marvel origins show. So, I am back in that world. Unquote

In front of the camera we will see, Santiago Cabrera and Michelle Hurd, Cabrera has recently starred in the CBS series Salvation and Big Little Lies on HBO and Hurd’s credits include Blind Spot, the Fox tv version of Lethal Weapon as well as Ash vs Evil Dead, Daredevil and Jessica Jones. No word on what roles either actor will be in the series.

We got some new details about when production will begin. Production Weekly Said that production will begin on April 14th and go for five and a half months finishing on October 1st. The show will be shot at Santa Clarita Studios, 35 miles north of the old Paramount Studios where most Star trek series were produced. This is also the studio where Patrick Stewart filmed his two season Starz comedy series Blunt Talk.

We also have a hint at the series title, Production Weekly lists the title as Star Trek Destiny with a working title as Drawing Room. It should be noted that Destiny is one of the titles that CBS trademarked last year..

By the way,  Congratulations to actress Mary Wiseman who tied to note to her fiance Noah last month.

Moving on to shows starting production to one with episodes aplenty under its belt. CBS All Access has renewed Discovery as expected for it’s third season with production set to start in July and it will have yet another new showrunner. Michelle Paradise has been promoted to co showrunner alongside Alex Kurtzman, To quote Alex Kurtzman in the official announcement, quote “Michelle joined us midway through season two and energized the room with her ferocious knowledge of Trek,” . “Her grasp of character and story detail, her drive and her focus have already become essential in ensuring the Trek legacy, and her fresh perspective always keeps us looking forward. I’m proud to say Michelle and I are officially running Star Trek: Discovery together.” I’ll have to agree that this season has been markedly better than last season. The main story is interesting, however… Maybe season three can see it tightened up some more? It’s expected that season three will air in the second or third quarter of 2020, after the new Picard show finishes up.

Now I mentioned Jonathan Frakes a couple of minutes ago, and that wasn’t the only thing he mentioned in that interview Mr. Frakes also assessed CBS’s plans for the franchise on tv quote My understanding is that Alex Kurtzman and Secret Hideout are creating a Star Trek show that will hopefully allow fans of Trek to have something fresh to see all the time. That is why Discovery, now that it is a hit, will continue, and they have announced Sir Patrick’s show, which is not titled, that will air after Discovery. And they have announced they are developing a show for Michelle Yeoh, so Empress Georgiou who is a character on Discovery will have her own stories. They have hired the guy from Rick and Morty – [Mike McMahan] – to write an animated show called Lower Decks, which I have seen parts of that are hysterical. So you have one, two, three, four. They’ve got a Nickelodeon connection for a little kid’s Star Trek, so that’s five. So, there is a world that is being created by Kurtzman and his team that will hopefully continue for many years and provide entertainment, and obviously conversation, about Star Trek for decades. Unquote  Jonathan talks a lot more about directing on the podcast, we will have a link to The Writer Experience podcast in our show notes. https://soundcloud.com/writerexperience/ep38

We also have an update on the DS9 documentary What we Left Behind. They’ve been working for months, to put 20 minutes of Deep Space Nine footage into HD. They released an update on the official website quote We’re nearly through the heavy research-and-scanning stage of our remaster, and with just a few (hundred) more film rolls ahead of us, we’re hard at work replacing the 20+ minutes of new HD sequences — spanning ALL SEVEN seasons of the original run of Deep Space Nine! Unquote  And they also posted an update on how close they are to release quote The restoration process alone is a HUGE undertaking — after all your support in funding this expensive endeavor, it has taken months of work from the CBS Digital team to coordinate, research, find, ship, scan and deliver the original film negatives for us, and more time from our team to clean up, color, and polish the resulting images (and even re-create a handful of effects!).

While we’re still waiting on final elements to arrive and distribution details to lock firmly into place, we don’t want to promise any deadlines we can’t meet with the film not yet entirely complete. They also teased a big update to come this month. So stay tuned…

Set a course for the Gamma Quadrant, GameSamba announced a sequel to Star Trek Alien Domain, Star Trek Alien Domain Incursion. The web browser based new game, which is now available pits groups of players against The Dominion in a battle for control of resources. The game is described as a hybrid of a simulation and strategy game. You can play the game at https://incursion.gamesamba.com

Marvel News

We start off Marvel news with Captain Marvel. The movie opened this past weekend grossing 455 million dollars worldwide, 153 million of that from the US. This made it the seventh largest opening for a Marvel movie of all time and puts it 18th on the list of biggest opening weekends of all time domestically.

Marvel movie star Samuel L Jackson has played both a Jedi and an agent of shield and he would be more than happy to reprise his Star wars roel of Mace Windu if asked, his Captain Marvel co-star Brie Larson confirmed to entertainment weekly that Sam even brought his lightsaber to the set of the marvel movie. Quote “I got to hold his lightsaber! He brought it to me on set on May the 4th, and I cried. It was so cool. I wanna be a Jedi.” unquote of course May the 4th is best known as Star Wars day.

Of course, we know that Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s, a time of video stores, well an interesting pop up shop has popedup in Canada (as far as we know) in the mall, a parody of Blockbuster video called Stanley’s video. Not an actual video store apparently but a scavenger hunt that nets the participant a Captain Marvel pin as a prize. Nifty.

And congratulations appear to be in order for Captain Marvel co-star Jude Law, according to Closer Weekly, Jude has officially gotten engaged to his girlfriend of four years business psychologist Phillipa Coan. This will be the second marriage for Mr. Law. The Sun reports that the wedding will take place in May with Jude’s eldest son Rafferty serving as best man.

Now over to the comic book side Thanos and Infinity Wars Artist Mike Deodato Jr.  has announced his departure from the House of ideas. However he won’t be leaving immediately, he’ll leave in June. According to Mr, Deodato On his facebook page, quote “Like everything in adult life, all decisions we make come with consequences, a price to be paid,” “In this case, in order to live my adult dream I have to let go my child dream. I have to leave Marvel. To leave home.”

“Marvel became a family to me, I grew as an artist and as a person together with all the good people I have worked there. The best people,” “Always encouraging me, always treating me with respect and care. It is weird that I feel like a teenager leaving home to face the world when I am older than a lot of them, but that is how I feel.
And I will miss and treasure them.” He did however teased he has one more project before he leaves, quote “June 14 will be my last day at home [Marvel], but you will keep seeing me for a while after that,” “Because my family would not let me go without a gift and what they gave me was the most amazing book ever, an opportunity for me to revisit all the characters I care the most in Marvel Universe – The Savage Avengers. I couldn’t think of a better farewell gift. We wish Dedato good wishes on his future endeavors.

On to the Sony side of the Marvel coin perhaps I should start calling it a die, there are more sides that way, Venom 2 is searching for a new director. As Venom director Ruben Fleischer won’t direct the sequel, Discussing Film has confirmed with Sony that he has departed.  According to the report production on the sequel is currently on the schedule for this November in Atlanta. Anyone want to do it?

Spiderman Into the Spider Verse is an Academy Award winning film. So how better to capitalize on this? Spin-offs! A new report from Discussing Film  says that Sony is looking into more spin offs than just the Spider Verse sequel and the all female spinoff. Which would suit Spider Verse producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller just fine, Lord told comicbook.com quote “Look, we wanted to make a movie that felt like it was the tip of the iceberg,” “You could imagine all of these other things. So it’s music to our ears that people could imagine a Spider-Noir film, and the Spider-Ham insane cartoon.” Into the Spider-verse grossed 362.8 million worldwide and had a budget of 90 million.

Now for some breaking business news. Disney has set the closing date for the merger as 12:02 AM Eastern Time on March 20th. This indicates that the final regulatory hurdle from regluators in Mexico has been achieved.

Not all of this is great as up to 4, 000 layoffs are expected to occur as the two companies integrate.

The closing also means that a new corporation is born, Fox Corporation will emerge from the bits and pieces of 21st Century Fox that Disney didn’t buy.

By the way, I do own stock in Disney.

DC News

We start the DC Universe news with the end…of Arrow. Stephen Amell, who plays the Green Arrow on the show announced it on his twitter feed  quote Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience of my life… but you can’t be a vigilante forever. Arrow will return for a final run of 10 episodes this Fall,”. “There’s so much to say… for now I just want to say thank you.” The show that launched the Arrowverse of shows shot it’s first arrow in October of 2012.

Krypton’s second season has wrapped shooting. The Syfy network show left off on a bit of a cliff hanger. Season 2 will debut sometime later this year.

DC’s Legends of tomorrow has a new series regular. Jes Macallan, who plays Time Bureau director Ava Sharpe has closed a deal to return permanently for season five of the WB show according to an exclusive report on Deadline dot com. Jes joined the series as Ava in season 3.

In movie news, Aquaman has passed Guardians of the galaxy on the all time domestic box office list. So far, Aquaman has grossed  333.2 million in the united states passing the first Guardians movie which grossed 333.17 million. Aquaman is one of the best performing DCEU movies and it’s already put a sequel and a spinoff based on The Trench into production.

DC is having a bit of a resurgence with the success of Aquaman and the anticipation over Shazam! The stand alone movie things seems to be doing well for DC movies. Speaking with the LA Times, Warner Bros. Entertainment CEO Kevin Tsujihara spoke about this new strategy

Quote “The upcoming slate, with Shazam, Joker, Wonder Woman 1984 and Birds of Prey, feels like we’re on the right track,” said Tsujihara. “We have the right people in the right jobs working on it. The universe isn’t as connected as we thought it was going to be five years ago. You’re seeing much more focus on individual experiences around individual characters. That’s not to say we won’t at some point come back to that notion of a more connected universe. But it feels like that’s the right strategy for us right now.” Sounds a lot like their going more for the Marvel version of universe building. Sounds like a good idea.

The streaming service DC Universe’s Doom Patrol series has revealed that Aquaman exists in their universe after Robotman referenced the King of the seas. Robotman teased Cyborg as Cyborg looked for his keys saying quote “I bet Aquaman doesn’t lose his keys.”. Of course Aquaman doesn’t lose his keys, they’re on a little seahorse keychain.

Shazam!s running time has been revealed and you’ll want to block two hours and twelve minutes. That puts it’s run time between Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad in length and a few minutes longer than Captain Marvel.

Swamp Thing is currently under production and director les wiseman showed off a video on his Instagram showing off the creepy set. In the video Len is shown wading in the swamp, feeling around for something in the water. We don’t know what he was searching for, but one thing has been found. Adrienne Barbeau, who starred in the swamp thing movie back in 1982 will be in the new series. What role she will play has not been revealed.

Geek News

We begin Geek News with an old man complaining. Steven Spielberg thinks that movies made for Netflix should be ineligible for the Academy Awards and is proposing a rule change to accomplish this. All this because Roma, which was produced by Netflix and ran in a theater for a short time in order to be eligible for the Oscars nearly won Best Picture. It did however walk away with three awards, Best Director, Best Foreign Language Film and Best Cinematography. A spokesperson for Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment said quote “Steven feels strongly about the difference between the streaming and theatrical situation,” a spokesperson for Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment said. “He’ll be happy if the others will join [his campaign] when that comes up [at the Academy Board of Governors meeting]. He will see what happens.” Now it’s not that Steven is alone in this battle, there are other reports that say that some Academy members think Netflix spent too much too market the film to Academy members and that you shouldn’t be able to just put a release in a couple of theaters for less than a week to qualify for the awards.  If any change is made by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. We’ll let you know.

Speaking of films, we have some possible casting news on the new Ghostbusters movie from Sony. According to Variety, Carrie Coon and Finn Wolfhard are in talks to play a mother and her son. Apparently these characters will be the center of plot. Not much is known about the film, which is being helmed by Jason Reitman, son of the original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman. The film should be filmed this summer and be released in July next year.

Now I know what you’re thinking, We don’t need another Ghostbusters movie and you may or may not be right. However do you think we need a sequel to the Tom Cruise movie of many titles, Edge of Tomorrow aka Live, Die, Repeat? Well get ready for one. Warner Bros is moving ahead with the movie with Invention of Lying scribe Matthew Robinson writing the script. The original from 2014 based on the Japanese novel, All you need is Kill did make 370 plus million worldwide. Tom Cruise , whose 56 by the way, has not signed on for the sequel but it’s expected that they will.

As you know, I love the Orville. It’s my favorite series right now. Well now we get an expansion this summer with a new comic book mini – series from Dark Horse Comics. The four issue series will be written by  The Orville executive producer and writer David A Goodman with art by David Cabeza and color from Michael Atiyeh and will take place between seasons one and two and be split into two storylines. Story one is called New Beginnings and sees Ed and Gordon on a journey to a fleet conference when they find a distress call from a Union ship that’s older than a century. The second storyline follows The Orville as the ship discovers a Union ship headed toward Krill space, but could it be something more complicated and deadly? The Orville miniseries comes out on July 17th.

Seth Rogen is entering the Twilight Zone. Seth will star in an upcoming episode of the classic series revival on CBS All Access. The series, which premieres on April first with new weekly episodes starting on April 11th. No word on what role Seth will be playing or in what episode. He joins other famous names like Greg Kinnear, John Cho, Adam Scott and Kumail Nanjiani who will star in upcoming episodes.

Taika Waititi has been tapped to co-write and direct the pilot for a Time Bandits tv series according to Deadline. The series will adapt the 1981 adventure comedy from Terry Gilliam, that saw a group of time jumping dwarves on the run from God after taking a map to all the time holes in the universe.  Waititi will executive produce alongside Terry Gilliam and Dan Halsted.

The world was shocked this past week by the announcement from Jeopardy! host Alex trebek that he has Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.  Alex decided to get ahead of tabloid journalism and make the announcement himself. He said that he plans on beating this and even joked that he has too because he still has three years left on his contract. We send our best well wishes to Mr. trebek.

We close tonight with a couple of remembrances. First off, we say goodbye to Katherine Helmond, the actress probably most well known for her roles on Who’s the Boss and Soap died at the age of 89 due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Her career goes back more than fifty years Her first television role was on Car 54 Where are you in 1962. Her first big tv role was in 1977 as Kathrine Tate on the tv comedy Soap, which won her a Golden Globe in 1980. In 1981, she had a memorable role as Mrs. Ogre in the Terry Gilliam movie Time Bandits. In 1984, she got another big role as Mona Robinson in the Tony Danza show Who’s the Boss, for which she won another Golden Globe award.  She has also had role in the Cars movie franchise as Lizzie. Katherine Helmond is survived by her husband David Christian.

The saddest news of this past week was the sudden death of actor Luke Perry. Luke Perry was 52 years old. He moved to LA after high school to pursue acting. He started in soap operas like Loving and Another world, before getting his big break as Dylan McKay in 1990 on Beverly Hills 90210. He’s had plenty of geeky roles over the years with roles in the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer and  The Fifth Element. He was also appeared on The Simpsons, Biker Mice From mars , Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the realm, The Incredible Hulk , Family Guy and Community. His last big role was as Archie Andrews father, Fred on Riverdale. His last role will be as Wayne Maunder in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood which will be out this year. Luke Perry passed away from a stroke He is survived by his two children Jack and Sophie and his finance Wendy Bauer.

An DC Comics

DC recently teased a series for Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen  by writer Matt Fraction and artist Steve Lieber also coming is a series for Lois Lane from writer Greg Rucka and art form Mke Perkins. These come on the heels of the announcement of DCeased. The latest event series to hit the DC Universe. From writer Tom Taylor with art by Trevor Hairsine, James Harren and Stefano Gaudiano. Here’s the official synopsis: quote  “A mysterious techno-virus has been released on Earth, infecting 600 million people and turning them instantly into violent, monstrous engines of destruction. The heroes of the DCU are caught completely unprepared for a pandemic of this magnitude and struggle to save their loved ones first…but what happens to the World’s Greatest Heroes if the world ends? Unquote Soooo. Zombies. No word on if this takes place in the main DC Universe or an alternate one.The first issue is set to be released on May 1st.

Aquaman has now knocked off Transformers Dark of the Moon to become the 20th highest grossing movie of all time. The movie has ascended to 1.13 billion dollars in worldwide box office. Aquaman is already the highest grossing DC Comics movie of all time having taken the prize from The Dark Knight Rises. A sequel is already in development With James Wan rumored to return,

You gotta love cookies. A girl scout has made Top Cookie CEO for her impressive cookie sales, how did she do it? She rebranded Samoas into Mamoas, after Jason Mamoa, she even redid the boxes with Jason Mamoa photo from Aquaman. Apparently they they were a hit with both boys and girls because according to charlotte quote “Girls will want to buy some because he’s on the front and boys will want to because he’s their favorite character,”. Unquote Now it wasn’t just charlotte’s idea as her mother is a marketing professional. Still, it’s very cool.

Well it’s official Ben Affleck has given up the cape and cowl and retired as Batman. Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote his new Netflix movie Triple Frontier, Affleck spoke about his decision to leave the Dark Knight behind as director Matt Reeves puts together The Batman. Quote “Yeah, I am. I have decided — I tried to direct a version of it, worked with a really good screenwriter, but couldn’t come up with a version,” Affleck told Kimmel. “Couldn’t crack it. So I thought it was time to let someone else take a shot at it, and they got some really good people.” Kimmel than hung Afflecks cape and cowl from the rafters.

So, who will next dawn the cape and cowl? No one knows yet, but Armie Hammer’s name has been bandied about, he denies it. Robert Pattinson has also been brought up as a possible contender, he wouldn’t be my choice, I don’t know that he has the chops to play the Dark Knight Detective. But I could be wrong.

Mattel’s loss is Todd McFarlane’s gain, Todd’s company, McFarlane Toys is taking over the DC Comics toy license. Todd has announced that the line will include interpretations of characters from movies, tv, video games and comics. Todd said in an interview quote “Let’s look at some of the categories we’re going to do,” McFarlane said. “We’re going to do movies. We’re going to do TV. We’re gonna do comic book versions. We’re gonna do animated versions. We’ll do the core toy line and then maybe even some video game stuff. So that gives us a wide range so that in any character you can think of, whether it’s Flash, I can do a version of each one of those. I can do TV, I can do movie, I can do comic book, I can do regular toy line Flash, animated Flash, video game Flash, so if you like Flash we’ll be able to do a big wide range of it.” unquote and it also looks like the figures will be super poseable with anywhere between quote 18 and 24 moving parts” Unquote  Mr. McFarlane hopes to launch the new line in January of 2020.

And on the subject of toys, Walmart stores have been trying to build up their collectibles aisle as of late and it has been announced that DC Collectibles will be bringing it’s Batman: Black and White statue line to Walmart stores as 4 inch mini figures. These figures will be shrunk down versions of the 9 inch figures and feature designs from artists like Jim Lee, Bruce Timm, Amanda Conner and many more.  These figures will be presented in the “blind bag” packaging next to DC Comic Giants and will have new figures every few months in waves of six. Wave one comes out this month and has all Batman figures from artists Amanda Conner, Darwyn Cooke, Jason Fabok, Patrick Gleason, Frank Quitely and Dick Sprang. The next release after that will be in April. They will retail for five dollars each and will be available in over 3,000 Walmart locations.

The upcoming Birds of Prey movie has gotten a new cast member, Charlene Amoia. Amoia, who was Wendy on  How I met Your Mother will play the role of Helena Bertinelli’s mother Maria Bertinelli Helena aka The Huntress is being played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) comes out February 7th 2020.

And in other DC casting news, Batwoman has found her father, actor Dougray Scott has been cast as Colonel Jacob Kane, the father of Kate Kane aka Batwoman. Dad is a retired colonel with a grudge against Batman. He now commands Gotham’s private security firm The Crows and has made it his mission to prove that Gotham doesn’t need a Batman. Hmmm. think he’ll be happy if he finds out that his daughter is a vigilante herself? The comic origins of the character are quite a bit different, as he is seen as an ally of Batwoman and has served as her Oracle type character.  Dougray is best known for his work in Mission Impossible II, Fear the Walking Dead and My Week with Marilyn. However he was almost Wolverine in X-Men, however he had to pass it up because the schedule conflicted with Mission Impossible II. Batwoman has yet to receive a pickup, but CW president Mark Pedowitz has expressed confidence that it will ultimately get picked up.

Marvel

Well, we knew it was only a matter of time. Netflix has announced that Jessica Jones and The Punisher have been canceled. The third season of Jessica Jones has yet to air. Netflix issued a statement saying quote “We are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning.” However there may be life after netflix, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb in a letter to Marvel fans said quote “Our Network partner may have decided they no longer want to continue telling the tales of these great characters… but you know Marvel better than that,” Loeb wrote, throwing some shade at Netflix for its decisions. “As Matthew Murdock’s Dad once said, ‘The measure of a man is not how he gets knocked to the mat, it’s how he gets back up.’

“To be continued…!”

So perhaps one day these characters will see the screen again.

And on the subject of exits, Gwyneth Paltrow has officially exited the MCU. The actress who has portrayed Pepper Potts since the birth of the MCU told Variety in an interview quote  “I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point,” “I feel very lucky that I did it, because I actually got talked into it. I was friend with [‘Iron Man’ director] Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first ‘Iron Man’ and then to watch how important it has become to fans.” Although she might come back for an occasional cameo if needed. Well now she has more time to spend promoting crackpot health theories.

Captain Marvel is on the horizon and a look at the new book Captain Marvel StarForce Mission Log has a character we haven’t seen since the first Guardians of the Galaxy film, Rohmann Dey. The Nova Corps member who was portrayed by John C Reilly. Does this mean we might see the character in the movie? We can only wait and see.

So, after watching Spider-man INto the Spider-verse have you asked yourself what hot dogs are made of in Spider-Ham’s universe? Wonder no more as producer Chris Miller answered the question on twitter quote In Spider-Ham’s universe, hot dogs are made of human meat. Feel better? Unquote

Hopefully from free range humans.

Star Wars

We start Star Wars news with news with a rumor about a possible new Star Wars series for Disney Plus. Star Wars News Net has heard from a little Porg that the studio is developing an Obi-Wan series. No if you’ll remember that an Obi-Wan movie was on the docket before Solo: A Star Wars story nixed those plans. So, I’m gonna guess that if The Mandalorian does well, this very well could happen.

HN Entertainment claims to have obtained a list of possible series that cold be put into production for Disney Plus. These include a Princess Leia prequel, Captain Phasma, The Knights of ren, Rose Tico and Darth Bane. Now keep in mind this is just a list of possible subjects ,nothing is in any stage of production. If any of these come anywhere near production, we will let you know.

So moving on from what might be to what will be, the trailer for the still subtitle less episode nine is on the horizon, and word is that it will be released in April as well as before Avengers Endgame. This report come from Star Wars News Net which says it has a very credible source. The debut could possibly be at Star Wars Celebration Chicago, which happens mid April.

Porgs, they aren’t just for dinner anymore. Syfy.com reports that ILMxLab has created a virtual reality experience called Star Wars: Project Porg, this mixed reality experience let’s the user take care of a virtual porg kinda like the old Tamagotchi (kid’s ask your parents what those are) The porgs can be played with fed and even mated with other porgs to make a new one. You can even take them on the road by taking your headset and controls with you. ILMxLab has released a video showcasing the game. It’s actually quite cute. We’ll have a link to it in the show notes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=197&v=cZNYwEyC-Gc

Grab your lightsaber and put it in your carry on bag, Time to got to france. The Associated Press reports that France has made Lightsaber dueling an official recognized competitive sport.  The sabers certified for this use LED rings to light up and are made of a touch polycarbonate plastic. Some of the higher quality sabers will even rumble when turned on and are made to be aerodynamic as possible. According to reports, lightsaber dueling was approved because of its intense physicality. The French Fencing Federation is equipping fencing clubs all over the country with sabers and instructors who are one with the Force and they are hoping that this will make fencing hip and will help attract people of all ages and help combat sedentary habits.

So if you’re asking yourself, what are the rules for the duel, here you go. The duel begins with both contestants entering a marked circle and saluting. A strike to the head or body accrues 5 points while limbs are worth 3 and hands 1. The first combatant to 15 points wins or to the person who has the most points after three minutes. Should both fighters reach 10 points before time runs out, the duel enters a ‘sudden death’ mode where the first person to strike their opponent’s head or body wins. Strikes only count if the saber’s point is pointed behind them before landing, making swings more theatrical and wide like actual lightsaber duels. So, if the step-and-launch method of fencing never fancied you, then this new combat system might do the trick. So…anyone want to duel?

Star Trek News

We start Star Trek news with the fifty thousand credit question. Now that Patrick Stewart is reprising the role of Jean Luc Picard, would Shatner consider returning to the role of Jame T Kirk? Speaking with comic book dot com before a show at the Grand Ole Opry. They asked him. His response? Quote “That word, ‘resurrect.’ That’s a keyword,” Shatner says. “Resurrect. You’d have to resurrect me, Shatner, in order to do the daily [laughes] I don’t what Patrick is doing doing that. Doing a series is debilitating for a young guy, for a 25-year-old, which I was doing when I was 25 years old. It’s a physical wrecker, it’s a mental wrecker, and it’s a homewrecker ‘cause you’re working 14, 18 hours a day. And in the last series I did, Boston Legal, I had, in rush hour, a two-hour commute. So add that.” Unquote In order words, no. Besides he probably makes more selling autographs for 80 bucks a piece at cons, please he doesn’t have to get off his seat. Trust me, I have a picture with him, he doesn’t get off his seat.

However, if you want someone who would return to Star Trek and has an EGOT (That’s an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and a Tony award. Whoopi Goldberg is ready to answer the call. On David Tennant’s podcast, Tennant brought up the notion of returning for the Picard series, and although she hasn’t been asked, but she would be open to it. So….balls in your court Sir Patrick, former cast members are standing by.

In a fourth quarter earnings call to investors, CBS interim CEO Joe Iannello revealed that CBS All Access roughly 4 million subscribers , they had originally hoped to reach that goal by 2020. CBS has now set a new target of 25 million subscribers for it’s All Access and Showtime subscription services by 2022. He did note the contribution of Discovery and the anticipation for the Picard series.   However I would like to note that no talk of the still possible merger between CBS and Viacom was discussed. So don’t expect anything on that front in the near future. However if we hear something, we will let you know.

Variety reports that CBS and Nickelodeon are in negotiations for a new Star Trek animated series for kids. By the way, have you been watching The Orville? These last three episodes of the season are game changers. Wow. Anyway You can now play with The Orville as Wizkids announced that it has gotten the license to produce HeroClix figures. The first set which will be released this fall is a Jumbo Starter set featuring the main crew from the show. This is only the second tv license to join the Heroclix line, Star Trek being the first. I so want these.

The classic nickelodeon show Are You Afraid of the Dark? Is set to be revived as a miniseries alongside a new film adaptation. The miniseries will feature new members of the Midnight Society gathering around the campfire to tell scary stories, Nickelodeon has not announced when the show would debut but it’ll probably be around the same time as the movie which is set for release in October of this year.

And while we’re on the subject of revivals, Neil Gaiman has teamed up with The Jim Henson Company and Fremantle Media for a new version of The Storyteller. The series from 1987 showcased retelling of legends and myths and featured John Hurt and later Michael Gambon as the Storyteller. Speaking to Deadline, Mr. Gaiman said quote “Part of what fascinates me about The Storyteller is the stuff that we don’t know,”  “Who was the Storyteller, why was he telling these stories, was he a goblin, what kind of creature? What I’d love to do is an inside story that’s as long as the outside story.” Neil is no slouch when it comes to folklore and fairy tales having written about folklore in mythology in The Sandman and American Gods and having released Norse Mythology, a book retelling several classic Norse myths in 2017. No distribution or release date has been announced.

The Lost Boys series on the CW will have some fairly major differences from its source material, that’s to be expected. The latest one is very interesting. If you’ll remember the movie, The Frog Brothers, played in the movie by Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander were the keepers of lore about vampires and the possibility of their existence in Santa Clara, California. Now word has come down by the Witching Hour podcast that The Frog Brothers have been gender swapped into the Frog Sisters The duo will be named Cassie and Liza, but no other word on any other changes to the characters has come forth. Here are the concrete facts we do know, The Lost Boys reboot will be led by Grey’s Anatomy writer Heather Mitchell. Here’s the synopsis quote “Welcome to sunny seaside Santa Carla, home to a beautiful boardwalk, all the cotton candy you can eat… and a secret underworld of vampires,” “After the sudden death of their father, two brothers move to Santa Carla with their mother, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up. But the brothers find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla’s eternally beautiful and youthful undead.” unquote

No word on if the show will get to go to the production stage yet.

While we are on the subject of the dead. We are sad by the report from The Hollywood Reporter that the George R.R. Martin inspired series Nightflyers will not be getting a renewal by Syfy The series based on Martin’s novella quote “followed eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of the solar system aboard The Nightflyer — a ship with a small tight-knit crew and a reclusive captain — in hopes of making contact with alien life. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place, they start to question each other, and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought.” unquote. I’m sure Mr. Martin is crying into the large pile of money he already has and my sympathies to the crew and fans.

We also have word from the Hollywood reporter that Amazon will end the Man in the High Castle with Season 4. Production will wrap up next month and the final season will premiere in the fall.

An exclusive to Variety has reveled that  a Gremlins aminated sereis is in development for Warner Media’s upcoming streaming service. The potential series is said to be a period piece that would follow Mr. Wing, the Chinese grandfather played in the films by Keye Luke, as a young man as he goes on adventures with the friendly Mogwai Gizmo. The series will be produced by Warner Bros. Television and Amblin Television. Both Warner Bros. and Amblin produced the films on which the show will be based. Tzw Chun has been attached to write and executive produce it, his credits include the tv shows Gotham and Once Upon A Time and he is the co founder of comic book publisher TKO Studios.

Rafe Judkins will serve as showrunner and executive producer. No launch date has been revealed yet.

We talked a couple of episodes about the award season. The grand finale is here. The razzies and the Oscars.

Worst Screenplay Fifty Shades Freed There were a few other awards, but I’ll just link to those in the show notes.

And finally the big one The 91st Academy Awards were held on Sunday and Black Panther did pretty well. Picking up Oscars for Production Design and Costume Design and Original Score and the oscar for best animated picture went to Spiderman Into the Spider-verse.  Plus Stan Lee was honored in the In Memoriam tribute.

Mario and Zelda will have new games coming out this year as Nintendo has announced a new game for each. First up is Super Mario Maker 2, which will allow you to make your own Mario levels including new objects from Super Mario 3D World.  Zelda will get an old favorite remade as the Gameboy classic The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is being brought to the switch. I loved this game when it first came out and the animation for the update looks good.

Marvel News:

A new rumor has surfaced from the site Geeks WorldWide that Deadpool 2 director David Leitch will be returning to direct Deadpool 3. The Site notes that Leitch has the Fast and Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw next with filming from September to January. That could mean that Deadpool 3 wouldn’t begin production till sometime next August.  Which would also be well after the Disney/Fox deal will be done.

Speaking of Geeks Worldwide, They have a report from Omega Underground  that Marvel Studios is looking to begin filming a Phase Four movie next June in the United Kingdom. The big three candidates would be Black Widow, Doctor Strange 2 or The Eternals.  Those three are movies that are known, but have yet to have any dates attached to them. The vast knowledge of what will be in the Phase Four of the MCU is unknown, other than Spiderman: Far From Home which is set to come out next fourth of july weekend.

Well let’s get to the news concerning the firing of James Gunn on Guardians 3. As you might have heard, Disney and Marvel will not be rehiring Gunn, and will instead be looking for a new director. One name has already come forward to say Take me off your list.

Steven DeKnight, who served as Executive Producer for the first season of Daredevil in addition to directing the lackluster Pacific Rim Uprising was asked on twitter if he would be willing to step into the role if offered. He answered, quote “I would politely decline,. “No way in hell I could come close to what @JamesGunn has accomplished.”

So anyone else want the job?

Jessica Jones series creator and Executive Producer Melissa Rosenberg will be leaving after the series upcoming third season for a new deal with Warner Brothers Television, where she has signed a contract worth tens of millions according to the Hollywood reporter. Apparently Netflix DID try to retain her services, but the contract from Warners was just too great. In a statement Melissa said quote “All of my attention remains with the extraordinary cast, writers and production team of Marvel’s Jessica Jones, until the completion of season three,” “It continues to be a career highlight working with my partners at Marvel Television and Netflix. We’re extraordinarily grateful to the viewers who have supported us every step of the way on Jessica’s journey, which is so beautifully realized by Krysten Ritter and the amazing cast including Rachael Taylor, Eka Darville and Carrie-Anne Moss. We have so many talented storytellers in every area of this show, who I’m honored to call friends and collaborators. As I look ahead after this season, I’m thrilled that I will be able to explore new projects with the talented team at Warner Bros. Television and push myself in new challenging creative directions.” Unquote

The cast of Deadpool 2 was asked by Buzzfeed quote  “If you could have anyone from any franchise join the X-Force, who would it be?” unquote

Suggestions put forward by the cast included Howard the Duck, the Blob, Cilene Dion and Captain Planet. Ryan Renolds had the big winner, suggesting Hugh Jackman but not as Wolverine. Just plain old Hugh Jackman, maybe singing as his Les Miz character.  Well here’s to hoping Ryan. Here’s to hoping.

Doctor Strange, Master of the Mystical Arts and Acerbic Wit will be back. Yeah, he dissolved into nothingness in Infinity War, but that’s immaterial. Dissolved. Immaterial. Get it. A rumor reported by the Mirror indicates that filming will begin in Spring 2019, giving it a probable fall release date in 2020. Allegedly, he will get a pay raise of 6 million more than the first movie netting the Master of the sling ring 9.5 million. I would love it if it had some interaction with Spider-man.

DC Comics

DC’s Suicide Squad movie hit theaters two years ago, man that’s seems like ages ago. Apparently it is paying some dividends, On Twitter, comic book writer Jai Nitz, whose version of el Diablo was featured in the film, posted “Did you like El Diablo in @DavidAyerMovies Suicide Squad? Good. Because it just bought me a house. #CasaDelDiablo” He posted that with a picture of him and his new house.

Speaking of Suicide Squad, news around the sequel has been quiet. Todd Stashwich will pen the script with David Bar Katz and Gavin O’Conner will direct. However it looks like it will be getting delayed a report from Geek WorldWide indicates that Smith will film Bad Boys 3 and the sequel to the Netflix film Bright next. This will push back filming on Suicide Squad two for quite some time.  Warner Bros seems to be shifting it’s current priorities to The Joker, Birds of Prey, The Flash and The Batman movies. Shazam! Is now in post production and will come out this April. SHAZAM! Damn, still not working.

In an interview with Bustle dot com, Legends of Tomorrow stars Tala Ashe, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Caity Lotz, Arrow’s Juliana Harkavy, and The Flash’s Candice Patton said that they’d be up for an all female crossover. Tala Ashe said quote “On our own show, all of us separately have said to the writers, ‘Let’s have a girls’ episode,'” “Not just for the sake of having a girls’ night, but realizing that it’s kind of rare, actually, to be in a scene where it’s just women. What is that conversation between five [superhero] women when it’s not about a man? That would be exciting to me, so yeah, let’s freaking crossover it up!” And it’s not like they want to just get rid of the men for an episode, they just think it would be fun for the women to have a team up by themselves. Now while there’s no indication of am all women crossover, there will be more women kicking but in the Arrowverse with the addition of Ruby Rose staring in Batwoman and joining this years crossover.

Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen series has officially been green lite at HBO. There’s no official release date yet but the show should debut in 2019.HBO’s press release officially confirmed the show’s extensive, all-star cast list. The full list includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Adelaide Clemens, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith, and Adelynn Spoon. The press release had the following logline for the series. Quote Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own. Unquote Kinda vague. What we do know is that it won’t follow the same story or characters from the original story.

So are you ready for Watchmen sans The Watchmen?

And speaking of shows coming to series Pennyworth has been ordered to series by Epix. The show that centers around Alfred Pennyworth’s younger days will consist of 10 episodes and will begin filming in London in November. The series will tell the story of Alfred Pennyworth in 1960s London, after his time serving in the British SAS. Batman’s father, Thomas Wayne, will also have a major role in the show, as he is set to be a major ally for Alfred.

All this needs is James Bond, Austin Powers and The Avengers team-up.

The Wilmington Star News reports that DC Comics Swamp Thing series will begin filming in the North Carolina town in September. The series, which is set for a thirteen episode first season will be filmed at EUE/Screen Gems Studios and will run on the DC Universe digital streaming service.

Toymaker hasbro and DC Comics have settled a trade dispute over the name Bumblebee. The transformers maker sought to block sales of a Mattel doll based on the superhero who has the ability to shrink arguing that it caused confusion in the marketplace with their own Transformer, the yellow Autobot called, Bumblebee. *sigh*

Terms of the settlement were not disclosed and no one on either side had a comment to Variety dot com.

A Bumblebee spin off movie is coming to theaters on December 21st.

Just to set the record straight, the DC Comics character of Bumblebee predates the Transformer, she debuted in the Teen Titans in 1977. The Transformer was introduced in 1983 and they obtained the trademark on the Bumblebee name in 2015. It’s amazing that no one trademarked that name before that.

So now they can all Buzz off.

Writer Scott Snyder has officially addressed whether or not the 2013 Batman Zero year storyline is still DC Comics cannon. The recent 2011 reboot of DC, The New 52, erased some parts of DC Universe continuity but kept some as well.

But with Doomsday Clock and Justice League causing more ripples in the universe Scott was asked on twitter if Zero Year still was. His reply quote It’s all supposed to be right now. Bc of what’s happening in Doomsday Clock, there can be fluidity so a lot of pre and post new 52 material co exist. Also, I always feel Bruce wore the great classic costume most of his early career. ZY is specific to ZY.

So the answer for right now is Yes. But it’s still subject to change.

In this age where comic book properties are being made into movies and tv, it’s almost shocking to learn when something didn’t come into being.

Moon and Warcraft director Duncan Jones has revealed on twitter that he once pitched a Prez movie to Warner Brothers and the studio didn’t go for it.

First a little backstory, Prez is a DC character from a short lived 1973 comic series by Joe Simon and Jerry Grandenetti. It focused around Prez Rickard who becomes america’s first teenage president and gets into all sorts of weird things like vampires, werewolves and George Washington’s descendant. It was cancelled after four issues. Dropped in the quarter box of history. Enter Duncan Jones. He has said that his take on Prez would have been inspired by a story Neil Gaiman wrote in 1993 for his seminal fantasy horror series, Sandman.

Quote I’ve mentioned this once before, but there was a fantastic DC comic book called Prez once upon a time that [Neil Gaiman] did a spin on, about a young kid genius who solves the problems of the world,”Unquote  Jones further elaborated Quote “I wanted to make that movie but DC guy at WB not interested.” “Didn’t fit in with their ‘fights in tights’ ethos, I guess.” Unquote Now while this version of the character might not see the light of day anytime soon, the character was revived by DC in 2015 for a six issue miniseries about a teenage girl named Beth ross who also becomes President and chooses Prez as her vice president. It was very well received.

DC Universes Doom Patrol series has found it’s Cliff Steele aka Robotman. Brenden Fraser, who is known for 1999’s The Mummy and it’s sequels, Dudley Do-Right and George of the Jungle, will voice Robotman, as well as appear as Cliff Steele in flashbacks. Here’s the official character description: “A former race car driver, Cliff Steele was in a horrific accident that left his body uninhabitable. Cliff’s brain was saved by the mysterious Dr. Caulder and he lives on in a powerful robotic body.” Fraser joins “Orange Is the New Black” star Diane Guerrero, who will play Crazy Jane, and “The First Purge” star Joivan Wade, who will play Cyborg.

Legendary composer Hans Zimmer will return to the DC Universe according to Film Music Reporter, Zimmer has agreed to score Patty Jenkin’s Wonder Woman 1984/ Zimmer last composed superhero music for Batman HansV Superman in 2016. He is replacing Rupert Gregson-Williams who did the score for the first wonder woman movie.

Star Wars

Deadline reports that Lord of The rings and Lost star Dominic Monaghan has been cast in Star Wars Nine, the search for more money. With the news ,Dominic has said quote “The galaxy far far away has had almost as much influence as the one I live in, so I am delighted to be involved,” He reoprtedly joins Keri russell, Naomi Ackie and richard E Grant as new to the franchise actors.

The new Star Wars animated series Star Wars Resistance will be bringing some big talent with it. Including Oscar Isaac voicing Poe Dameron and Gwendoline Christie  as Phasma. The first trailer has revealed that Leia Organa will be featured in the series voiced by Rachel Butera. Here’s the description of the series. Quote “Resistance fighter Poe Dameron tasks young pilot Kazuda (Kaz) Xiono with spying on the First Order. At the time, little was known about the secretive organization and its strength. In order to fulfill his mission, Kaz travels to the space station Colossus, which is being used by many ships as a port to refuel and do repairs. However, there are also dangerous races taking place there. After Kaz bragged with his piloting skills at his arrival there, he is soon drawn into one of the races…” unquote The series takes place in the time between Return to the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

The novelization for Solo A Star Wars Story includes a deleted scene with a couple of characters from the old Extended Universe, Tag and Bink. Tag and Bink are from a Dark Horse Star Wars comedy comic called Tag and Bink are Dead. The two characters find their way in and out of the main star wars story, accidently influencing the events of the Star Wars universe with comic results.

According to Jonathan Kasdan quote “One of the things we went back and forth on a lot is that both Larry [Kasdan, co-writer] and I felt that it was important to see Han in the Imperial Academy, in the Navy, because we wanted to see him become this pilot,” Kasdan shared with ComicBook.com. “And from the first draft through the last draft, there was a chunk of the movie — Very short. Like, I’d say 80 seconds long — That showed him in the Imperial Academy doing some sort of flight things, sort of disobeying a direct order, and getting kicked out.” Kasdan and his first AD played Tag and Bink in the scene, but Ron Howard cut the scene, even though Ron’s wife Cheryl was in the scene too. Quote “We were so sure, too, that Ron actually put his wife, Cheryl, who has to be in all his movies because it’s his only superstition, into the scene because he’s like, ‘Well, this is the one thing that isn’t coming out,'” “And then it did come out, and Ron had to get Cheryl over to Disney and CGI her into another shot just so we weren’t cursed. So, when I think you’ll see Tag and Bink is on the Blu-ray, because no way we’re putting that on Blu-ray without the Imperial Academy sequence. It’s a great sequence, too.” The novelization hits shelves on September 4th, while the Bluray hits shelves on September 25th.

Neil Lamont, one of the production designers at Lucasfilm has told Cinemablend that he and his team had begun work on a Tatooine set for an unknown spinoff Neil told them quote

We were just starting our work on another Star Wars spin-off and yeah. We were actually just making our mark on Tatooine — which would have been interesting and some other new galaxies,” Lamont shared with CinemaBlend. “So hopefully, if that comes back, we’ll get the chance to be able to do that further.”

He didn’t elaborate on why they stopped, but speculation has begun on what the set might have been for. Could it have been the Obi-Wan movie? Or Boba Fett? The conclusion that CinemaBlend came too was a possible idea for a Mos Eisley Spaceport movie something that would revolve around the hometown of Luke Skywalker.

This might have been interesting, but with Solo being a box office disappointment, Lucasfilm seems to be narrowing their strategy at the moment. I guess once bitten, twice shy.

Well if you had the theory that actor Richard E. Grant would be playing Grand Admiral Thrawn, I hope you didn’t put any money on that. The actor told Radio Times when the question was brought up quote“I’m not playing the Star Wars character you just mentioned,” “I’m not allowed to tell you anything. Otherwise I would be fired.” unquote

I guess we’ll have to keep dreaming

Star Trek news

Garrett Wang at Star Trek Las Vegas suggest that Paramount would have been better off if they would have made a Voyager movie instead of the much maligned Star Trek Nemesis. Wang told the crowd  quote “I think Voyager’s ‘Endgame,’ the final episode, the first hour was amazing,’ Wang said (via Trek Movie). ‘The second hour tied things up too quickly, right? They should have aired the first hour on your television screen and on the end say ‘To be continued in a theater near you’ and film a Voyager two and a half hour movie, got rid of the Nemesis script. Because let’s face it, if your TNG feature film script is not as good as certain TNG TV episodes, don’t film it. Sorry.”

Heck, I think they should have had Voyager return to the Alpha Quadrant  at the beginning of the movie only to have to team up with the Next Gen cast to defeat the Borg Queen for good.

Darn it. Bad News, Amazon’s adaptation of Galaxy Quest is on hold. Writer paul Scheer told the Wrap that the firing of Amy Powell as president of Paramount TV has hurt the project. Quote“We currently are in a little bit of a hold pattern because our executive at Paramount, Amy Powell, was fired for some insensitive comments,”  He went on to say that they want to create something that feel like an epic sequal to the movie, continuing the story while bringing in new characters. Quote “So it is mixing two casts. It’s separate kind of adventures that kind of merge, and I’m looking at this first season not as episodic, but as a serialized story,”. “So, the only way I’ve been looking at it is, using everything from the first movie and making the reasons for everything not just – I want to avoid anything that could be viewed as a reboot for reboot’s sake. There are real reasons behind these choices – maybe too much so.” Unquote

So think of it has a movie told in a season long arc.

Franchise Fatigue. To define it simply, it’s when too much of a property is produced in too short of a time period without much distinction between products causing fans to walk away because they’ve seen it all.

In the early 2000’s Star Trek found itself mired in it. Star Trek Enterprise ended and no new films or series were planned. The property was dormant for four years until JJ Abrams launched the Kelvin Timeline movies.

Now Star Trek is back with new series on CBS All Access and multiple movies on the horizon. Ronald D. Moore, veteran writer from the golden age of the franchise in the 90’s spoke about it during a panel at Star Trek Las Vegas quote“When you say something like franchise fatigue, to me, it means that particular flavor had run dry,” Moore said during a panel at Star Trek Las Vegas (via Trek Movie). “To mix my metaphors, essentially that way of doing Star Trek, that way of telling story, and those kinds of stories had run its course. You could just see in the shows. It had fatigue. It was tired. It wasn’t really engaging anymore or felt like it was just standing in place.” unquote

Moore than went on to say that the key to overcoming the fatigue is to bring in new talent, new ideas and a willingness to change the rules of the franchise.

Ron than spoke about the concerns about the new Trek franchise and that having new Trek year round won’t be a problem as long as CBS is providing distinct offerings.

Quote“Where you are now it’s like, okay, it’s all been reinvented, it looks completely different, the style is very different, the stories are different, so it doesn’t feel like you’re in danger of franchise fatigue just because there’s a lot of them coming out,” he said. “If they’re all the same or if they just start becoming the same meal over and over again, then you’ll run into fatigue and they’ll have the same problems.” Unquote

Are you worried that Trek might run into franchise fatigue faster when they have Trek year round?

Speaking of CBS All Access, CBS and Amazon have announced that the limited commercial version of All Access is now available as an Amazon Channel. The commercial free version has been available since last year.

Wil Wheaton has walked away from Twitter. He took part in #DeactiDay a movement meant to encourage Twitter users to deactivate their accounts either temporarily or permanently. Posting on twitter he said quote Twitter is broken. You deserve better than an app that tolerates and welcomes the spreading of abuse and misinformation. Being part of this is not doing us any good. Personally, politically, socially. For a day, a week, forever: your call. It’s just a good time to go. #DeactiDay unquote

Wil has been constantly taunted with Shut Up Wil memes for years. ON one hand, I don’t blame him for wanting to get away from that. On the other, I think he should have embraced those memes and made it part of his brand.

Wil, come on back to twitter, rise above this and show those haters that you’re bigger than they are.

The news that Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth have walked away from the negotiating table means Star Trek 4 is in jeopardy. Might it be time for the film franchise to go another way? In an interview with CNET John Cho says that he would be interested in a spinoff movie starring Hikaru Sulu. In reference to the Star Wars spinoff movies like Solo:A Star Wars story. “If Solo, why not Sulu?” “I don’t know if there is a day shooting Star Trek where Chris Pine did not call me Solo.” That aside, Cho doesn’t know anything about the next Star Trek movie telling CNET that he quote “I know very little about this,” Cho says. “I’ve heard we’re going to do one. But beyond that, I don’t have details. I’d rather not know; I don’t want to lie. The boring answer is to wait for the powers that be to make a decision.” unquote  Well listen to my show John and if the news breaks I’ll let you know about it.
