Show Notes: Episode 48:Opening a Channel to The Orville & Episode 49: Dancing Down the Joker Steps

Tonight! Ewan McGregor finally gets to spill the beans, Could Janeway get a monument? And we talk about The Orville with a special guest  on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the scifi edition of Multiverse Tonight.

So how was your Halloween? My wife and I had about 50 kids over the night. Not a lot of costumes as it was kinda cold. And then we had the time warp again a few days later, Daylight Savings time needs to be abolished. It’s no good for anyone. Especially me, I don’t get an extra hour of sleep, I get an extra hour of work at my job.

This episode we have an interview with Tom Costantino. An interview that we would have recorded last week except, he had to prep his family for a voluntary evacuation from a fire that was in the LA area.

Anyway, Let’s start with the news…

Star Wars

We start with Star Wars news and Ewan McGregor who must feel so much better now that the news has been announced that he will be returning to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for a Disney Plus series. The actor told Men’s Journal that quote “It’s a fucking massive relief,” “Because for four years, I’ve been having to lie to people about it.” unquote. However he’s only being allowed to say that the show will be six hour long episodes. He also reveals that the story quote sits between Episode III and Episode IV unquote He also wants to quote “…get closer and closer to how Obi-Wan felt while Alec Guinness was playing him. I feel like I’m grayer and nearer him in age, so it’ll be easier to do that.” unquote  I can see it. Right now ewan is just 17 years younger than Alec Guiness was when the film debuted.

Filming on the show will start in the summer of 2020 and will debut on Disney Plus in 2021.

The trailer for the Rise of Skywalker was big news and now the movie is showing up in everything including The United Airlines In Flight Safety video

https://youtu.be/21hbvm69i4k

And speaking of the movie it smashed pre sale records in its first 24 hours, the JJ Abrams helmed movie has racked up more advanced ticket sales than any previous title in the series according to Atom tickets. Tickets went on sale after the trailer was released during Monday Night Football. It is also Atom tickets second biggest title in first day sales behind Avengers Endgame and has sold two and a half as many tickets as The Last Jedi. Although this has come with controversy from some circles saying that some entity bought up tickets in blocks in order to achieve this. I try to stay out of rumors until I see actual proof.

In a stunner this past Tuesday, it was reported that Game of Thrones tv creators David Benioff and DB Weiss are out of a planned new Star Wars trilogy that had been announced over a year ago. Benioff and Weiss in a statement said quote “We love Star Wars. When George Lucas built it, he built us too,” . “Getting to talk about Star Wars with him and the current Star Wars team was the thrill of a lifetime, and we will always be indebted to the saga that changed everything. But there are only so many hours in the day, and we felt we could not do justice to both Star Wars and our Netflix projects. So we are regretfully stepping away.” The first of the trilogy would have been out on December  sixteenth of 2022. This news comes after last months revelation that Kevin Feige was developing a Star Wars movie. Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm did express her appreciation of Benioff and Weiss and hoped to work with them in the future when their schedules weren’t so busy. However the duo did just sign a five year two hundred fifty million dollar deal with Netflix, so I guess they will be tied up for some time. Maybe Disney and Lucasfilm should ask for open submissions for the next trilogy?

So why have so many directors come and gone from the franchise? Apparently the answer might be creative control. According to a piece in Variety, in the beginning the filmmakers were promised a level of creative control. However multiple insiders that talked to Variety new ideas were commonly shot down as it seems that Kenedy and her team wanted people to stick to the company line.

Benioff and Weiss would have explored the distant past of the universe to explore how the Jedi came to be.  However the studio and the pair started to diverge on their vision for the new trilogy

Apparently the final straw was after pair signed their deal with Netflix, and Kathleen Kennedy not believing that they could focus on both projects at the same time.

I’m not going to recap the entire article here, but the article is fascinating and there’ll be a link to it in the show notes. https://variety.com/2019/film/features/star-wars-kathleen-kennedy-david-benioff-db-weiss-1203388611/

Star Trek

Annd will be installed on Bloomington’s B-Line Trailer The campaign is sponsored by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority and is now live on Patronicity. Artisan Alley leads the campaign with permission from CBS Studios.  If they achieve their goal of at least 12,500 by December 21st, they will receive a matching grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series has a main villain. The series has cast Game of Thrones Joseph Mawley according to sources to the Hollywood reporter. Mawle is believed to be playing a character named Oren. He joins Will Poulter and Markella Kavenagh in the cast. Production on the show is set to begin in 2020.

Stranger Things fourth season will consist of eight episodes. But the next season is still a ways off, Filming will start in January and will wrap in August. So we won’t have a summer premiere like the last season. Maybe a Halloween debut?

Netflix has released some preview photos for it’s new vampire series V Wars, based on the book series by Jonathan Maberry. The series follows a doctor and his best friend who has been transformed into a vampiric predator. Ian Somerhalder plays Dr. Luther Swann and Adrian Holmes plays Michael Fayne. Here’s the official synopsisDr. Luther Swann (Ian Somerhalder) enters a world of untold horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes), into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans. As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these “vampires.” Swann races against time to understand what’s happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires. Unquote The ten episode first season will arrive on Netflix on December fifth. Just in time for Christmas.

Speaking of Netflix, they have renewed Katee Sackhoff’s series Another Life for season two. The series, which centers on Sackhoff’s astronaut Niko Breckinridge and her crew as they take on a high risk mission to investigate and alien artifact and find extraterrestrial intelligence. The ten episode season will begin production in 2020. Season one is out now.

Disney Plus will not rotate it’s content like other streaming service once the service debuts on the eleventh. A spokesman for Disney Plus confirmed to comicbook dot com that nothing licensed will be rotated each month and nothing from Disney’s Signature Collection will be rotated in or out. This is a change from the past when Disney used to bring out a classic movie for a limited time and the then put it back in the quote “Disney Vault” unquote

Let’s get to that interview with The Orville Associate Producer and Editor Tom Costantino.

Thomas Townley: My guest today is part of one of my favorite shows, The Orville. He joins us from the Fox studio lot in Los Angeles. Please walk up my associate producer and editor Tom Costantino.

Tom Costantino: Yes, thank you. Actually they gave me a bump. It’s co-producer, hope producer.

Thomas Townley: Well, congratulations.

Tom Costantino: Oh yeah, it’s just a more, more work. [inaudible]

Thomas Townley: okay. Now, well, start off by telling us more about yourself and what you do on the show.

Tom Costantino: Uh, well I, uh, I’m, I’m happy to also be the supervising editor. I started on the pilots and have been here ever since. Um, I’m sort of in charge of all picture cutting and uh, I have some various other responsibilities which some above some of the things with social media, uh, comic con, uh, and a lot of other minutiae that I would never dare to bore you with. But uh, there is a lot, there’s a lot of big shows, so there’s a lot to do. So we all, it’s all hands on deck.

Thomas Townley: Okay. And what would you say this is the best part of your job?

Tom Costantino: Best part of my job actually is doing stuff like this, getting, having, having a real time interaction with, um, with uh, people who are very appreciative of the show and just, and, and also the fact that I’m a huge, you know, I mean I’m a huge scifi nerd and star Trek fan and I never thought that this font of useless information somehow earned me a living.

Thomas Townley: Well, I am deeply honored. Um, now some news dropped yesterday, deadline.com reported that Anne Winters as joining the cast as a series regular. Can you tell me anything about what her role is on the show?

Tom Costantino: I, unfortunately, I can’t, but she does play an integral part of the show and she’s awesome. Uh, sitting behind you. I have some dailies of her and, uh, yeah, we’re happy to, happy to have her. Um, but, uh, you know, a contrary to popular opinion. She’s not replacing Adrian. That’s all I’m going to say. That’s that. No, she’s a, yeah, she’s a, she’ll be with us, uh, this season and she’s gonna fit right into this crazy cookie bunch.

Thomas Townley: Awesome. And, uh, well, right now, where are you in the filming of the season?

Tom Costantino: Uh, we are, we are, uh, we’re, we’re only a few weeks into filming, uh, and we’re, uh, you know, we’re working on the first episode and some of the, uh, some subsequent other early episodes, uh, were not quite block shooting, but we’re trying to, you know, uh, you know, gather as much material as possible. Um, so, uh, yeah, we’re, we’re basically part of the way through the first episode and some others, not much past the third. Okay. It’s a nonlinear answer to a two or a nonlinear question. The, normally I would say, you know, I would have a more definitive answer, but we’re, we’re trying to gather as much material as possible.

Thomas Townley: Oh yeah. And, uh, I know, I know you have an, an NDA. There’s not really much you can tell us. Is there, is there any way, any kind of a hint you can give us.

Tom Costantino: about.

Thomas Townley: anything.

Tom Costantino: specifically? Uh, well, I kind of said this before, so I don’t want to be cliche, but, uh, you know, a lot of the, a lot of the story threads that people were loving in season two and season one, they will not be forgotten. You know, we’re not going to ever be serialized. It’s not our, it’s not our style, but we, we’re not going to forget our history. So I can totally say that. And you know, uh, I, I, this has been said before, but, but it’s true. You know, we had an identity part two and uh, tomorrow, sorry, that’s tomorrow. That’s the 12th day you have a road not taken. You know, we had like two of those and then some other ones, but now we have like seven of them. So…

Thomas Townley: Awesome.

Tom Costantino: Yeah. So we’re bigger.

Thomas Townley: Okay. And, uh, was kinda been your favorite episode so far?

Tom Costantino: Yeah. Ever?

Thomas Townley: Yeah.

Tom Costantino: Uh, you know, it’s a fight for me between, I mean, they’re, they’re all our babies, but, uh, you know, I have a soft spot for the Clare Isaac narrative, so I always will love , Into the Fold and A Happy Refrain, but I thought, you know, having to sit on the finale, uh, you know, that was, that was the most gratifying to sort of like live scroll that on Twitter and, and uh, so, so, but, uh, but I mean, as for my softspot, I would say it’s A Happy Refrain.

Thomas Townley: Cool. And, uh, has, as we know, this, uh, third season is going onto Hulu and they sent you some cookies I saw.

Tom Costantino: Yeah. Oh, good. Oh good. They looked good. Yeah, they’re sure. And they were like, they were like a shortbread cookies or something. I got one of the last ones. I didn’t even take that picture.

Thomas Townley: And, uh, also since, uh, Fox(sic, Disney) has merged with Hulu. Has, has Disney had any kind of contact or influence on the show yet?

Tom Costantino: Uh, yeah, I wouldn’t say influenced, but they’ve been very receptive. Uh, you know, we had a kickoff meeting with them, sort of catching them up on stuff. I mean, uh, you know,It’s mostly business as usual. We, we’ve been pretty lucky in terms of like, Fox has been really understanding in terms of, you know, what the show is and how much larger it can be than sort of network shows. And that’s why they kind of, you know, allowed the Hulu transition. And um, yeah, I mean there hasn’t been any sort of like, you know, any, I mean, I think people make bigger, not you personally, but they make bigger stories or like, you know, like, Oh my God, the corporate overlords are coming in. No, no, it’s not, you know, it’s not like that. I mean, there’s definitely infrastructure changes and really boring stuff, but everyone’s been pretty supportive so far. I, it’s, it’s, you know, it’s hard to, it’s hard to deny cause I’ve heard of other situations, but now granted we’re early into it. I mean, who knows? Ask me again in a year.

Thomas Townley: Okay. And, uh, well since you’re under the Disney umbrella, the Muppets are also under that Disney umbrella as well. Could you see other Muppets or than Kermit show up on the show, perhaps in the environment simulator?

Tom Costantino: Oh my God. I don’t know if we’ve ever, ever explored that a, I think we did get Kermit cleared. Um, I think there’s probably some legal loopholes we’ve got to get through, but I would also say that we probably have some other, probably pretty fun guest stars and other things before we’ll get to the Kermit stuff and the miss piggy stuff. However, that would be awesome to recreate that in the simulator.

Thomas Townley: Yeah. You don’t want, you know, I like to see, I’d like to see Ed jamming with Rowlf the dog.

Tom Costantino: Really? Yeah, I’ll mention that to Seth.

Thomas Townley: Yeah, that would, I think would be, that would be a really cool combo right there.

Tom Costantino: I love Rowlf.

Thomas Townley: Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

Tom Costantino: Originally. I mean, I’m assuming, I’m assuming maybe we can do, maybe we can link some of them with pigs in space or something and then we’re like, we’relike [inaudible]

Thomas Townley: Ooh, that’d be, that’d be cool right there. That’d be awesome. Um, okay, now you’re, you’re in your third season. Do you see, could you see any chance of an Orville movie in the far future?

Tom Costantino: Yeah, I mean, be honest if, if, if everyone’s willing and Seth is, it’s really, if Seth has it in him and, and, and the fates are right, sure. Why not? I think we’re all open. We’re all here as a labor of love. So I would imagine if, if he wanted to do it and people wanted to pay for it, that we would all stick around and try and, you know, blow people’s socks off for two hours and some odd minutes.

Thomas Townley: All right,

Tom Costantino: now I won’t rule it out.

Thomas Townley: Now let’s take a take a turn into merchandising here. Now the Orville has a comic books from Dark Horse comics and they’ve been very well received. Are there any plans for a novel based on the series?

Tom Costantino: Plans for a novel…. You know, I will, I will get you an answer. I don’t, I have not heard anything about a novel. I know that there might be more things in the vein of comic books, but if anywhere person were to do it, it would be, it would be Mr. David Goodman, Uber talented David Goodman. So next time I see him I will ask him, which will probably be tomorrow because I’ll see him on set.

Thomas Townley: Cool.

Tom Costantino: But that’s a good question. I actually actually don’t know. You know, we’re just starting to see fan films, which is exciting. So I’m just going to have that.

Thomas Townley: [inaudible] cause cause that would, that would really go over well with me. I love, I love the old star Trek novels.

Tom Costantino: really.

Thomas Townley: back in the day and, and the Orville would seem like something that would go great with a novel.

Tom Costantino: Well, I think the comic was that basic idea, but I could imagine a world where, you know, where that, that can happen. But, uh, I, it’s funny, it’s one of those, it’s one of the few loopholes. I haven’t really, one of the things I haven’t really heard much about or been involved or there’s toys and other things come on away, but, uh, that I will check into.

Thomas Townley: Excellent. And finally, what is your favorite scifi show? Other than The Orville?

Tom Costantino: *grabs a Battlestar Galactica Colonel Viper ship and slaps it on the desk*

Thomas Townley: Battlestar Galactica.

Tom Costantino: I rarely have a visual aid, but you happen that I don’t know if you time that, but yeah, yeah, no, I mean, of course I love star Wars and you know, all these old Star Wars and uh, I mean, I, I mean as fan I like some more obscure stuff, but uh, you know, like the black hole and stuff. But, but the, uh, more than anything, these guys also have Doug Drexler down the hall. He gave me this. So cool. You know, that’s the most exciting thing so far of being able to interact with my, I don’t want to make them that much older than me, my childhood hero, but my hero of postproduction and makeup. So yes, I would say BSG.

Thomas Townley: Alright, awesome. Well, thank you very much for your time, Tom. And the…

Tom Costantino: I’m saying this publicly, apologize about the fires last week. Kind of screwed up our last meeting.

Thomas Townley: Oh, that’s it. That’s okay. You know, I hope you and everyone out there stay safe during the wildfire season. And uh, I hope we can talk again once the Orville debuts on Hulu next year.

Tom Costantino: Yes, please. We’d love to, I’ll bring, I’ll bring some friends. We’ll do, we’ll do some more and uh, but before then I will definitely get you to answer about the novels.

Thomas Townley: Oh, cool. Thank you. Thank you very much.

Tom Costantino: Alright, you have a good one.

Thomas Townley: You too.

Tom Costantino: We’ll talk soon. All right, bye.

Good interview.

Episode 49

Tonight! The Bronx says stop dancing down our steps, Superman gets a new series and The Spiderverse comes again on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the comics edition of Multiverse Tonight.

A few days ago I started playing Luigi’s Mansion 3 for the Nintendo Switch and it’s a very good game. However it is one that you will need to limber up your fingers for it. It uses almost all the buttons in rapid succession.

By the way, if you’ve been watching HBO’s Watchmen, be sure to look at the Peteypedia on the shows website. It’s full of all sorts of backgoround on what’s happening in that weeks episode.

I hope you tuned into the last episode, I had a great interview with Associate Producer and Editor Tom Constantino from the Orville, if you wanna hear what he said, just go back one episode in the feed.

Let’s get one with the news

DC

So you love the Joker movie and want to recreate Joaquin Phoenix’s dance down that set of stairs. That set of stairs is in the Bronx neighborhood of New York  at the corner of Shakespeare and Anderson in Highbridge and you might not want to go there. According to a report, residents of the community aren’t thrilled with the attention and one man decided to send a message by throwing eggs at some of the tourists descending the staircase. The man even videode himself and uploaded it to twitter shouting at the people quote “Y’all not spending no money in my store, but come and take pictures. Get the f*** out of here!” unquote In other words, be kind, spend a dime.

Brandon Routh is saying Goodbye to Legends of Tomorrow. The Former Superman, current The Atom star said goodbye via Instagram saying quote “My final day of filming with my #LegendsFamily. I love you all & appreciate the 5 seasons we’ve spent together.

It hasn’t always been easy, but I think that’s what makes it harder to leave—getting through the growing pains of the first few seasons has bonded us. 👊🏻 And made the last three seasons a blast! I’ve never been at a job this long, so this is new for me. 😢 I think I will miss you all and the fun we’ve had making this silly show on the #Waverider—as much as I’ll miss bringing #RayPalmer to life. Love & blessings on a great finish to the season. 🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️”

Both Routh and his wife Courney Ford who plays Nora Darhk are leaving the series. Series Executive Producers Phill Klemmer, Grainne Godfree and Keto Shimizu told Deadline quote “Brandon and Courtney have been invaluable members of the Legends family,” “They have always brought a level of passion and collaboration to their characters and to the show — both on and off the screen – that we deeply admire and for which we are eternally grateful.”

Speaking of endings. Arrow co-creator took to Twitter to explain the meaning behind the series finale’s title “Fadeout” in the post he displayed a drawing of a bow with callouts to what all the parts of the weapon . He circled the bottom of the bow which is called the Fadeout. Wonder if Starling city will be destroyed one time…

Warner Bros tangentially Batman related Joker has passed Deadpool 2 to become the highest rated R rated movie. The film has totaled over 790 million dollars.. Deadpool 2 grossed in 785 million last year and the first deadpool garnered 782 million. Ryan Renolds congratulated Joker with a tweet saying quote “R-rated box office congratulatory posts aren’t like the ones you’re used to.” unquote . That was because it came with a redone pic of the movie poster with the words you mother f*cker , heart Deadpool , Neo, Pennywise, Jesus, Hugh Jackman, the Wolfpack, Mr. Grey, Ted

Batwoman’s ratings have slowly slipped down since the premiere, but the CW has confidence in the show giving it and Nancy Drew full season pickups. CW went on to emphasize that both shows Plus 3 and Plus 7 numbers are doing good. With double digit gains. Not only have they given batwoman a full season they have extended the season order from 13 to 22.

Lucifer is in the midst of filming its final season and Kelly Calrkson on her talk show got to visit the set with her mother and sister, while there Tom Ellis announced that the sixteen episode season will be split in two saying quote “Season 5 of Lucifer is going to be split into two halves. Netflix are gonna drop eight episodes and then there’s gonna be a little break, and then they’re gonna drop another eight episodes.” unquote There will also be a special black and white 1940’s themed episode with a musical flair. The release date has not been announced.

Wonder Woman 1984 director has all but confirmed that Pedro Pascal will play Maxwell Lord. She tweeted a pic of the character from the comics with “Well hello…Max” #WW1984 she tagged Pedro Pascal in the post, which is what is leading the speculation that Pedro will be Max.  The character was created back in 1987 and debuted in Justice League number one. He was first just a backer of the league but later turned into a more sinister character. Wonder Woman 1984 opens in theaters on June fifth, 2020. Seems like they better get crackin on that movie…

Superman is returning to tv. Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch will play the titular characters in Superman & Lois. Former Flash showrunner todd Helbing will be writing and executive producing the new series. And will follow Lois and Clark as they deal with all the problems of being working parents in today’s society. Of course, you know that Greg Brelanti will be executive producing the show alongside Helbing, Berlanti Productions Sarah Schechter and DC’s Geoff Johns.

The CW is also working on a female focused arrow spinoff with Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy. So when will the CW just become the DCW already.

Marvel

One of the best jokes in Avengers Endgame was Captain America looking at his past self lying face down on the ground and remarking “This is America’s Ass. In an interview with Syfy Wire Endgame writer Christopher Marcus explained that originally it was only Tony Stark and Ant-man on the joke. But then it grew. He told them quote “It sort of grew on its own,” “The first thing that was there was Tony looking at Cap’s terrible Avengers outfit and going, ‘that suit does nothing for your ass.’ That stood on its own for a while, and then Ant-Man was added to the scene, and he said, ‘I think that’s America’s ass.’ And that was the joke for a while.” unquote His writing partner Stephen McFeely decided to add Cap in on the joke during the reshoots he told Syfy Wire quote “We redid the Cap on Cap fight, the ending of it, and that helped us tremendously,” “And then we needed to get out of that scene a little differently, and there [2012 Cap] was, slumped on the ground with his butt in the air.” unquote And movie magic was born.

By the way, Christopher Markus also talked with CinemaBlend and told the site that he would like to see MODOK as the next big bad. Quote “I always go back to the guy I always want to see on screen, which is MODOK,” “Also, part of me… it’s hard to say if he was officially destroyed, I wouldn’t mind seeing a third incarnation of Zola. Now in a robotic body. We got him from human to face on screen, I’d like him to get mobile now. I can’t say that’s going to happen, but it’d be fun.”

MODOK aka Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing was originally a guy named George Tarleton who was mutated after an accident that made his head huge and required a special hoverchair to move around. He first appeared in Tales of Suspense #93 back in 1967.

Sony announced on Halloween, the sequel to the Oscar award winning Spider-man into the Spider-verse will come to theaters on April 8th, 2022. The team of Lord and Miller will be back for the sequel. They also announced that another Sony Pictures animation project, a musical adventure story called Vivo that has songs from lin-Manuel Miranda will be pushed back to April 2021. Vivo was a project they acquired from Dreamworks and centers on a capuchin capuchin monkey with a thirst for adventure – and a passion for music – who makes a treacherous passage from Havana to Miami to fulfill his destiny. Quiara Alegría Hudes, Miranda’s collaborator on In the Heights, wrote the script with  The Croods director Kirk De Micco is directing.

A report from variety might spell a problem for Marvel’s Hawkeye series. Hailee Steinfeld is supposed to be up for the lead role in the series, but  she already has a role on Apple Plus’ Dickenson. When asked about it at the premiere for the show, she played coy about it saying quote “That, I don’t know about!” she said, seemingly caught off guard. “I don’t know,”“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Sources have told Variety that her deal with Apple might preclude her taking a role on a competing streaming service, although her team could always negotiate a fix for that.

If more detail comes out, I’ll let you know.

Some Marvel comics news, The X-Men comic lineup is expanding. THe two new titles were announced at the MCM comic con in London. The first will star Jean Grey and emma frost with art by Russell dautherman.

Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger will not see a third season. The Freeform series has been canceled, possible due to the shakeup at Marvel Television with the departure of Jeph Loeb. Series creator and showrunner Joe Pokaski shared his feelings were everyone does. Twitter. Now this is a long post, so I’m only gonna give you a little of it. The rest you can read via a link in our show notes. https://twitter.com/JoePokaski/status/1187500131735572482?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1187500131735572482&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cbr.com%2Fcloak-dagger-showrunner-reacts-cancellation%2F

He said quote So, yeah.  There are parts of me that feel gut-punched or angry at larger corporate forces, but the biggest feeling I have in my heart right now, by far, is pride.   I’m so fucking proud with what we got to do on unquote .

The Tom & Jerry movie has been moved forward on the calendar to December 23, 2020 the live action animated movie was supposed to come out in April of 2021. The movie is about Tom and Jerry getting kicked out of their home and moving to a new york hotel where Chloe Grace Moretz’s character must evict Jerry of lose her job… and hilarity ensues I guess. The film also features Michael Pena, Ken Jeong, Jordan Bolger and Pallavi Sharda.

The Muppets are getting their own talk show on Disney Plus. The show will be executive produced by Brian Henson and Vince Raisa from The Jim Henson Company and Joseph Freed and Allison Berkley from Marwar Junction Prods.

Actor David Dastmalchian has a new comic book out the actor created the book, called Count Crowley: reluctant midnight monster hunter while on the set of Dune. he told the hollywood reporter quote “I was on break, sitting in my trailer, and I started jotting down this idea that had been woken up in me,” unquote the comic is set in 1983 and centers on a character named Jerri Bateman who ends up hosting a nightly Creature Feature on a small midwest station but soon learns that the job also includes hunting down monsters that are trying to control the world’s news and information.  The titular Count Crowley, her predecessor went missing.

David said of the series quote “I’m dealing with all these issues relevant to my own sobriety,” “My own struggles with interpersonal relationships. The way I relate to my family, dealing with feelings of shame, guilt, the giant growing pains we’re going through as society as a whole, and thinking about how all that filters through the metaphor of monsters battling monsters.” unquote

The comic is out now.

Comedy Central has ordered a new animated web series from Bobby Moynihan called Loafy. Loafy is an animated comedy about a weed dealing manatee running a drug empire out of the Central Park Zoo. Bobby will write, act  and executive produce the series alongside Big Breakfasts Luke Kelly-Clyne. This show joins Blark and Son from Stoopid Buddy stoodios. Comedy Central VP of digital original development Steve elliot said quote “We are so excited for both of these series as we continue add(ing) original content to our growing digital portfolio,” said Comedy Central vp digital original development Steve Elliott. “It’s a great opportunity to work with Adam and Ben again after the success of the first season of Blark and Son. And clearly, now more than ever, the world needs a weed-dealing manatee and more Bobby Moynihan — not necessarily in that order.”

So let’s look at this past weekend’s box office.

Multiverse Tonight Episode 42Sci Fi Edition

Tonight! Fans want a statue for Nog, Picard and Discovery hit New York Comic Con and the Walking Dead Universe gets an unsurprising name all that and more  on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the scifi edition of Multiverse Tonight. So, how’s the new fall season hitting you. The wife and I have gotten into Evil on CBS. We’re glad that the Good Place is back on.

So here’s a question for you? Is ten years too long to do a sequel? Zombieland Double Tap is coming out, the first one was ten years ago. And I find myself asking the question, is this too long to come out with the sequel. To prove that it’s too long, let’s take Independence Day Resurgence. Was a good movie, could have been a great movie, but it was just too long from the first movie to this one. The first one was in 1996, the sequel 20 years later, 2016. In other words, twenty years might  be too long. It might have been better to just relaunch the series with a new movie. Or maybe they should have put out the first back into theaters a month before first? Get people remembering the first one and then released the sequel? Either way, let’s come up with a rule, 20 years is too long. Will ten be too long? I guess we will see shortly. Personally, I think a sequel shouldn’t be more than 5 years after the previous one. More than that, you have to either reboot the whole thing or re release the previous one in wide release. Anyway, let’s get on with the news.

Star Trek

As we discussed in the last edition, the loss of Aron Eisenberg was sudden and it really hit the fan base hard. The outpouring of grief has been great and Some Star Trek fans have taken the initiative and have put up a petition on change dot org to have a statue of Captain Nog on display at Starfleet Academy in a future season of Star Trek Picard. It would make sense timeline wise as the show takes place decades after Deep Space Nine and the time period when Nog would or could  have been Captain. So far over two thousand six hundred have signed. We will have a link to the petition in the show notes. https://www.change.org/p/star-trek-creators-producers-fans-of-aron-petition-to-make-captain-nog-statue-at-starfleet-acadamy-canon-in-the-new-picard-series?recruiter=251534001&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_initial&utm_term=psf_combo_share_initial&recruited_by_id=a6e88f00-c882-11e4-9219-e937fb5329ea

Asked at NYCC if Captain Nog could possibly be made cannon Alex Kurtzman said quote We saw that petition and obviously we would love to honor Aaron in any way possible, so we will look for any opportunity,” unquote So I’m guessing we see something in Picard season two. Perhaps we could get a mention in Lower Decks?

The second season of Picard, which has been revealed by Sir Patrick will start production in March of next year. He spoke about the show at the University of Huddersfield in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. Speaking to Examiner Live Mister Stewart said quote“I am not giving up my stage work, though it may have to wait for now because there are three projects that I have finished, two films and the TV series, which all need promotion,” . “So I am clearing the decks for that and then there is also the possibility of a second Picard series filming in March next year.” unquote The show is eagerly awaited and will start airing on CBS All Access on January twenty third 2020 I wanna see this more than Discovery.

Star Trek Voyager’s commanding officer Kate Mulgrew took time out to commemorate the twenty fifth anniversary of her first ever scenes as Captain Kathern Janeway. She wrote on Facebook quote “It’s come to my attention that on this day, 25 years ago, I filmed my first scenes as Captain Janeway,”. “Thus, 25 years ago today I walked onto the Bridge and my life changed utterly. A singularly privileged and extraordinary journey on that intrepid vessel, with my beloved crew. How lucky I have been.” unquote. It should be noted that she was the second to take the role after actress Genevieve Bujold quit a few days into filming. Congratulations to the cast and crew of Voyager on the anniversary. Maybe we’ll get to see more Voyager characters in Picard than just Seven of Nine. Like Lieutenant JG Harry Kim?

New York Comic Con has brought us some news on Discovery and Picard. They released new trailers for both and CBS ALL Access has released the first short trek. Frankly I wouldn’t pay for Short Treks until Picard comes out, we got a release date. January twenty third 2020. The trailer seemed to confirm my suspicion that Data is just in Picard’s dreams. We also see our first look at old man Riker and Troi. Looks like they’re in retirement as well. So, let me take a moment to dissect the trailer. First off, it kinda confirms my suspicion that Data is just a dream of Picard’s. Two it looks like Starfleet Admirals are still a bunch of hardasses. Third I’m guessing he goes to The Rikers for help and they either turn him down or give him someone else to turn to for help.  Finally, we see a damaged Borg cube, we know we have two Ex Borg on this journey. So how do the Borg factor into this story, or is this just a side quest to Picard’s mission?

In the Discovery trailer, it looks like Burnham and the ship didn’t arrive at the same time. It also hints that the Federation might have collapsed at some point in the future as well. I’m gonna guess the Discovery will have to help rebuild the Federation. So I guess we’ll see sometime in 2020 when the show returns.

Just wish they had something to show from Lower Decks,

Star Wars

Not often do I dip into politics on this show and for good reason, but the New York Times Opinion twitter feed, posted something cute after the United States House of Representatives finally opened an impeachment inquiry into the possible high crimes of Donald Trump, put up an informational  little Star Wars like crawl entitled “The Last Straw”. It’s very cute and I’ll have a link to it in the show notes. https://twitter.com/i/status/1177383602792927232

Disney Plus’ Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which should really be titled O! Kenobi. Has found a director, Deborah Chow, who has just finished up work on The Mandalorians first season will be directing on the show which will see Ewan McGregor back in Obi-Wan’s boots and finds the Jedi in Hiding eight years after the events of revenge of the sith. No word on when they get to work yet or what the plot exactly is. I wonder if we’ll get to see Luke, he should be about eight years old right? Maybe the show is Obi-Wan taking Luke on adventures. I hope it’s not just Obi Wan watching Luke through binoculars….cause that’s just creepy.

Kevin Feige’s newly announced Star Wars film is big news maker lately and Ming-Na Wen and Chris Evans want in.  Chris Evans volunteered for Feige’s project on Twitter in response to a Collider story asking which MCU actor people would want to see in a Star Wars movie. Evans replied with one word quote Me unquote .  Ming Na Wen chimed in to Chris’ response with her own quote Me Too #StarWars unquote. Wen is already expected to appear in The Mandalorian and has more than enough geek cred to be a good choice for a role in this new film. Would you like to see Ming Na Wen or Chis Evans in this project? Who else would be a good choice for a new Star Wars movie? Let me know on twitter, email or Instagram.

So… what’s in the future for everyone’s favorite wookie Chewbacca? Chewie actor Joonas Suotamo spoke with Radio Times about The Rise of Skywalker and Chewie’s role, but he played it very close to the vest saying quote “Well, we’re going to have to wait and see.” Refusing to confirm or deny Chewbacca’s fate, “I would love to see Chewie more, but everything depends on this next film and the story.” unquote . He might have been quiet on Chewies role, he did have glowing words for the movie telling the site quote “It’s a great story, and we’re gonna have to wait until December to see what that’s all about. Everyone’s back together, they’re going on a great adventure together, facing the ever-growing danger from the First Order. And that’s gonna be something to see.” unquote  Hopefully we might see Chewie in The Mandalorian. Frankly it would be nice to have a Chewie animated series.

Remember in the Force Awakens when Kylo destroyed his helmet? Well he unbroke it. JJ Abrams addressed his helmet, which you can see in the trailer and the new action figure that just came out on Force Friday. Abrams told Empire Magazine quote “Having him be masked, but also fractured, is a very intentional thing,” “Like that classic Japanese process of taking ceramics and repairing them, and how the breaks in a way define the beauty of the piece as much as the original itself. As fracted as Ren is, the mask becomes a visual representation of that. There’s something about this that tells his history. His mask doesn’t ultimately hide him and his behavior is revealed.”  They should have made a short film of him supergluing the mask back together. Hey Robot Chicken, there’s a free sketch idea for you! Your welcome.

Force Friday has arrived and the new Star Wars toys have arrived. https://ew.com/movies/star-wars-rise-of-skywalker-toys/?slide=6520926#6520926

Marvel will be relaunching the Star Wars comic book this January with a new creative team and story Lucasfilm confirmed at NYCC. The new series will take place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and will have Charles Soule as writer and art by Jesus Saiz. The official press release describes the new series as quote “In the wake of the events following The Empire Strikes Back, it is a dark time for the heroes of the Rebellion. The Rebel fleet…scattered following a disastrous defeat at the Battle of Hoth. Han Solo…lost to the bounty hunter, Boba Fett, after being frozen in carbonite. And after being lured into a trap on Cloud City and bested in a vicious lightsaber duel against the evil Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker…learned the horrible truth about his past. Vader did not kill Luke’s father Anakin–Vader is Luke’s father! Now, after narrowly escaping the dark lord’s clutches, and wounded and reeling from the revelation, Luke, Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, the Wookiee Chewbacca and the droids C-3PO and R2-D2 must fight their way back to the Rebel Alliance—for the fate of the entire galaxy is at stake! After so many losses is victory still possible? But, what Leia, Luke and their ragtag band of freedom fighters do not realize is that they have only traded one Imperial trap for another! Enter the cunning and vengeful Imperial Commander Zahra, at the helm of the Tarkin’s Will!” unquote I’m surprised they would name anything after Grand Moff Tarkin after the death star blew up.

The third season of Stranger Things has come and gone. People waited in anticipation for news of Season Four. Well, your pleas have been answered. Season Four has been announced by Netflix with a new teaser trailer. The video ends with the cryptic “We’re not in Hawkins anymore,”. Road Trip! No date when the next season will arrive, but it’s likely in late 2020 or 2021.

The second season for Snowpiercer has been moved back to TNT, Warner Media announced this past week, the show based on the film had been announced to move from TNT to TBS The show has not had an easy life having lost two showrunners and two directors already. According to the Hollywood reporter, Chief Content Officer of HBO Max and President of TNT, TBS and TruTV Kevin Reilly explained quote “We’ve had the unique opportunity to more thoroughly test and explore where this show will best perform. While we are still adding dramas to TBS (such as Obliterated), after further research and consideration we’ve decided to keep Snowpiercer on TNT,” he said in a statement announcing the news. “Now that we’ve seen this incredible post-apocalyptic sci-fi series in its entirety, and better understand the audience this show will appeal to, we’re confident it will perform strongest on TNT.”A release date for season two has not been announced but the second season should arrive in Spring 2020.

Disney will apparently be making another live-action Inspector Gadget movie according to a report from the hollywood reporter. The movie will be produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich who produced the live action Aladdin movie, Mikey Day and Streeter Sidell will write the script. The film, based on the 80’s cartoons about a detective full of gadgets last saw the big screen in 1999 with Matthew Broderieck in the role. It…didn’t perform great.  But merited a direct to DVD sequel a few years later. Disney is busy making live action versions of cartoon classics. Lady and the Tramp, Mulan, Cruella, Little Mermaid and Lilo and Stitch are all still on the docket.

The Walking Dead family of shows and movies has an official name and it’s kinda redundant. AMC posted on twitter that the title was The Walking Dead Universe. Wouldn’t the Walkerverse work better? Did they think we would confuse it with Walker Texas Ranger? Walker Texas Ranger by the way is getting a reboot starring Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki.

The showrunner for The Walking Dead is hinting that season ten will have more lighter moments than previously in order to balance out the tone of the show. Kang talking to tvline said quote “There’s a certain amount of fun even though there’s this really, really tense and scary thing that is ramping up with our people,”. “That’s something that we really wanted to explore with our people — a way to blow off steam. We’re all human at the end of the day, and you can’t always be living in a dark, nihilistic state. That’s really difficult. So for our people to be able to have these lighter moments helps them — and it helps the actors, too — deal with the seriousness of everything else that’s happening.” unquote

We also learned at New York Comic Con that Lauren Cohan will be returning to the series.Cohen’s Maggie will return sometime in season 10 and than become a regular character again in season 11

The sequel to the reboot of Halloween. Halloween Kills is bring back characters from the past . Anthony Michael Hall will be back as Tommy Doyle, one of the kids that Laurie Strode was babysitting. Also returning will be Nancy Stephens Nurse Marion Chambers

, who was nearly killed by Michael in the original Halloween. Halloween ends will be in theaters i two years on October fifteenth 2021.

And finally, good news fans of the now Hulu Original Series The Orville, we got some news out of New York Comicon. A panel was held for the show with everyone but the always busy Seth Macfarlane and it was revealed their will be eleven episodes in season 3, now that may seem small, but it was also revealed that the episodes would be longer than they used to be up to twelve to fifteen minutes longer acording to orvile co producer Tom Costantino. The show will return about a year from now in late 2020.

Multiverse Tonight 45 Comic Book edition

Tonight! Sony and Disney get along, Rachael Maddow enters the Arrowverse and Todd McFarlane makes a world record on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the comics edition of Multiverse Tonight. We’ve got a lot of good news in this show today. Fall is here, Winter is fast approaching. I suppose it’s good that I have a lot of things I can do indoors, I’ve picked up a lot of coffee table books, The DC Anatomy of a Metahuman book and Tobin’s Spirit Guide from Insight editions…they were on sale. Good price, nice books.

Marvel

The Black Widow movie is in production and it looks like General Thunderbolt Ross might be showing up. Podcaster @_CharlesMurphy on twitter posted that quote William Hurt, aka Thunderbolt Ross, is currently on the set of what I believe to be additional photography for ‘BLACK WIDOW.’ ScarJo is not believed to be there. Could Ross be visiting with Yelena in a post credit scene setting up a ‘THUNDERBOLTS’ project? That I cannot confirm. Unquote  Last time we saw him was in Endgame paying his respects at the funeral for Tony Stark. Of course, this movie takes place between Captain America Civil War and Infinity War. Is he hunting Natasha after she defected in civil war? His he trying to recruit her for his own team? Guess we’ll have to wait and see when it comes out on May 1st 2020.

Variety reports that with Marvel Studios starting work on tv shows, the fate of Marvel Television seems to be up for some debate. According to several sources that have spoken with Variety, the consensus is that live action productions will all if not mostly be taken away from Jeph Loeb’s Marvel Television division and placed in the more powerful Kevin Feige’s camp in the future. An unknown TV lit agent who spoke to the publication said quote “Feige’s shows are so far beyond anything Marvel TV has been able to do,” “He has access to all of these MCU characters that the other Marvel live-action stuff just doesn’t, not to mention way bigger budgets.”

The budgets for the Marvel Studios projects would probably way higher than Marvel TV gets with budgets probably in the 100 million dollar range for six to eight episodes.. For comparison, the first seasons of Daredevil, Jesica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist combined was around 200 million.

Though Marvel Television has  its share of successes itself , the current slate of shows has atrophied to Runaways on Hulu, Cloak and Dagger at Freeform and the upcoming series Helstrom. However it should be noted that Marvel TV does have a lot of upcoming animated shows in its portfolio, including the new animated shows coming to Hulu.

So, should Marvel Television stick to Animation and leave the TV shows to Marvel Studios instead? Or should they just fold themselves into Marvel Studios? What do you think?

Marvel Comics and Games workshop have announced that they are teaming up to publish comics based on the Warhammer line of tabletop games. Games Workshop announcement on their website posted quote “Marvel Comics are the name behind many of the world’s best-loved superhero characters (you know, like Spider-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four),” Games Workshop stated as part of announcing the news. “With more than 80 years of comics experience, Marvel has built an amazing reputation for bringing together the best comic book writers and artists to forge stories that span generations. It’s not for nothing that Marvel has cemented itself as a household name.” unquote This isn’t Warhammers first foray into comics, having teamed up with Titan Comics, that deal ended last year. No titles, creative teams or release dates have been announced.

Marvel and Sony have made a deal for more Spider-man. Thanks to Spider-man actor Tom Holland. Disney CEO Bob Iger appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Confirmed the actors involvement.  Telling Jimmy quote “We had an event called D23, which is a big Disney fan event; Tom was there because he’s a voice in a new Pixar movie called Onward with Chris Pratt,” Iger says. “And he said something onstage and it was clear that the fans wanted Tom back as Spider-Man made by Marvel and our Marvel production team.” The executive is of course referring to Holland’s emotional message to fans gathered at the convention, “I love you 3,000.”

“After D23, Tom reached out to folks who worked for me, ‘Could I please have Bob’s email address or phone number?’ Of course I’m very protected and they were very careful,” Iger continues. “I said, ‘Sure, have him contact me.’ And he did. We spoke. Basically he made a… he cried on the phone.”

To which Jimmy Kimmel replied, “Really?!”

Iger continued with a laugh saying  “No, not really. But it was clear that he cared so much and actually we care a lot about him. He’s a great Spider-Man. I actually felt for him, and it was clear that the fans wanted this to happen. So after I got off the phone with him I made a couple of phone calls to our team at Disney Studios and then I decided to call the head of Sony and I said, ‘We gotta figure out a way to get this done.’ For Tom and for the fans. And we did. That’s how it happened. He called me and I called them.”

The deal is for two more movies. The sequel to homecoming in July 2021 and than another unknown movie. Both produced by Marvel Studios Kevin Feige. Disney will get a proportionally bigger cut of the profits, reportedly twenty five percent versus the previous cut of five percent, but will have to pay a proportionally twenty five percent of the production costs.  Sony will get the remaining monies, plus the distribution fee.

With the bad blood behind them, Deadline reports that Jon Watts in talks to return to the franchise for the third MCU Spiderman movie.

During the X-Men panel at New York Comic Con Marvel announced a new ongoing series for Wolverine, his first since 2014. Wolverine #1 will be written by Benjamin Percy with art by Adam Kubert and Victor Bog don avic. Percy has experience writing about Wolverine having written Wolverine The Long Night and The Lost Trail podcasts. The series will debut in February.

DC

Brandon Routh has put the S back on. And as expected he’s going to be The Kingdom Come version of Superman. A photo of Brandon Routh was released with the actor in the costume with graying temples. Brandon Routh will join Tom Welling and Erica Durance will be in the crossover as the Smallville versions of Superman and Lois Lane. Routh will also be doing double duty as Ray The Atom Palmer. He will in turn be joined by a new Atom, Ryan Choi played by Osric Chau . The crisis crossover will begin on Supergirl on December eighth and continue on that week’s Batwoman and The Flash and than continue on January fourteenth on Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.

Joining these stars in the crossover will be Ashley Scott who played Huntress on Birds of Prey, the WB series that lasted for threaten episodes in 2002.

Supergirl has a new suit and a new haircut this season, but they almost decided not to have her new haircut in the show. Costume Designer Victoria Auth told insider dot com quote “We were moving the whole concept of ‘Supergirl’ into a bit more sophistication, and I think she just thought, ‘new suit, new ‘do,'” Auth told Insider. “It kind of worked to balance each other. They were going to put her in a wig and hold on to the old cut, but then once they saw it, they thought it was a nice freshening.” unquote

Didn’t Supergirl have a mohawk in one version in the comic books? Frankly I’ve always liked Supergirl with billowy Farrah Fawcett kinda hair, but that’s just me.

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow will be making an appearance on Batwoman. The Hollywood Reporter  says she will play DC Universe tv and radio personality Vesper Fairchild. IN the comics the character was one of Bruce Wayne’s one time girlfriends. Maddow will be seen once but heard in multiple episodes. Rachael shared her excitement on Twitter saying quote “I know no one’s going to believe this is true, but it’s true. I’m ‘Vesper Fairchild’ in the new Batwoman TV show that starts this Sunday night on The CW. (My character is soooo not me; turns out playing her is one of the most fun things I’ve ever done).”  Showrunner caroline dries said in a statement quote “We consider Vesper Fairchild to be the sardonic Voice of Gotham,” “In addition to Rachel’s interest in Batwoman, we thought she’d be the perfect casting choice because her own hard-hitting journalism wildly contrasts Vesper’s penchant for snark, gossip and criticism of female superheroes.”

And on the heels of that announcement comes this one, Sabastian Roche from the Man in the High Castle and Vampire Diaries has joined the cast of Batwoman as a recurring character named Dr. Campbell.

The Joker is getting a lot of mileage this year, isn’t he. Legendary filmmaker John Carpenter is getting his turn at the clown prince of crime as the writer of the comic The Joker Year of the Villain. Here’s the blurb: “In this one-shot special, Lex Luthor – now a human-alien hybrid – has made his appeal to the world, asking its citizens to embrace doom and give in once and for all to evil, humanity’s true nature. In exchange, he will grant them the tools to ascend to their ultimate selves. While some DC villains (and heroes) are willing to hear what “Apex Lex” has to offer, the Clown Prince of Crime isn’t going to wait around until Lex gets to him. This puts The Joker on a mission to get his swagger back in a world gone bad by out-badding everyone else, proving that the greatest evil is always the one that leaves them laughing.” The comic will be out this week.

Comedian and acgor Pete Davidson missed the preiere of SNL to film James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad in Atlanta.. Pete also went to a special screening of The Joker in Atlanta with the cast of the movie. James Gunn posted a picture of the cast on Instagram. “#TheSuicideSquad (and Pom). Many of us are doing weird things in this photo. After a screening of Joker (thanks @wbpictures!),” No word on when Pete will be returning to Saturday Night Live.

At NYCC DC announced that they are releasing  a new official DC Timeline. In this timeline, Wonder Woman is the first superhero of the Golden Age. There are four eras on this time timeline, The first“Dawn of the Heroic Age,” includes the Justice Society of America, the All Star Squadron, and the Freedom Fighters. The Second“The Space Age,” began with Superman and featured the Justice League and Doom Patrol before giving way to The Third“The Age of Crisis,” starting with Crisis on Infinite Earths. And the fourth “The Flashpoint,”starting with Flashpoint the current era and extending into the future of the just-reintroduced Legion of Super-Heroes. I’m pretty happy to stay in the third.

Todd McFarlane believes that there will be a Spawn Universe. Todd Speaking with comic book dot coms Jim Viscardi was asked if it was time to expand Spawn even title wise, Todd replied quote “So essentially there’s been a blink in the universe and it’s sort of awakened a bunch of things or it’s triggered a bunch of things. And so this battle that he’d been raging for 300 issues, almost exclusively as a solo act is now going to slowly morph into that,” “Not necessarily that he’s going to have a team, although that could be possible in the future. But that he’s not going to be alone and that there’s going to be other soldiers in this war because it’s a daunting task what he’s trying to do right now. And, he intellectually knows he can’t do it by himself. So he’s going to get help one way or another, whether he wants it or not, helps coming.” “The bigger sort of stories moving forward is what does all that mean? A) help is always good, but if the people helping you don’t have the same mindset or have their own agendas or have their own attitudes, then what seems like it should be a positive can turn into a neutral or a negative. And those are all the things that arguably any theme books go through, the mechanisms of who are all these individuals when they run into each other.” He also said that there would be some new material coming to the books. Saying quote And, then we’re going to start going from there and then building hopefully some new super villains if you will, that will be on par with the Clown and some of the other characters I’ve had in the book. But maybe in 10 years, we’ll be thought of in the same category as some of the big sort of iconic superheroes. Don’t know if it’ll happen, but I think it’s time. I think it’s time to just create my Spawn verse, if you will.

And with issue 301 The Guinness World Records will be giving Todd MacFarlane the world record for longest running creator owned superhero comic book series

Netflix’s Bojack Horseman is coming to an end with season 6. The last season will be presented in two parts, the first part will debut at the end of October and the second half at the end of January. IN a press release about it McFarlane talked about how long running series come in on the backs of a lot of people saying quote “As much as I am proud to be receiving this award, I gratefully accept it on behalf of all those who helped me the past 27 years on this journey.” unquote

It’s now official. Kevin Smith’s next film will be Clerks 3. Kevin broke the news in a post on Instagram and a poster standing next to Jay Mewes and Jeff Anderson quote”3 CLERKS,” . “Thanks to the good folks at [Leeloo Multiprops], I got to see Randal! Jeff Anderson, Jay Mewes, and I spend Saturday signing stuff and catching up, seeing so much movie merch that’s been made over the last 25 years (hit the Leeloo site for sweet signed skateboards)! But even better than that? We talked about making a movie together. It’ll be a movie that concludes a saga. It’ll be a movie about how you’re never too old to completely change your life. It’ll be a movie about how a decades-spanning friendship finally confronts the future. It’ll be a movie that brings us back to the beginning – a return to the cradle of civilization in the great state of New Jersey. It’ll be a movie that stars Jeff and Brian O’Halloran with me and Jay in supporting roles. And it’ll be a movie called CLERKS III!” unquote. This will be a new version of the script and not the old one that he wrote a few years back.

Disney Plus and Amazon have hit a snag. Amazon’s Fire TV might not get Disney Plus in a dispute over advertising. Amazon apparently wants the right to sell a quote “substantial percentage of the ad space on Disney apps,” unquote, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. Disney is resisting. Let’s hope the two mega money giants come to an agreement by next month as Disney Plus is set to debut on November twelfth.

Rick and Morty’s return is imminent! Adult Swim announced that Rick And Morty will be back for a five episode half season run on November 10th. Just remember that this is just the beginning as the show was renewed for 70 episodes.

The peacock network NBC is putting into development a post apocalyptic civilization rebuilding drama called The Vault from Keshet Studios and Universal TV. The Vault is written by Jesse Lasky and centers around a cataclysmic event seemingly wipes out the planet, the survival of humanity rests upon Annie, a geobiologist who has been setting up a state-of-the-art facility in the Arctic known as the Vault. It houses a dozen experts in their respective fields all with specific skill sets that would be essential in rebuilding civilization.

Lasky executive produces with Keshet’s Avi Nir, Peter Traugott, Rachel Kaplan and Alon Shtruzman. Lasky is managed by Echo Lake Entertainment.

Tonight! Someone wants to make a new Star Wars Holiday Special, The Tardigrade case gets decided and we say farewell to the first Ferengi in Starfleet all that and more on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the scifi edition of Multiverse Tonight. Ya know, you put a show together, you think it’s gonna be a great episode, lots to talk about, then you get a piece of news that just shakes you down a little. The death of Aron Eisenberg was just such a piece of news. I got to meet him a while back at Planet Comicon when they had a veritable Ferengi-a-palooza and about a decade before that at another convention that had all the Ferengis…and a Ferengi of a convention promoter. He was very nice, very personable and I loved the character of Nog. Star Trek Deep Space Nine has pretty much always been my favorite trek show. His death kind of hits home.

Star Wars

You know the Holiday season is just around the corner, the christmas trees are fighting for room with the Halloween candy. Ya know,  Star Wars celebrated the holidays once, with somewhat hilarious and bizarre consequences. Well, Jon Favreau would like to repair that image with a brand spanking new Star Wars Holiday Special of his own. While Speaking with entertainment tonight at the Saturn Awards, Mr. Favreau told them that he would like to see Disney Plus tackle the special. Saying quote “I would love to do someday, maybe on Disney+, we’ll do a Holiday Special too. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?” “I gotta pitch that to them. We’ll see. If you wanna see a Holiday Special, let Disney+ know!” unquote. So would you like to see Jon favreau make a new Star Wars Holiday Special? I guess we gotta start tweeting Disney Plus.

Speaking of the new streaming service, which is just a little under two months away…hope you’re ready. A rumor has been making the rounds  that a sequel to Solo A Star Wars story could be in the offing for Disney Plus. The rumor seems to come from Jeremy Conrad of Star Wars unity dot com, he wrote on his site quote “While we’ll probably not see a sequel or continuation of Han’s story, I’ve heard a rumor that some kind spin-off set after the events of the movie is being developed as a Disney+ series. As it probably wouldn’t be about Han, Chewie, or Lando; some kind of underworld series dealing with the Crimson Dawn and other scoundrels sounds the most likely,” unquote  So we’re pretty deep in rumor territory here and while I try to stay out of rumors here, but I think I’d be interested in something like this, I actually liked Solo. Hey Disney Plus, give me the Holiday Special AND this too. Take my money!

IN a recent episode to The Star Wars show on Youtube, they painstakingly figured out how much damage Han did to the millenium falcon during the Kessel Run Sequence of Solo: A Star Wars Story. How much was the damage? 87,500 credits. Kinda makes you wonder why they wouldn’t have just bought a new ship? Did they have Farmers insurance on the ship? Heck the fact that the Falcon is still space worthy in the current trilogy is nothing short of a miracle.

So your chillin, watching A new Hope and you’re eyes fall upon the Stormtrooper bumping his head in that one scene. Ever think to yourself, I wonder what happened to that guy? Nope? Well I guess you’re gonna get the answer anyway, A UK documentary crew has set itself the task of finding the guy who bumped his head. Star Wars fans will learn which of three extras did the gaff in the documentary mini movie which will be released this month. Apparently the film will feature a number of celebrity cameos from Kevin Smith to Greg Grunberg.

Jamie Stangroom the film maker partially funded this on Indie GoGo with the following description quote The Empire Strikes Door is a fun mini documentary (30 minutes +) which aims to solve a Star Wars mystery! We know who Luke’s father is. We know who stole the Death Star plans. We even know who shot first! What we don’t know is the identity of the stormtrooper who cracked his skull against a Death Star door, in one of cinema’s most famous bloopers….I wanted to track him down, and relive his memories of that fateful day. It sounded simple, until I actually started looking. It wasn’t that I couldn’t find him, it’s that I kept finding more of him! I now have three suspects, and no idea who to trust.” unquote The Empire Strikes Door will be available on September 25th on Stangroom’s Youtube Channel.  Yep.

Star Trek

The next book in the Star Trek Discovery novel line arrives this December. This time focusing on Paul Stamets. Star trek Discovery Dead endless is written by David Galanter. The Synopsis reads quote

“The U.S.S. Discovery’s specialty is using its spore-based hub drive to jump great distances faster than any warp-faring vessel in Starfleet. To do this, Lieutenant Paul Stamets navigates the ship through the recently revealed mycelial network, a subspace domain Discovery can briefly transit but in which it cannot remain. After responding to a startling distress call originating from within the network, the Discovery crew find themselves trapped in an inescapable realm where they will surely perish unless their missing mycelial fuel is found or restored. Is the seemingly human man found alone and alive inside the network the Starfleet officer he claims to be, or an impostor created by alien intruders who hope to extract themselves from the mycelial plane at the expense of all lives aboard Discovery?” unquote  Stamets is getting quote a push lately. He’s the featured character in the new episodes of Star Trek Online.

CBS creative officer David Nevins is looking forward to Star Trek’s future in the as yet to be merged ViacomCBS. I reiterate not yet merged, not done. Unlike some other podcasts, I like to have correct facts. And the facts are that A company isn’t merged until it’s merged. Anyway, Nevins spoke at a Conference put on by Bank of America Merrill Lynch in LA. According to Deadline , He told the audience quote “We really believe in not only serving inside our own ecosystem but serving people outside,” Nevins said at the event. “What we’re trying to do right now with Star Trek is build that brand. We want it to get younger and more relevant to people.” He referred to the merger as creating a “virtuous eco-system” where “If you’re smart about it, you can create a lot of value.” unquote Hey, as long as it’s good content and not content just for contents sake, I’m all for it.

Anyway, While we wait for this virtuous eco-system to form, why not have a refreshing Romulan Ale. But how do you make it? The How to Drink Youtube channel has a recipe for you to try. They’re recipe includes 1 oz. -or- 30 ml. Simple Syrup

1 o.z -or- 30 ml. Lime Juice

1 oz. -or- 30 ml. Blue Curaçao

2 oz. -or- 60 ml. Plantation 3 Star white rum

Shake and Strain

And if you want a non alcoholic version he has a recipe for a Romulan Ginger Ale. it contains.

.5 oz. -or- 15 ml. Lime JUice

1 oz. -or- 30 ml. Ginger Syrup (more to taste)

2 oz. -or- 60 ml. Butterfly Pea Blossom Tea

Shake and Strain

top with seltzer

So does any of these float your boat? Do you have your own recipe? Share it with us by heading on over to our social media.

And now an update to a story I did all the way back in Episode 8 of the podcast last September, now I could make you stop and download that episode and listen to the story, but let me just go over it real quick…

Anas Abdin, is the creator of a 2014 indie game called Tardigrades He was suing CBS and Netflix over Discovery, for infringing on his creative property. Anas’ claims revolved around the show supposedly stealing the idea that an alien Tardigrade is the key to interstellar transport and humans are exploring this through a scientific breakthrough, and he also claims the relationship between Paul Stammets and Hugh Culber is similar to one explored in his 2014 game. The Discovery character of Stammets even bore strikingresemblance to a character from the game.

There’ll be a link in the show notes. http://anas-tronaut.blogspot.com/2018/08/tardigrades-case.html

Well in a blog post this past friday Anis posted quote  I just returned from visiting dad from the cemetery, I got the news that the judge ruled against me. I would like to thank everyone who supported me. I don’t have enough words to describe my gratitude to everyone who believed in me and my case. I cannot thank my lawyers enough for believing in me and fighting for me. I respect the ruling and I expect everyone to do so. I’m not sure what happens to my project now, or my independent-game development career in general. Unquote I feel so sorry for him… Let’s dig a little deeper here.

Here’s what the legal brief states quote Defendants’ motion to dismiss is granted because Star Trek: Discoveryand  Plaintiff’sVideogame are not substantially similar as a matter of law in concept, characters, settings and “overall feel.”In particular, the tardigrade in Star Trek: Discovery is not substantially similar to Plaintiff’s tardigrade in concept, attributes and overall feel. The brief then goes on to compare and contrast the video game and the show quote The plots of both works are similar solely to the extent that the characters go on adventures in space, and some of the adventures involve alien tardigrades. This common storyline of adventuring through space and discovering aliens is a scènes-à-faire common toworks that involve space travel. Just as “cowboys, bank robbers, and shootouts in stories of the American West . . . get no protection,” alien contact in fictional stories about space adventures gets no protection. Moreover, the Television Series’ plot also involves subjects that are not part of the Videogame: the war between the Federation and Klingons, and the personal struggles of individual characters that involve redemption, growth, and fitting in as an outsider. Unquote

US District Court Judge Lorna Schofield granted CBS’s motion to dismiss, ending the case.

Geek

Movie Pass is no more. The theater subscription service  notified subscribers that it was ending as of September fourteenth due to failure to raise new funds to keep it going. HOwever even though the service is dead, it still spawned theater chains like AMC, Regal and Cinemark to start their own subscription services. Personally, I would be interested in such a service, if I lived closer to a big city.

M. Night Shyamlan keeps finding work. The filmmaker is now developing two new thriller projects for Universal Pictures according to Variety the two movies, as of yet untitled are scheduled for February 26, 2021 and February 17, 2023. Universal studio president Peter Crammer said in a statement quote “M. Night Shyamalan continues to create exciting, highly original stories that keep global audiences on the edge of their seats,” studio president Peter Cramer said in a statement. “There is no one like him: he is a master filmmaker working at the height of his powers, and we are honored that he has once again chosen Universal to be the home for his next two incredible projects.” According to Variety, M. Night will self finance his next two films.

Wheel of time, turn turn turn. Amazon’s production of The Wheel of Time has started production. This year also marks the twelfth anniversary of the death of the Wheel of Time author Robert Jordan. According to a video released by Amazon to commemorate the occasions Showrunner Rafe Jundkins said quote “Hey everyone, today is our first day of principal photography on The Wheel of Time television series, and for all of us, it’s a little bit emotional because it is also quite coincidentally the twelfth anniversary of the author, Robert Jordan’s, passing,” “So as much as I’m excited about this new endeavor that we are all embarking on, I am also quite humbled and honored to remember the man who began all of this. Tai’shar Rigney.” The series stars Rosamund Pike as Moiraine a member of the mysterious organization called the Aes Sedai, as she leads a group of adventurers on a journey that could change their world forever.

The final pieces are falling in place for next years Ghostbusters movie. Original Ghostbusters Ernie Hudson and Dan Aykroyd have both confirmed they will be returning to Ghostbusters. Dan Aykroyd confirmed his involvement during an interview of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. He told Joe quote “I’m not in the pictures so much anymore. We’ve got the Ghostbusters movie that we’re working on now and I will have to be performing in that,“”Ivan Reitman’s son Jason has written a new movie called, well, it’s gonna be Ghostbusters, the third movie. It will be all, most of the original people and then young stars.” unquote Ernie confirmed his involvement in a Cameo video for a fan. The movie will be arriving in theaters on July tenth.

According to a report from the hollywood reporter, Universal might be trying to do something with it’s Monsters again. This time it’s with Paul Feig. The Reporter has learned that he is behind a new project called Dark army. This new project joins the Invisible Man which comes in 2020 from Blumhouse. So what is the Dark Army? No one seems to know other than that it will be an original idea and the rumors are circulating that it will feature the classic universal monsters plus new Feig created characters. So I guess we will have to keep our ears open.

It’s awards time. So let’s look at who won this years Creative Arts emmys. The Creative Arts emmys are of course the awards that are too numerous (and boring) to be given out at the big emmy award show . So let’s take a look at our genre winners. Short form animated program went to Netflix’s Love Death and Robots, The Simpsons won the  animated program emmy the series has more emmys than it has seasons 34 wins.,It would be 35 except Seth McFarlane won for Best character voice over performance for his work on Family Guy, Guest actress in a drama went to Cherry Jones as Holly in The Handmaid’s Tale, The Handmaid’s Tale also got the award for production design one hour or more, Guest actor for Bradley Whitford Prosthetic makeup for a limited series movie or special went ot Star Trek Discovery, The Netflix series Russian Doll picked up an emmy for production design half hour and one for contemporary costumes. Game of Thrones really won big getting awards for Sound editing, special effects, costumes, non prosthetic makeup, stunt coordination drama, main titles, original dramatic score, casting for a drama and  sound mixing. They also picked up the award for Outstanding Drama and Peter Dinklage walked away with the emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor award. Whew. Guess they wanted the show to go out big.

So who walked away the big winners? HBO walked away with 34 trophys this year, Netflix came in second with 27 and Amzon in third with 15. The traditional networks were all in single digits with ABC completly shut out. Guess the emmy voters are getting tired of Modern Family.

Now for more award news I’ll have the Saturn awards in the comics edition in a couple of days.

Sid Haig has passed away. He will probably be known to the current generation as Captain Spaulding from Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects and 3 From Hell. But he also appeared in a variety of tv shows dating back decades including Batman, Star Trek in the first season episode The Return of The Archons, Mission: Impossible, Gunsmoke,Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Get Smart and MacGyver, His movie credits also include THX1138, Diamonds are Forever, Foxy Brown, Jackie Brown and Rob Zombie’s Halloween reboot. Earlier this month he was hospitalized after falling at his home in Los Angeles. He developed a lung infection while recovering and died on September 21, from complications dut to the infectionHe was 80.

And Finally some sad news. This past Saturday the 21st. We got news that Star Trek Deep Space Nine’s favorite young ferengi has passed awayActor Aron Eisenberg has passed away. The news was broken by his wife Malissa Longo on Facebook. Quote It is with extreme regret and sadness to announce that my love and best friend, Aron Eisenberg, passed away earlier today.

He was an intelligent, humble, funny, emphatic soul. He sought to live his life with integrity and truth.

He was so driven to put the best he had into whatever work was put before him.

He lived his life with such vigor and passion.

He was like a breath of fresh air, because I knew I would always hear the truth from him. Even if I didn’t want to hear it and even if the truth was inconvenient.

He made me (and still makes me) want to be the best human I can possibly be, because he always strove to be the best human he could be.

His resilience and willingness to learn was and is an inspiration.

We didn’t officially announce that we had eloped on December 28th, 2018. We were hoping to have a big shindig in celebration of our nuptials, but had to wait to save up the money.

While, our marriage, on paper, was a short one. Our hearts had been married for far longer.

I will be forever thankful for the time we had to love each other.

Five years felt like a lifetime, in the best possible ways.

There will never be another light like Aron’s. The beauty that he was and the legacy he leaves behind is beyond words. I love him dearly and will miss him eternally.

At the moment I’m not sure how to do life without him…

He is and always will be My California. Unquote

Aron Eisenberg was born on January 6, 1969 in Hollywood, California His first role was in 1988. And he made appearances on Parker Lewis can’t lose, The Wonder Years and tales from the crypt. His big role came in 1993 on the second Star Trek spinoff, Deep Space Nine as the ferengi waiter Rom’s son Nog. His role was pretty much small at first, but by the end of the series Nog had become a fully fleshed out character, having gone to Starfleet Academy and losing a leg during the Dominion War. He even revived the role for the game Star Trek Online as Captain Nog. He also guest starred on an episode of Star Trek Voyager as a Kazon youth.

In recent years it had been revealed that Aron had been diagnosed with kidney failure, having been born with only one functioning kidney. On December 29, 2015, he received a successful kidney transplant. he is survived by his wife and his two sons.

Now let’s take a breather and take a look at the box office report.

So let’s look at this past weekend’s box office.

Thanks for watching the scifi edition of Multiverse Tonight,  we will be back in two days with the comic book edition, Now please exit the universe in an orderly fashion. Good Night!

Multiverse Tonight is a production of Half-Baked Genre Productions. Copyright 2019  All Rights Reserved.

Tonight! The Suicide Squad is fully loaded, will the New Warriors ever see the screen? And if you loved the Lego movie, you’ll love Funkos  all that and more on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the comics edition of Multiverse Tonight. For starters I’d like to thank you all for a little while the podcast hit Number One on the Apple Podcasts Entertainment News chart. So thank you very much.

Did you catch the Emmy awards this past Sunday. I watched and I was bored. I just had no real interest in the main ceremony. Heck, I’m actually surprised that Game of Thrones won Best Drama considering how disliked the last season seemed to be. I don’t know why they didn’t all turn to George on stage there and tell him he wasn’t leaving the theater until  he finished the damn book.

Anyway let’s talk news…

DC

James Gunn dropped a cast list poster for The Suicide Squad and it’s a big one. The cast includes: David Dasmalchian, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joaquin Cosio, Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, Mayling NG, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alica Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, and Michael Rooker. However don’t expect much more than that for a long long time. Mr. Gunn replying to a fan’s plea for more information received the response quote Some characters will get out. Some already have (although some reported on, including from reputable sources, have been very wrong). But, in all honesty, I don’t know if we’ll officially release character info for a long long while to come. Unquote  I’m still betting that half these actors will get killed in the first five minutes.

Joker comes out on October 4th and it’s runtime will be just a couple of minutes over two hours. Literally, two hours and two minutes. Comicbook dot com speaking with director Todd Phillps at an advanced screening for the movie told them that the first cut was a bit longer coming in at quote 2 hours and 35 minutes unquote . Adding quote “There are so many cuts”

While Todd Phillips was there he wanted to correct a story we talked about in the last comic edition of the podcast. In a piece in Empire magazine Todd was quoted saying that such things as the Joker falling into a vat of acid was a comic book thing.

Todd told comic book dot com that quote “It’s funny because a lot of you guys have probably reprinted something I said in Empire where I was misquoted,”  “I’m not gonna complain, I like the writer; he wrote a great piece where I said we didn’t take anything from the comic book world. It’s actually not what I said. What I said was we didn’t take anything from one particular comic. We kind of picked and chose what we liked from the kind of 80-year canon of Joker. We kind of pulled a few things that we liked.” unquote

he also addressed the unknown time period that the film is set in saying quote “For us, we never say in the movie it’s 1981, but we always say, ‘It’s late seventies early eighties,’ mainly because we don’t want people to be like ‘Wow that car wasn’t out in 1979’, so late seventies early eighties,” “But the time for me, the reason we set it there, well there’s a lot of reasons. One reason was to separate it quite frankly, from the DC universe. When I pitched to Warner Brothers, and handed the script in, to sort of make it clear, this isn’t f—ing with anything you have going on. This is like a separate universe. So much so, it takes place in the past, before everything else.”

So to sum up, they cherry picked comic book references and were non committal on the exact time period that the film takes place.  Ya, still not the movie for me. Do me a favor, if you go and see it, send me a review and I’ll use it in an upcoming episode.

So did you see the Bat Symbol this past Saturday? To celebrate Batman’s 80th anniversary, DC and Warner Bros arranged for the Bat Symbol to light up landmarks and skyscrapers around the world. Pam Lifford, president of Warner Bros Global Brands and Experiences in a press release said about the event quote “The Bat-Signal is easily one of the most recognizable images among all superhero iconography and this is going to be a remarkable sight as we transcend borders, languages and cultures to bring us all together with this single experience,”. “We are proud to send up the Bat-Signal on Batman Day because it is an important beacon of inspiration that makes us all believe that it’s possible to take hardship and turn it into something good. Batman Day is a global celebration for all the fans.” unquote So did you do anything special to celebrate the Batman? Personally I waited for Commissioner Gordon to call …still waiting…..

Issue eighteen of Superman and issue seven of Lois Lane will be a change to the status quo as Superman and Lois will come clean with the city of Metropolis and reveal his secret identity. The solicitation for Superman goes like this  With Superman’s family scattered across the galaxy, our hero must confront some of his greatest concerns about himself and his place in the galaxy. Legendary artist Ivan Reis joins writer Brian Michael Bendis as they introduce the biggest change in the Man of Steel’s life ever! And for Lois Lane number seven is this Someone wanting to kill Lois Lane is nothing new for the famed reporter, but is it because of something she knows or something she’s about to uncover? Plus, this issue ties to the events of December’s Superman #18 and the gigantic status quo shift for both Lois and her husband, Superman, when the Man of Steel decides to reveal his identity to the world. What will this mean for them in the future? Superman number eighteen goes on shelves on December 11th and Lois Lane number seven will be out on New Year’s Day 2020.

And while Superman might be canceling his secret identity, DC is canceling a title. This time it’s Deathstroke, which will be coming to a close with number fifty. The solicitation for the issue reads quote It all comes down to this. With the fate of his family hanging in the balance, the real Slade Wilson must take on his most dangerous foe yet—himself! Unquote So it’s Deathstroke vs Deathstroke to the death…stroke. Guess we will find out who wins on December fourth.

In an exclusive in deadline dot com, it’s been revealed that Jonah Hill is in talks to play a villain in the upcoming The Batman movie starring Robert Pattinson. This news comes right on the heels of another piece of casting news for the movie, that Westworld’s Jeffrey Wright is in talks to play Commissioner Gordon. The movie will hit theaters in June of 2021.

Marvel

Production for the Marvel Hulu series Helstrom might be just a few days from starting in Vancouver, but they’re still casting some characters. According to Comicbook dot com The series is looking for someone to play Daimon and Satana Helsorom and Marduk, their demon father.

According to an unconfirmed report they’re looking for an actor in the forty or fifty year range to pay Marduk and actors in their twenties or thirties to lay Daimon and Ana. The show quote “follows Daimon and Ana Helstrom, the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer, who use their powers to track down the worst of humanity.”

Now while news about all the new Marvel shows is slowly creeping out, one show might be DOA.

The Marvel show The New Warriors seems to be in development hell as a report has surfaced that the show was rejected by Freeform, although the report is as of yet unconfirmed. It’s status has been up in the air for awhile now as this show has been in limbo for at least 3 years. So I guess we’ll just wait here in limbo as well until we get confirmation about the show. That’s called due diligence folks.

Marvel Comics has officially confirmed who is the most powerful mutant in the Marvel universeIN the History of the Marvel Universe #3.IN the comic a dying Galactus at the end of the dying universe tells an adult and very old, though looking good Franklin Richards that he is the most powerful mutant ever, due to his ability to literally manipulate the reality of the universe and create new universes.

One of the big surprises of D23 was the news that the next Thor movie: Thor Love and Thunder was going to have Natalie Portman back in the series and she’d get to be Thor. Director Taika Waititi has revealed to MTV News which Thor will be the main attraction in the movie. He told MTV News that quote “It’s Chris [Hemsworth]. It’s a Thor film. He is Thor, it’s a Thor film. She’s in it.” unquote So there you have it. He’s Thor, but we do know she will get to wield the hammer, which also makes her Thor. But we have a long way to go, the movie isn’t due out until 2021.

It looks like Disney wants an Oscar for the Endgame. The company now has a placeholder page for Avengers Endgame on it’s For Your Consideration page. It’s promoting Avengers Endgame, the live action Aladdin, Toy Story 4, the live action Lion King and the upcoming Frozen 2. Although it should be noted that Disney has yet to announce these submissions. They are also expected to campaign for Robert Downey Jr. to get a Best Actor nomination as well.  I think he’s earned it 3000.

We have some news on the Disney Plus Ms. Marvel series, a new report out of Discussing Film says that the new series will begin filming a year starting this month, September 2020. They also mentioned that they are looking for an unknown to play the main role of Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel.

By the way, Disney has opened up Sign Ups for Disney Plus The service will start on November 12. You can signup at disneyplus.com with a credit card or Paypal. The bundle with Hulu won’t be available for signup until the service starts. The cost of the service is 6.99 a month or 69.99 a year. The bundle with Hulu won’t be available until launch.

The Harbinger movie, based on the Valiant comic book has changed studios. The Hollywood Reporter reports that it’s gone from Sony to Paramount. Nothing else has changed, same director, writer, etc. However it will not go into production for quite some time. Interestingly enough this was supposed to be part of a shared movie universe akin to the MCU. However, another part of this universe, Bloodshot, which stars Vin Diesel is still set to come out from Sony next year. The only good news here is that the VCU is not entirely dead. Bloodshot is now the only Valiant property Sony has licensed through Valiant and is also not a cornerstone of the valiant universe so they can still make the VCU. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

The Netflix adaptation of the Mark Millar and Frank Quitely’s Jupiter’s Legacy comic has lost its showrunner. Steven S DeKnight who co created and ran the first season of Marvel’s Daredevil for Netflix has left over creative differences. According to Deadline, Mr. De Knight has an overall deal with Netflix and left Jupiter’s Legacy half way through the filming of the eight episode season. Netflix is of course not gonna let the chair cool long, production will not be halted while they search for a new showrunner. The series is described as “what would happen if a hero like Superman married Wonder Woman and had children… and those children grew up in the age of reality TV.” and stars Josh Duhamel, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris and Andrew Horton.

Amazon’s The Boys is a winner. According to new data obtained by ScreenRant dot com, the series is more popular that the Netflix Marvel shows. The data from Parrot Analytics show that The Boys had 50 million Demand Expressions per day in its fifth week since release. In comparison The   first seasons of the Netflix shows tended to get around 15 or 20 million Demand expressions a day for the same timeframe. The Boys is currently filming it’s second season.

So….you love the Lego movie and it’s cross pollination of characters? Well Warner Bros is hoping to hit paydirt again with a different set of toys. Funko Pops! Deadline reports that Warners has optioned the rights to the popular brand and will develop and produce a movie based on them. Lloyd Taylor has been hired to write a script. Funko CEO Brian Mariotti said about the partnership quote “We’re thrilled for this opportunity and are committed to make an amazing Funko movie that stands on its own merit. This isn’t about selling toys or building a brand. The team at Warner Animation Group has a unique vision of what the first film should be and we are extremely excited to take this journey alongside them.” unquote. Maybe they should call it Funko Pops Out of the box. Since no one ever takes theirs out of the box.

Let’s go over some of the winners of this years Saturn Awards.

Rick and Morty producer J. Michael Mendel has passed away. The news was confirmed by Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland with the following tweet quote My friend, partner, and line producer Mike Mendel passed away. I am devastated. My heart breaks for his family. I don’t know what I’m going to do without you by my side Mike. I’m destroyed. Unquote Mike served as an associate producer on The Simpsons for teh show’s first five seasons and continued to produce episodes until season ten. After that he went on to produce animated shows such as The PJs, Drawn Together, and Sit Down Shut Up. he also served as an associate producer on Jerry Maguire. Starting in 2013, Mister Mendel served as a producer on Rick and Morty, having a hand in 22 of the show’s episodes. His most recent episode was is the show’s Season 3 premiere, “The Rickshank Rickdemption”. During his carrer he earned seven nominations and four wins at the Emmys, winning for The Simpsons in 1995, 1997, and 1998, as well as for Rick and Morty’s “Pickle Rick” episode last year. Multiverse Tonight Episode 40 Sci Fi Edition

Tonight! Picard’s a wrap, More trouble in Discovery’s writers room and JJ Abrams has something to say about Star Wars fans and on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the scifi edition of Multiverse Tonight. I will admit right at the beginning here that my heart wasn’t fully in this episode. You see this episode falls during one of the few vacations I get from my night job and my wife and I were going to go to Wizard World Tulsa this past weekend, but we canceled it because the fridge died, so we had to buy a new one. So this became a staycation. But it wasn’t all bad, we went to the Kansas State Fair, we saw It Chapter 2 and went out to a couple of good places to eat.  By the way, if you’d like to help get me to more cons in the future. Just go to the website and click on the donate link at the top of the page. However. That doesn’t mean that we don’t have some news, so….

Star Trek

Star Trek Picard is a wrap. The production has wrapped up filming on season one and we know this thanks to VFX Supervisor Ante Dekovic who posted on Instagram quote “That’s a wrap on Star Trek: Picard!!! …at least the filming part. All is left, months of post production,“”Thanks @startrekcbs @michael.chabon , Akiva, @alexkurtzmanofficial and of course @sirpatstew for the experience. . Also a big thank you to everybody who helped us on set with the VFX. Even that for most of the time, it was hard to imagine or understand the things that we do. 🖖 . Can’t wait for the world to watch the show and get their minds blown!” unquote The series comes to CBS All Access in early 2020

And one man who is breathing a sigh of relief is Number one himself, Jonathan Frakes. Speaking at Fan Expo Canada, Mr. Frakes admitted that after spending so much time behind the camera as a director, he was nervous acting opposite Patrick Stewart again. Quote “I hadn’t acted in a long, long, long time,” “I hadn’t played Riker in 18 years, and I’ve been very fortunate to be busy directing. I acted briefly in a movie in Winnipeg about 10 years ago. And I had a major anxiety attack because, for whatever reason, I’d forgotten to act. I forgot how to act. I was not a pretty picture for a few hours. I got my s–t together and ended up doing fine.

“I had just directed two episodes of Picard with Sir Patrick and, as I said, his acting muscle was well-toned. And Marina (Sirtis) had just closed having starred in a play in the West End in London. So, I knew she was going to be in good form. So, I was a nervous wreck. It ended up going very well. But don’t let anybody tell you it’s like getting back on a bike. That’s bulls–t. That’s acting bulls–t.” unquote.

He was excited to direct the third and fourth episodes of the series saying quote “Eighteen years later. I think the fans are going to be thrilled and excited and surprised,”  “I have had the privilege of reading the first couple of episodes and I have spent some time with Patrick who is so engaged [laughs] Sorry. It’s wonderful. It’s smart. I’m excited about it. He is obviously more excited. His announcing of it at Las Vegas — which I believe was his idea —was very smart. You know he is 78, and he is going to be carrying the show on his shoulders, his considerable shoulders.

“I’m excited for him and personally, I feel so blessed to back,”  “It’s so ironic that I spent so many years trying to expand where I was working and I was lucky enough to get onto other types of shows. The directing has been a mitzvah for me—to learn another craft. And now I am deeply ensconced in the world I was in 31 years ago—and I’ve got to say—incredibly grateful for it, between The Orville, and Discovery and Picard. And hopefully the Empress Georgiou show.”

At Fan Expo Canada Mister Frakes also discussed Season three of Discovery saying quote “I can tell you this much about season three of Discovery: It is in fact much more optimistic,”  “They’ve gotten themselves out of the Mirror Universe… After Gene died, some of the writers decided that Deep Space Nine should maybe take a different tone, which, I think, it did to certain degrees of success. The optimism that Gene infused in all of his shows and in all of us may not be as obvious as it once was, but it’s certainly the driving force of his vision and the franchise and [Alex] Kurtzman and all the people who run our shows are very conscious that that canon is important to all of you and all of us. JJ [Abram]’s movies, I thought, were very uplifting and wonderfully told stories. There needs to be conflict to make drama. So I’m here to share that Discovery certainly is taking a more optimistic, traditional Star Trek approach in next season.”

Wait, they’re conscious about cannon? Really?

Anyway, Discovery Season three jumps 930 years into the future but arrives sooner than that next year.

Ethan Peck, who played Spock on the last season of Discovery is still hoping for a Captain Pike spinoff. Speaking at the Trekonderoga con in Ticonderoga, New York. The most recent Mister Spock said quote “So, hopefully… Anson (Mount), Rebecca (Romijn) and I are all hoping to have a spinoff of our own and we can do all this proper.”

He also told the audience that his eyebrows were fake, but his beard was his own quote“About a month before I went out (to start filming), Alex Kurtzman, the showrunner—who became the showrunner as I joined the show—he was like ‘don’t shave.’ When he told me that Spock was going to have a beard, I was like ‘Oh, shoot. I’m going to be Spock with a beard, people are going to absolutely smash me online. And of course a lot of people did—which is is fine, it’s to be expected. People are going to think what they’re going to think, and can’t control that. So I just do my best. And I thought it’d be gone in an episode or two. I think Alex liked it so much, and I think they were still developing the end of the season in the writer’s room when I joined. It stayed… and I’m so glad it did.” unquote

Spock and Number One will be back in one of the new Short Treks coming soon.

And just when I thought I was done with this episode’s Discovery News, this past friday The HollyWood Reporter dropped news that Author Walter Mosley has quit Star Trek Discovery after he used the N-Word in the writers room. Mosley, who is black wrote in an op-ed for the New York Times in which he revealed that he quit after being chastised by human resources for using the word on the job. Mosley had been recruited for the writers room by Alex Kurtzman. Mr. Kurtzman and showrunner Michelle Paradise were informed of the complaint by the human resources department Mr. Mosley’s op ed read quote “Earlier this year, I had just finished with the Snowfall writers’ room for the season when I took a similar job on a different show at a different network. I’d been in the new room for a few weeks when I got the call from human resources. A pleasant-sounding young man said, ‘Mr. Mosley, it has been reported that you used the n-word in the writers’ room,'” “I replied, ‘I am the N-word in the writers’ room.'” unquote. Mr. Mosley went on to explain in the op ed how he was told that although it was alright to use the word in a script, it was not alright to say it. Apparently he had used the word in the telling of a story about a cop who had used it. He also said that he was unaware who had complained. CBS in response to the Op Ed put out a statement saying quote “We have the greatest admiration for Mr. Mosley’s writing talents and were excited to have him join Star Trek: Discovery. While we cannot comment on the specifics of confidential employee matters, we are committed to supporting a workplace where employees feel free to express concerns and where they feel comfortable performing their best work. We wish Mr. Mosley much continued success.” unquote

Mosley decided to resign because quote “My answer to HR was to resign and move on. I was in a writers’ room trying to be creative while at the same time being surveilled by unknown critics who would snitch on me to a disembodied voice over the phone,“”My every word would be scrutinized. Sooner or later I’d be fired or worse — silenced.” unquote Walter Mosley is a best selling writer widely recognized for his crime fiction. He has written four sci fi books. Blue Light, Futureland: Nine Stories of an Imminent world, The Wave and 47. I hope Mr. Mosley well in his future endeavors.

Presidential Candidate and New Jersey Senator Cory Booker is a Trekkie. In a recent interview with the New York Times, Booker revealed how his father first introduced him to Star Trek and how Gene Roddenberry’s vision of the future informed his 2020 presidential bid. He also revealed that his favorite Star Trek captain is Jean Luc Picard. He told the Times quote “Besides his great haircut, I do love how profoundly intellectual he is and how reasoned and thoughtful,” “I was just rewatching the episode with him and Wesley Crusher, basically the one where Wesley is leaving and they get trapped and Picard is injured [Season 4’s “Final Mission”]. He is incredibly affectionate toward him in a very restrained, British way. You could still see that he is still a nurturing leader. There’s something about his style that I’ve just found compelling.”

Here’s to seeing how far Senator Booker can boldly go.

Star Wars

Solo: A Star Wars story almost had a new character. Lando Calrissian’s brother. Jonathan Kasdan confirmed this bit of trivia on twitter. The character actually appears in a UK Han Solo Sticker book, Kasdan than filled in the details quote Quote “Korso “The muscle in Beckett’s crew who died in battle shortly after they crash-landed on Mimban,” “Korso was in every draft of the script (including an early version where he was Lando’s big brother) and every cut of the movie ’til just before lock when he was removed to simplify.” unquote Unfortunately we will probably never see this brother as a sequel to Solo seems unlikely…Maybe they could use him in the Mandalorian or one of the other new series?

Now while I brought up the Mandallorian, We have some news that  Giancarlo Esposito spoke to IGN about his character on the show, Moff Gideon and his role in the wake of the empire’s dissolution.

Quote “He certainly looks villainous, we don’t know. Could be, could be for good, could be for evil, could be the conqueror. Could be the savior. We all need order in our world, and this is an Empire that’s fallen, it has no order,“”Moff Gideon’s very very intelligent, very knowledgeable. He’s very particular about his operation and what he does. He’s certainly rising.“”He was an Imperial soldier before the Empire fell. He uses all of what he’s learned and has been risen through the ranks because he has some sense of order. But yet, he can be cruel and he will not withstand fools. And he’s a traveler. He gets around and knows everything, and no one knows why.” Unquote Sounds like with the Empire gone, Gideon is busy setting up his own little empire.

Additionally, In a feature in Entertainment Weekly, Showrunner Jon Favreau described the setting for the show as quote “It’s like after the Roman Empire falls, or when you don’t have a centralized shogun in Japan — and, of course, the Old West, when there wasn’t any government in the areas that had not yet been settled,”. “Those are also cinematic tropes in films that originally inspired George Lucas to make Star Wars.”

We also learn about IG-11 in the article, The character who bears a resemblence to IG-88 from the original trilogy is voiced by Taika Waititi, He  said that quote “[IG-11 is] very innocent and naive and direct and doesn’t know about sarcasm and doesn’t know how to lie,” “It’s like a child with a gun.” That sounds like a bad combination.

JJ Abrams had something to say about Star Wars fans. And it’s not an expletive. Speaking with Marvelous TV during the D23 expo, he said. Quote “You just have to be grateful for them, because you don’t want to be working on something no-one cares about,” “And you have to understand that they’ve got their opinions and, of course, you have to value them. You’re never going to please everyone, you have to know that going in, and just do the best you can. I’m nothing but thankful as someone who considers myself a fan. I can’t wait for them to see the film.” unquote

Talking to the Associated Press, He also made it quote clear that Rise of Skywalker won’t be any kind of  course correction from Rian johnsons’ Last Jedi saying quote “The story that we’re telling, the story that we started to conceive when we did The Force Awakens was allowed to continue. Episode (8) VIII didn’t really derail anything that we were thinking about,” “But I will say that the fun of this movie is that these characters are all together on this adventure as a group. That’s the thing that I was most excited about to see, the dynamic between these characters that these amazing actors play on this desperate, seat-of-your-pants adventure. That, to me, was the most fun, having the group together.”

In other words, sit back relax and stop reading haters online.

Well one thing just about every fan can agree on, is a love for John Williams Star Wars scores. Mr. Williams began work on the score for The Rise of Skywalker this summer and recently talked about it at one of his concerts. Terry Matalas, the showrunner for Syfy’s 12 monkeys shared a clip of Williams remarks from the concert and put it up on twitter. Mr. Williams said quote “J.J. Abrams is directing a new film, and I agree he’s doing a fantastic job, and I think, I won’t say anything about it spoiling the ending, it’ll just put you all away. I think you’ll love it,”

So the Galaxy’s Edge is now open at both Disney World and Disney land. If you’ve been there in the past month and want to go again, Disney is now offering a special contest to anyone who visited between August 29th and September 30th. The official @starwars twitter account tweeted out. Quote “Ready to head #BacktoBatuu? Find out more about the exciting new Star Wars #GalaxysEdge sweepstakes,” unquote. So here’s the deal. Star Wars dot com wants you to post to instagram or twitter photos from the galaxy’s edge using the hashtags #sweepstakes, #galaxysedge and #backtoBatuu plus a tag to @WaltDisneyWorld. There is also a post on the walt disney world facebook page where you can also enter. You can learn more at backtobatuu dot com.

The Transportation Safety Administration or as I call them the Security Theater Department Has decided to reverse a ban on the Galaxy’s Edge Coke Bottles. The TSA recently had decided to ban people from bringing the collectible bottles through airport security because the bottles look like Thermal Detonators…a fictional explosive device. However, In a statement given to CNN a spokesperson for the TSA said quote “We have completed our review, and instructed our officers to treat these as an oversized liquid,” “Because these bottles contain liquids larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters), they should be put in checked baggage or emptied to be brought on as carry-on item.”

The bottles are one of the most affordable souvenirs at the attraction coming in at five dollars and forty nine cents.

Ursula K Le Guin’s Earthsea series is set to be adapted into a new tv series from A24 and producer Jennifer Fox. Deadline reports that the series had been optioned last year prior to Le Guin passing away. She had given her blessing for the novels to be turned into a series of films. However that has been reenvisioned as a tv series. The Earthsea Cycle spans a series of novels and stories beginning with 1968’s The Wizard of EarthSea. The series spanned five novels. No word on where the show will air or when.

Too Expensive. That’s what The Goonies stars Corey Feldman and Sean Astin were told by director Richard Donner about there pitch for The Goonies 2. Feldman told fans at Fan Expo Boston quote “Every year, the rumor circulates, ‘Goonies 2 is definitely gonna happen now,’ and we’ll be like, ‘No, it’s not,’” “But Richard Donner at one point started fueling it himself and went to the press. He used to call us and tell us we were going back to work, and we’d get all excited, and then it wouldn’t happen [laughs].”

Donner, Feldman explained was joking with everyone, but Astin and Fledman did sit down to work out a serious idea. They sat down and came up with a sequel idea and presented it to  Richard Donner, Chris Columbus and Steven Spielberg, however though Donner loved it he told them it was too expensive and he wanted to go smaller.

However they both think Goonies 2 could still happen. More likely a reboot with cameos, but  Feldman said quote “They’re making Ghostbusters 3, come on,” “If they can make Ghostbusters 3, they can make Goonies 2.” So are the Goonies Good Enough to get a sequel or should they just reboot it?

Speaking of reboots, Paramount Pictures is set to reboot the Nicolas Cage, John Travolta movie Face/Off with a reboot done by 22 Jump Street writer Oren Uziel, this news confirmed by the Hollywood Reporter. The original 1997 movie saw Cage and Travolta in a film where Travolta’s FBI agent and Cage’s terrorist, trade faces via plastic surgery to mess with each other. The new film will be produced by Fast and Furious’ Neal Moritz with David Permut serving as executive producer.  No more details about the project has surfaced.

Now let’s take a look at the box office report.

So let’s look at this past weekend’s box office.

Multiverse Tonight 41 Comics edition

Tonight! DC’s Joker has Oscar’s in it’s eyes Iron Man becomes an Italitan work of art and finally my last interview from Smallville Con with Rick Stasi  all that and more on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the comics edition of Multiverse Tonight.  How was your summer? Or if your below the equator winter? Guess it’ll be time to sit down and watch some tv, read a comic or two. Conisider Life, The Universe and Everything. Ya know, normal stuff.

We have some info still trickling out from San Diego Comic Con. The Flash Grant Gustin as revealed a little about how the Crisis gets started over on The Flash. Talking with Comic Book dot com he said quote “I can’t spoil too too much because I haven’t read it yet,” “I’ve been teased a lot from our guys what it’s going to be. The Monitor shows up at the end of tour first episode and says the universe is in jeopardy and in order to save the universe, Barry Allen has to die. And Barry Allen doesn’t know about this deal Oliver made with the Monitor, either, so someone’s gonna die.” Will Barry die like he did in the comic book version of The Crisis?  Guess we will see. The Flash’s sixth season starts on October 8th.

Lucifer’s fifth and final season’s premiere episode has a title. The Lucifer Writers Room twitter account shared an image of the season 5 premiere script which is written by Jason Ning and directed by Eagle Egilsson. The title Really Sad Devil Guy. LHmm. Seems things aren’t going well for the neglectful ruler of hell. I really need to get myself caught up.

We have some guest star news for episode 5 of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Jesssica Jones alum Terry Chen will be playing the legendary conqueror Genghis Khan. THe episode title Mortal Khanbat has the ruler of Mongolia finding himself in 1990s era Hong Kong. Being a quick learner, he starts to use his strategic mind to conquer the planet. The episode will also mark the directing debut of series regular Caity Lotz.

Well some are interested in seeing Joker, personally that’s not me. It’s just not my kind of comic book movie. However it is getting a lot of possible Oscar buzz and at the screening of the movie at the Venice Film Festival the movie received an eight minute standing ovation from the audience. The movie, which is not connected to the DCEU or Batman at all could be the catalyst for WarnerMedia and DC to take creative and independent chances with their characters in the future.

Now if this causes a change to comic book movies or not Joker producer Emma Tillinger Koskoff is not a fan of the genre. Speaking with AP News she said quote “It’s not my preferred genre, the comic book genre,” Koskoff told AP News. “I literally can’t watch those movies. I try but I can’t. I should but I can’t. But I love this movie. Even if I didn’t work on this movie I would love this movie.” unquote. IN fact the origin of The Joker isn’t even related to the comic book version. Writer and Director Todd Phillips was quoted saying that Joker doesn’t fall into a vat of acid saying quote “That’s a comic book thing” unquote.

I hate to say it but doesn’t that make this a Comic Book Movie tangentially? If it’s not actually based on the material except for a few loose strands, is it a comic book movie. To get on my soap box here. I have to say no. A comic book movie has to be based on a comic book in more than just name or loosely based character. It would be like making a Star Wars movie. Except no stormtroopers, no galactic empire. There’s a character named Luke Skywalker, but he bares no resemblance to the character we know. Would it be a Star Wars movie? Would it? Anyway…

James Gunn did a Q&A on twitter and he revealed his musical plans for The Suicide Squad saying quote Music is an incredibly important part of ALL of my films, both soundtrack and score. So, yeah. But it will be a lot different than Guardians musically – and in so many other ways. Unquote It’ll be interesting to see what James Gunn puts together for the soundtrack. Unlike The Guardians movie, he won’t be limited to a certain period of time.

And speaking of the Suicide Squad movie, acotr director Taika Waititi is apparently in talks for a role in the movie. Deadline reports that there will be a table reading of the script on September 11th with production starting on September 23rd. He would be joining Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Jai Courtney who are all reprising their roles for The Suicide Squad. Idris Elba is leading the newcomers, including David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher, Flula Borg, Nathan Fillion, and Steve Agee as King Shark.

Deadline is reporting that former Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi has joined the cast. Deadline also reports that SNL’s Pete Davidson is in talks for a small cameo as well. The movie is due out 11 months from now on August sixth, 2021.

Marvel

One of the biggest shockers from the D23 con was the revelation that Moon Knight will be coming to Disney Plus as a series. Moon Knight Bill Sienkiewicz wants in. Bill took to Twitter to let Disney know that he’s available to help tweeting back at @newmutant quote “Yes. I’d absolutely love that. @disneyplus: you have my contact info, but just in case, here it is again” Sienkiewicz already has someone in mind to play Marc Moon Knight Spector, although it might be a stretch. Keanu Reeves.  Having previously written quote “Keanu would nail every one of MK’s alternate personalities; chill enough to be Lockley the cabby-or Lyft driver? (because of Uber), suave enough to pull off billionaire Grant, cold & cruel enough to nail the merc Spector, inscrutably badass enough to bring Moon Knight home,” Do you have any suggestions for the role? Let me know.

We talked about James Gunn’s Suicide Squad. Well Mr. Gunn has been answering questions about the choices of songs he used in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1. In response to a question about what song he was unable to use he responded quote I’ve licensed every song I’ve sought (although on the first film I inquired about Never Been to Spain and its price tag scared me off from even considering it). And, notoriously, both Pilot’s Magic and ELO’s Livin’ Thing sequences were cut from the first film (I regret cutting the Livin’ Thing montage, actually). Unquote In response to a question if we could ever see the montage, he responded quote It’s a dream of mine to do a rerelease of GotG Vol 1 with Livin’ Thing and a couple of other small additions.

Iron Man might have made the ultimate sacrifice in Avengers Endgame…and yes, it’s a fictional Earth, but that doesn’t stop people on this earth from commemorating him. Daniele Basso in Italy has created a sculpture of Iron Man that sits on a slab of marble in the seaside town of Forte dei Marmi, which is located in the province of Lucca, in northern Tuscany. The sculpture dubbed “Man of Steel” captures the hero making the superhero landing that has become pre requisite of superheroes landing on earth. The inscription reads quote “The first monument dedicated to Iron Man in the year of his cinematographic death celebrates Tony Stark, the man who used his great wealth to fight for the ideals in which he believed…” “Reminding us that we are the protagonists of our era. That the future of humanity depends on our decisions … that all of us must be heroes!”

Basso spoks with SyFywire about the sculpture saying quote “Art, for me, is an opportunity to communicate important messages through beauty. The opportunity to remind us of our individual and collective identity. To stimulate consciences … Superheroes talks to the child we always have in our souls. They remember us the sense and the meaning to do the right thing.”

“I like the Tony Stark character, who is not always right. [He’s] a man with his imperfections, but uses all his influence and power to help others. So, I wanted to remember this, which is my vision, the reason I chose Iron Man to send this message to the community … I wanted to remember, [even] in the wonderful and luxury of Forte dei Marmi (and in the crazy and funny Italian summer) the importance of our choices and behavior in everyday life,”

Netflix’s The Toys that made Us is coming back for season three. The Documentary series about the history of some of our favorite toy lines Will be back on November fifteenth. No word on what season three will cover.

Speaking of show premieres Watchmen will debut on HBO on October 20th. The series is about quote “Set in an alternate history where ‘superheroes’ are treated as outlaws, drama series Watchmen, debuting this fall from executive producer Damon Lindelof (HBO’s The Leftovers) embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name while attempting to break new ground on its own.” unquote

The Summer box office season is over and there is good news and bad news. The good news. Disney ran away with the summer with three big movie The Lion King, Aladdin and Toy Story 4 grossing more than 1 billion dollars worldwide. The Lion King was the top grosser with 523 and a half million in the US. Disney all together had 40 percent of the domestic box office. Disney would have done better if it weren’t for it’s merger with Fox. Fox had many duds this summer including XMen Dark Phoenix, Stuber and The Art of Racing in the Rain.

Sony walked away with the second spot thanks to Once Upon A time in Hollywood and Spider-Man Far From Home. It raked in 700 million. Sony’s best since 2006.

However, overall the box office in North America was down from 2018. Down 2 percent according to Comscore..

The Hollywood reporter reports that Gordon Bressack, the emmy award writer of such animated hits as Pink and the Brain and Animaniacs has passed away. In 1998, he became the first recipient of the Writers Guild of America Animation writers caucus Animation award. His credits also included Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys, Mighty Max, Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog, Darkwing Duck, Tiny Toon Adventures, The Smurfs, Bionic Six, Snorks and many more. He is survived by his son, James Cullen Bressack, his daughters Jackie and Samantha, his grandchild Logan and his three siblings. He was 68.

Episode 36:Star Trek on Summer Vacation & Kevin Smith Talks a lot, Ande Parks Talks a little

Episode 36

Tonight! We have news from Star Trek Las Vegas, we discover a cookbook at the Galaxy’s Edge and Will Wheaton files a lawsuit on this SciFi edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Well, welcome to the SciFi edition of Multiverse Tonight. Another heavy news episode this time.Quite a bit from Star Trek Las Vegas this time. But before we get to the news, I got a bit of good news, this week. Recently, Apple updated their podcast categories and one of the categories I put this show in is Entertainment News. Well this week Multiverse Tonight showed up in the Apple Podcasts charts for Entertainment News and topped out at Number 5! Thanks Apple! Yeah, I know, charts don’t matter, but it’s still kinda neat.

Star Trek

CBS and Viacom are moving one step closer to merging. Several sources are reporting that a tentative deal has been reached to make Viacom CEO Bob Bakish the new CEO of the combined entity with the current acting CBS CEO Joe Ianniello going to run the CBS assets, except Showtime and Simon & Shuster in a senior role of unknown title. This deal is still a long way to go.

All right, now that we have that little business update. Let’s get to the real news. At the Television Critics Association Summer Press tour, Star Trek Discovery executive producer and co showrunner Michelle Paradise confirmed the Discovery is in the 32nd century to stay. And they will have a new captain. Will it be Saru? Michael? A 32nd century resident? A sentient hyper evolved tribble? Personally, I’m hoping for the tribble

She also discussed how Discovery and Picard are both different and both similar. Saying quote “ I would say that it is in production, sort of size and scope, [Picard is] probably more similar to Discovery.”  But she also said that the show will have some similarities to The Next Generation. Saying quote “In terms of the characters and the nature of the storytelling, [Picard is] probably more like Next Generation. But of course, we’re a number of years later now so there are some shifts in the storytelling style but I think it’s a really nice hybrid of the two.”

According to Film Music Reporter, Discovery composer Jeff Russo will continue being the scorer for the CBS All Access Star Trek Universe as it was revealed that he will be scoring Star Trek Piczard. Russo has previously scored FX’s Legion and Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy

Also revealed was that the Section 31 series won’t go into production until the production end of season three of discovery.

During the CBS All Access executive session they confirmed that Star Trek Picard will be in the first quarter of 2020 and Discovery’s third season will be coming out later in 2020.

We also have some merchandise news. First off the Star Trek Discovery Season 2 Bluray will be out on November 12th. The Bluray will include all 14 episodes plus the short treks Runaway and the brightest star. Plus two hours of special features including featurettes, audio commentaries on four episodes, cast interviews, deleted scenes, and a gag reel.

Star trek Picard has some merch as well. The series will have a prequel comic and novel. Starting in November IDW gives us Star Trek Picard Countdown, a three issue comic book mini series from Mike Johnson and Kirsten Beyer. All we got of a plot is that it focuses on a mission that changes Picard’s life.

After that, Simon & Shusters’s Gallery Books imprint releases the novel The Last Best Hope written by Una McCormack. Which will lead directly into the series introducing us to the characters.

Also announced are a couple of books set in the Kelvin Timeline. The Order of Peace is written by Alan Dean Foster and More Beautiful Than Death by David Mack. The Order of Peace will be out in April of 2020 and More Beautiful than Death will be out the following august.

If you want some new Star Trek reading in the more immediate future. Out right now is Star Trek Discovery The Enterprise War by John Jackson Miller. On August thirteenth is Star Trek The Antares Maelstrom by Greg Cox. October 1st will see a reissue of Gene Roddenberry’s novelization of Star Trek The Motion Picture. October 8th has David Mack’s Next Generation novel Collateral Damage. And in December a new Star Trek Discovery novel Dead Endless by Dave Galanter.

And if you need something to drink while you watch StaR Trek Picard or get hammered enough for Discovery, Star Trek Wines has just want you need The 2016 Château Picard Bordeaux is an 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot blend that is subtly smoky and spicy with a bright, fresh, clean-tasting style. The wine spends 14 months in oak, 70% seasoned and 30% new. The United Federation of Planets wine is a 2017 Old Vine Zinfandel from across the Dry Creek & Russian River Valleys in Sonoma County, CA. It is a blend of 87% Zinfandel, 12% Petite Sirah and 1% Syrah. It has aromatics of concentrated strawberry, blackberry and plum preserves with a chewy-layered mid-palate filled with hints of white peppercorn, sweet red and black fruit. And of course you’ll need something to put that in, Star Trek Shop at shop.startrek.com has Chateau Picard Wine Glasses, tote bags, and shirts.

One of the surprises in the Picard trailer was the return of Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine. We would later learn that Jonathan Del arco was returning as Hugh, Riker and Troi will show up, Data will show up, could anyone else make an appearance? How bout The Doctor? During an appearance at the London Film and Comic Con, Robert Picard spoke to TrekkieGirls dot com, where he revealed that he’s in early discussion to appear in the next season of the show. Quote “I am pleased that they (CBS) have expressed interest in me,” “They have reached out to my agent about next season. So I’m looking forward to seeing what it is. As you know I play two characters, primarily the Doctor but also Lewis Zimmerman. Lewis Zimmerman, the engineer who created the Doctor’s program, certainly would have aged. He’s in the same timeline as Patrick Stewart and all the [Star Trek: The Next Generation] folk. The Doctor, of course, like Data doesn’t age, but there are ways to address that, as we all know. I joked the other day that my daughter does visual effects, that’s exactly what she does is digitally correct actors so I said, ‘If they hire the two of us, she could make me look 25 years younger. Anyway, it will interesting to see when something happens, if something but, but I might have a chance to be onscreen with Jeri again. It would be an honor and a delight, obviously, to have scenes with Patrick Stewart so, you know, we’ll keep our fingers crossed.” unquote Well if not, he’s always welcome to make a return appearance on The Orville.

Back at Star Trek Las Vegas, it has been revealed that Star Trek online’s Age of Discovery storyline will be coming to an end with the launch of the next story called Awakening. When Awakening releases this fall, players will warp to the year 2410, where they will embark on a mission to recover stolen Mycelial technology from J’Ula and the Klingons, with the help of Lt. Commander Paul Stamets (voiced by Anthony Rapp from Star Trek: Discovery) in holographic form. Captains can also access Awakening to participate in a series of exciting patrols to repair time rifts, a brand new Task Force Operation and a special Mycelial Event which rewards players with a new T6 Elachi ship for completing mission

Here’s the trailer…

Awakening launches for PC players on September 10th.

We also got some new info on Star trek Lower Decks. At the Star Trek Las Vegas panel for the show, series creator Mike Mcmahan described the work that the ship the USS Cerritos is involved in, basically the menial work that keeps the Federation running.  Mike told the audience quote “The specialty of the Cerritos is second contact,” “Second contact you’re showing up to the planet, you’re finding the good places to eat… you’re like the Yelp of Starfleet.” Mike compared the storytelling of Lower Decks to the subplots on the Next Generation saying quote “My favorite thing about Star Trek is the B stories,” “Yeah, Picard is being tortured for information, great, love that story. But then Data accidentally locked himself in a bathroom. That’s what I’m there for.” A few more details were giving like the menial tasks of the show’s ensigns include things like quote “scraping carbon off slightly harder carbon” “cleaning the holodeck.” unquote By the way, it’s been 45 years since the last Star Trek animated series and this one looks like it was worth the wait.

Star Wars

So you watched the Last Jedi and you remember one of the most iconic moments was Vice Admiral Holdo who we’ve had no time to develop any feelings toward (just sayin) using the last resistance capital ship to punch a hole in The First Orders huge ship. So how did she get the idea to do this? We find out in the Star wars age of resistance special. The comic has three stories, one with Maz Kanata, one with BB-8 and one with a young Holdo. The comic is available now.

So here’s some news to interest you into subscribing to Disney Plus. Cnet reports that Disney Plus will have Star Wars episodes one to seven at launch as well as Rogue One. The last Jedi and solo a star wars story have previous commitments to Netflix, but will probably show up on Disney Plus within the year. The new movie Rise of Skywalker will be the first of the franchise to show up on Disney Plus exclusively.  We will get a first look at Disney Plus at Disney’s D23 Expo on Friday August 23rd.

We have a progress report on The Mandalorian from Jon Favreau. He recently let it be known on Instagram that the show is in the process of being scored.  With an artist rendering of IG-11, a bounty hunter similar to IG-88 with the caption Scoring season one of #TheMandalorian.

Speaking of Jon Favreau and The Mandalorian. Jon spoke with GQ Middle East about the upcoming series and revealed what he learned in a talk with George Lucas and how he applied what he learned to the show. Quote: “We had a long talk with each other,” “One thing he said to me was, ‘Remember, Jon, the real audience for all stories and all myths is the kids that are coming of age,’ because he’s really a Joseph Campbell adherent.”

Joseph Campbell,by the way was a scholar who studied literature and mythology, and first coined the phrase and the corresponding motifs of “The Hero’s Journey,”  Favreau continued saying quote

“We enjoy the stories as adults, but really, storytelling is about imparting the wisdom of the previous generations on to the children who are becoming adults, and giving them a context for how to behave and how to learn the lessons of the past without making the mistakes on their own. That’s the hope, that you can teach them how to avoid all the hardship but garner all the wisdom,”

The Mandalorian launches with Disney Plus on November 12th.

Now we’re cooking. Disney and Insight Editions are publishing a cookbook called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook. The book is Written by Marc Sumerak (Hidden Universe Travel Guides: The Complete Marvel Cosmos) and Chelsea Monroe-Cassel, who has previously worked on a number of fantasy-themed cookbooks, The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook will allow fans to recreate the food available at the Disney attraction taken from the viewpoint of Strono Cookie Tuggs Maz Kanata’s one time head chef.  After working for Maz, he traveled the galaxy picking up food tips and then writing them down in a cookbook. The 176 page book will be released on November 5th.

SciFi Geek

Wil Wheaton has lawyered up. Wil and his loan out company Media Dynamics filed a lawsuit against Legendary Geek & Sundry for an alleged breach of contract  claiming that he’s been shorted profits from a web series. Here’s his case. Wil claims Legendary back in 2015 hired him to create, write, executive produce and host a web series called Titansgrave: The Ashes of Valkana, for which he’d be paid $50,000 and get a 50 percent net profit from the series. Legendary had the exclusive rights for distribution and promoting, but were supposed to consult Wil before doing so. The actor now claims that Legendary didn’t talk to him before negotiating agreements with Sinclair Broadcasting, Hulu and Pluto TV.

Wil presumes that Legendary has been collecting large fees from those deals and so he is therefore owed a share of those monies, but Legendary won’t let him look at the books. Therefore Wheaton is seeking at least one hundred thousand dollars  in damages and asking the court to order a full audit of the books. We will continue to follow this case as it goes forward.

Guillermo Del Toro has been honored with a star on the hollywood walk of fame. The man behind movies like Hellboy, Pacific Rim, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, and Crimson Peak received the 2,669th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at a ceremony presided over by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Rana Ghadban, director J.J. Abrams, and singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey. Guillermo’s next movie is which he wrote the screenplay and produced is  Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, which is now out in theaters.

If you want to get your Doctor Who on, better prepared to subscribe to a new service. In a major deal with BBC Studios, HBO Max will be the exclusive streaming home for the series. The new service will have all 11 seasons of the show at launch in Spring 2020 and will be the exclusive Streaming video on demand home for future seasons after they’ve aired on BBC America. Additionally, HBO Max has licensed 700 episodes of landmark BBC series like The Office, Top Gear, Luther and The Honorable Woman.

The new CBS supernatural thriller Evil will apparently try to avoid the Exorcism of the week trope according to creators and executive producers Robert and Michelle King.

Speaking at the TCA session for the new show. Evil is about a skeptical female clinical psychologist (Katja Herberts) who joins a priest-in-training (Mike Colter) as they investigate supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and other extraordinary occurrences. Robert King said quote “We are trying to avoid exorcism of the week,” “The second episode is about miracles. It’s about those question marks in life that you don’t quite know how they happen, a school where all the girls start laughing, and it seems to be almost viral. The other thing is you’re looking at life, and you’re seeing evils often not with a capital E but with a small e, the boss who throws things at his employees. Where does that fit in?… What our people are about is just figuring out what is genetically based villainy, if you want to use that word instead of evil, and what is something that’s even bigger, something more supernatural?  But also looking at hope.” The show will also not be gory Michelle King speaking about concerns that the show would be gorrie as the season when on said quote “I don’t anticipate it becoming more gory than what you saw in the pilot. That’s probably tonally what we’re looking at” The show will begin airing on September 26th on CBS.

Stephen King is writing a continuation to The Stand for teh CBS all access miniseries adaptation.  The new adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand will have a new ending written by the master of horror himself, it was announced at the TCA session for CBS All Access. Mr. King will be writing the last episodes of the nine episode series providing quote “a new coda that won’t be found in the book”.

“For fans of the book who have wondered what became of the survivors of the stand, this episode will contain a story that takes us beyond the book to answer those questions,” . “A continuation to The Stand; we can’t wait to share that with the world.” unquote CBS All Access EVP Julie McNamara told the attendees. The mini series will star James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young and Henry Zaga. No release date has been announced.

Also announced at the TCAs by CBS All Access is a new series adapting The Man Who Fell to Earth the novel by Walter Tevis that was turned into the  David Bowie movie . The series will be written and co produced by Alex Kurrtzman and Jenny Lumet. THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH will follow an alien who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and must confront his own past to determine our future. The series will be co-produced by CBS Television Studios and TANDEM Productions, a STUDIOCANAL Company, in association with Secret Hideout and Timberman/Beverly. STUDIOCANAL owns the rights for both Walter Tevis’ book as well as the iconic Nicolas Roeg film with David Bowie. Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet told the audience quote “Walter Tevis’ visionary novel gave us a tech god Willy Wonka from another planet, brought to life by David Bowie’s legendary performance, that foretold Steve Jobs’ and Elon Musk’s impacts on our world,” said executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet. “The series will imagine the next step in our evolution, seen through the eyes of an alien who must learn what it means to become human, even as he fights for the survival of his species.” No word on when it’s expected to air.

The Dune movie  has shifted. By a month from November 20th to December 18, 2020. No word on what movie will air on that date instead.  In it’s new slot it will face off against Steven Spieberg’s West Side Story, Paramount’s Coming to America 2 and Sony’s uncharted with Tom Holland.

And sadly, we end tonight remembering Actress Barbara March ,who passed away on August 11th at the age of 65. Barbara will best be known for her portrayal of Lursa the Klingon sister of Duras from the Star Trek The Next Generation episodes Firstborn and Redemption, the Deep Space Nine episode Past Prologue and Star Trek Generations. She was a classically trained actor starting in her home country of Canada, she also was a playwright and novelist as well. She is survived by her husband Alan Scarfe and her daughter Antonia and her son Jon. She died after a battle with cancer.

Episode 37:

Tonight! Kevin Smith talks Snyder cut, Disney Plus gets bundled, and we look back at Smallville Con with an interview with Ande Parks on this comics edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to Multiverse Tonight! I’m your host Thomas Townley. You’re now listening to the Number 7 podcast on Apple Podcasts Entertainment News charts! Too be honest, I don’t expect to stay on the chart, but it’s kinda neat to be able to say I’m a top 10 podcast.

This episode has plenty of news and an interview with Ande Parks that I recorded back at the Smallville Con.

DC

Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman for a generation will finally get to step in front of the camera. Announced at the Television Critics Association summer event, Kevin will appear in this year’s Arrowverse crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths as an older Bruce Wayne. Could he be the Arrowverse’s Bruce Wayne? Also announced in the crossover are characters from Black Lightning and Burt Ward, who will be appearing as an aged Robin.

The departing Arrow star Stephen Amell is working on the final episodes of the series, while reflecting on the series at the TCA summer event revealed his favorite episode of the series. Season 2 episode 20, Seeing Red is one that Amell said was quote a” ..really beautiful episode” unquote The episode saw touching moments between Oliver and his mother. And saw Moira revealing that she knows that Oliver is the Arrow and that she couldn’t be more proud of him.

We got some info on Batwoman from the TCA event. One she won’t get the red wig until episode 3. The first few episodes are an origin story and she won’t initially even have her own costume. Initially she will have a modified suit from her cousin Bruce after she comes across Bruce’s secret that he WAS the Batman. It was also revealed that Tommy Elliot, who becomes the villain Hush will show up episode two. Also revealed was that the villain for the season will be Magpie. A jewel thief who developed an obsession with beautiful things while curating Gotham’s museum.

Black Lightning will be returning sooner than expected. The show’s season three premiere has been moved up to October 7th. Batwoman starts the chain on October 6th, than Black Lightning, Than the Flash on October 8th, Arrow on the fifteenth and Legends of tomorrow beginning in January 2020.

What was your favorite?

Todd Phillips’ Joker is receiving some high praise. Cameron Bailey, the cohead and artistic director of the Toronto International Film Festival  has called it a quote “cinematic achievement on a high level,” unquote . The film festival will screen the movie, which will be the first comic book movie screened as a Gala presentation. Speaking with the Toronto Sun, Bailey said quote “First of all it’s terrific. So it should play on our largest stage,“”But it’s a really original take on comic book movies and on the Joker character in particular. It’s not based on an existing story, it has one of the greatest actors in modern cinema, Joaquin Phoenix, in the lead, and Robert De Niro is in it as well, one of the best actors that has ever lived.” unquote

About the tone Bailey said quote

“It’s set in the late ’70s, early ’80s and it feels like it was made then. It’s gritty in its look,“”It has references to Martin Scorsese’s filmmaking and it feels like a cinematic achievement on a high level. Although it’s working with very populist material, it has great ambition. That’s why it’s a Gala.” The movie opens in theaters on October 4th.

One of the holy grails of hollywood has been a Zack Snyder cut of Justice League. It’s existence has been argued about since the movie was Zach Snyder relinquished directing during post production in order to deal with the death of his daughter. Joss Whedon than took on post production which included reshoots. The film didn’t do what was expected at the box office and the DC Cinematic Universe kinda fell apart. That brings us to the present day. Kevin Smith, speaking with CinemaBlend’s ReelBleed podcast said that it exists saying quote “I’ve not seen it firsthand,” “And also to be clear, I know Zack, but it’s not like, ‘We’re f****** tight son!’ … That being said, I’ve spoken now to enough people at various levels in that production. There IS a Snyder cut. For sure. That’s not a mythical beast. It exists. Now, it’s not a finished movie by any stretch of the imagination. There were things that went away from the story that they shot that didn’t wind up going into (visual) effects or anything like that. So I would assume, based on what I’ve been told, that large sections of that Snyder Cut are, you know, pre-viz (with) a lot of green screen. We’re not talking a finished movie. When people hear ‘Snyder Cut’ in their heads, they think about, like, a DVD they’ve seen of an extended cut or something that’s finished. The ‘Snyder Cut’ that, again I haven’t seen, but the one I’ve heard everyone speak of was never a finished film. It was a movie that people in production could watch and fill in the blanks. It was certainly not meant for mass consumption.””I feel confident that the audience could handle that cut of the movie without being like… I think there’s a common thought process, probably within the studio – and again, no studio has said this to me, but I would assume that they’re like, ‘We can’t show people this,” “Yes, there is a Snyder Cut, but no audience would be able to look at this and see what the director’s intent was.’ I disagree. That would seem like common wisdom because everyone always wants to put their best foot forward. But I think the audience now, particularly the audience that would consume the Snyder Cut and discuss it at great length, can watch a work print. They can watch a work-in-progress and fill in the blanks in their heads.” “Every studio likes to make money,” “They do multiple incarnations of movies on video all the time. This could just be one more of those. All they have to do is lend their audience a little more credence to be like, ‘Look, they’ll get it.’ Put up a bunch of f****** disclaimers, including one from Zack himself at the head of it going, ‘Obviously the movie wasn’t finished, but here’s what we were thinking.’ There’s definitely a way to do it … They could definitely shoot a version of that flick where, you know, they put [Snyder] into it explaining what would have went here, what went there.” unquote

Man can that man talk. Here’s the ten penny version of that whole long speech. In other words, yes it exists, will it ever see the light of day? Probably not.

And speaking of things that we never will see. Ben Affleck’s version of The Batman. What would it have been about? Cinematographer Robert Richardson would have worked on the movie and he spoke with the HappySadConfused podcast, where he revealed that the movie would have taken Batman into the depths of Arkham Asylum. Quote “I wanted to shoot Batman with Ben [Affleck] cause that was the next film we had. There was a script, but not a loved script. There was a lot of work he was doing to it to change it.” “He was going into the more insanity aspects… He was entering more into the Arkham, he’s going into where everyone was bad.” unquote Unfortunately, Ben Affleck couldn’t quite get to a state of happy with the script and Affleck hung it up. It’s a shame. Kinda sounds interesting.

And while we’re on The Batman reports are surfacing that Warner Bros is considering adding BlackKklansman star John David Washington to the movie. What character he’s being considered for is not known but it’s possible that he could play Harvey Dent.Interesting enough he’s currently filming Tenet with The Batman’s Batman Robert Pattinson. So I guess they might have time to work on their chemistry together.

Marvel

ABC is in active talks to bring a new show with a female superhero to the network. ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke spoke to Deadline dot com and said quote “I have spoken to Marvel and we are in active talks about one project in particular.” unquote and While she wouldn’t give away any details, she said the character would be quote “something brand new, mostly” unquote and that the series would fit in with its strategy of female-focused superheroes. The networks current MCU show Agents of Shield is currently winding down with it’s seventh and last season.

Disney Plus is getting ready to come out in a big way. First off, it’s been revealed at the latest Disney investors meeting that Disney Plus will be available in a bundle with Hulu and ESPNPlus for the low low price of 12.99 and the first people who will be able to subscribe to Disney Plus will be members of D23, the Disney fan club. Rob Liefeld thinks he’s found a role for Dwayne The rock Johnson in the MCU. posting to instagram the comic creator posted. Quote Dearest @therock based on reports of outstanding chemistry between you and a familiar friend, I believe the next logical step is for you to join the Marvel Universe as Garrison Kane in a future Deadpool installment,” Liefeld wrote in the Instagram post. “You’re a natural and Kane is already celebrated by millions of comics fans who have thrilled to his adventures since I first introduced him in X-Force #2! Your pal, Rob!” Unquote

Would you like to see The Rock in Deadpool 3?

Speaking of actors. Amanda Seyfried speaking with MTV revealed that she turned down the chance for a major Marvel Cinematic Universe role because she didn’t want to be tied down by the role. Quote “I turned down [a Marvel Studios movie] once and they haven’t called back since,” Seyfried told MTV. “And it was a big’un. I don’t regret it because I didn’t want to be green for six months out of every year. They tell beautiful stories through superheroes, and my daughter’s now really obsessed with superheroes now, and part of me wishes I’d done it, but the other part of me is like ‘I had a life to live’ and I don’t think I would’ve been happy.”

So…she didn’t want to be green …could the role have been Gamora?

According to the New York Post, the New York City Council voted to approve a proposal to co-name University Avenue between Brandt Place and West 176th “Stan Lee Way.” The proposal still needs approval from Mayor Bill de Blasio. Lee formerly lived at 1720 University Place. He attended high school at DeWitt Clinton HS in the Bronx.

Lee died in November 2018.

Episode 34: The Orville Moves Picard to the Lower Decks & The Award For Best Comic News, Please?

Episode 34: The Orville Moves Picard to the Lower Decks

Tonight! San Diego Comicon gave us a lot of news, changes are coming to the Orville and we remember Rutger Haur and Jeremy Kemp on this SciFi edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the SciFi edition of Multiverse Tonight. I’m your host, Thomas Townley. We have a really news heavy episode this time with lots of news from San Diego Comicon.I promised a lot of news would drop and boy was I right, we will have a lot more star trek news coming out of Star Trek Las Vegas in the next episode so stay tuned. Be sure to check out the comics edition of Multiverse Tonight,  that episode drops a couple of days after this one. So let’s get on with the news.

Star Trek

First off we have a little Discovery news: At the Star Trek panel, a new character was introduced Cleveland Book Booker, played by David Ajala. He is described as mischievous and a rule breaker. Also revealed is that the ship is a bit lost, apparently they don’t arrive at Terralyseum as planned. No word on who the new captain will be.

Next the panel moved on to the new animated show Lower Decks, the half hour animated show from Mike McMahan about Four Ensigns aboard the USS Cerritos a California class ship. By the way, I looked up Cerritos and found out that it’s a suburb of Los Angeles, California. formerly named Dairy Valley because of the preponderance of dairy farms in the area,   The four ensigns are Ensign Beckett Mariner (voiced by Tawny Newsome), Ensign Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid), Ensign Tendi (Noël Wells), and Ensign Rutherford (Eugene Cordero). Beckett Mariner is described as someone who is very good at being in Starfleet but cares more about skateboarding than working, so she never gets promoted. Brad Boimler is booksmart, but way too in his head and nervous. Tendi is a super enthusiastic medical officer who starts the show on her first day in Starfleet. And Rutherford is compared to Geordi La Forge…except that he can never get anything done or solved. Plus, he just had a cyborg eye put in, so he’s still dealing with it. They have to deal with the senior officers, Captain Carol Freeman (voiced by Dawnn Lewis), Commander Jack Ransom (Jerry O’Connell), Lieutenant Shaxs (Fred Tatasciore), and Doctor T’ Ana a Catian.  (Gillian Vigman). McMahn told the audience that the show won’t poke fun at Star trek, the humor will come from the characters.

Finally the main attraction, Star trek Picard. Patrick Stewart was brought out and talked about his return to Star trek. The show will be quote “more lyrical, more grounded, and more dramatic.” unquote  Producer Akiva Goldsman went on to explain that the show will not be the Next Generation but more of a hybrid, slower more gentle more character based quote “a new kind of Star Trek show made by people who love old Star Trek shows.”

We also got introduced to new actors Alison Pill , who plays a yet unname researcher, Michelle Hurd, who said her character has a connection to Picards past and Santiago Cabrera an ex-Starfleet officer who is reluctant to join Picards quest. He kinda sounds like the Han Solo of the show. We also have word that there will be returning  characters to the cast. Marina Sirtis, Jonathan Frakes, Jeri Ryan ,Jonathan Del Arco and Brent Spiner will be a part of the show, the size of their roles is as of yet unknown. One thing we do know is that the show will start in 2020, probably right after Discovery’s third season.

We also got word on new Short Treks, we are getting six new episodes and Three will focus on the Enterprise and we know one will feature Spock and Number One trapped in a lift together and one will star H. Jon Benjamin and feature Tribbles, two will be animated and one will be a prelude to Star Trek Picard.

No News about any feature films.

But not all the news is about Trek is about what’s in front of the camera. IDW has announced another visit to the Mirror Universe, this time we visit The Mirror Voyager in Star Trek Voyage Mirrors and Smoke The one shot will be written by Paul Allor with art painted by JK Woodward and introduces quote Captain Janeway of the Voyager, a rebel ship stranded in the Delta Quadrant, far from the ruins of the Terran Empire. When Janeway crowns herself Pirate Queen of the Quadrant, the locals – including scavengers Neelix and Kes – won’t give up without a fight. Amidst this conflict, the crew of the Voyager has a second problem on their hands: just who is the Terran calling herself Annika Hansen, and can she be trusted?” The comic will be out in October. IDW also has future Mirror Universe one shots planned featuring the Original Series and DS9 Mirror crews.

Now while there is no Movie news from San Diego,Quentin tarantino, speaking with Deadline.com talked about what he expects from his Star Trek film quote “I will say one thing about Star Trek that I’ve been waiting for someone to bring up,” “I don’t know if I’ll do it or not. I’ve got to figure it out, but Mark wrote a really cool script. I like it a lot. There’s some things I need to work on but I really, really liked it. I get annoyed at Simon Pegg.””He doesn’t know anything about what’s going on and he keeps making all these comments as if he knows about stuff. One of the comments he said, he’s like ‘Well, look, it’s not going to be Pulp Fiction in space.’ Yes, it is! [laughs hard]. If I do it, that’s exactly what it’ll be. It’ll be Pulp Fiction in space. That Pulp Fiction-y aspect, when I read the script, I felt, I have never read a science fiction movie that has this sh*t in it, ever. There’s no science fiction movie that has this in it. And they said, I know, that’s why we want to make it. It’s, at the very least, unique in that regard.” Unquote  I’m guessing any movement on this will be awaiting the possible merger between CBS and Viacom. I also sounds like the film would probably be apart of the Kelvin Timeline. However he’s not happy about it, telling the Happy Sad Podcast quote “I still don’t quite understand, and JJ can’t explain it to me, and my editor has tried to explain it to me and I still don’t get it…about something happened in the first movie that now kind of wiped the slate clean. I don’t buy that. I don’t like it. I don’t appreciate it. I don’t — f*** that…I want the whole series to have happened, it just hasn’t happened yet. No, Benedict Cumberbatch or whatever his name is is not Khan, alright? Khan is Khan. And I told JJ, like, ‘I don’t understand this. I don’t like it.’ And then he was like, ‘Ignore it! Nobody likes it. I don’t understand it. Just do whatever you want. If you want it to happen the exact way it happens on the series it can.’” Unquote. So….what do you think of Quientin’s comments? Are you interested in his movie? Do you want to see it in the Kelvin Timeline?

Star Wars

We start Star Wars news with a confession from Margot Robbie, the breakout star of 2016’s Suicide Squad revealed to MTV News that shes neve seen Star Wars. Quote “I’ve never seen any Star Wars,” Robbie confessed to MTV News. “And I kind of don’t watch it now just because it infuriates people so much, like, ‘How? How have you never watched any Star Wars?’ And I just kinda wanna see how long I can make it now.” Unquote I guess my next question would be since she’s never actually seen any of it, what does she know about it just by picking things up second hand?

Mark Hammill was honored at SDCC with the Comic-con 2019 Icon Award by SDCC organizers. Mark in his acceptance speech told the crowd quote “Listen, I told you how lucky I feel to be able to do all of the things that I loved to do as a kid and get paid for it, so this just seems wildly excessive, but it is much appreciated,” Hamill said in his acceptance speech. “Thank you so much. I have to tell you, actors get up and they say ‘oh I have to share this with’ whoever their agent or whatever, but I … if it weren’t for you, I certainly wouldn’t be standing here. I started coming to these cons years before I met George [Lucas]. I remember, I was at the con when they said ‘did you hear? There’s going to be five thousand people this year’.” “So, I thank you very, very much and I just want you to remember, I am your buddy until the end. More than a buddy, I’m your best friend. I love you more than you will ever know. I will never let you go.”  Unquote The Icon Award is given to those who have been instrumental in bringing comics or popular arts to a wide audience. 10 others have been given the award including George Lucas, Stan Lee and Ray Bradbury.

The Rise of Skywalker is coming soon, but before we Rise with Skywalkers we should read with Skywalker.

Announced at San Diego, Marvel will released a four issue prelude series called Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker – Allegiance. The mini series will be written by Ethan Sacks and have art by Luke Ross.  No release date but we can probably expect it to come out in September. The movie will be released on December 20th.

Apparently The Rise of Skywalker will be something. According to Kevin Smith, in an interview with IGN he said quote ,”I have not seen it, but I was on set,” Smith revealed to IGN. “I went to London at one point and visited the set, [director] J.J. [Abrams] invited me, because I had the heart attack. When I had the heart attack, he wrote me and he was like, ‘You gotta pull through, man, so you can come visit Star Wars,’ and I was like, ‘Can I be in it?’ and he was like, ‘Come visit.’ I pulled through and I was the kind of asshole that wrote him back to be like, ‘Remember what you said?!’ and he was like, ‘Come on out.'”

“I got to hang out and be there on set and there was a scuttlebutt about a set there on Pinewood. A big set that they were like, ‘You have to see this. When you see it, it’ll melt your mind.’ And I was like, ‘What was it?’ and they were like, ‘Ask J.J.’ And so I asked J.J., ‘They keep telling me I should see the set,’ and he goes, ‘Don’t.’ I said, ‘Why?’ and he said, ‘It’s the last shot of the movie.’ So I was like, ‘Well now I really wanna see it,’ and he goes, ‘You don’t want this spoiled. You wanna be in a theater when this happens, trust me.’ And then other people on the crew were like, ‘Bro, I wish I hadn’t seen it. I’m glad I did, but it will melt your mind.'” Unquote

Saying that it will Melt your mind, that’s some claim Kevin. Let’s hope your correct.

So, have you wondered who the Knights of Ren are? We’ve gotten hints in the Force awakens and The last jedi. Well now a new comic will tell the tale of Kylo and the Knights in The Rise of Kylo Ren. The 4 issue mini series will be written by Charles Soule. The rise of Kylo ren will be launching in December before The Rise of Skywalker this winter.

Geek News

The Orville’s SDCC panel came with a bit of a surprise. A change of address. The show’s third season will be moving from Fox to Hulu when it returns in late 2020. The change was addressed by Series creator and Star Seth McFarlane who explained quote “The Orville has been a labor of love for me, and there are two companies which have supported that vision in a big way: 20th Century Fox Television, where I’ve had a deal since the start of my career, and FOX Broadcasting Company, now FOX Entertainment, which has been my broadcast home for over 20 years. My friends at the network understood what I was trying to do with this series, and they’ve done a spectacular job of marketing, launching and programming it for these past two seasons. But as the show has evolved and become more ambitious production-wise, I determined that I would not be able to deliver episodes until 2020, which would be challenging for the network. So we began to discuss how best to support the third season in a way that worked for the show. It’s exactly this kind of willingness to accommodate a show’s creative needs that’s made me want to stick around for so long. I am hugely indebted to Charlie Collier and FOX Entertainment for their generosity and look forward to developing future projects there. And to my new friends at Hulu, I look forward to our new partnership exploring the galaxy together,” unquote. This news has not gone over well with a segment of the fanbase, but most seem to be looking forward to the shows new home. By the way, Hulu is majority owned by Fox parent company Disney.

Hulu not only has The Orville, but just announced, Hulu will be the home to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series. The series is coming from Carlton Cuse and writer Jason Fuchs and will be produced at ABC Signature, the streaming division of ABC. Cuse and Fuchs will write, executive produce and showrun a modern adaptation of the classic story from Douglas Adams. No air date has been given.

Speaking of shows that have moved to online pastures, The Expanse season four premiere date has finally been announced. The series which was canceled by SyFY last year has been revived by Amazon after the fanbase got 100000 signatures to save the show. The show will come to the streaming service on December 13th.

Get ready to spend more on Halloween With Michael Myers. Universal Pictures has announced two new Halloween sequels one for 2020 and one for 2021 The first movie will be titled Halloween Kills and open on October 16, 2020 and the second called Halloween Ends will open on October 15, 2021. Borth will be directed by David Gordon Green and both will star Jamie Curtis with Nick Castle returning as Michael who comes back to Haddonfield for one fo r showdown with his sister.

Episode 35: An Award full of Comicon News

Tonight! IOur Comic news cup runeth over, plus we look at who walked away with Eisner Awards on this comics edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to Multiverse Tonight! I’m your host Thomas Townley. Well San Diego Comic Con dumped a lot of news. If you didn’t listen to the sci fi edition, just go back one episode and listen to a lot of good news there.

Marvel

We all miss Stan Lee since he passed away last year. At this years SDCC, Stan’s company POW! Entertainment announced the development of a new animated series, The Amazing Stan, produced in conjunction with Pure Imagination Studios. The series will focus on a young Stan Lee in grade school showing off his imagination at a young age. the constant dreamer who treats his childhood like a testing ground for adventures that will one day fuel his world-famous characters. Stan and his friends imagine themselves in and out of these amazing experiences as they learn to take risks, explore new ideas, and never ever give up. It’s very similar to the old Fox cartoon Bobby’s World. There is no word on where or when the show will air.

Doctor Doom is getting his own comic series. Doctor Doom will be written by AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire creator Chris Cantwell and have art by Salvador Larroca. The series will find Victor Von Doom at a bit of a crossroads in his life, According to the release quote “After spending much of his time warning against a trillion-dollar global effort to create the first ‘artificial’ black hole, Doom is now wrestling with visions of an entirely different life and a better future. But when a massive terrorist attack results in massive casualties, Doom is the prime suspect. What will happen when Doctor Doom is running from the law — and himself?” Doctor Doom IS The Prisoner!

Well congrats to Avengers Endgame for finally crossing that finish line and passing Avatar to become the No.1 Grossing Film of All Time (not adjusted for inflation) Avatar will probably have a chance to get that back, a re release of Avatar is expected before Avatar 2 comes out.

While we’re on the subject,

In Endgame, one of the best moments was the handoff of the title of Captain America to the Falcon. The Falcon will now return in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier on Disney Plus. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, speaking to MTV news at Comiccon,Mackie did confirm that he will be wearing a Captain America suit in the show. Saying quote “It looks really good.” unquote

So let’s get into that post endgame Phase of Marvel. At the Marvel Hall H Panel,Kevin Feige, president of Marvel studios laid it all out first up Black Widow on May Day of 2020. The Eternals on November 6, 2020. Shang-chi and the legend of the ten rings, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness on May 7, 2021. Thor Love & Thunder. Also revealed was a new Blade movie starring Maherala Ali. Also still in the offing are Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2 Guardians 3 and Spider-man 3. Fiege also dropped word that they’re working on Fantastic Four and X-Men getting MCU movies at some point and then that an all new all different Avengers team movie will arrive at some point too. I say make it Avengers vs X-Men.

On the Disney Plus side we have The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Wandavision, Loki, Hawkeye and what if…

What if is rather interesting, it’s an animated series and will have a slew of guest stars. The list includes (Michael B. Jordan), (Sebastian Stan), (Josh Brolin), (Mark Ruffalo), (Tom Hiddleston), (Samuel L. Jackson), (Chris Hemsworth), (Hayley Atwell),  (Chadwick Boseman), (Karen Gillan), (Jeremy Renner), (Paul Rudd)(Michael Douglas), (Neal McDonough), (Dominic Cooper), (Sean Gunn), (Natalie Portman), (David Dastmalchian), (Stanley Tucci), (Taika Waititi), (Toby Jones), (Djimon Hounsou), (Jeff Goldblum), (Michael Rooker), and (Chris Sullivan). All coming back to voice their MCU roles with Jeffery Wright narrating the series as The Watcher. We will get stories like What if Peggy Carter became the super soldier. I’m very much looking forward to it.

Here’s something weird for you. A woman in Nebraska has decried that a statue as demonic and anti christian because she believes it’s representative of the Devil. Thing is, it’s a statue of Spider-man’s hands in the web shooter posse with webs coming out of the wrists.

According to the Lincoln Journal Star reports that an email was sent to Lincoln mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird from an unidentified woman  saying that quote “It is a sculpture of two hands open, painted Red & Black, and formed into Devil Horns, she also called the six foot sculpture ugly and asked that it be moved because it’s a hate crime against the church,

The statue is one of 50 statues in an art project called Serving Hands Lincoln. The city will not be seeking to remove the sculpture which will be available for auction on October 25 to benefit the non profit organization Campus Life.

DC news

Lucifer is in its final season. The final season was originally going to be 10 episodes long. But Netflix has announced that it will pick up the show for an additional six episodes to help give the show proper time to wind down. Reminds me that I have to catch up.

This fall will see the end of Arrow. The hit CW show is ending after eight seasons. Entertainment Weekly as part of an Arrowverse cover shoot with the magazine released a video https://twitter.com/EW/status/1152057975487418376

Work on this last season has been a bit exciting for series star Stephan Amell, so much that the night before he was set to tape his first scene for the season he was having difficulty sleeping. He tweeted at 102 Am quote Going to have a tough time sleeping tonight. Work tomorrow is going to be pretty fucking cool. Well let’s see if he goes out with a bang.  Arrow’s final season begins on October 15th.

Looks like James Olsen might be going back to Metropolis, according to Entertainment Weekly Mehcad Brooks will be leaving Supergirl in the first half of season five. Brooks will be leaving the show to focus on feature films, developing his own cable series and working on a book. No word on how his character will leave, but according to showrunners Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller, the door will remain open for Mechad to return.  A polished businesswoman and heir to a Central American tech empire, Andrea Rojas (aka Acrata) is now making a hostile advance into the world of media. Unapologetic and unafraid to make waves, she also holds a mystical secret. Julie Gonzalo will first appear as Rojas in the season premiere. British actor Staz Nair from Game of Thrones will play a very different character than a Dothraki warrior, Staz will play William Dey a hardened reporter who seems to be a cynic and a sellout who looks down on Kara’s idealism. Dey’s not here to make friends, he just wants to get the story, but his criminal underworld ties could be problematic. He sounds like a very shallow character to me, one created to just get in trouble so he can be saved. Supergril come back on October sixth.

At SDCC’s Batwoman panel, it was revealed that the series will introduce Tommy Elliot, the man who will eventually become the super villain Hush. Hush first appeared as part of a 12 part story in Batman issues 608 to 619.

And while we’re on the Arrowverse, we have to talk about this year’s big crossover. This year it will be their version of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Brandon Routh will be back this time as Superman and at SDCC it was revealed that he would be a Superman based on Kingdom Come. It’s unclear how this Superman will fit into the crossover. The crossover will debut across Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl and the new series Batwoman later this year.

Now over to the DC Universe, An accident has taken the life of Titans special effects coordinator Warren Appleby has passed away after being struck by a heavy object while filming the series. According to a report from TMZ the incident took place at a test facility where the crew tests out stunts they plan to enact out in the show.  The stunt included a car flipping onto its side unfortunately a piece of shrapnel flew off and struck Mr. Appleby in the head. He died in route to a Toronto hospital. Warner Bros Television issued a statement about this tragedy quote “We are heartbroken and devastated by the passing of our treasured colleague, special effects coordinator Warren Appleby, after an accident which occurred at a special effects facility during the preparation and testing for an upcoming shoot. Warren is beloved by all who worked with him during an impressive 25-year career in television and motion pictures. The executive producers, along with everyone, in Titans family, Warner Bros. Television Group and DC UNIVERSE, wish to express our deepest condolences, and heartfelt love and support, to Warren’s family and friends at this most difficult time.”

Production was shut down for two days and Canada’s Ministry of Labour is now investigating the accident.

In comics news, DC Comics has announced a new Birds of Prey Series that will star Harley Quinn, Black Canary and Huntress. The new comic will be out in October and will be written by Brian Azzarello with art by Emanuela Lupacchino, Ray McCarthy and trish Mulvihill.

Mr. Azzarello in the press release said quote “It’s cool to have a story to tell about these characters I’ve never worked on before, with Ema, a terrific artist I’ve never worked with before. Having Harley involved screws with the new BOP dynamic—hell, with every dynamic. She’s chaos, but she might be the most together member of the team. Canary, Huntress, and Montoya have a lot of damaged baggage. Ema and I are gonna unpack it.” The plot according to the press release is quote  “Black Canary’s life has spiraled out of control: her personal life is going through the wringer and her band is in crisis. An old flame resurfaces only to flicker out and set Dinah on an all-new mission against an all-new opponent: Las Esposas de la Muerte. The only thing Dinah can be grateful for is the fact that she’s not alone, as Huntress finds herself on a collision course with Black Canary’s quarry at Detective Montoya’s urging. Meanwhile, Harley Quinn has resurfaced outside of Gotham City and out of the Suicide Squad, with a new lease on life that is sure to make everyone’s life more complicated. And that’s only the first five pages of this dynamic new ongoing series!”

Good News Tom King fans. Tom King is going to be writing the New Gods of movie. King will be collaborating with New Gods director Ava DuVernay on the script, although it’s not known if Ava will be co writing or just giving her input. King is will suited for the task having written Mister Miracle. There is still no word on when filming might start or a release date.

DC Universe Online is coming to Nintendo Switch on August 6th. The game launched in 2011 and is free to play. The one setback is if you have an account on another platform, you won’t be able to port it over to the Switch.

Batman Beyond is finally getting a release on Bluray. Warner Bros Home Entertainment announced at SDCC that the series will becoming to Bluray on October 29th and digital download on October fifteenth. This year marks the series 20th anniversary. All 52 episodes will be on a four disc set along with two bonus discs and a remastered version of Batman Beyond Return of the Joker.
