Show Notes: Episode 48:Opening a Channel to The Orville & Episode 49: Dancing Down the Joker Steps

Tonight! Ewan McGregor finally gets to spill the beans, Could Janeway get a monument? And we talk about The Orville with a special guest  on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the scifi edition of Multiverse Tonight.

So how was your Halloween? My wife and I had about 50 kids over the night. Not a lot of costumes as it was kinda cold. And then we had the time warp again a few days later, Daylight Savings time needs to be abolished. It’s no good for anyone. Especially me, I don’t get an extra hour of sleep, I get an extra hour of work at my job.

This episode we have an interview with Tom Costantino. An interview that we would have recorded last week except, he had to prep his family for a voluntary evacuation from a fire that was in the LA area.

Anyway, Let’s start with the news…

Star Wars

We start with Star Wars news and Ewan McGregor who must feel so much better now that the news has been announced that he will be returning to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for a Disney Plus series. The actor told Men’s Journal that quote “It’s a fucking massive relief,” “Because for four years, I’ve been having to lie to people about it.” unquote. However he’s only being allowed to say that the show will be six hour long episodes. He also reveals that the story quote sits between Episode III and Episode IV unquote He also wants to quote “…get closer and closer to how Obi-Wan felt while Alec Guinness was playing him. I feel like I’m grayer and nearer him in age, so it’ll be easier to do that.” unquote  I can see it. Right now ewan is just 17 years younger than Alec Guiness was when the film debuted.

Filming on the show will start in the summer of 2020 and will debut on Disney Plus in 2021.

The trailer for the Rise of Skywalker was big news and now the movie is showing up in everything including The United Airlines In Flight Safety video

https://youtu.be/21hbvm69i4k

And speaking of the movie it smashed pre sale records in its first 24 hours, the JJ Abrams helmed movie has racked up more advanced ticket sales than any previous title in the series according to Atom tickets. Tickets went on sale after the trailer was released during Monday Night Football. It is also Atom tickets second biggest title in first day sales behind Avengers Endgame and has sold two and a half as many tickets as The Last Jedi. Although this has come with controversy from some circles saying that some entity bought up tickets in blocks in order to achieve this. I try to stay out of rumors until I see actual proof.

In a stunner this past Tuesday, it was reported that Game of Thrones tv creators David Benioff and DB Weiss are out of a planned new Star Wars trilogy that had been announced over a year ago. Benioff and Weiss in a statement said quote “We love Star Wars. When George Lucas built it, he built us too,” . “Getting to talk about Star Wars with him and the current Star Wars team was the thrill of a lifetime, and we will always be indebted to the saga that changed everything. But there are only so many hours in the day, and we felt we could not do justice to both Star Wars and our Netflix projects. So we are regretfully stepping away.” The first of the trilogy would have been out on December  sixteenth of 2022. This news comes after last months revelation that Kevin Feige was developing a Star Wars movie. Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm did express her appreciation of Benioff and Weiss and hoped to work with them in the future when their schedules weren’t so busy. However the duo did just sign a five year two hundred fifty million dollar deal with Netflix, so I guess they will be tied up for some time. Maybe Disney and Lucasfilm should ask for open submissions for the next trilogy?

So why have so many directors come and gone from the franchise? Apparently the answer might be creative control. According to a piece in Variety, in the beginning the filmmakers were promised a level of creative control. However multiple insiders that talked to Variety new ideas were commonly shot down as it seems that Kenedy and her team wanted people to stick to the company line.

Benioff and Weiss would have explored the distant past of the universe to explore how the Jedi came to be.  However the studio and the pair started to diverge on their vision for the new trilogy

Apparently the final straw was after pair signed their deal with Netflix, and Kathleen Kennedy not believing that they could focus on both projects at the same time.

I’m not going to recap the entire article here, but the article is fascinating and there’ll be a link to it in the show notes. https://variety.com/2019/film/features/star-wars-kathleen-kennedy-david-benioff-db-weiss-1203388611/

Star Trek

Annd will be installed on Bloomington’s B-Line Trailer The campaign is sponsored by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority and is now live on Patronicity. Artisan Alley leads the campaign with permission from CBS Studios.  If they achieve their goal of at least 12,500 by December 21st, they will receive a matching grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series has a main villain. The series has cast Game of Thrones Joseph Mawley according to sources to the Hollywood reporter. Mawle is believed to be playing a character named Oren. He joins Will Poulter and Markella Kavenagh in the cast. Production on the show is set to begin in 2020.

Stranger Things fourth season will consist of eight episodes. But the next season is still a ways off, Filming will start in January and will wrap in August. So we won’t have a summer premiere like the last season. Maybe a Halloween debut?

Netflix has released some preview photos for it’s new vampire series V Wars, based on the book series by Jonathan Maberry. The series follows a doctor and his best friend who has been transformed into a vampiric predator. Ian Somerhalder plays Dr. Luther Swann and Adrian Holmes plays Michael Fayne. Here’s the official synopsisDr. Luther Swann (Ian Somerhalder) enters a world of untold horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes), into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans. As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these “vampires.” Swann races against time to understand what’s happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires. Unquote The ten episode first season will arrive on Netflix on December fifth. Just in time for Christmas.

Speaking of Netflix, they have renewed Katee Sackhoff’s series Another Life for season two. The series, which centers on Sackhoff’s astronaut Niko Breckinridge and her crew as they take on a high risk mission to investigate and alien artifact and find extraterrestrial intelligence. The ten episode season will begin production in 2020. Season one is out now.

Disney Plus will not rotate it’s content like other streaming service once the service debuts on the eleventh. A spokesman for Disney Plus confirmed to comicbook dot com that nothing licensed will be rotated each month and nothing from Disney’s Signature Collection will be rotated in or out. This is a change from the past when Disney used to bring out a classic movie for a limited time and the then put it back in the quote “Disney Vault” unquote

Let’s get to that interview with The Orville Associate Producer and Editor Tom Costantino.

Thomas Townley: My guest today is part of one of my favorite shows, The Orville. He joins us from the Fox studio lot in Los Angeles. Please walk up my associate producer and editor Tom Costantino.

Tom Costantino: Yes, thank you. Actually they gave me a bump. It’s co-producer, hope producer.

Thomas Townley: Well, congratulations.

Tom Costantino: Oh yeah, it’s just a more, more work. [inaudible]

Thomas Townley: okay. Now, well, start off by telling us more about yourself and what you do on the show.

Tom Costantino: Uh, well I, uh, I’m, I’m happy to also be the supervising editor. I started on the pilots and have been here ever since. Um, I’m sort of in charge of all picture cutting and uh, I have some various other responsibilities which some above some of the things with social media, uh, comic con, uh, and a lot of other minutiae that I would never dare to bore you with. But uh, there is a lot, there’s a lot of big shows, so there’s a lot to do. So we all, it’s all hands on deck.

Thomas Townley: Okay. And what would you say this is the best part of your job?

Tom Costantino: Best part of my job actually is doing stuff like this, getting, having, having a real time interaction with, um, with uh, people who are very appreciative of the show and just, and, and also the fact that I’m a huge, you know, I mean I’m a huge scifi nerd and star Trek fan and I never thought that this font of useless information somehow earned me a living.

Thomas Townley: Well, I am deeply honored. Um, now some news dropped yesterday, deadline.com reported that Anne Winters as joining the cast as a series regular. Can you tell me anything about what her role is on the show?

Tom Costantino: I, unfortunately, I can’t, but she does play an integral part of the show and she’s awesome. Uh, sitting behind you. I have some dailies of her and, uh, yeah, we’re happy to, happy to have her. Um, but, uh, you know, a contrary to popular opinion. She’s not replacing Adrian. That’s all I’m going to say. That’s that. No, she’s a, yeah, she’s a, she’ll be with us, uh, this season and she’s gonna fit right into this crazy cookie bunch.

Thomas Townley: Awesome. And, uh, well, right now, where are you in the filming of the season?

Tom Costantino: Uh, we are, we are, uh, we’re, we’re only a few weeks into filming, uh, and we’re, uh, you know, we’re working on the first episode and some of the, uh, some subsequent other early episodes, uh, were not quite block shooting, but we’re trying to, you know, uh, you know, gather as much material as possible. Um, so, uh, yeah, we’re, we’re basically part of the way through the first episode and some others, not much past the third. Okay. It’s a nonlinear answer to a two or a nonlinear question. The, normally I would say, you know, I would have a more definitive answer, but we’re, we’re trying to gather as much material as possible.

Thomas Townley: Oh yeah. And, uh, I know, I know you have an, an NDA. There’s not really much you can tell us. Is there, is there any way, any kind of a hint you can give us.

Tom Costantino: about.

Thomas Townley: anything.

Tom Costantino: specifically? Uh, well, I kind of said this before, so I don’t want to be cliche, but, uh, you know, a lot of the, a lot of the story threads that people were loving in season two and season one, they will not be forgotten. You know, we’re not going to ever be serialized. It’s not our, it’s not our style, but we, we’re not going to forget our history. So I can totally say that. And you know, uh, I, I, this has been said before, but, but it’s true. You know, we had an identity part two and uh, tomorrow, sorry, that’s tomorrow. That’s the 12th day you have a road not taken. You know, we had like two of those and then some other ones, but now we have like seven of them. So…

Thomas Townley: Awesome.

Tom Costantino: Yeah. So we’re bigger.

Thomas Townley: Okay. And, uh, was kinda been your favorite episode so far?

Tom Costantino: Yeah. Ever?

Thomas Townley: Yeah.

Tom Costantino: Uh, you know, it’s a fight for me between, I mean, they’re, they’re all our babies, but, uh, you know, I have a soft spot for the Clare Isaac narrative, so I always will love , Into the Fold and A Happy Refrain, but I thought, you know, having to sit on the finale, uh, you know, that was, that was the most gratifying to sort of like live scroll that on Twitter and, and uh, so, so, but, uh, but I mean, as for my softspot, I would say it’s A Happy Refrain.

Thomas Townley: Cool. And, uh, has, as we know, this, uh, third season is going onto Hulu and they sent you some cookies I saw.

Tom Costantino: Yeah. Oh, good. Oh good. They looked good. Yeah, they’re sure. And they were like, they were like a shortbread cookies or something. I got one of the last ones. I didn’t even take that picture.

Thomas Townley: And, uh, also since, uh, Fox(sic, Disney) has merged with Hulu. Has, has Disney had any kind of contact or influence on the show yet?

Tom Costantino: Uh, yeah, I wouldn’t say influenced, but they’ve been very receptive. Uh, you know, we had a kickoff meeting with them, sort of catching them up on stuff. I mean, uh, you know,It’s mostly business as usual. We, we’ve been pretty lucky in terms of like, Fox has been really understanding in terms of, you know, what the show is and how much larger it can be than sort of network shows. And that’s why they kind of, you know, allowed the Hulu transition. And um, yeah, I mean there hasn’t been any sort of like, you know, any, I mean, I think people make bigger, not you personally, but they make bigger stories or like, you know, like, Oh my God, the corporate overlords are coming in. No, no, it’s not, you know, it’s not like that. I mean, there’s definitely infrastructure changes and really boring stuff, but everyone’s been pretty supportive so far. I, it’s, it’s, you know, it’s hard to, it’s hard to deny cause I’ve heard of other situations, but now granted we’re early into it. I mean, who knows? Ask me again in a year.

Thomas Townley: Okay. And, uh, well since you’re under the Disney umbrella, the Muppets are also under that Disney umbrella as well. Could you see other Muppets or than Kermit show up on the show, perhaps in the environment simulator?

Tom Costantino: Oh my God. I don’t know if we’ve ever, ever explored that a, I think we did get Kermit cleared. Um, I think there’s probably some legal loopholes we’ve got to get through, but I would also say that we probably have some other, probably pretty fun guest stars and other things before we’ll get to the Kermit stuff and the miss piggy stuff. However, that would be awesome to recreate that in the simulator.

Thomas Townley: Yeah. You don’t want, you know, I like to see, I’d like to see Ed jamming with Rowlf the dog.

Tom Costantino: Really? Yeah, I’ll mention that to Seth.

Thomas Townley: Yeah, that would, I think would be, that would be a really cool combo right there.

Tom Costantino: I love Rowlf.

Thomas Townley: Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

Tom Costantino: Originally. I mean, I’m assuming, I’m assuming maybe we can do, maybe we can link some of them with pigs in space or something and then we’re like, we’relike [inaudible]

Thomas Townley: Ooh, that’d be, that’d be cool right there. That’d be awesome. Um, okay, now you’re, you’re in your third season. Do you see, could you see any chance of an Orville movie in the far future?

Tom Costantino: Yeah, I mean, be honest if, if, if everyone’s willing and Seth is, it’s really, if Seth has it in him and, and, and the fates are right, sure. Why not? I think we’re all open. We’re all here as a labor of love. So I would imagine if, if he wanted to do it and people wanted to pay for it, that we would all stick around and try and, you know, blow people’s socks off for two hours and some odd minutes.

Thomas Townley: All right,

Tom Costantino: now I won’t rule it out.

Thomas Townley: Now let’s take a take a turn into merchandising here. Now the Orville has a comic books from Dark Horse comics and they’ve been very well received. Are there any plans for a novel based on the series?

Tom Costantino: Plans for a novel…. You know, I will, I will get you an answer. I don’t, I have not heard anything about a novel. I know that there might be more things in the vein of comic books, but if anywhere person were to do it, it would be, it would be Mr. David Goodman, Uber talented David Goodman. So next time I see him I will ask him, which will probably be tomorrow because I’ll see him on set.

Thomas Townley: Cool.

Tom Costantino: But that’s a good question. I actually actually don’t know. You know, we’re just starting to see fan films, which is exciting. So I’m just going to have that.

Thomas Townley: [inaudible] cause cause that would, that would really go over well with me. I love, I love the old star Trek novels.

Tom Costantino: really.

Thomas Townley: back in the day and, and the Orville would seem like something that would go great with a novel.

Tom Costantino: Well, I think the comic was that basic idea, but I could imagine a world where, you know, where that, that can happen. But, uh, I, it’s funny, it’s one of those, it’s one of the few loopholes. I haven’t really, one of the things I haven’t really heard much about or been involved or there’s toys and other things come on away, but, uh, that I will check into.

Thomas Townley: Excellent. And finally, what is your favorite scifi show? Other than The Orville?

Tom Costantino: *grabs a Battlestar Galactica Colonel Viper ship and slaps it on the desk*

Thomas Townley: Battlestar Galactica.

Tom Costantino: I rarely have a visual aid, but you happen that I don’t know if you time that, but yeah, yeah, no, I mean, of course I love star Wars and you know, all these old Star Wars and uh, I mean, I, I mean as fan I like some more obscure stuff, but uh, you know, like the black hole and stuff. But, but the, uh, more than anything, these guys also have Doug Drexler down the hall. He gave me this. So cool. You know, that’s the most exciting thing so far of being able to interact with my, I don’t want to make them that much older than me, my childhood hero, but my hero of postproduction and makeup. So yes, I would say BSG.

Thomas Townley: Alright, awesome. Well, thank you very much for your time, Tom. And the…

Tom Costantino: I’m saying this publicly, apologize about the fires last week. Kind of screwed up our last meeting.

Thomas Townley: Oh, that’s it. That’s okay. You know, I hope you and everyone out there stay safe during the wildfire season. And uh, I hope we can talk again once the Orville debuts on Hulu next year.

Tom Costantino: Yes, please. We’d love to, I’ll bring, I’ll bring some friends. We’ll do, we’ll do some more and uh, but before then I will definitely get you to answer about the novels.

Thomas Townley: Oh, cool. Thank you. Thank you very much.

Tom Costantino: Alright, you have a good one.

Thomas Townley: You too.

Tom Costantino: We’ll talk soon. All right, bye.

Good interview.

Episode 49

Tonight! The Bronx says stop dancing down our steps, Superman gets a new series and The Spiderverse comes again on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the comics edition of Multiverse Tonight.

A few days ago I started playing Luigi’s Mansion 3 for the Nintendo Switch and it’s a very good game. However it is one that you will need to limber up your fingers for it. It uses almost all the buttons in rapid succession.

By the way, if you’ve been watching HBO’s Watchmen, be sure to look at the Peteypedia on the shows website. It’s full of all sorts of backgoround on what’s happening in that weeks episode.

I hope you tuned into the last episode, I had a great interview with Associate Producer and Editor Tom Constantino from the Orville, if you wanna hear what he said, just go back one episode in the feed.

Let’s get one with the news

DC

So you love the Joker movie and want to recreate Joaquin Phoenix’s dance down that set of stairs. That set of stairs is in the Bronx neighborhood of New York  at the corner of Shakespeare and Anderson in Highbridge and you might not want to go there. According to a report, residents of the community aren’t thrilled with the attention and one man decided to send a message by throwing eggs at some of the tourists descending the staircase. The man even videode himself and uploaded it to twitter shouting at the people quote “Y’all not spending no money in my store, but come and take pictures. Get the f*** out of here!” unquote In other words, be kind, spend a dime.

Brandon Routh is saying Goodbye to Legends of Tomorrow. The Former Superman, current The Atom star said goodbye via Instagram saying quote “My final day of filming with my #LegendsFamily. I love you all & appreciate the 5 seasons we’ve spent together.

It hasn’t always been easy, but I think that’s what makes it harder to leave—getting through the growing pains of the first few seasons has bonded us. 👊🏻 And made the last three seasons a blast! I’ve never been at a job this long, so this is new for me. 😢 I think I will miss you all and the fun we’ve had making this silly show on the #Waverider—as much as I’ll miss bringing #RayPalmer to life. Love & blessings on a great finish to the season. 🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️”

Both Routh and his wife Courney Ford who plays Nora Darhk are leaving the series. Series Executive Producers Phill Klemmer, Grainne Godfree and Keto Shimizu told Deadline quote “Brandon and Courtney have been invaluable members of the Legends family,” “They have always brought a level of passion and collaboration to their characters and to the show — both on and off the screen – that we deeply admire and for which we are eternally grateful.”

Speaking of endings. Arrow co-creator took to Twitter to explain the meaning behind the series finale’s title “Fadeout” in the post he displayed a drawing of a bow with callouts to what all the parts of the weapon . He circled the bottom of the bow which is called the Fadeout. Wonder if Starling city will be destroyed one time…

Warner Bros tangentially Batman related Joker has passed Deadpool 2 to become the highest rated R rated movie. The film has totaled over 790 million dollars.. Deadpool 2 grossed in 785 million last year and the first deadpool garnered 782 million. Ryan Renolds congratulated Joker with a tweet saying quote “R-rated box office congratulatory posts aren’t like the ones you’re used to.” unquote . That was because it came with a redone pic of the movie poster with the words you mother f*cker , heart Deadpool , Neo, Pennywise, Jesus, Hugh Jackman, the Wolfpack, Mr. Grey, Ted

Batwoman’s ratings have slowly slipped down since the premiere, but the CW has confidence in the show giving it and Nancy Drew full season pickups. CW went on to emphasize that both shows Plus 3 and Plus 7 numbers are doing good. With double digit gains. Not only have they given batwoman a full season they have extended the season order from 13 to 22.

Lucifer is in the midst of filming its final season and Kelly Calrkson on her talk show got to visit the set with her mother and sister, while there Tom Ellis announced that the sixteen episode season will be split in two saying quote “Season 5 of Lucifer is going to be split into two halves. Netflix are gonna drop eight episodes and then there’s gonna be a little break, and then they’re gonna drop another eight episodes.” unquote There will also be a special black and white 1940’s themed episode with a musical flair. The release date has not been announced.

Wonder Woman 1984 director has all but confirmed that Pedro Pascal will play Maxwell Lord. She tweeted a pic of the character from the comics with “Well hello…Max” #WW1984 she tagged Pedro Pascal in the post, which is what is leading the speculation that Pedro will be Max.  The character was created back in 1987 and debuted in Justice League number one. He was first just a backer of the league but later turned into a more sinister character. Wonder Woman 1984 opens in theaters on June fifth, 2020. Seems like they better get crackin on that movie…

Superman is returning to tv. Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch will play the titular characters in Superman & Lois. Former Flash showrunner todd Helbing will be writing and executive producing the new series. And will follow Lois and Clark as they deal with all the problems of being working parents in today’s society. Of course, you know that Greg Brelanti will be executive producing the show alongside Helbing, Berlanti Productions Sarah Schechter and DC’s Geoff Johns.

The CW is also working on a female focused arrow spinoff with Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy. So when will the CW just become the DCW already.

Marvel

One of the best jokes in Avengers Endgame was Captain America looking at his past self lying face down on the ground and remarking “This is America’s Ass. In an interview with Syfy Wire Endgame writer Christopher Marcus explained that originally it was only Tony Stark and Ant-man on the joke. But then it grew. He told them quote “It sort of grew on its own,” “The first thing that was there was Tony looking at Cap’s terrible Avengers outfit and going, ‘that suit does nothing for your ass.’ That stood on its own for a while, and then Ant-Man was added to the scene, and he said, ‘I think that’s America’s ass.’ And that was the joke for a while.” unquote His writing partner Stephen McFeely decided to add Cap in on the joke during the reshoots he told Syfy Wire quote “We redid the Cap on Cap fight, the ending of it, and that helped us tremendously,” “And then we needed to get out of that scene a little differently, and there [2012 Cap] was, slumped on the ground with his butt in the air.” unquote And movie magic was born.

By the way, Christopher Markus also talked with CinemaBlend and told the site that he would like to see MODOK as the next big bad. Quote “I always go back to the guy I always want to see on screen, which is MODOK,” “Also, part of me… it’s hard to say if he was officially destroyed, I wouldn’t mind seeing a third incarnation of Zola. Now in a robotic body. We got him from human to face on screen, I’d like him to get mobile now. I can’t say that’s going to happen, but it’d be fun.”

MODOK aka Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing was originally a guy named George Tarleton who was mutated after an accident that made his head huge and required a special hoverchair to move around. He first appeared in Tales of Suspense #93 back in 1967.

Sony announced on Halloween, the sequel to the Oscar award winning Spider-man into the Spider-verse will come to theaters on April 8th, 2022. The team of Lord and Miller will be back for the sequel. They also announced that another Sony Pictures animation project, a musical adventure story called Vivo that has songs from lin-Manuel Miranda will be pushed back to April 2021. Vivo was a project they acquired from Dreamworks and centers on a capuchin capuchin monkey with a thirst for adventure – and a passion for music – who makes a treacherous passage from Havana to Miami to fulfill his destiny. Quiara Alegría Hudes, Miranda’s collaborator on In the Heights, wrote the script with  The Croods director Kirk De Micco is directing.

A report from variety might spell a problem for Marvel’s Hawkeye series. Hailee Steinfeld is supposed to be up for the lead role in the series, but  she already has a role on Apple Plus’ Dickenson. When asked about it at the premiere for the show, she played coy about it saying quote “That, I don’t know about!” she said, seemingly caught off guard. “I don’t know,”“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Sources have told Variety that her deal with Apple might preclude her taking a role on a competing streaming service, although her team could always negotiate a fix for that.

If more detail comes out, I’ll let you know.

Some Marvel comics news, The X-Men comic lineup is expanding. THe two new titles were announced at the MCM comic con in London. The first will star Jean Grey and emma frost with art by Russell dautherman.

The movie is about Tom and Jerry getting kicked out of their home and moving to a new york hotel where Chloe Grace Moretz’s character must evict Jerry of lose her job… and hilarity ensues I guess. The film also features Michael Pena, Ken Jeong, Jordan Bolger and Pallavi Sharda.

The Muppets are getting their own talk show on Disney Plus. The show will be executive produced by Brian Henson and Vince Raisa from The Jim Henson Company and Joseph Freed and Allison Berkley from Marwar Junction Prods.

Actor David Dastmalchian has a new comic book out the actor created the book, called Count Crowley: reluctant midnight monster hunter while on the set of Dune. he told the hollywood reporter quote “I was on break, sitting in my trailer, and I started jotting down this idea that had been woken up in me,” unquote the comic is set in 1983 and centers on a character named Jerri Bateman who ends up hosting a nightly Creature Feature on a small midwest station but soon learns that the job also includes hunting down monsters that are trying to control the world’s news and information.  The titular Count Crowley, her predecessor went missing.

David said of the series quote “I’m dealing with all these issues relevant to my own sobriety,” “My own struggles with interpersonal relationships. The way I relate to my family, dealing with feelings of shame, guilt, the giant growing pains we’re going through as society as a whole, and thinking about how all that filters through the metaphor of monsters battling monsters.” unquote

The comic is out now.

Comedy Central has ordered a new animated web series from Bobby Moynihan called Loafy. Loafy is an animated comedy about a weed dealing manatee running a drug empire out of the Central Park Zoo. Bobby will write, act  and executive produce the series alongside Big Breakfasts Luke Kelly-Clyne. This show joins Blark and Son from Stoopid Buddy stoodios. Comedy Central VP of digital original development Steve elliot said quote “We are so excited for both of these series as we continue add(ing) original content to our growing digital portfolio,” said Comedy Central vp digital original development Steve Elliott. “It’s a great opportunity to work with Adam and Ben again after the success of the first season of Blark and Son. And clearly, now more than ever, the world needs a weed-dealing manatee and more Bobby Moynihan — not necessarily in that order.”

So let’s look at this past weekend’s box office.

Show Notes: Episode 46:Back to The Dwarf…Again & Episode 47: Putting Silent Bob in Cement

Tonight! Chris Hemsworth wants in on Star Wars, Star Trek Discovery finds a broadcast home in the UK and The Red Dwarf flies again on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the scifi edition of Multiverse Tonight.

So how’s it going for you? Can you believe that we’re half way done with this month already? Just about a month away Disney Plus launches, but not on a lot of platforms it almost looks like Apple TV, xbox. Playstation and Google chromecast might be it. They still haven’t made a deal with Amazon that’s acceptable to both parties. I hope they iron that out before launch. I don’t want to have to move the Chromecast from one tv to another to watch.

I have some news. The next scifi edition of the podcast will have an interview with The Orville Associate Producer and Editor Tom Costantino. Hopefully we will be able to get some good insights out of him.

Star Wars

Chris Hemsworth would love to add another franchise notch on his big belt of franchises. He’s been in a Star Trek movie, Men in Black movie, Ghostbusters and of course, Marvel. He even shows up in Kevin Smith’s latest view askewniverse movie Jay & Silent Bob Reboot…and it was a very funny cameo. At the ACE comic con midwest Chris was asked if he’d want in on the Star Wars franchise, on a show or movie and the answer was quote “Oh yeah, I’d love to,” “I’m not sure there’s many people that’d say they wouldn’t want to be a part of that world, you know and especially having it be something I’ve grown up with like all of us here, probably, it’d be like a fan experience as opposed to being an actor and that’s the fun thing at this point of cinema and my career.” unquote. Maybe he could play a warlord or a ruler of a planet with great lightning storms? Yes, No, Too on the nose, hmmm?

The Journey to the rise of Skywalker is getting fleshed out via comics and books, the latest is the new comic Journey to Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker Allegiance which will see the remains of the Resistance setting up base in the Anoat system. Here’s a trivia note for you, Anoat was one of eh possible locations Leia mentioned going to in the Empire Strikes Back. Here’s the blurb for the four issue series. “Hounded by the First Order across the galaxy, the Resistance is in dire need of ships, weapons, and recruits to make a final stand against Kylo Ren’s forces. Desperation drives a delegation led by General Leia Organa and Rey to entreat the Rebel veteran’s one-time allies, the Mon Calamari, to join the fight — but decades after Imperial occupation enslaved their planet, there are those willing to stop at nothing to prevent another war from bloodying the waters of Mon Cala. A system away, Poe Dameron and Finn have their own mission: to hunt down a weapons cache on the remote moon of Avedot, unaware that they are being hunted by the most notorious criminal gang in the galaxy.” unquote The first issue is out now.

In the new Young Adult Star Wars novel Force Collector by Kevin Shinick. We find the adventures of Naq Med a Jedi who survived Order 66, but the Dark Times before that and he was still alive before the events in the Force Awakens. He will apparently become the guide for the subject of the book. Here’s the summary quote Karr is a teenage boy like many others in the galaxy, but he has a secret: when he touches certain objects, he gets visions of people he doesn’t know and places he’s never been.

Karr’s grandmother is convinced the visions come from the Force. But are there any Jedi left to guide Karr in the use of his abilities.

Accompanied by Maize, the unpredictable new girl at school, and RZ-7, Karr’s droid companion, he sets off into the larger galaxy to find the truth. Hi adventures will take him from Utapau to Jakku to Takodana and beyond as he learns more about the Jedi than he could have expected…and about his own place in the Force. Unquote  The book, which is part of the Journey to Star Wars The rise of Skywalker series, is out now.

The runtime for the rise of Skywalker might have been discovered. According to a post on Reddit from a theater worker, the film should come in at two hours and 35 minutes, making it just a few minutes longer than The Last Jedi now let’s be clear here that we don’t have an official length but it seems likely that this is correct, as theaters like to have showtimes scheduled out so they know when they have to staff up.  The film comes out on December 20th.

And if you’re planning a marathon before you go see the movie. Disney Plus will have plenty for you to watch. The streaming service released a list of everything that will be on the service on day one on November twelfth. All the Star Wars will include:The Mandalorian, All the movies, the

Documentary Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy and Animated Series

LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures (All Seasons)

LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars

The conclusion to clone wars will be out in February and much more is planned for the new year.

Star Trek

The second season of Picard is in the works says Alex Kurtzman in an interview with Trek Core. Season one wrapped at the end of August and a second season had been hinted at by series star Patrick Stewart, but this confirms it. The first season will launch on CBS All Access in January twenty third, 2020.

Star Trek’s Original Captain William Shatner took a moment to tweet a reminder of what Star Trek is about saying quote A word @ @StarTrek; the vision of the show from the beginning was to highlight social problems & stigmas in a way that makes you give it some thought.  It may be controversial to some but it presents issues in an abstract enough way to encourage conversation. That hasn’t changed. Unquote He’s right. In fact most of the good science fiction is a way to make us think about things with an interesting story. Kinda like a story burrito…or like putting a pill in a piece of cheese for your dog…Just something to think about.

Good news to my listeners in the United Kingdom, Star Trek Discovery will have a broadcast tv home, but with a caveat. Discovery which is in its third season will still debut new episodes on Netflix. Channel 4 will debut on the channel in 2020 starting with season one. They will also get the Matt LeBlanc show Man with a Plan (which is still a thing) CBS Studios International President of Sales said in a statement quote

“We’re excited to bring the linear television rights for Star Trek: Discovery to the international market and launch in the U.K. with our valued friends at Channel 4,”. “This agreement features the best of both worlds – premium subscription content from a global franchise and a very popular network comedy from America’s Most-Watched Network. Channel 4 is already a licensee for several of our top-rated franchises, including The Good Fight and Charmed, and we are confident they will have continued success with Star Trek: Discovery and Man with a Plan.” unquote.

Anis Abdin, the creator of the Tardigrade game for which he sued and lost to CBS over copyright infringement has appealed the ruling and a goFundMe has been started to help him with legal costs. Anis wrote on his blog quote I have filed an appeal to the ruling regarding the Tardigrades lawsuit. As an independent creator, I found myself with no rights. If I don’t have rights, so does everyone else.”

“I have always wished I could carry the financial side alone, but the numbers are getting ridiculously high and I have exhausted all my resources. I want to expand my defense team with more consultants and technical experts.”

“My dear friend Gary Buechler (Nerdrotic) have helped me set up a Go Fund Me page. It is so hard for me to ask for your donations. I have never done that before and never wanted it to come to this point. All I can say is thanks to all of your support from the beginning of this lawsuit.”

So we know a little about the Star Trek lower Decks animated series. But what about teh Nickelodeon animated series? Well be prepared to wait, in an interview that TrekCorewith producers Heather Kadin and Alex Kurtzman, the series won’t even have any footage to be seen until 2021 or later. Heather Kadin told TrekCore quote “Looooonger,” “I was surprised! As someone who makes big, live-action shows, I heard how long it was going to take and I was like, ‘What?!’ Because it’s 3D animation, so just takes that much longer… But the Hageman brothers [come from] Ninjago and TrollHunters, they’re doing it, so it’s definitely going to be more in that visual look.”

They also told TrekCore that the series does have a title, but that they weren’t going to share it just yet.

Geek

We got some Matrix 4 news. We already know that Keanu will be back. Now Variety is reporting that Neil Patrick Harris has joined the cast, role unknown. Deadline reports that Jessica Henwick from Marvel’s Iron Fist is also in talks for a lead role. Also Aquaman actor Yaha Abdual-Mateen the second will be there as well as well as Carrie Ann Moss and Jada Pinkit Smith is in discussion to return as well. More join everyday. The Matrix 4 …any guess on what it’ll be called? My guess is Matrix Rebooted. Will come out sometime in 2022.

The CBS All Access production of The Stand has added another big name to it’s already huge roster of talent. Greg Kinnear is set to play Glenn Bateman, who according to the press release is quote “a widowed professor when the superflu hits, Glen Bateman was accustomed to a solitary life. When he encounters other survivors, his curiosity is piqued by Mother Abigail’s visions.” Kinnear joins James Marsden, Amber Heard, Heather Graham, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Henry Zaga, Brad William Henke, Eion Bailey, Katherine McNamara, Hamish Linklater, Alexander Skarsgård, and Whoopi Goldberg. The series will be out in 2020.

AMC Entertainment, the company behind AMC theaters has announced that they are starting their own On Demand Movie Service. AMCs president and CEO Adam Aron said in a release that AMC Theaters on Demand will offer about 2000 movie for sale and rent after their theatrical run with prices ranging from 3 to 5.99 to rent and 9.99 to 19.99 to buy. The company is hoping that it’s 20 million AMC Stubs households will also turn to the theater chain for their streaming movie needs as well.

The Guys from the Dwarf are coming back one more time. The Red Dwarf official site broke the news that Red Dwarf, the british sci fi comedy series would be returning for made for tv movie on Dave. Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules and robert Llewellyn will all be back in their  respective roles as Lister, Rimmer, the Cay and Kryten in an all new story written by and directed by Doug Naylor

Craig Charles about the new season said quote .”I’m really excited to get back on board with the boys from the Dwarf,” says Craig. “I can’t wait to discuss Robert’s prostate problems, Chris Barrie’s hip replacement and have a proper look at Danny’s new dentures whilst they marvel at the agelessness of the Charles physique. I will surely require the services of a chiropractor after dragging these doddering misfits through what promises to be our most epic adventure yet. Dave Lister, the human race’s last hope in a hostile universe. God help us. And may the Dwarf be with you.”  Doug Naylor added quote

“I’m absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity of making more Red Dwarf,” adds Doug. “UKTV have been a never-ending source of support and encouragement since we first started working together ten years ago. Can’t wait to start shooting a format that I don’t think has ever been done before. Smoke me a kipper, we’re back and not just for breakfast.”

English Actor Stephen Moore has passed away. Stephen is best known for his roles as Marvin from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy BBC radio series and the Silurian Eldane during Matt Smith’s Run on  Doctor Who. Moore got his start with The Hitchhiker’s Guide in 1978. Where he voiced the depressive android for four more series, the tv show, and the audio books and records. In addition to Marvin he voiced Gag Halfrunt, Frankie Mouse, a whale and the ruler of the universe. Moore also was a prolific stage actor earning the 1983 Laurence Olivier theater Award for lead actor for a revival of The Dolls House. He is survived by his five children. Stephen Moore was 81.

Marvel

So would you like to  see an all female Marvel team up movie? During a panel at ACE Comicon Tessa Thompson and Brie Larson talked about wanting to see such a movie come to life and more than just one film.

Thompson told the crowd quote “I know what I want,” Thompson said. “No, listen, this is not just because Valkyrie would like to hang out with some of the beautiful, strong, intelligent, fantastic women of the MCU. She would, platonically in a team-building way. So, I want to work together as a team, us women, doing things in a film or two.

Brie Larson added that fan support for such a project would help much such a project a reality quote “I think that is what we want, we want to see females working together, ideally in their own film and we really have been saying this a lot but the more that people talk about it and say they are behind that and are interested in that the higher likelihood it is that that could happen,” Larson said. “People are listening. They’re watching.”

So in other words, balls in your court people. You want it You ask for it.

And while you’re at it, why not ask for a musical, during that panel at the ACE Con, the duo stumbled on the idea of doing an MCU musical Tessa said quote “We’re not going to do like a musical, like an MCU musical…” Larson’s fact than lit up and the duo said MCUsical together. Tessa than continued, “Someone call Kevin Feige. I just came up with that right now. That’s a brilliant idea. There’s a lot of people with musical talents. Tom Holland can do flips and splits and stuff. Okay, I’m going to pitch that, you have Kevin’s number right? I only have his email, I’m gonna work on that.” unquote

The Helstrom series on Hulu now has an official cast list. Tom Austen and Sydney Lemmon will star in the series as Daimon and Ana Helstom. Man comic book movies keep getting put down by people.

The latest is Jennifer Aniston, in a new interview with Variety bemoaned that she misses a Marvel movie free industry. When asked why she decided to return to tv with her new Apple TV show The Morning Show, she responded quote It wasn’t until the last couple of years when these streaming services were just sort of exploding with this amount of quality that I actually started to think, “Wow, that’s better than what I just did.” And then you’re seeing what’s available out there and it’s just diminishing and diminishing in terms of, it’s big Marvel movies. Or things that I’m not just asked to do or really that interested in living in a green screen. Unquote  Ok, Jennifer, let’s make one thing straight. There are more than just CGI filled Marvel movies out there. Second, perhaps you should choose better movies to star in? You haven’t had the greatest choices in movies. Maybe you should call your fellow curmudgeon Martin Scorsese and make a great movie with him?

Anyway, The creator of The Punisher has a message for the law enforcement community after a police officer was caught on camera wearing the Punisher logo during an altercation at a community oversight meeting in Dallas. The creator took to twitter after the incident and tweeted quote Any “cop” who wears a Punisher logo in his official capacity is identifying law enforcement with an outlaw. These “cops” are a disgrace to serious police officers everywhere. They show an imbecile level of irresponsibility and should be fired immediately. Unquote The Punisher after all is a vigilante who takes the law into his own hands, this makes him a criminal, no matter what is ultimate intent is. Maybe choose a better character to emulate, like Captain America or Superman?

Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have written movies for both Deadpool and Zombieland. Now the pair think that a crossover is a great idea. At the LA Comic Con, the duo said quote “Deadpool would do great in #Zombieland . He’s kind of a zombie himself with the way he heals. And his humor is right on point with these guys.” I could see it. Perhaps they should test it out in comic book form first. Zombieland Double tap is out now.

The 1996 Howard the Duck movie is a cult classic and a bit maligned. I’ve always had a place in my heart for that movie. However star Tim Robbins thinks there’s something loveable about the old film. In an interview with yahoo! The actor said quote “To be honest, I think there’s a lot of charming things about that film,” “George Lucas had just done Star Wars, it was a lot of money, it was on location and I think it was the first film that the Marvel Universe did. So on paper it felt really great!” unquote

The movie was panned by critics and was considered a bomb. However in 2014, after a cameo appearance by the character in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, a push for the duck has snowballed and now Howard the Duck wil have an animated series from Kevin Smith on Hulu.

Writer and director Taika Waititi has raised the possibility that elements from the Jane Foster breast cancer storyline could make their way into the movie.  Speaking to Variety’s Mac Malkin during the press tour for his new movie Jojo Rabbit, the director said that the cancer could make it into the film. Quote “I think that’s a really powerful part of the books. I think it’s really cool that she’s fighting this thing and there’s two battles going on. Personally I really love that storyline,” he said. “But whether it ends up in the film is yet to be seen.” “We’re not sure if we’re going to do a complete lift of that whole storyline. These things change through the shoot and even when we’re editing sometimes,” he said. “Like, ‘Let’s get rid of that storyline where she’s got breast cancer. We’ll change it to something else, or maybe she’s fine.’”unquote . The storyline in question, takes place after Thor.is deemed unworthy of Mjolnir and his title as Thor. The hammer finds its way to Jane Foster, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She is worthy and the hammer allows her to become Thor, and while the transformation means she doesn’t have cancer when she’s in her super powered state, the transformation destroys the chemo that her human form needs to fight the cancer.

Thor Love and Thunder has a release date of November fifth 2021.

DC

Have you watched the new Watchmen series yet? Watchman creator Alan Moore, who’s not a fan of the series, on the BBC6 show Paperback writers graphic content revealed that director Terry Gilliam who  was planning on doing a movie version of Watchmen back in the late 80’s/early 90’s, before deciding that it was unfilmable, told Mr. Moore that he had received phone calls from singer David Bowie wanting to play the role of Rorschach. You know someplace in some other universe you can see that version.  Anyone got Rick Sanchez’s number?

And as you know that it was Zack Snyder who eventually made Watchmen…which Alan Moore didn’t like…well That’s okay Alan a lot of us didn like the cut we got of Justice League. Fans have been asking for the so called Snyder cut of the movie since the movie first came out.Now not only have they raised the call again, they’re using it to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention as well. The group has raised over 100,000 dollars for the American foundation for suicide prevention, they’ve also made banneers, posters and had gatherings as well. Zack Snyder shared an article from the afsp website about it on ntwitter and commented quote I’m honored to have such amazing fans unquote  No word from Warner Bros on if the Snyder cut will ever see the light of day (although I’m sure they could make millions if they did.)

Mental Health and Suicide Prevention kind of go hand in hand and recently Batwoman star ruby rose opened up about her own battles with depression as part of Mental healt day

Ruby took to Instagram with a photo of herself from a hospital bed taken in the day’s before she joined the cast of Orange is the New Black. With the post quote

“Today is world mental health day. This photo is from right before I started OITNB. I’ve struggled with mental health my entire life. I was first diagnosed with depression at 13, then major depressive disorder at 16. When I was 18 I found out I had Dissociative amnesia . I had a few years entirely erased from my memory and a chance run in with my best friend from primary school was the first I learned about it. She remembered me but I didn’t recognize her at all. She remembered our teachers, things we did and my monkey backpack.. things I didn’t remember even when she said them with such innocent conviction.”

“I went home and asked my mum ‘Did I have a monkey backpack at school?” That is when it all started to unravel and my life changed…I started asking questions.

“I found out I went from a smiling laughing child to a quiet mute who sat alone and stared off into the distance during recess after one of many traumatic events that I didn’t remember. One that my mum had to tell me about but hadn’t for so many years because the doctors at the time said I was too young to process what had happened and that it was for the best.“I was also diagnosed with Bipolar for a long time until it turned out I just had depression.. the pure sad depression without the fun and not so fun parts of mania, it was an overactive thyroid that created that misdiagnosis. Cut to many dark times. On medication, off medication, on and off and on and off per each wrong diagnosis.

“There were hospitalizations, suicide attempts as young as 12. Cut to therapy and meditation, cut to seeing me at ever self-help section of every bookstore. Cut to a brain scan which showed I had severe PTSD… cut to more therapy and tests that led me to my final diagnosis… C-PTSD. Complex PTSD. What I have learned from the struggles of mental health is just how strong I am. It’s how amazing people are because they love me and support me and yet you can’t judge those who don’t understand and don’t know how to do that either. It’s that you cannot judge people at all because you can never know what they have been through. It’s that self love and self care is more important than anything else.”

Her series Batwoman has been doing well in the ratings, It dropped 22 percent from week one to week two and has about one and a half million viewers.

The Batman has lost one star but gained another. Jonah Hill  has apparently left the movie for reasons unknown. However news has come out that Zoe Kravitz has been tapped to play Selina Kyle otherwise known as Catwoman. Zoe Kravitz has previously acted in Big Little Lies and Mad Max Fury Road. I kinda question if we need to see Catwoman again. Hopefully she will just play Salina Kyle. I think we’ve seen Catwoman enough times.

One of the controversies of Joker was the use of Gary Glitter’s Rock N Roll Part 2. The song has been controversial since 2015 when Mr. Glitter was convicted of mulitple sex crimes involving kids and sentenced to a sixteen year sentance. Since then the song has been persona-non grata. However if you were worried that Gary would be profiting from Joker’s success. Good news. Gary will see no money. According to an update to a report on Consequence of Sound dot com quote A representative for Snapper Music, which owns the rights to Glitter’s catalog in the UK, disputes reporting that Glitter will receive any profits from the song’s use. “Gary Glitter does not get paid,” a representative told the Los Angeles Times. “We’ve had no contact with him.” Nevertheless, the New York Post reports that Warner Bros. may remove the song from future releases.” unquote So don’t worry, you’re ticket money isn’t going to go pay a pedophile.

And it’s been quite a haul at the ticket office as Joker is Warner Brothers highest Grossing Movie of the Year Worldwide. And it’s number one all over the world. However it’s got a long way to get to beat Disney and it’s losing steam as Maleficent took this weekend at the box office.

By the way did you see the Joker movie parody that Saturday Night Live did? Instead of Joker it was Oscar the Grouch. Very cute. I’ll have a link to it in the show notes.

We have a bit of casting news here. Wayne Brady will play a recurring character on Black Lightning. The game show host will play tyson “gravedigger” Sykes, described as a world war 2 era member of the US military who was turned into a superhuman fighting machine by secret lab experiments.  Soooooo. Captain America. Apparently Sykes refused to live in the still segregated US after the war and instead defected to Markovia with the aim of creating a metahuman nation there. This set him up for congratulations with ASA and Black Lightning.

Wonder Woman’s 750th issue will be out on January 22, 2020. The issue will be 96 pages in the prestige format and will be a jam book with interior art from Colleen Doran, Jesus Merino, Elena Casagrade, Gabriel Picolo, and Wonder Woman Rebirth illustrator Nicola Scott. With stories from Gail Simone, Greg Rucka, Steve Orlando, Vita Ayala, Marguerite Bennett, Jeff Loveness, Kami Garcia, Mariko Tamaki, Shannon and Dean Hale, and others. There will be variant covers based on every decade starting in the 1940’s b Joshua Middleton, the 50’s by Jenny Frison, the 60’s by J. Scott Campbell, the 70s by Olivier Coipel, the 80s by George Pérez. The 90s by Brian Bolland, the 2000s by Adam Hughes and the 2010’s by Jim Lee and Scott Williams. The issue has a price tag of $9.99, so to get all the variant issues you’re looking at about $80 dollars. So get your christmas money!

Kevin Smith is currently out touring with his new movie Jay & Silent Bob Reboot, by the way, I went to see it during the Fathom Events presentation . It’s a good movie. Lots of laughs anyway.  Before they went on tour, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes got the honor of putting their hands and feet in wet cement outside the TCL chinese theater Kevin told the crowd about is first visit to the theater quote “We came here to the courtyard in 1979,” “My old man was looking at the footprints and he saw me looking at the footprints and putting my hands in the handprints and stuff, and he goes, ‘Maybe you’ll be here one day.’ It’s 40 years from that moment when my father said it.” Kevin even brought an urn with his dad’s ashes to the ceremony and he even put the bottom of the urn in the cemement. Mewes called it super surreal to be honored by the theater. They were also honored by Ben Affleck as well.  Well deserved.

You remember the run time for It and how I said you should find a theater with recliner seats? Well you might wanna do the same for the adaptation of Doctor Sleep, Stephen King’s sequel to The Shining. The AMC website has confirmed that the run time for the movie is two hours and thirty two minutes. I might recommend not getting the big drink either.

Sources tell the Hollywood reporter that Sony studio chairman Tom Rothman might be looking to sell the He-Man movie Masters of the Universe exclusively to Netflix. Sony has been developing Masters of the Universe since 2007 and Netflix DOES have the She-Ra and He-Man animated series. These rumors do come a month after Sony sold off the adaptation of the Valiant comic Harbinger.  Well if something happens, we will let you know.

I have a friend who’s very happy to hear this news. Netflix will be producing an animated series based on Jeff Smith’s comic book series Bone. Jeff Smith in the press release said quote“I’ve waited a long time for this,“Netflix is the perfect home for Bone. Fans of the books know that the story develops chapter-by-chapter and book-by-book. An animated series is exactly the way to do this! The team at Netflix understands Bone and is committed to doing something special — this is good news for kids and cartoon lovers all over the world.” unquote Bone, which follows the adventurers of the Bone cousins was published from 1991 to 2004 and is one of Time Magazine’s 10 best graphic novels of all time.

As well as creating Saved by the Bell, he wrote for such shows as Get Smart, The Flintsontes, The Andy Griffith Show and The Dick Van Dyke show. Recently he had been working on a reboot of Saved for NBC’s Peacock streaming service.  Sam was 87.
