Show Notes: Episode 66: Let The Child waffle about Picard & Episode 67:That Batmobile is not street legal

Tonight! The Why of Picard, The Child makes waffles and we remember the Man who brought Ming The Merciless to life! All that and more on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to Episode 66 of Multiverse tonight. I have some sad news to start this episode. I’ve had a death in the family. Our dog Fanny has passed away. She stopped eating and drinking a few days ago and then on Sunday she passed away. It hurts, but I know I’ll get over it. To quote George Carlin, “Life is a series of dogs.” unquote And Fanny was a very good dog.

Star Trek

So you’ve been watching Star Trek Picard, but you have concerns about the violence in darkness especially the recent scenes in the episode Stardust City rag where we saw poor Icheb getting unwanted surgery and Seven of Nine deciding to go all Dirty Harry on the person who killed her friend. Some fans have even taken their concerns to Showrunner Michael Chabon on his Instagram. His answer quote “I am not unambivalent about the violence, myself,” Chabon writes on Instagram. “The choice was not made lightly, though it was made collaboratively, and therefore with a good deal of conversation and debate among the creators. And so I assure you that it is not there simply ‘because we can,’ or because we are trying, as you somewhat uncharitably put it, to be ‘in.’ My partners would all have their own reasons for its presence in this story, as some of us had our own reasons for shying away from it. For me, it came down to this: there has always been violence (and even torture) in Star Trek. Sometimes that violence has been implicit, sometimes explicit, according to the dictates of censorship, the nature of the situation being depicted, the aesthetic of individual creators, or technical and/or budgetary limitations. And the reason that there has always been violence in Trek is that Trek is art, and there has always been violence—implicit and explicit—in art. It belongs there. It belongs in any narrative about human beings, even human beings of the future. Violence, often, *is* the narrative. Its source. Its engine. The question of whether it’s “too much” or not is ultimately a matter of taste. Personally, I come out closer to the “less is more” end. But that is just me. In the end, I saw how little time and space we had to convey a sense of Seven’s history post-Voyager, and the things that drive and haunt her. I decided, with my partners, that intensity was warranted. Seven lives outside the rationale confines of the Federation, because that is where she finds her sense of purpose. But life is hard, out there. If it wasn’t, people wouldn’t need her help so badly. And she wouldn’t have found such a compelling reason to carry on, in spite of her history of trauma. But, I hear you.” unquote

In other words, it was a necessary evil in order to tell the story

However Mister Chabon wasn’t finished, he also talked about the show’s tone and how it reflects our current reality. Quote “First of all, I think that the phrase (or a version of it) ‘Star Trek has always reflected its time” is open to multiple, potentially conflicting interpretations,’ he writes. “It can mean, ‘Individual Star Trek series have always (consciously) reflected thematically many of the most pressing issues of the time when they were made.’ I think that’s the sense intended by people involved with making the two current series, and it’s pretty obviously true—starting with persistent themes of nuclear annihilation, racial prejudice, mechanization, totalitarianism vs liberal democracy, on TOS, through DS9 with its themes of individual vs group identity, chosen family, reason vs faith, and the inevitable moral compromises of war. (That’s only the *conscious* ways in which Trek has reflected the times in which it was made.) But the phrase could also be taken the way (I think) you take it: that the world, the milieu depicted by Star Trek—the characters and their interactions, their capabilities and limitations as individuals, the social institutions and mores and technologies and economics and culture—reflects the world and era in which it was made. I think you’re saying that this is wrong, that here is exactly where Trek doesn’t, hasn’t. and *shouldn’t* reflect the world and times. That it has always presented its crews, Starfleet, and the Federation as improvements, as realizations of our best potential, as aspirational. If Trek has reflected our world, it’s in a kind of utopian funhouse mirror, where everything looks better. I would say that by and large that has been true, though possibly not as to the degree that many Trek fans claim, or feel. But there’s another side to the world—the people and society—depicted in Star Trek, which is all the characters, planets, cultures, mores and interactions that take place outside of Starfleet, the Federation. Many of these “outside” cultures and characters—the empires and alliances and unions— *have* deliberately reflected aspects of our world, with its all imperfection, intolerance, brutality, its humiliations and injustices, its evils. I don’t mean just in a thematic sense, but in the behavior of individual non-Federation, non-Starfleet characters, in the construction of societies around prejudices and inequalities, violence, lust for power, etc.

“That brings us to Picard. In the one, long, ten-part story we’re telling, we’re asking two questions about the greater world of Star Trek (i.e, the Federation *and* everything outside the Federation). One—a venerable Star Trek question, with a long pedigree in previous series and films: What happens when the Federation, the Roddenberry Federation with all its enlightened and noble intentions, free from want, disease, (internal) war, greed, capitalism, intolerance, etc., is tested by forces inimical to its values? What happens when two of its essential principles; (security and liberty, say) come into conflict? The answer has to be—at first, it buckles. It wobbles. It may, to some extent, compromise or even betray its values, or at the very least be sorely tempted to do so. If not, there’s no point asking the question, though it’s a question that any society with aspirations like ours or the Federation’s needs to ask. If nothing can ever truly test the Federation, if nothing can rock its perfection, then it’s just a magical land. It’s Lothlorien, in its enchanted bubble, untouchable by the Shadow. And, also, profoundly *inhuman*. To me it’s the humanity of the Federation—which means among many admirable things, its imperfection, its vulnerability and the constant need to defend it from our own worst natures—that makes it truly inspiring. The other, related question we’re asking is: What about the people who live outside, at the edges (or even within) the Federation but who, for various reasons, aren’t quite *of* it. Ex-Starfleet officers, refugees, people like Seven who served on a Starfleet ship but was never actually in Starfleet. People who have fallen through the cracks, or fallen victim to their own weaknesses. What is life like for people who, for whatever reason, live beyond the benevolent boundaries of the Federation—where, for example, post-scarcity is a dream, and there is a monetary economy? Again, there is precedent for this kind of story on Trek, but the fact that our story only resolves over ten episodes, not one, or two, or four out of a season of 23, might make it feel, sometimes, that there is more darkness, more trauma in our characters’ lives. More *struggle.* This show unquestionably has darker tonalities than some others (DS9 is the standout exception). It lives more in the shadows, where the Federation’s light can’t always reach. That isn’t to condemn, criticize, undo, break or, god knows, betray the Federation or Gene Roddenberry’s vision. Shadow defines light.

Every new Trek series since TNG has sought to escape what can feel like the confines of previous series, not simply of canon (which can also be a strangely liberating force) but of the kinds of stories, about the kinds of characters and societies, that have already been told. Each new series has expressed this impulse to “light out for the territories” in a different way. TNG went a century into the future of TOS. DS9 went onto a station full of aliens that was both beyond the edge of the Federation and next to a wormhole that led to the Gamma Quadrant. VOY put 70k light-years between it and its predecessors, and introduced a raft of new species and worlds. ENT went deep into the early past of the Federation. Next season’s DIS goes to the Trek universe’s far-future.

“The space we found for Picard is not ‘dark Federation.’ It’s one of people who live and work at or beyond the margins of the Federation who travel beyond its boundaries to find the truth.” unquote Well we can definitely say he’s a writer, that was a lot of words.

He also had more to say on Twitter when asked if  there was a connection between the state of the Federation in Picard and the state of the Federation in the 32nd century that Discovery season three will take place in. Mister Chabon replied quote “‘Federation downfall?’ What Federation downfall? The Federation is still very much alive and well and home to trillions (quadrillions?) of safe, housed, fed, educated citizens with the potential to lead fulfilling lives,” Chabon said. “There was a crisis 15 years ago, in the wake of the costly Dominion War and the Romulan emergency, which had a negative impact on the lives of many people, including most of our principal characters, in one way or another, during which Starfleet (and by extension the Federation) did not acquit itself well – in Picard’s eyes. From Admiral Clancy’s viewpoint, which is likely the mainstream view, Picard’s attitude was unrealistic, quixotic, and even dangerous. She may be right! They may both be right, and both wrong. But that was fifteen years ago, and the Federation is still going strong. Perhaps in the eyes of some it lost its luster, its air of invulnerability, its claim to the moral high ground, a process that began during DS9 times. That is hardly a ‘downfall’, though.” unquote

As to another fans question as to why Picard doesn’t make reference to the Dominion War in the show Chabon answered that he had planned to originally but was convinced not to by colleagues that doing so might confuse newer fans. Bad move Chabon, for one. Fans know about it. New fans will go back and watch DS9 to find out about it or they’ll find out about it from the internet. It’s all right to have continuity that not everyone has seen. People are adaptable. You’re kinda telling us that we’re not smart enough to do the homework. Again, bad move. Trust your audience.

Robert Picardo says that he’s in talks to appear in season two of Picard. He could either appear as the EMH creator Lewis Zimmerman, an EMH, or The Doctor. He’s quoted as saying “I am pleased that they (CBS) have expressed interest in me,” “They have reached out to my agent about next season. So I’m looking forward to seeing what it is. As you know I play two characters, primarily the Doctor but also Lewis Zimmerman. Lewis Zimmerman, the engineer who created the Doctor’s program, certainly would have aged. He’s in the same timeline as Patrick Stewart and all the [Star Trek: The Next Generation] folk. The Doctor, of course, like Data doesn’t age, but there are ways to address that, as we all know. I joked the other day that my daughter does visual effects, that’s exactly what she does is digitally correct actors so I said, ‘If they hire the two of us, she could make me look 25 years younger. Anyway, it will interesting to see when something happens, if something but, but I might have a chance to be onscreen with Jeri again. It would be an honor and a delight, obviously, to have scenes with Patrick Stewart so, you know, we’ll keep our fingers crossed.”

Star Trek Voyager is turning twenty five, so far we’ve seen Jeri Ryan return as seven of nine on Picard and  a group getting a monument erected in Captain Janeway’s hometown of Bloomington Illinois. Now 455 films is producing a documentary about the series. 455 films has previously done the Star Trek documentaries, the Captains, Chaos on the Bridge and For the Love of Spock. Studio president David Zappone hinted about what was coming on twitter saying quote  “Okay. Who likes Star Trek Voyager, and thinks it deserves to have a documentary to commemorate its 25th anniversary?” unquote He also confirmed that they will be filming during Star Trek : The Cruise IV filming testimonials from Voyager fans. The cruise this year has a Voyager theme and guests on the cruise include Kate Mulgrew, Jeri Ryan, Robert Picardo, Roxann Dawson, Ethan Phillips, Tim Russ, and Garrett Wang. No word on when the documentary will be out, but I’m guessing this fall.

So, have you ever been watching the classic episode The Trouble with Tribbles and wondered how long it would have taken to fill up the ship with the cooing balls of fur? No? Well someone has to answer questions like this. So a group of undergrads at the University of Leicester in the UK calculated the growth rate of the tribbles and published a paper on it. It was a relatively simple calculation involving an exponential formula. Spock gave the initial set of variables in teh episode estimates that each tribble (born pregnant) can give birth to ten more tribbles in 12 hours and puts the number of tribbles on board after just three days at 1,777,561. The students, assuming that Spock’s assessment was correct and presuming that no tribbles died. They came to the estimate that it would take 18.4 x10 to the 9th power and also estimated that it would take 18.4×109 tribbles to entirely fill the USS Enterprise. That’s 18 billion, 400 million tribbles. So under those conditions, they came to the conclusion that it would take 4.5 days for tribbles to completely fill the ship. That’s a lot of tribbles. Of course, in the episode the tribbles had been poisoned to death by contaminated quadrotriticale. In that case the authors proposed a further paper saying quote “A further calculation including a ‘death term’ could be done, to find out how long it would take for the population to become extinct, if there was an unlimited supply of toxic grain,” unquote

Some sad news. Star Trek Discovery actor Kenneth Mitchell, who has played three different Klingons in Discovery’s first two seasons: Kol, Kol-Sha and Tenavik has revealed that he has been diagnosed with ALS aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease. He was originally diagnosed back in 2018. A few months ago in October, he was forced to use a wheelchair. In an interview with People magazine he said quote “The moment that they told us it was [ALS], it was like I was in my own movie,” “That’s what it felt like, like I was watching that scene where someone is being told that they have a terminal illness. It was just a complete disbelief, a shock.” “I’ll never forget, one of my Star Trek co stars told me, because they had dealt with some trying times with illnesses and stuff, and I remember them communicating to me, saying, ‘You have a choice. You can look at this in many different ways, but maybe try to look at this like a gift where you get to experience life in a way that most people don’t,” unquote However, he’s not going to try to be down about it, he told People that he and others are  looking into new roles with his diagnosis in mind.

Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo has a new baby daughter. Joonas and his wife Milla Pohjasvaara welcomed their second child on Friday the twenty eighth.  The man who took over the role of Chewy during the final movie in the sequel trilogy posted an announcement on Instagram with a caption on a photo of his daughter saying quote “We have some exciting news: we were blessed to welcome the newest member of our family!”“Our little princess (or senator, or general, or whatever she wants to be!) was born this week and is doing great. Unquote He went on to thank the hospital staff. And ended it with quote Welcome to the world Princess Bacca! Unquote He would later clarify that she has not been named yet and that Bacca is just a nickname. When her and her brother are older, maybe they should all go trick or treating as the Chewy family…or show up at Star Wars celebration in costume….or film an all new Star Wars holiday special….nah.

One of the complaints about the rise of skywalker was the feel of missing scenes. By the way, as an old timer, as someone who’s been around the block, the one thing I can tell you if you want different takes of scenes or missing scenes, check out the novelization of the comic adaptation. And sure enough, the novelization for The Rise of Skywalker has something that was missing when Ben Solo passed away. His last words. According to the book it goes like this quote  “A voice came to her through the Force, clear and strong. I will always be with you, Ben said, “She smiled. Let the truth of it wash over her. ‘No one’s ever really gone,’ she whispered.” unquote Bly the way, if you’re wondering if Ben’s force ghost “shows” up in the book? Nope. It’s been confirmed that there’s not a ghost of a chance of that. The novelization of Star Wars the rise of Skywalker comes out on March seventeenth The comic adaptation which sounds like it will have some added material as well, will come out this summer in June and the movie comes out on digital on that date and the disc versions hit shelves on March thirty first.

The Mandalorian will be premiering on ProSieben in Germany on MMarch 22nd prior to the launch of Disney Plus on March twenty fourth. The First episode will air as part of a Star Wars night on the broadcaster that ends with the German Free t premiere of The Last Jedi. However there is bad news for Amazon Fire users in germany as according to German tech News Site Heise Onlinen, Disney recently removed the Amazon media player from it’s supported device list. If that changes before launch I’ll let you know.

The Mandalorians Visual Production Supervisor for ILM Visual effects Ian Milham gave some behind the scenes explanations of how some of the scenes were brought to life. On twitter he wrote quote, For space fights, we populated the scene with lasers and explosions in different quadrants and distances, hooked them up to custom buttons on the iPad, and let the director go to town. Like playing X-Wing vs. TIE on a 70 ft screen. Season two of the Mandalorian comes out in October.

By the way there is now an official The Child Waffle Maker, although since it prints The child and The mandalorian logo on it, it looks more like a pancake than a waffle. A relatively flat waffle is always a pancake. If you want one they cost about 40 dollars and can be preordered from Gamestop. Gamestop, it’s still a thing.

Lucasfilm is preparing to launch new adventures in an old point in Star Wars history. Star Wars The High Republic takes place at the Galactic republic and Jedi Order’s high point some 200 years before the events of The Phantom Menace. Since this unexplored section of Galactic history is untapped the creators have free reign to make what they want. New adventures, new characters and new merchandising. In a statement Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain about this new venture said quote  “Star Wars: The High Republic features the Jedi as we’ve always wanted to see them — as true guardians of peace and justice. This is a hopeful, optimistic time, when the Jedi and the Galactic Republic are at their height. But of course, into this glorious new era something wicked this way comes,” says Lucasfilm publishing creative director Michael Siglain. “This initiative will give readers young and old a new corner of the galaxy to explore through rich, meaningful stories. Plus, readers will learn what scares the Jedi.”

The first books and comics are set to debut at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim in August with Star Wars The high republic ight of the Jedi being a massive interconnected story that’s told across various formats by various publishers. Including Star Wars: The High Republic: Into the Dark by Claudia Gray, Star Wars: The High Republic: A Test of Courage by Justina Ireland, Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures by Daniel José Older (IDW Publishing comic book series)Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures by Daniel José Older (IDW Publishing comic book series), Star Wars: The High Republic by Cavan Scott (Marvel comic book series) and Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule (Adult novel,

Syy has announced that the Magicians will be ending this April. THe show’s fifth season will be it’s last. The show, based on the series of novels by the same name, premiered back on Syfy in January of 2016 and has been one of the most consistent shows Syfy had on it’s schedule.  In a statement the channel said quote “‘The Magicians’ has been a part of our Syfy family for five fantastic seasons. As we near the end of this journey, we want to thank John McNamara, Sera Gamble, Henry Alonso Myers, Lev Grossman, and our entire brilliant cast, crew, writers and directors for their beautiful creation. But most of all, we thank the fans for their tremendous support and passion. Because of you, magic will be in our hearts forever,”

SYFY is definitely on a streak now, they’ve also canceled the third annual Leprechaun St. Patrick’s Day Marathon. The past couple of years, the network has aired all the Leprechaun movies back to back, this year it will just show Leprechaun’s Revenge and Leprechaun Returns.  Well I guess you can always stream the rest.

Jason Blum would love to build himself a Frankenstien….movie. Talking with the Evolution of Horror Podcast the producer said quote “I’d love to do Frankenstein. I’ve tasked our filmmakers with trying to figure out just straight Frankenstein,“”Again, I don’t know if someone else is doing it, I don’t know anything about it, but I would love to try and I’m waiting for the great idea. The Invisible Man, I agree, the best ideas feel like, ‘My gosh, it’s so obvious, why didn’t that happen before?’ If we could come up with something as good for Frankenstein, I’d love to try that.” unquote

Octavia E. Butler’s novel Dawn will be made into a tv series for Amazon. The drama has been given a direct to series order will be written and directed by Victoria Mahoney who was the second unit director on The Rise of Skywalker, she will be teaming up with Ava DuVernay, the director of Disney’s big budget A Wrinkle in Time adaptation. The novel was published in 1987 and follows s

around an African American woman who works with aliens to resurrect the human race some 250 years after a nuclear war. There is no word on when it will be produced or aired.

The tenth season of American Horror Story will have Macculy Culkin joining the cast for the new story. Ryan Murphy shared the news of the casting with an instagram video of what resembled the opening credits to the tune of Orville Pecks’ Dead of Night. Season ten will premiere in the fall of 2020.

Stranger things Finn Wolfhard is set to star in the thriller movie Rules For Werewolves based on a short film of the same name that also started Finn. The film will be based on writer Kirk Lynn’s debut novel which he also adapted for the screen. Deadline reports that the film quote “investigates the rituals and rhythms of a pack of wild teens as they break in and loot a new home, leaving someone (or something) behind for the cops to find.” unquote/ It’s also being reported that the movie will be done in one single take, mostly.

Well we’re gonna have to wait to find out about the new shows coming out in the Fall 2020 season. Due to fears about the spreading CoVid 19 corona virus, a lot of upfronts have been either cancelled or postponed. Also the new James Bond film No Time To Die has been pushed back from April to November and Peter Rabbit 2 has been pushed back from April to August. I’m guessing we’ll have to learn about what will get quickly cancelled some other way.

Actor Max Von Sydow has passed away. The man born Carl Adolf von Sydow was born on April 10, 1929 in Lund Sweden He grew up to star in more than 100 films and tv shows, including eleven films by famed director Ingmar Bergman including The Seventh Seal which saw him playing a chess game with death. Modern movie fans might know him as Father Lankester Merrin from The Exorcist and The Exorcist II, Ming The Merciless from Flash Gordon, King Osric in Conan the Barbarian. Doctor Kynes in Dune. The voice of Vigo the Carpathian in Ghostbusters II, Judge Fargo in Judge Dread, Director Lamar Burgess in Minority Report and Lor Saan Tekka in Star Wars The Force Awakens and many many more.

He was married twice and had two sons. Max Von Sydow died on March eighth at the age of 90.

Tonight! Lucifer’s sixth season might be reality, The Sandman becomes an audio drama and Etch A Sketch goes variants. All that and more on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to Episode 67 of Multiverse tonight. I’ve had quite a month. Got my tax refund, bought a second monitor for my studio, grieved over the loss of a favorite dog, now I have Planet Comicon in Kansas City in a week.  I don’t exactly know what I’ll get from Planet Comicon, some photos, definatly an interview with Author Dayton Ward, maybe an interview with an author or comic book person or two. We will see. This Con isn’t just a work thing for me, it’s really the only true vacation I get. Now if you’d like to see me go to more cons, you have to help fund me. Just go to my website Mutiversetonight.com.

DC

It looks like Lucifer might just get that sixth season. TV Line is reporting that Tom Ellis finalized a new deal for season six and a couple of weeks ago co showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson have inked season six deals. Netflix is currently in talks with Warner Bros TV to bring about one more season of the show. The show was rescued by Netflix back in 2018 after three seasons on Fox. Come on Warner Bros, just one more time!

Nathan Fillion is well traveled. He’s been in lots of franchises. Firefly, Buffy, the MCU and animated green lantern,  etc. His upcoming appearance in the Suicide Squad will be new franchise. So why join the DC Universe easy. Two words quote “James Gun.” Nathan told ET Canada quote “James Gunn (is) one of the people in my life that when he calls I just pick up the phone and say ‘yes to whatever you’re about to say, it’s yes, the answer is yes,'” “James Gunn is an amazing storyteller, that guy understands story and he loves to tell story. So when he wants to do something you know it’s gonna be fun, you know it’s gonna be satisfying… So here he is with Suicide Squad 2, he asks me to come down. What can I say about it? It’s so secret, I get stressed when people talk about it. Here’s what I can tell you though, huge scope. I’ve never done anything so big.” unquote.

The movie is still filming, having wrapped the Panama part of its production and is scheduled for release August sixth 2021.

Also wrapped work on the movie is actor David Dastmalchian. That news came via James Guns instagram saying quote “And that’s a wrap on @dastmalchian who gave me this amazing art by @lukas.ketner as a wrap gift! I happened to be wearing my @countcrowley T-shirt (Dave and Lukas’s great comic series). Thanks David – you’ve been amazing to work with in every way. I can’t wait for people to see what we’ve cooked up. ❤️,” unquote

Police in Moscow towed a homemade Batmobile. The replica on the Batmobile from Batman v Superman. According to a Moscow interior ministry spokesman, the vehicle was too wide for the city streets and had not been certified as roadworthy. The vehicle and it’s 32 year old driver was stopped in Moscow on a Saturday in western Moscow and towed away wrapped in tape and black plastic.  The cost of the vehicle was about 842,100 american.

The Batman has moved along the past couple of weeks. A photo of a batsuit has leaked as well as a pic of the batmobile. Too say I’m just not impressed yet….eh.  Well now a new member has joined the cast, Gill Perez-Abraham is in another unknown role. Gil has appeared on Orange is the New Black and Pose and he will also be seen in The walking Dead’s NEW spinoff The Walking Dead World beyond. Yep. Dear Warner Bros, I need more info than that. And while we’re on it AMC? STOP IT WITH THE WALKING DEAD, we’re tired of it already.  Anyway.

FX’s Y The last Man is still around and it has a new Yorick Brown. Variety has learned that Ben Schnetzer will be taken over the role. Originally Barry Keoghan was slated to star in the show based on the DC Comics series of the asme name. But he left earlier this month. Mr. Schnetzer joins a cast that includes Diane Lane, Imogen Poots and Amber Tamblyn. The show will start production in April.

Statues of Batman and Wonder Woman have been erected in London’s Leicester Square. To commemorate the three hundred fiftieth anniversary of the London landmark, bronze statues commemorating various cinematic icons have been put in the area. Batman’s statue depicts him on a rooftop standing triumphantly as he looks down at the ground below. Wonder Woman showcases the warrior princess charging forward and busting through a wall. Leicester Square have become synonymous with the british film industry for years. Movies have premiered at the Odeon Leicester Square Cinema, the Prince Charles Cinema has become famous for screening various cult favorites. Other statues include Paddington Bear, Mr. Bean, Mary Poppins, Laurel and Hardy, Bugs Bunny and Don Lockwood from Singin’ in the Rain. The statues will stay there until June.

Jim Lee says Dan Didio is irreplaceable. During his panel at C2E2, by the way for coverage of that, head on over to Scifi4me dot com. Jason and his wife were there all weekend and have some interesting takes, so go check it out. Anyway, at the panel DC last publisher standing and Chief Creative officer Jim Lee indicated that Didio will not be replaced quote “There’s continually new things going on, and I look at being sole publisher now and the team I’m working with. Much more in trenches now than ever before.” “We’ve been with Warner Bros. for decades,” “The actual strategy for DC is to put publishing at center of what we do. It’s the engine of all the movies, TV, cartoons, we do. And so its my intent going forward as the Publisher, to lean into the collective years of my team.” unquote.

By the way, those who have been concerned about DC’s demise. Lee  said quote “To address some of the stuff that is out there, there’s rumors… speculation,” Lee explained. “I wouldn’t put any credence into it. DC has been around for 85 years, and we’ll be around for another 85 years. I hope to be doing this panel in 85 years.” unquote. Unless he’s a head in a jar, my guess is no.

DC’s The Sandman will be adapted into a multipart audio drama for Amazon’s Audible. The series will be narrated and executive produced by Sandman co creator Neil Gaiman and written and directed by Dirk Maggs. In a statement Neil said quote “Almost 30 years ago, Dirk Maggs approached DC about adapting The Sandman into audio form,” Gaiman said in a statement. “I’m glad it didn’t happen, because we are in a Golden Age of audio drama right now, and Dirk and I are much better at what we are doing. This is a rich audio adaptation of The Sandman graphic novels, brilliantly crafted by Dirk Maggs, with an all-star cast.” The audio drama is scheduled to come out this summer with plans for French, German, Italian and Spanish editions soon after.

Marvel

Production on any level is demanding. But it’s really demanding if you’re making an action packed series like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Star Anthony Mackie spoke with The Daily Beast about the demands on Marvel’s newest series and if there was any pressure. He told them quote . “Not at all. I feel like, if we’re going to fail, we should fail 100 percent. Don’t fail halfway,” Mackie said with a laugh. “But it’s been fun, man. There’s so much stuff going on in the Marvel Universe since Disney has gotten involved, and we have a really supportive team. It’s Victoria [Alonso] and Louis [D’Esposito] and Kevin [Feige] and all the other guys over there—we always have people we can talk to if we feel like stuff isn’t going right. So it’s been great. We’ve definitely stumbled a few times, but we’re running full steam ahead to get these shows done.” unquote The Falcon and The Winter Soldier comes to Disney Plus this August.

Speaking of the Disney Plus family of Marvel shows. Moon Knight is still a ways away…and it looks like it might be much later. According to Geeks WorldWide dot com, the filming date for the series has been pushed back to mid november at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. The lead has also not been casted yet for the role of Marc Spector, apparently they’re looking for a Zac Efron type.

Checking in with the She Hulk Show. Mark Ruffalo has confirmed that he’s in preliminary talks to appear in the show, which makes sense since Jennifer gets her powers because of a blood transfusion with her cousin. Marvel hasn’t cast She Hulk Jennifer Walters yet, but they are looking for an Alison Brie type. I don’t know maybe just hire Alison Brie?

Whoops. I’m guessing Vin Diesel wasn’t supposed to talk about this, but the actor in an interview to promote the Bloodshot movie, said quote “I am waiting and excited for my friend James Gunn to knock this next one out of the park,” Diesel said during an interview in promotion of his upcoming Bloodshot movie. “He took The Suicide Squad so he’s about to embark on it. Thor will also, the director talked to me about Thor will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy.” “That’ll be very interesting, nobody knows, maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.” unquote Now, yes, the news isn’t too much of a surprise as Thor did leave Earth with the Guardians, the question becomes how much of the Guardians we will see as the story is supposed to surround Jane Fosters gaining the power of Thor. Thor Love and Thunder comes out on November fifth, 2021.

The latest issue of Production Weekly reports that Spider-man Three will shoot under the title Serenity Now. Which is apparently taken from the sitcom Seinfeld. Which is appropriate because Homecoming shot under the title Summer of George, while far from home shot under the title Fall of George. Co Producer Eric Hauserman Carroll has said that the pick code names that make them giggle. Production is set to get underway in July.

Tom Holland,on the press tour for Pixar’s Onward  has revealed to MT International that Sony had a contingency plan in case Sony and Marvel Studios did take Spiderman from the MCU quote “The future of Spider-Man was still very bright with Sony we had a really, really wonderful idea of how we could sort of transition into a Spider-Man without the MCU,” “Tom Rothman and Amy Pascal were really confident they were going to do justice and make a film that was the caliber that Spider-Man requires.” “But that said, I’m really glad to be back in the MCU and to have the team back together because I kind of feel that’s where he belongs now. I’m really grateful that Bob Iger and Tom Rothman allowed me to be a part of the process of bringing him home. It was a pretty cool experience and also the best bragging rights ever: I saved Spider-Man.” unquote Don’t give yourself a big head Tom. You won’t be able to fit in your Spider suit. Stay humble.

Black Panther was a huge success, not only was it a great movie, but it had a great soundtrack and a real chart topper thanks to the song Pray for Me by Kendrick Lamar and The Weekend. However, they’re in trouble now as TMZ reports that a lawsuit has been filed against Kendrick and The Weekend for an alleged eight count of illegal sampling in the track with quote intent to conceal the infringement”” unquote. The lawsuit was filed by Yeasayer which claims that the samples were taken from their 2007 song Sunrise. The band claims that Sunrise uses a distinctive choral performance that incorporate the bands own voices in a high falsetto. Yeasayer are asking for all the profits from Pray for me, Damages and an injunction blocking further sales and airplay of the song.

In a big announcement, Marvel Entertainment announced their creative team for a new comic series based on Tsuburaya Productions Ultraman.  Riters Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom will be co writers with Francesco Manna and Ed McGuinness on art. No launch date for the series has been given yet, but more info is due in the near future.

The Boys is coming back and it’s not the tv series, it’s the comic. It’s been eight years since the last issue and now Garth Ennis is teaming back with Russ Braun for The Boys: Dear Becky. CBR dot com asked Garth how getting back into the series has been. He said quote Terrific. I hadn’t quite realized what an appalling mood I was in about the state of the world until I began to write about it in this series, and of course, there’s no better character for me to write when I’m pissed off than Billy Butcher. He’s even better than Frank Castle, whose problem is that he doesn’t know how to enjoy life. Billy does. Unquote . By the way Garth has no involvement with the second season of the Amazon show except reading the scripts. The Boys: Dear Becky #1 from Dynamite Entertainment goes on Sale in April.

The Official Pokemon Youtube channel has released this years top ten Pokemon, according to Pokemon fans. This year’s top Pokemon went to Greninja, a water/dark type Pokemon that first appeared back in 2013 in Pokemon X and Y.

So, did you see the Sonic the Hedgehog movie? It looks like redoing the look of Sonic did the trick as it’s generally gotten good reviews. Now you might ask yourself, why was it just Sonic and Dr. robotnik? Why not say a character like Knuckles is a part of the movie? Comic book dot cm had an interview with director Jeff Fowler. He told them quote “For this first film, we really were just looking at the 1991 game and just see where it all started and just keep it simple,” “Just really try to nail Sonic and Robotnik and just set up their rivalry because you don’t … I mean, I love … There’s a lot of great characters in Sonic universe, but it’s the most important thing is just to get Sonic set up and just tell a little bit of an origin story with him, and just do it in a way that really makes everyone fall in love with him as a character and just be rooting for more. And then, if all that goes well, then we can kind of open it up and bring in some of these other characters that fans know and love. And yeah, I mean, no one’s more excited than me to have that opportunity.” unquote Which you gotta admit, it’s the right approach. Knuckles or Tails can always show up in the sequel.

With his allowance discontinued by Hargreeves, he takes to a place where his ghoulish talents will be appreciated––Hollywood. After a magical high on a vampire-drug-lord’s stash, Klaus needs help, and doesn’t have his siblings there to save him.” unquote In a statement Gerard Way said quote”For a long time, I had wanted to tell the story of Klaus Hargreeves’ life after the Umbrella Academy disbanded and before the events of Apocalypse Suite,” Way said in a statement. “I imagined a pretty wild decade for Klaus– full of ups and downs, seedy places, supernatural excursions, and internal battles within himself. I am thrilled to finally be able to tell this story with my co-writer Shaun Simon, who sees the world of the UA as clearly as I do. Also thrilled to work with such an amazing art and lettering team in I.N.J. Culbard and Nate Piekos.” unquote

Keywords: Star Trek , Star Wars, Picard, Liam Neeson, The Orville,Harrison Ford, The Mandalorian, Sasha Banks, Boba Fett, Kansas City Chiefs, Pete Buttigieg,  Evan Evagora, Michael Chabon,Jeri Ryan, Rick Moranis, The 100, Stargate, Indiana Jones, The Goonies, Chris Evans,

Tonight! Liam Neeson is done with Star Wars and Batman, we learn more about Picard’s hired assassin and Chris Evans wants to cause someone pain! All that and more on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to Episode 64 of Multiverse tonight.

So we’re at the halfway point on Star Trek Picard, what have you thought of it so far? I’ve enjoyed it so far but, last week’s episode was kinda dark. You had the deaths of a recurring Voyager character and a Next Gen guest star. I wonder when we run across Riker and Deanna Riker? I was kind of expecting that they’d show up during Jonathan Frakes run of directing episodes, but so far nothing. I’m also curious as to what will be the follow up show after this season is done. I’m hoping for Lower Decks. I think that would be a good palate cleanser, something lite and funny.

A little Orville news to report. Producer Tom Costantino showed an all new much larger orchestra recording a new arrangement of the theme song. I can’t wait to hear it.

Star Wars

Han Solo died in The Force Awakens only to reappear as a force ghost in The Rise of Skywalker, so I guess the question is why? Harrison Ford, talking with Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live. As to Han’s death he said quote “I figured that his utility had been exhausted, bled out, and was … well, I was willing to die for the cause. Bring some gravitas,” unquote. As far as Han’s appearance in the rise of Skywalker quote “No good deed goes unpunished.””J.J. said, ‘This is a good idea. I, J.J., have decided that this is a good idea and I would like you to do it,” unquote When Kimmel pushed if he trusted JJ Abrams Ford quipped quote “Don’t you?” unquote

By the way, don’t ask Harrison about details. When a reporter for USA Today asked if his return in The Rise of Skywalker was because he was a force ghost or just a figment of Ben Solo’s imagination the actor replied quote “A Force ghost? I don’t know what a Force ghost is,”

“Don’t tell anyone,” “I’m not talking loud enough for your recorder. I have no (expletive) idea what a Force ghost is. And I don’t care!” unquote. Keep in mind he only works in outer space…

The Mandalorian will have someone new to play with in season 2, According to the Mat Men Wrestling Podcast, WWE Superstar Sasha Banks will be appearing in the show.  Could she be in charge of something? After all her wrestling nickname is The Boss.

Disney Plus will soon be coming to the rest of the world, but even though The Mandalorian season one is all out in the US, doesn’t mean that everyone else won’t have to wait as well.

Disney Plus’ UK twitter account has released the news that , like the US release, each episode will be doled out one at a time. Disney Plus and The Mandalorian will debut in the UK on March twenty fourth.

Liam Neeson is out of the Star Wars and Batman phase of his career. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight the actor who has been QuiGon Jinn and Ra’s Al Ghul says he has no interest in returning to either. Quote “I’ll be honest with you, no. It’s not. I’m really not a huge fan of the genre. I think it’s Hollywood with all the bells and whistles and the technical achievements and stuff — which I admire — but I have no desire to go into the gym for three hours every day to pump myself up to squeeze into a Velcro suit with a cape,” “I admire the actors and I know some of the actors who do it — and do it fantastically. It’s just not my genre, it really isn’t. The first Star Wars, I was in that, that was 22 years ago, and I enjoyed that, because it was novel and that was new. I was acting to tennis balls, which were ultimately going to be little fuzzy furry creatures and stuff. That was interesting, acting-wise, to try and make that seem real, but that was the last. It’s quite exhausting.” unquote Kinda sounds like he just doesn’t wanna go back to the gym again.

The Fett Man is back. Boba Fett is back in Star Wars Bounty Hunters number one.  The new comic from Marvel Comics from writer Ethan sacks and artist Paolo Villanelli. Here’s the blurb quote NEVER BETRAY A BOUNTY HUNTER – ESPECIALLY IF IT’S BOBA FETT! Years ago, VALANCE and fellow bounty hunters BOSSK and BOBA FETT took on a mission that went sideways in a bad way after Valance’s mentor, NAKANO LASH, violently betrayed them. Valance’s team barely escaped with their lives. He never thought he’d face his old mentor ever again…until Lash finally resurfaces under mysterious circumstances. Every bounty hunter in the galaxy wants a piece and Valance is hell-bent on getting to the prize first. He has a score to settle—but so does Boba Fett!

ETHAN SACKS (OLD MAN HAWKEYE and GALAXY’S EDGE) and PAOLO VILLANELLI (VADER: DARK VISIONS and JEDI FALLEN ORDER – DARK TEMPLE) are teaming up to bring you the bounty hunter adventure you’ve been waiting for this March! Star Wars Bounty Hunters number one is due out March fourth.

So you love the Mandalorian and the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs, what do you do? Get a tattoo celebrating both of course. A fan decided to get inked following the win. The tattoo features Coach Andy Reid in the Mandalorian armor and MVP Patrick Mahomes as the Child. https://twitter.com/thecheckdown/status/1229842434172964864/photo/1

Me personally I’d never get a tatoo but to each thier own.

Star Trek

Democratic Presidential Candidate Pete Buttigieg is a confirmed trekkie. Speaking with Fox News the candidate spoke of his love of Star Trek Picard. “I finally figured out how to do the app so that I can watch Star Trek: Picard,” Buttigieg revealed on Fox News. “I’m a huge Star Trek fan so I’m really excited to see where it goes. I grew up on The Next Generation. I was all about that.” https://twitter.com/i/status/1230120511348322307

And I’m all about free and fair elections. So get out there and vote!

The newest recruit on Star Trek Picard’s mission is the Romulan sword fighter Elnor played by Evan Evagora. The Australian actor, who is also in the new Fantasy Island movie, spoke with comic book dot com about finding Elnor’s character and his relationship with Jean-Luc Picard. On how much he had to train to be good with those swords he said quote I have no background in sword fight training whatsoever. I do have a very heavy boxing background, which can be used during fight scenes and stuff. It was pretty much the day I landed in LA, I got a phone call asking me if I could come down to the studio. So I came down to the studio. I met the stunt team. I met my amazing stunt double. Anytime you see Elnor running along walls, or running up and then flipping off stuff, that’s him. He can just do it way better than I can, and he makes me look amazing.

In terms of the sword fighting, I went to the studio and I was given my prop sword, and we began going through sword fighting sequences and scenes from the show to start practicing. So the majority of the stuff that you see, I’m doing, in terms of fighting and swordplay. Unquote  On if he considers Elnor to be an outsider type character like Spock or Data, he told them quote Yeah, I’d say he does. Every version of Star Trek has that character who’s trying to understand the world and is looking at everything with a fresh face. And I think Elnor continues that. Unquote

As to what will be coming up for Elnor in the rest of the season, Evan was evasive, but he did tell them quote I don’t really want to give much away, but I will say there’s some nice moments between Seven of Nine and Elnor. I don’t really want to give too much away, because it would just spoil the story, and there’s some really great moments. But that really sticks out in my memory. I have some really good scenes with Michelle Hurd, as well as Patrick. Really it’s been a great ensemble cast, and I think we all work well off of each other. And I think you’ll see how all of our stories interconnect and intertwine, and how we each deal with the similar trauma we’ve experienced, but how it’s affected each one differently. Unquote

Picard showrunner Michael Chabon is busy answering fans’ questions. One response he had was to why all the swearing? His answer quote “Listen. No human society will be perfect, because no human will ever be perfect,” Chabon says. “The most we can do — and as Star Trek ever reminds us, must do — is aspire to perfection, and work to make it so. Norkon forden perfectunun, as a wise Yang once said. Until that impossible day, s–t is going to continue to happen. And when it does, humans are going to want to swear.

“The absence of swear words in Star Trek was never a matter of Federation principle, it was a matter of FCC rules. Writers of previous eras had no choice. They were censored. Searing is one of humanity’s most ancient, sensible, and reliable consolations. Personally I would consider any society that discouraged, banned or abandoned the use of curse words to be a f—ing dystopia.” unquote  In other words, the swear words were always there, they just couldn’t get passed the censors. I think it’s okay, but they should make a censored version for family viewing.

And what’s up what Commodore Oh and the sunglasses, when a true Vulcan have second eyelids that would handle the bright sun?  His response was that he’s well aware that a Vulcan wouldn’t need sunglasses and suggested that its a hint. What does this accoutrement tell us about Commodore Oh. HINT HINT. Let’s just put it this way, if something seems off, maybe you should log that away for later in the story.

Is Rebecca Romijn’s Number One coming back for an encore? The actress in a recent interview where she was launching her own line of jewelry spoke to fashion site The Daily Front Row. Told them quote “I’ve also been working on Star Trek here and there, but I can’t really talk about that,” unquote She can’t talk about it? Isn’t all her Star Trek stuff out? Or is there something that hasn’t been released. Are we making too much about her choice of words?  Probably. If anything does develop, I’ll let you know.

Jeri Ryan’s seven of nine finally appeared in the fourth episode of Picard. However it wasn’t easy for Jeri to find Seven’s voice again. The Hollywood reporter spoke with the actress before the season began. When asked about what the biggest change she had experienced with the new show she said quote “The scale of the show. The scale of these sets, the costumes, it’s crazy. It’s like you’re doing a feature film every week.unquote She was also surprised by the technical set design quote

“In one of my scenes, where I had to go in and work a console, we go in for the first rehearsal and I had to touch buttons and the screen actually does something! And I totally flipped out, like: ‘Oh my god, actually having buttons that work!” unquote

She also talked about her first day working with Sir Patrick Stewart on the set quote “My first scene, the big scene, was the one you see in the trailer, when we’re in his office/ready room. That was my first day on set. It was daunting — not just because it was Patrick — but because I was still petrified — or ‘Patrick-fied’ — of if I could find the character again. I was still trying to figure out who she was.” unquote. However she did have backup in finding her character thanks to Jonathan Frakes quote “I was so fortunate because Jonathan Frakes was directing my first episode. So with that, I knew I was in good hands. [Frakes], more than anyone else, would get the importance of revisiting and being true to these characters. Because the challenge for me is: Where has she been for nearly 20 years? Finding her voice was the hardest thing for me; when I read the first script — I just couldn’t hear her voice anywhere.”

Ryan went on to recall that it took her the first couple of takes before she felt like she “found Seven,” but once she did, “Frakes just sort of walked in and said ‘there she is.’” unquote

Her return was excellent and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season. This is good.

Well here’s a pleasant surprise. Rick Moranis is returning to acting after a 23 year hiatus to raise his children after the death of his wife. He will be back in a new sequel to Honey I shrunk the kids titled Shrunk. The new movie will star Josh Gad as Rick Moranis son Wayne Szalinkski and be directed by Joe Johnston who also directed the original movie back in 1989. Rick has not appeared in a live action film since 1994’s Little Giants.

The prequel series to The CW’s The 100 has started casting. According to Deadline, Iola Evans from Amazon’s Carnival Row, Adain Bradley from the CW’s Riverdale and Leo Howard of Why Women Kill have been cast in a backdoor pilot for the yet to be titled prequel. The backdoor pilot episode will air sometime during the seventh and final season of the show.

The Stargate franchise has been quiet since 2011. MGM tried to gauge interest in a new series a couple of years ago with a prequel webseries, but it apparently didn’t do enough to convince the studio to go ahead with anything new.. Comic Book dot com checked in with creator Roland Emmerich to see where things are with anything new. Emmerich said quote”Yeah, I kind of talked a little bit with MGM about Stargate,” Emmerich said in an interview. “But I think this is going nowhere because there was another TV show, and they kind of realized that if it’s like some sort of a mixed bag.” unquote   It seems to me that if Stargate fans want to see a new series, they’d better show up or it’ll be a long time before anything new is seen.

The fifth Indiana Jones movie will start filming in just a few months according to Harrison Ford. The actor, in an interview with Ellen said that it would start sometime this summer or late summer. Seemingly implying that it would be around July or August. The movie was originally scheduled to be out this May but has been pushed back all the way to July tenth of next year. Let’s just hope it’s better than the Crystal Skull.

Goonies never say die. Well it looks like Fox Television has begun development on a sorn of Goonies reboot. The show is about a troubled teacher who attempts to make a shot for shot remake of the cult film with three students. Here’s the description quote “After failing to make it in New York and carrying a heavy secret with her, Stella Cooper returns to her distressed automotive hometown to substitute teach. She finds inspiration, hope and ultimately salvation when she agrees to help three students who are pursuing their filmmaking dreams by putting on an impossibly ambitious shot-for-shot remake of one of their favorite movies — The Goonies. Over the course of the season of the potential series, their passion will inspire a town in desperate need of hope in this love letter to the power of cinema, storytelling and dreams.” unquote Don’t hold your breath though, This project is untitled and just in the project stage.

HBO’s  sci fi comedy Avenue 5 has been renewed for season two. The show starring Josh Gad and Hugh Laurie trapped on a space liner with horrible people seems to have gotten over with a lot of people. I’ve been enjoying it.

The Hollywood reporter has broken the news that Chris evans is currently in negotiatons to play dentist Orin Scrivello in Greg Berlanti’s reboot of Little Shop of Horors. Warner Bros is making the movie and other possible actors up for roles include Scarlett Johansson and taron Egerton. No possible release date is known.

This story is both sad and a little strange,  Veteran stuntwoman Cheryl Sanders who has performed in Back to the Future Part II, VI Warshawski, The Thomas Crown Affair and the Lethal Weapon series was killed in a shootout outside a million dollar home in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Fox 6 News in Ohio reports that Cheryl Sande and her husband were shot and killed after they allegedly threatened her ex husband Robert Duncan and his wife in their driveway.Officers responded to the shooting on February thirteenth in Miami Township Ohio and found the couple dead outside her ex’s house. Sanders and her husband don’t live in Ohio, they live in North Carolina according to the county attorney.

Sanders ex told the police that Cheryl pulled up in a car, got out and went towards Duncan’s wife Molly. According to Sheriff Gene Fisher, Cheryl Sanders was quote “threatening to kill the guy’s wife and (Robert Duncan) fired upon that person,” Both Robert and Cheryl Sanders died from multiple gunshots. Apparently this was not the first time Cherl Sanders had attempted this. Apparently this had been a long planned murder attempt as there was a survailance camera  put on the the house that broadcast to a cellphone found in the couples car and Robert Sanders had multiple form of id on him.

The investigation is still continuing.

Greetings and welcome to episode 65 of Multiverse Tonight! Well. What do you know. I know one thing. Rumors are just that rumors. I’ve been seeing rumors online that Dan Didio’s exit from DC Comics is some sort of precurreser to AT&T selling off DC Comics or stopping production of comics, ecetera. You need to look at this with a critical eye. One. no reliable sources. The site that has this story doesn’t name where this info is coming from. 2. No cooberation. No other site is reporting this news. If something like that was happening other news sites and more repetable sites would have the story. In other words, don’t believe it until it happens or it gets better coverage.

Patty Jenkins thinks of Steve Trevor like an Indiana Jones type of character in Wonder Woman 1984.quote  “He’s not beta at all. He’s a super alpha who can absolutely wear his discomfort on his sleeve,”. “So, from day one, I was always saying that it should almost be like Wonder Woman meets Indiana Jones, where Indiana would never be emasculated. Chris just very naturally has that quality. You can tell by meeting him that he’s warm and he’s chill and he truly appreciates women.”  unquote

So what does Pine think of his character’s journey in the movie Speaking with Entertainment Weekly he said quote “In the first movie, I played the world-weary soldier who has seen all the depravity that humankind is capable of displaying,” “And in this one I get to be much more wide-eyed and joyful. My role is really just as a friend, lover, boyfriend-cum-bodyguard who’s trying his best to help Diana on her mission. I’m like the Watson to her Holmes.” unquote

Entertainment Weekly also spoke with Kristen Wiig about her transformation into the role of Cheetah quote “I did not really know so much about Cheetah,” “Before I even talked to Patty [Jenkins], there was an idea that maybe it might be about being a villain for the movie, so I went online and looked at all the villains of Wonder Woman to try to figure out which one, because I was so excited. And I was really, really happy to find out it was her.” “I’ve never really played someone who walks into the room and owns it — especially when she starts out so insecure and self-deprecating,” Wiig said. “We didn’t want to see Barbara in Cheetah, and I didn’t want to see Kristen in Cheetah, either.” unquote Wonder Woman 1984 opens on June fifth.

Birds of Prey had a disappointing first weekend, so what did Warner Bros do? Retitled the film, Worked for Edge of Tomorrow didn’t it.? Birds of Prey And the Emancipation of One Harley Quinn is now Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. not a bad idea. Speaking to the Verge, a representative for the studio said that the title change was to help search expansion for ticket sites. Which sounds a lot like people weren’t searching for Birds of Prey, they were searching for Harley Quinn. I wonder if you call a movie Birds of Prey, maybe push the Birds of Prey and not Harley Quinn? I mean if Harley is the entire plot of the movie, call it Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey.

The good news is the film has made back it’s money. Let’s see how it did in the box office report

BOX OFFICE REPORT

DC Universe’s Doom Patrol will be getting a little larger next season. Actress Abigail Shapiro is joining up as The Chief Niles Caulder’s daughter Dorthy and NCIS New Orleans’ Karen Obilom is coming as Roni Evers, a military vet with a mysterious past who meets Cyborg Vic Stone in a PTSD support group.

Longtime Co-Publisher of DC Comics Dan DiDio is out at DC Comics.  Dan is best known for Infinite Crisis, The new 52, DC Rebirth and Doomsday Clock. Dan has been co-publisher for the past10 years. This seems to leave Co-Publisher Jim Lee in the driverseat as sole publisher and Chief Creative Officer. DiDio’s exit comes just prior to an announced new relaunch that would further dismantle  parts of the 2011 reboot. It is unclear at this time if that relaunch will be delayed or canceled.

The Supergirl comic will end with issue number forty two in May. The issue will be written by Jody Houser with art by Rachel Stott and will pit Supergirl against the US Military. There are currently no plans for a new series.

Some early images of Robert Pattinson’s Batsuit have come out, but meanwhile those faithful who still want the Snyder cut have launched a renewed campaign for the Holy Grail of the Snyder Cut of Justice League. The social media profiles for WarnerMedia owned companies are getting comment bombed. For example, the HBO Max instagram page has hundreds if not thousands of demands that HBO Max stream the cut of the movie.  By the way, there is still no verification if such a cut ACTUALLY exists. So they might just be yelling into the void.

Lucifer’s fifth season has been scheduled as it’s last but could it get a sixth? According to TVLine dot com, Netflix is currently in talks with Warner Bros Television to make a new final season. Season five is currently in its final weeks of production on it’s final sixteen episodes. Neither Netflix nor Warner Bros has acknowledged or denied the report.

Marvel

Avengers Endgame not winning an Oscar was kind of a disappointment. Well it’s not winning that makes history or infamy take your pick. Avengers Endgames shut out at the Oscars marks the first time that a film has become the highest grossing movie of all time but didn’t win an oscar. Endgame made nearly 2.8 billion dollars worldwide .

The United Kingdom has some new heroes. Marvel is introducing a brand new team called The Union in the Empyre crossover event with the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. The tagline for the event is quote Thanos is dead-so who is the biggest power in the Universe? Unquote  The Union is written by Paul Grist and has art by Andrea Di Vito and cis out now.

Michael Pena is unsure about  the fate of his Marvel Antman sidekick character Luis. The Hollywood reporter talked with Pena on the press junket for his new movie Fantasy Island and they asked if he ever found out, he said quote “I have no idea. Ant-Man 3 is not going to be shot for another year or so. After my involvement in the first two Ant-Man movies, we really won’t even know what’s going to happen until one to two months before we film,” explained Peña. “I have no idea what’s happening to be honest. Right now, Marvel is in a really cool position where they can break hearts by who they bring back and who they don’t. But, I’m still interested even though I have no idea what’s gonna happen, and I can’t wait to find out.” unquote However he is hopeful that he will be returning to the MCU Speaking with coming soon dot com he said quote  “For the last one, I didn’t really know what capacity I was going to come back in or if I was going to come back,” Peña previously said to ComingSoon. “I think they’re a year away from filming, I think it would be great if I could do a third one. But you never know, especially with all the stuff that happened in Endgame. Right now, Marvel’s in a situation where they can crush some expectations, they’re gonna have to crush some expectations of other characters, not just mine, so hopefully I make the cut.” unquote

Well I think it would be tragic to do a third ant man film and not have the series hype man. He’s one of a kind.

So last summer, the big story was the Spider-man fight followed by the ambassadorial effort of  Spider-man tom Holland that resulted in a peace treaty between Sony and Disney. Now Disney CEO Bob Iger thinks Tom Holland owes him a little something cool and refreshing. Mister Iger wrote on Twitter quote “Last night’s premiere of @Pixar latest film, #Onward, gave me a chance to see @MarvelStudios friends–#ChrisPratt and #TomHolland! Tom owes me a “pint” for saving @SpiderMan!”

Unquote Actually that’s not a bad idea. Maybe they should invite Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra and make it a beer summit, maybe iron some more of these Marvel rights out. Make it a huge shared universe? Whata say?

So have you ever watched the Marvel movies and that quick succession of comic book pages and wondered about the kissing couple that can be seen around the 6 second mark in the sequence? Well a fan on Quora has figured out who they are. Deverick Jenkins has figured out that they are Angelica Jones aka Firestar and Vance Astrovik aka Justice. You know what’s interesting about those two, They are mutants. Technically making them the first Mutants in a Marvel Studios film. Kinda neat. Now if Marvel Studios would just get down to using those mutants…

According to a new report from Illuminerdi, Sony is interested in Michelle MacLaren to direct the Spider-man movie. MacLaren is best known for working on shows like Game of Thrones, Better call Saul and Breaking Bad and if chosen this would be her first feature film. The same report also says that they are looking into Alicia Vikander for the lead role of Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman. When more is announced, I’ll let you know.

Well Avengers Endgame might have not gotten an Oscars, but they’re bound to get a blimp from the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. Endgame walked out with eleven nominations. Also up for awards are A Series of unfortunate Events, Power ranger Beast Morphers, Stranger Things, The Flash, The Simpsons, Captain Marvel, Spider-man Far From HOme, Star Wars the Rise of SkywalkerFrozen 2, the Lego Movie 2, The Lion King, Secret Life of Pets 2, Toy Story 4 and many many more. The awards will be slimed out on March 22nd on Nickelodeon.

No released date for Masters of the Universe Revelation won’t air until 2021.

If the report from DisInsider is true, Disney is working on another live action version of another animated movie. This time it will be Rupunzel, which was animated in the Tangled movie a decade ago. Michael De Luca and Kristen Burr are reportedly executive producing it with Zoe Kent, Jessica Virtue and Lucy Kitada. No director has been announced.

According to Variety, Disney is working on a sequel to it’s live action Aladdin movie. The sequel is expected to be a theatrical release like the first one and will be a completely new idea and not based on the direct to video animated sequels The return of Jafar and Aladdin and the king of thieves. Right now it’s unclear if Guy Ritchie will return to direct but the films starts are all expected to return, but nothing is in place yet.  Comic book dot com can confirm that John Gatis and Andre Berloff will be writing the script.

Todd McFarlane has announced a Kickstarter campaign at the 2020 Toy Fair. This Kickstarter will recreate the original line of Spawn toys that were made with the Todd toys logo, all released with classic packaging but with the modern sensibilities and techniques that mcFarlane toys have become known for. Todd McFarlane said quote I’m going to start with him (points to original Spawn) and hopefully we’ll end up getting to all six of these, but we’re going to take that original Spawn and we’re going to do it and put it into a retro packaging, but we’re going to use a modern-day sculpt of it.” The Kickstarter isn’t live yet, but will be under the Masterworks category on Kickstarter. I like a good Kickstarter, I give to the Rifftrax kickstarter every year.

Blurbs have been released for the new Simon & Schuster Star Trek novels. First off in June is Dayton Ward’s Agents of Influence, an Original Series novel. Here’ the blurb quote For years, Starfleet Intelligence agents have carried out undercover assignments deep within the Klingon Empire. Surgically altered and rigorously trained in Klingon culture, they operate in plain sight and without any direct support, while collecting information and infiltrating the highest levels of imperial power. Their actions have given Starfleet valuable insight into the inner workings of the Klingon government and its relentless military apparatus.

After three of Starfleet’s longest serving agents fear exposure, they initiate emergency extraction procedures. Their planned rendezvous with the USS Endeavour goes awry, threatening to reveal their activities and the damaging intelligence they’ve collected during their mission. Tasked by Starfleet to salvage the botched rescue attempt, Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise must discover the truth behind a secret weapons experiment while avoiding an interstellar incident with the potential to ignite a new war between the Federation and one of its oldest adversaries. Unquote

Next up is John Jackson Miller’s Discovery novel Die Standing coming out in July quoteNo one in the history of histories has lost more than Philippa Georgiou, ruler of the Terran Empire. Forced to take refuge in the Federation’s universe, she bides her time until Section 31, a rogue spy force within Starfleet, offers her a chance to work as their agent. She has no intention of serving under anyone else, of course; her only interest is escape.

But when a young Trill, Emony Dax, discovers a powerful interstellar menace, Georgiou recognizes it as a superweapon that escaped her grasp in her own universe. Escorted by a team sent by an untrusting Federation to watch over her, the emperor journeys to a region forbidden to travelers. But will what she finds there end the threat—or give “Agent Georgiou” the means to create her old empire anew? Unquote

August brings us a new Kelvin Timeline book, More Beautiful Than Death from David Mack quote Captain James T. Kirk and the Enterprise crew escort Spock’s father, Ambassador Sarek of Vulcan, to a dilithium-rich planet called Akiron. They arrive to find this world under siege by creatures that some of the planet’s denizens believe are demons. Sarek orders Kirk to abandon the mission, but the young captain won’t turn his back on people in danger. After a harrowing encounter with the dark-energy “demons,” Kirk’s belief in a rational universe is challenged by a mystic who insists that it wasn’t coincidence that brought Kirk to Akiron, but the alien equivalent of a Karmic debt.

Meanwhile, aboard the Enterprise, Sarek’s young Vulcan aide L’Nel has a sinister agenda—and its chief objective appears to be the cold-blooded murder of Spock! Unquote

In October, we have Kirsten Beyer’s next Voyager novel, To Lose the Earth, this book has been delayed because of her other work on Discovery and Picard, here’s the blurb quote As the crew of the Full Circle fleet works to determine the fate of their lost ship, the Galen, a struggle for survival begins at the far edge of the galaxy. New revelations about Species 001, the race that built the biodomes that first drew the fleet to investigate planet DK-1116, force Admiral Kathryn Janeway to risk everything to learn the truth.unquote

Well happy reading or in my case listening, I don’t have much time to actually read.

We close out Star trek news with the passing of actress Marj Dusay at the age of 83. She would be best known to Star Trek fans for her guest appearance on the Spock’s Brain episode in the third season.

She won five Daytime emmys for her soap opera work. She was twice married and  had a son and a daughter.

She passed away from natural causes in her Manhattan home.

Kahless has returned to Sto-Vo-Kor. Actor Kevin Conway, the actor who played the returned Kahless in the Next Generation episode Birthright has passed away from a heart attack.  Kevin was a vetern actor who started acting at the age of twenty four. His first major role was as Roland Weary in 1972’s film adaptation of Slaughterhouse five, he would go on to play such memorable movie roles as Crum Petree the crazy mailman from the Chevy Chase movie Funny Farm, Frank Papale in Disney’s Invincible and Sgt. Buster Kilrain in Gettysburg and the sequel Gods and Generals. Star wars

Star Wars actor Jake Lloyd has had many struggles with mental health. The actor best known for his role Anakin Skywalker i nThe Phantom Menace. And has had many struggles including run in with the law and the unexpected passing of his younger sister a couple of years ago.

In a statement with Geek News Now, Jake’s mother talked about her son’s present state quote “We would like to thank everyone for their kind words, their support, and goodwill,” the statement reads. “Jake has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, but unfortunately he also has a symptom called anosognosia which causes a lack of insight into his illness. This only adds to the struggle he faces, which has been very difficult after the tragic loss of his younger sister, Madison. He has moved closer to his family and we are all working hard to help him with this. He is still a kind and caring person and we hope to have him back to his fun and entertaining self as soon as possible. Jake will continue to make progress with the love and support you continue to show.” unquote  My heart goes out to him. I wish him peace and long life.

The Mandalorian second season comes to Disney Plus this October. In the First quarter earnings call CEO Bob Iger , The show has been very successful for Disney with 65 percent of viewers of the show going on to try at least ten other offerings on the streamer.

Mark Hamill got a surprise last month. An Arizona bookstore tweeted the actor saying that it had found his original copy of the Star Wars soundtrack and wanted to send it back to him.. How did they know it was his, the record sleeve was personally inscribed by John Williams to Mark. In an interview with the New York Times on Monday Mark said quote I wasn’t completely sure that it was mine,“”But I know that I’d had an album signed by John. How would they know that?” Mark didn’t even know that it was missing and had assumed it was still in the basement of his California home with the rest of his record collection.  How it got to Bookmans Entertainment Exchange in Flagstaff, Arizona, who can say. All the store knows is that it showed up in a collection a lady brought in from her deceased father’s collection. The record had even been temporarily [but on sale before it was taken down, it was posted on twitter soon there after where Mr. Hamill saw it. Within days, it was in the mail back to it’s Jedi owner.Mark said quote “This is so above and beyond, considering they could’ve sold it.” Unquote Mark made his grattitude clear encouraging his twitter fans to visit the store and he signed some memorabilia for the store incudingg a Star wars DVD and a replica of the medal given to Luke and Han at the end of A New Hope.

The Star Wars A Galaxy Far far Away Show at Disney’s hollywood studios is closing. The show , which featured classic moments from the Skywalker Saga brought to live on stage will be closing soon, however there apparently is no set end date. However there are rumors that the show will close a week after the scheduled opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway on March fourth I’m guessing it’s no longer needed with Galaxy’s Edge.

Taika Waititi is downplaying the rumors that he was offered a Star wars film. When asked about it by entertainment weekly, the Oscar award winning director slash actor said quote “Listen, what does ‘approached’ even mean?” “I’ve seen Star Wars, that’s about as far as it got.” Pushed on the subject further he said quote  “Look, I’m not an idiot,” “Who would actually say no to Star Wars? Of course, I didn’t send that idea very seriously, it’s more that in light of all the things that were happening over the last couple of months, it would make me a little nervous.” unquote. So it sounds like no, but he wouldn’t say no. So come on, Lucasfilm. Balls in your court, unless this is all a big lie? But let’s just deal with facts and not rumours.

Some more sad news to report actor Alan Harris has passed away after a battle with lung cancer. His career mostly was as an extra or stand in. But he is known to Star Wars fans as the bounty hunter Bossk in the Empire Strikes Back, he was also a security guard on Bespin. Over his career he showed up in the Living Daylights, Doctor Who, Top Secret!, Return of the Jedi, . Flash Gordon, The Shining, Superman: The Movie, Return of the Jedi and The Avengers among others usually uncredited. He was 81 years old.

Lethal Weapon 5 is now in development. According to It Chapter Two producer Dan Lin it will be the last one. The story itself is very personal to him. Mel [Gibson] and Danny [Glover] are ready to go, so it’s about the script.”

Actor Orson Bean has passed away after being hit by two cars while walking in the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles. Orson, who was originally born Dallas Frederick Burrows in 1928 began acting in 1952 on the Goodyear Television Playhouse. Episode 63: Parasite sucks The Joker’s Oscars away

Tonight! Owen Wilson might be coming to an MCU show near you, Wonder Woman has a new weapon and who won the Oscars much more on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Greetings and welcome to the comics edition of Multiverse Tonight.  Episode 62.

So did you watch the Oscars this past Sunday. It was…okay. There were a few surprises  like Eminem , the fact that Joker didn’t sweep the awards and John Williams not winning. Really thought that Mister Williams should have won. Anyway, if you missed it apparently you’re not alone, the Oscars Viewership sank to a new low this year. And I’ve noticed a lot of the usual complaints. Lack of diversity in the acting categories. Too much politics. Which is surprising because there weren’t a lot of big moments of politics, a few speeches, maybe not as much as a few years ago. Too long? Eh. It was about three and a half hours. Pretty typical. I could shorten it by not having the best songs all performed during the course of the evening, but having them shown in clips or maybe a medley of some kind?  Maybe no confusing performances by Eminem? I’ve also seen some complaints about how so and so was missing from the In Memoriam section. Folks, they only have so much time to do that and a lot of people can die in the course of the year and it’s not just actors, it’s all members of the Motion Picture Association of America. Plus, some of these people will be remembered at other award shows. Just as long as YOU remember them, that’s the important part.

Marvel

Rick And Morty are known to exist in multitudes of universes on the show, but did you know they exist in other franchises universes? Or rather the show does,  In Marvel’s Marauders number six, Rick and Morty gets a mention when Yellowjacket mentions that Pyro has quote made himself a couple of Long Island iced teas and now he’s in the yacht’s movie theater watching Rick and Morty.” unquote  Well that makes me wonder, Oni Press currently makes the Rick and Morty comics, perhaps Marvel and Oni can come together for a Marvel/Rick & morty crossover? Anyone wanna start a tweet hashtag for that?

Marvel Comics will have a new wanna be Captain America character in its upcoming Falcon & Winter Soldier miniseries.  The Natural is described as a Captain America superfan vigilante who will pose a threat to the duo. Falcon and Winter Soldier writer Derek Landy told comic book dot com quote “In combat, no matter how good you are, there will always be someone better than you,””Someone who’s stronger, or quicker, or who’s trained that little bit more. Even someone who’s luckier. That’s where the Natural came from — that fear in a fighter’s mind that, maybe, their next opponent will be the one to outclass them.” Artist Federico Vicentini added quote “He wants to be Captain America, his idol, his hero, but he does that from the wrong side of the barricade, unaware of his mistakes,” “Bucky and Sam will have to do their best to show him what it really means to be Captain America. For his costume I tried to keep some details from Cap’s old one (the boots, for example), but I also added something new, like the black logo on his chest and mask, to point out the dark traits of his behavior.” Unquote

Falcon and winter Soldier number one comes out on February 26.

Actor Owen Wilson is in talks to join Disney Plus’ Loki series according to sources close to the Hollywood reporter. What character he possibly could be playing is unknown. Rick and Morty writer Michael Waldron is writing the plot for the show and will be acting as show creator and executive producer.

While we don’t have a release window for the series yet, The Falcon and The WinterSoldier will be coming in August and WandaVision will debut in December.

Fast 9 star  Tyrese Gibson gave an update on his character in Sony’s Morbius and how the film is progressing. Tyrese will be playing Agent Shroud. He told Comic book dot com at the F9 event in Miami quote “I play a character named Agent Shroud, Agent Simon Shroud, opposite Jared Leto. It’s the Spider-Man spinoff, Morbius, Venom, Marvel. I’m just excited to be a part of this franchise. I love the Fast & the Furious but I’ve been wanting to be a part of another franchise. Because, the last time I was in a franchise was Transformers, which is not too shabby.” unquote

Fast and Furious, Transformers. Well he does have a knack for being in successful franchises. Could Tyrese rub off on the extended Spider-man franchise?

Sooner or later the X-Men movie franchise will get rebooted, so what advice would former Cyclops actor James Marsden give to the next man who fills the role, Collider, talking with Marsden while he’s promoting Sonic The Hedgehog gave some quote The biggest challenge was that, the audience and other actors never being able to see your eyes. Definitely was a handicap in bringing a persona to the character, and an energy to the character. To a character who is also very, by nature, very by-the-books. Kind of a Boy Scout, ‘do the right thing.’ He’s a foil to Wolverine’s character, who is more fly by the seat of his pants, a little more unpredictable, and aggressive.

I would just say lean into it. Own it. And carve out your own thing. The fans of the books are going to tell you ‘it needs to be this’. Find a new way to make it interesting. Because it is tough to like get something interesting and cool and different across when no one ever sees your eyes. Which is obviously, you know, the main part of the character.” unquote

DC

Well Arrow is officially done. However it kind of looks like a lot of people said goodbye earlier than others. The Ratings for the final episode are out. 723,000 tuned in to the episode, which was an almost 20 percent drop from the week before. It also wasn’t helped by the fact that it wa moved back an hour for an arrow special. Plus, who watches tv shows when they’re actually on anyway, that’s so twentieth century.

The Batman has begun principal photography and we now know what role actres Jayme Lawson is playing in the movie. Business Wire lists her as Candida Bella real. Since there is no character in known batman lore by that name, she is either a new character that plays some role in the film or that character’s name is false and she is actually playing another role. Some suggestions have been Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl.  So I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this pans out.

We are also learning that Peter Skarsgaurd will be playing the role of Gotham City District Attorney Gil Colson, which is…you guessed it. Another name that has no known usage in the DCU. Could it be a new character or a different character, who knows.  NEXT.

On comics news, Scott Snyder has given Wonder Woman a new weapon. The writer posted on his twitter  a link to a Newsarama article showing Wonder Woman wielding a chainsaw-like device. Scott added quote It’s called the chainsaw of truth quote The weapon will show up in the sequel to Dark Knight Metal. Not much is known about the new series only that quote “the mayhem is imminent.” unquote

In John Constantine: Hellblazer number four, John Constantine gets introduced to Tommy Willowtree a street mage who’s been guarding Endland from mystickal threats since Constantine’s been away causing a new era of peace in London using white magic. Tonny is quote “a gentleman, a scholar, a clean-living, vegan acolyte of love.” unquote In other words every thind Constantine isn’t and that’s something that John can’t stand. Unfortunately, Constantine is gonna have to suck it up and team with him.

John Constantine Hellblazer number four will have new artist Matias Bergara taking over for Aaron Campbell joining writer Simon Spurrier and colorist Jordie Bellaire. It’s coming to comic stores on February twenty sixth.

Writer artist Any reeder will be bringing a new character to the DC Universe in her upcoming Amethyst series. In an interview with CBR.com She said quote “I can’t wait for everyone to meet Phoss. Creating new characters is always on my radar; it’s fun and necessary to keep things fresh. I got a chance to do this at Marvel with Moon Girl, and I’m so glad she took off the way she did. For the sake of this miniseries Phoss is tied to Gemworld only, but I would love if she really takes off into the general DCU. Is it strange that I haven’t thought about that yet?””Phoss is the first new teen friend Amy makes, a commoner from Turquoise, the warrior realm,” “She’s maybe a little too easy going, and too honest, but she’s a great foil to Princess Amethyst and keeps her grounded. Oh and no biggie, but Phoss is a lesbian animal lover with four forearms and she rides a giant caterpillar named Stan. WHATEVER. Anyway, the strength of friendship is a major element to the story, so you’ll see a lot of Phoss and that other upcoming character, Maxixe.

Amethyst is not a new character, she was created by Dan Mishkin, Gary Cohn and Earnie Colon of 1983’s Legion of SuperHeroes issue 298. Where the character otherwise known as Amy Winston discovered that she was a princess of the House of Amethyst on Gemworld. Here’s the plot quote Following her triumphant reintroduction in the pages of Young Justice, the new Amethyst miniseries follows teenager Amy Winston—a.k.a. Princess Amethyst—as she returns to her magical kingdom to celebrate her 16th birthday in style. The only problem? Her kingdom is missing, her subjects have vanished, and none in the realm of Gemworld—even her best friend, Lady Turquoise—remain loyal to her house! Alone and dejected, Amy’s forced to find new allies and confront dark secrets on an all-new quest to the farthest reaches of Gemworld. Unquote

Amethyst #1 releases Feb. 26.

Comic writer Steve Orlando is stepping out. The writer who has been working for DC Comics for the past four years is moving away from the Distinguished Competition. To a number of other publishers. To mark the end of his contract he had an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.

It’s a good interview. When asked why he signed exclusively with DC he said quote

I mean, look, I grew up as a DC guy. I was, you know, knocked over when they offered me that contract after Midnighter. And of course it’s nice to have that reliability and a home for most of your work. But I mean, you know, young Steve, who is reading DC books out of flea markets in the 1980s and early ’90s, you know, it’s a dream job. And by the way, working for DC’s still a dream job.

You know, when you’re an adult, you realize that dreams have to evolve and change. So at the time, you know, there was no way that I would stay away from that, because it’s like playing for the Yankees. (Laughs) So of course I would take it. And it’s still a company that I have, and characters that I continue to have, great affection for.

I’m excited to continue on Wonder Woman for that reason. These are icons, and to be asked to become a lasting part of those things, you know, it’s an honor, it’s a huge responsibility, and there’s just no way I wouldn’t do that. Unquote

In other words, he’s not leaving DC completely, he’s just going to be a free agent.

He also announced that he will be working with TKO, Studio Arancia and for his prose work with Fuse Literary.

Birds of Prey is flying in a little lower than expected in its opening weekend. The movie only debuted to a Friday box office of 33 to 35 million. Warner bros had been aiming for a 45 to 50 million dollar opening. There could be several factors for this including its r rating causing the younger kids from seeing the movie, it’s february opening date or something else. However, it’s ratings and reviews can’t be blamed as it’s gotten largely positive.

BOX OFFICE REPORT

Geek

Could a new Green Hornet movie be in the offing?  The Green Hornet movie rights have been acquired by Amasia Entertainment a company run by former Marvel Studios President Michael Helfant and Bradley Gallo. In a statement Helfant said quote “This is one of the only stand-alone classic superhero franchises,” “We’re a bunch of fan geeks at Amasia and are thrilled about creating something fresh and truly worthy of this legacy property. A new world that is relevant and thrilling, while respecting and honoring the original vision.”“When I was a kid, The Green Hornet was one of my favorite television series,” he added. “I loved everything about it: the Green Hornet, Kato, and of course, the Black Beauty. They were the coolest! It was personally painful to leave them all behind when I left Dimension. So I tried to option the property again at Marvel before it went over to Sony, and then again in 2017 before the rights landed at Paramount.” unquote The rights have been bouncing from studio to studio for years now. The last time it was made into anything was 2011’s The Green Hornet starring Seth rogen, which did poorly.

Speaking of projects that might come again. The Crow is back in active development. According to Bloody Disgusting.com, Davis Films, Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow’s planned reboot of The Crow might be moving forward after nearly eighteen months of no movement. The reboot had originally been planned for release in October of last year, but development fell apart in Summer of 2018 when star Jason Mamoa and director Corin Hardy left the project causing Sony Pictures to pull it. So far no new director or actor has surfaced.

Ron Howard has given an update on Disney Plus’ Willow series. Ron talked to Variety about the project, quote “We’re working on it, it’s not greenlit, but I was just on the phone today discussing it with Jonathan who has written the scripts,” “It’s in serious development, but there’s nothing to announce quite yet.” unquote Ron also confirmed that talks are ongoing for Willow star warwick davis to return. Saying quote “If it happens, Warwick will definitely be a part of it,”

Disney Pixar’s new movie Onward has a lawsuit on its hands. The Hollywood reporter reports that artist Sweet Cecily Daniher is suing Onward producer Kori Rae over the design on the van driven by the movie’s main characters.  Her design called Vanicorn shows a white unicorn in front of a blue and purple sky with bolts of lightning extending behind it. In the movie the characters van shows a white Pegasus in front of a blue and purple sky with lightning bolts in the background.

According to Daniher, Disney contacted her to use Vanicorn as a showpiece for a festival . Not long after, she noticed the similarity and pointed it out online.

Onward producer Kori Rae apologized for not making her aware there were plans to use the Vanicorn design in the movie because, at the time of the festival, the movie didn’t have a title and without a title Disney couldn’t have Daniher sign a non disclosure agreement.

Ms. Daniher is now suing Disney for Copyright infringement as well as violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, the visual Artists rights act and the California Artists Protection Act. Onward hits theaters on March sixth.

The fortieth Golden Raspberry Awards aka The Razzie nominations have been announced and Cats ran away with it like well a cat from a dog. Cats got nominations for worst picture, director, actress, supporting actor for James Corden, Supporting actress for Dame Judi Dench and Rebel Wilson, Worst Screen Combo for any two characters in Cats and Jason Derulo and his CGI neutered bulge, and  screenplay. Hellboy received 5 nods including worst director, actor for David Harbour, worst prequel, remake, rip off or sequel, screenplay and reckless disregard for Human Life and Public Property. Dark Phoenix received two nominations worst prequel remake, rip off or sequel and worst supporting actor for Jessica Chastain. But it’s not all thumbs in the eyes, They also give out The razzie Redeemer Award for those who have come back from bad. This year’s nominations are Jennifer Lopez for Hustlers, Eddie Murphy for Dolemite IS my Name, Keanu Reeves for John Wick 3 and Toy Story 4, Adam Sandler for Uncut Gems and Will Smith for Aladdin. The ceremony date has not been announced yet.

But we do know who won the Oscars

Parasite walked away with four sucking the awards away from the front runner Joker, It won best director for Bong Joon Ho, Best original screenplay for Bong Joon Ho and Han Jin Won and both best picture and best international picture. Marking the first time a forign film won the best picture award.

Joaquin Phoenix won best actor for Joker, Taika Waititi won best adapted screenplay for Jojo Rabbit. Toy Story 4 won for best animated feature film. And I was hoping randy Newman or John Williams would have won this catergory but Best Original score went to Joker’s Hildur Guðnadóttir (pronounced Hill-dur Guth-nah-door-tier).  If I pronounced that right, please donate a dollar. Thank you.

Archie Comics Editor in Chief Victor Gorelick has passed away.  An announcement was made on the Archie Comic twitter account this past Saturday.Quote  “We are extremely heartbroken and devastated to inform the Archie family of the passing of Archie Comics icon and Editor in Chief, Victor Gorelick, who made Riverdale his home for over sixty years,” the statement read. “No person embodied the Archie spirit more than Victor, who was a leader, friend, and mentor to everyone that walked through the doors of Archie. A lifelong friend and mentor to Archie Comics Co-CEO, Jon Goldwater – and an inspiration to the entire Archie Comics family – Victor will never be forgotten. Multiverse Tonight Episode 42Sci Fi Edition

Tonight! Fans want a statue for Nog, Picard and Discovery hit New York Comic Con and the Walking Dead Universe gets an unsurprising name all that and more  on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the scifi edition of Multiverse Tonight. So, how’s the new fall season hitting you. The wife and I have gotten into Evil on CBS. We’re glad that the Good Place is back on.

So here’s a question for you? Is ten years too long to do a sequel? Zombieland Double Tap is coming out, the first one was ten years ago. And I find myself asking the question, is this too long to come out with the sequel. To prove that it’s too long, let’s take Independence Day Resurgence. Was a good movie, could have been a great movie, but it was just too long from the first movie to this one. The first one was in 1996, the sequel 20 years later, 2016. In other words, twenty years might  be too long. It might have been better to just relaunch the series with a new movie. Or maybe they should have put out the first back into theaters a month before first? Get people remembering the first one and then released the sequel? Either way, let’s come up with a rule, 20 years is too long. Will ten be too long? I guess we will see shortly. Personally, I think a sequel shouldn’t be more than 5 years after the previous one. More than that, you have to either reboot the whole thing or re release the previous one in wide release. Anyway, let’s get on with the news.

Star Trek

As we discussed in the last edition, the loss of Aron Eisenberg was sudden and it really hit the fan base hard. The outpouring of grief has been great and Some Star Trek fans have taken the initiative and have put up a petition on change dot org to have a statue of Captain Nog on display at Starfleet Academy in a future season of Star Trek Picard. It would make sense timeline wise as the show takes place decades after Deep Space Nine and the time period when Nog would or could  have been Captain. So far over two thousand six hundred have signed. We will have a link to the petition in the show notes. https://www.change.org/p/star-trek-creators-producers-fans-of-aron-petition-to-make-captain-nog-statue-at-starfleet-acadamy-canon-in-the-new-picard-series?recruiter=251534001&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_initial&utm_term=psf_combo_share_initial&recruited_by_id=a6e88f00-c882-11e4-9219-e937fb5329ea

Asked at NYCC if Captain Nog could possibly be made cannon Alex Kurtzman said quote We saw that petition and obviously we would love to honor Aaron in any way possible, so we will look for any opportunity,” unquote So I’m guessing we see something in Picard season two. Perhaps we could get a mention in Lower Decks?

The second season of Picard, which has been revealed by Sir Patrick will start production in March of next year. He spoke about the show at the University of Huddersfield in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. Speaking to Examiner Live Mister Stewart said quote“I am not giving up my stage work, though it may have to wait for now because there are three projects that I have finished, two films and the TV series, which all need promotion,” . “So I am clearing the decks for that and then there is also the possibility of a second Picard series filming in March next year.” unquote The show is eagerly awaited and will start airing on CBS All Access on January twenty third 2020 I wanna see this more than Discovery.

Star Trek Voyager’s commanding officer Kate Mulgrew took time out to commemorate the twenty fifth anniversary of her first ever scenes as Captain Kathern Janeway. She wrote on Facebook quote “It’s come to my attention that on this day, 25 years ago, I filmed my first scenes as Captain Janeway,”. “Thus, 25 years ago today I walked onto the Bridge and my life changed utterly. A singularly privileged and extraordinary journey on that intrepid vessel, with my beloved crew. How lucky I have been.” unquote. It should be noted that she was the second to take the role after actress Genevieve Bujold quit a few days into filming. Congratulations to the cast and crew of Voyager on the anniversary. Maybe we’ll get to see more Voyager characters in Picard than just Seven of Nine. Like Lieutenant JG Harry Kim?

New York Comic Con has brought us some news on Discovery and Picard. They released new trailers for both and CBS ALL Access has released the first short trek. Frankly I wouldn’t pay for Short Treks until Picard comes out, we got a release date. January twenty third 2020. The trailer seemed to confirm my suspicion that Data is just in Picard’s dreams. We also see our first look at old man Riker and Troi. Looks like they’re in retirement as well. So, let me take a moment to dissect the trailer. First off, it kinda confirms my suspicion that Data is just a dream of Picard’s. Two it looks like Starfleet Admirals are still a bunch of hardasses. Third I’m guessing he goes to The Rikers for help and they either turn him down or give him someone else to turn to for help.  Finally, we see a damaged Borg cube, we know we have two Ex Borg on this journey. So how do the Borg factor into this story, or is this just a side quest to Picard’s mission?

In the Discovery trailer, it looks like Burnham and the ship didn’t arrive at the same time. It also hints that the Federation might have collapsed at some point in the future as well. I’m gonna guess the Discovery will have to help rebuild the Federation. So I guess we’ll see sometime in 2020 when the show returns.

Just wish they had something to show from Lower Decks,

Star Wars

Not often do I dip into politics on this show and for good reason, but the New York Times Opinion twitter feed, posted something cute after the United States House of Representatives finally opened an impeachment inquiry into the possible high crimes of Donald Trump, put up an informational  little Star Wars like crawl entitled “The Last Straw”. It’s very cute and I’ll have a link to it in the show notes. https://twitter.com/i/status/1177383602792927232

Disney Plus’ Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which should really be titled O! Kenobi. Has found a director, Deborah Chow, who has just finished up work on The Mandalorians first season will be directing on the show which will see Ewan McGregor back in Obi-Wan’s boots and finds the Jedi in Hiding eight years after the events of revenge of the sith. No word on when they get to work yet or what the plot exactly is. I wonder if we’ll get to see Luke, he should be about eight years old right? Maybe the show is Obi-Wan taking Luke on adventures. I hope it’s not just Obi Wan watching Luke through binoculars….cause that’s just creepy.

Kevin Feige’s newly announced Star Wars film is big news maker lately and Ming-Na Wen and Chris Evans want in.  Chris Evans volunteered for Feige’s project on Twitter in response to a Collider story asking which MCU actor people would want to see in a Star Wars movie. Evans replied with one word quote Me unquote .  Ming Na Wen chimed in to Chris’ response with her own quote Me Too #StarWars unquote. Wen is already expected to appear in The Mandalorian and has more than enough geek cred to be a good choice for a role in this new film. Would you like to see Ming Na Wen or Chis Evans in this project? Who else would be a good choice for a new Star Wars movie? Let me know on twitter, email or Instagram.

So… what’s in the future for everyone’s favorite wookie Chewbacca? Chewie actor Joonas Suotamo spoke with Radio Times about The Rise of Skywalker and Chewie’s role, but he played it very close to the vest saying quote “Well, we’re going to have to wait and see.” Refusing to confirm or deny Chewbacca’s fate, “I would love to see Chewie more, but everything depends on this next film and the story.” unquote . He might have been quiet on Chewies role, he did have glowing words for the movie telling the site quote “It’s a great story, and we’re gonna have to wait until December to see what that’s all about. Everyone’s back together, they’re going on a great adventure together, facing the ever-growing danger from the First Order. And that’s gonna be something to see.” unquote  Hopefully we might see Chewie in The Mandalorian. Frankly it would be nice to have a Chewie animated series.

Remember in the Force Awakens when Kylo destroyed his helmet? Well he unbroke it. JJ Abrams addressed his helmet, which you can see in the trailer and the new action figure that just came out on Force Friday. Abrams told Empire Magazine quote “Having him be masked, but also fractured, is a very intentional thing,” “Like that classic Japanese process of taking ceramics and repairing them, and how the breaks in a way define the beauty of the piece as much as the original itself. As fracted as Ren is, the mask becomes a visual representation of that. There’s something about this that tells his history. His mask doesn’t ultimately hide him and his behavior is revealed.”  They should have made a short film of him supergluing the mask back together. Hey Robot Chicken, there’s a free sketch idea for you! Your welcome.

Force Friday has arrived and the new Star Wars toys have arrived. https://ew.com/movies/star-wars-rise-of-skywalker-toys/?slide=6520926#6520926

Marvel will be relaunching the Star Wars comic book this January with a new creative team and story Lucasfilm confirmed at NYCC. The new series will take place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and will have Charles Soule as writer and art by Jesus Saiz. The official press release describes the new series as quote “In the wake of the events following The Empire Strikes Back, it is a dark time for the heroes of the Rebellion. The Rebel fleet…scattered following a disastrous defeat at the Battle of Hoth. Han Solo…lost to the bounty hunter, Boba Fett, after being frozen in carbonite. And after being lured into a trap on Cloud City and bested in a vicious lightsaber duel against the evil Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker…learned the horrible truth about his past. Vader did not kill Luke’s father Anakin–Vader is Luke’s father! Now, after narrowly escaping the dark lord’s clutches, and wounded and reeling from the revelation, Luke, Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, the Wookiee Chewbacca and the droids C-3PO and R2-D2 must fight their way back to the Rebel Alliance—for the fate of the entire galaxy is at stake! After so many losses is victory still possible? But, what Leia, Luke and their ragtag band of freedom fighters do not realize is that they have only traded one Imperial trap for another! Enter the cunning and vengeful Imperial Commander Zahra, at the helm of the Tarkin’s Will!” unquote I’m surprised they would name anything after Grand Moff Tarkin after the death star blew up.

The third season of Stranger Things has come and gone. People waited in anticipation for news of Season Four. Well, your pleas have been answered. Season Four has been announced by Netflix with a new teaser trailer. The video ends with the cryptic “We’re not in Hawkins anymore,”. Road Trip! No date when the next season will arrive, but it’s likely in late 2020 or 2021.

The second season for Snowpiercer has been moved back to TNT, Warner Media announced this past week, the show based on the film had been announced to move from TNT to TBS The show has not had an easy life having lost two showrunners and two directors already. According to the Hollywood reporter, Chief Content Officer of HBO Max and President of TNT, TBS and TruTV Kevin Reilly explained quote “We’ve had the unique opportunity to more thoroughly test and explore where this show will best perform. While we are still adding dramas to TBS (such as Obliterated), after further research and consideration we’ve decided to keep Snowpiercer on TNT,” he said in a statement announcing the news. “Now that we’ve seen this incredible post-apocalyptic sci-fi series in its entirety, and better understand the audience this show will appeal to, we’re confident it will perform strongest on TNT.”A release date for season two has not been announced but the second season should arrive in Spring 2020.

Disney will apparently be making another live-action Inspector Gadget movie according to a report from the hollywood reporter. The movie will be produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich who produced the live action Aladdin movie, Mikey Day and Streeter Sidell will write the script. The film, based on the 80’s cartoons about a detective full of gadgets last saw the big screen in 1999 with Matthew Broderieck in the role. It…didn’t perform great.  But merited a direct to DVD sequel a few years later. Disney is busy making live action versions of cartoon classics. Lady and the Tramp, Mulan, Cruella, Little Mermaid and Lilo and Stitch are all still on the docket.

The Walking Dead family of shows and movies has an official name and it’s kinda redundant. AMC posted on twitter that the title was The Walking Dead Universe. Wouldn’t the Walkerverse work better? Did they think we would confuse it with Walker Texas Ranger? Walker Texas Ranger by the way is getting a reboot starring Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki.

The showrunner for The Walking Dead is hinting that season ten will have more lighter moments than previously in order to balance out the tone of the show. Kang talking to tvline said quote “There’s a certain amount of fun even though there’s this really, really tense and scary thing that is ramping up with our people,”. “That’s something that we really wanted to explore with our people — a way to blow off steam. We’re all human at the end of the day, and you can’t always be living in a dark, nihilistic state. That’s really difficult. So for our people to be able to have these lighter moments helps them — and it helps the actors, too — deal with the seriousness of everything else that’s happening.” unquote

We also learned at New York Comic Con that Lauren Cohan will be returning to the series.Cohen’s Maggie will return sometime in season 10 and than become a regular character again in season 11

The sequel to the reboot of Halloween. Halloween Kills is bring back characters from the past . Anthony Michael Hall will be back as Tommy Doyle, one of the kids that Laurie Strode was babysitting. Also returning will be Nancy Stephens Nurse Marion Chambers

, who was nearly killed by Michael in the original Halloween. Halloween ends will be in theaters i two years on October fifteenth 2021.

And finally, good news fans of the now Hulu Original Series The Orville, we got some news out of New York Comicon. A panel was held for the show with everyone but the always busy Seth Macfarlane and it was revealed their will be eleven episodes in season 3, now that may seem small, but it was also revealed that the episodes would be longer than they used to be up to twelve to fifteen minutes longer acording to orvile co producer Tom Costantino. The show will return about a year from now in late 2020.

Multiverse Tonight 45 Comic Book edition

Tonight! Sony and Disney get along, Rachael Maddow enters the Arrowverse and Todd McFarlane makes a world record on this edition of Multiverse Tonight!

Welcome to the comics edition of Multiverse Tonight. We’ve got a lot of good news in this show today. Fall is here, Winter is fast approaching. I suppose it’s good that I have a lot of things I can do indoors, I’ve picked up a lot of coffee table books, The DC Anatomy of a Metahuman book and Tobin’s Spirit Guide from Insight editions…they were on sale. Good price, nice books.

Marvel

The Black Widow movie is in production and it looks like General Thunderbolt Ross might be showing up. Podcaster @_CharlesMurphy on twitter posted that quote William Hurt, aka Thunderbolt Ross, is currently on the set of what I believe to be additional photography for ‘BLACK WIDOW.’ ScarJo is not believed to be there. Could Ross be visiting with Yelena in a post credit scene setting up a ‘THUNDERBOLTS’ project? That I cannot confirm. Unquote  Last time we saw him was in Endgame paying his respects at the funeral for Tony Stark. Of course, this movie takes place between Captain America Civil War and Infinity War. Is he hunting Natasha after she defected in civil war? His he trying to recruit her for his own team? Guess we’ll have to wait and see when it comes out on May 1st 2020.

Variety reports that with Marvel Studios starting work on tv shows, the fate of Marvel Television seems to be up for some debate. According to several sources that have spoken with Variety, the consensus is that live action productions will all if not mostly be taken away from Jeph Loeb’s Marvel Television division and placed in the more powerful Kevin Feige’s camp in the future. An unknown TV lit agent who spoke to the publication said quote “Feige’s shows are so far beyond anything Marvel TV has been able to do,” “He has access to all of these MCU characters that the other Marvel live-action stuff just doesn’t, not to mention way bigger budgets.”

The budgets for the Marvel Studios projects would probably way higher than Marvel TV gets with budgets probably in the 100 million dollar range for six to eight episodes.. For comparison, the first seasons of Daredevil, Jesica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist combined was around 200 million.

Though Marvel Television has  its share of successes itself , the current slate of shows has atrophied to Runaways on Hulu, Cloak and Dagger at Freeform and the upcoming series Helstrom. However it should be noted that Marvel TV does have a lot of upcoming animated shows in its portfolio, including the new animated shows coming to Hulu.

So, should Marvel Television stick to Animation and leave the TV shows to Marvel Studios instead? Or should they just fold themselves into Marvel Studios? What do you think?

Marvel Comics and Games workshop have announced that they are teaming up to publish comics based on the Warhammer line of tabletop games. Games Workshop announcement on their website posted quote “Marvel Comics are the name behind many of the world’s best-loved superhero characters (you know, like Spider-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four),” Games Workshop stated as part of announcing the news. “With more than 80 years of comics experience, Marvel has built an amazing reputation for bringing together the best comic book writers and artists to forge stories that span generations. It’s not for nothing that Marvel has cemented itself as a household name.” unquote This isn’t Warhammers first foray into comics, having teamed up with Titan Comics, that deal ended last year. No titles, creative teams or release dates have been announced.

Marvel and Sony have made a deal for more Spider-man. Thanks to Spider-man actor Tom Holland. Disney CEO Bob Iger appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Confirmed the actors involvement.  Telling Jimmy quote “We had an event called D23, which is a big Disney fan event; Tom was there because he’s a voice in a new Pixar movie called Onward with Chris Pratt,” Iger says. “And he said something onstage and it was clear that the fans wanted Tom back as Spider-Man made by Marvel and our Marvel production team.” The executive is of course referring to Holland’s emotional message to fans gathered at the convention, “I love you 3,000.”

“After D23, Tom reached out to folks who worked for me, ‘Could I please have Bob’s email address or phone number?’ Of course I’m very protected and they were very careful,” Iger continues. “I said, ‘Sure, have him contact me.’ And he did. We spoke. Basically he made a… he cried on the phone.”

To which Jimmy Kimmel replied, “Really?!”

Iger continued with a laugh saying  “No, not really. But it was clear that he cared so much and actually we care a lot about him. He’s a great Spider-Man. I actually felt for him, and it was clear that the fans wanted this to happen. So after I got off the phone with him I made a couple of phone calls to our team at Disney Studios and then I decided to call the head of Sony and I said, ‘We gotta figure out a way to get this done.’ For Tom and for the fans. And we did. That’s how it happened. He called me and I called them.”

The deal is for two more movies. The sequel to homecoming in July 2021 and than another unknown movie. Both produced by Marvel Studios Kevin Feige. Disney will get a proportionally bigger cut of the profits, reportedly twenty five percent versus the previous cut of five percent, but will have to pay a proportionally twenty five percent of the production costs.  Sony will get the remaining monies, plus the distribution fee.

With the bad blood behind them, Deadline reports that Jon Watts in talks to return to the franchise for the third MCU Spiderman movie.

During the X-Men panel at New York Comic Con Marvel announced a new ongoing series for Wolverine, his first since 2014. Wolverine #1 will be written by Benjamin Percy with art by Adam Kubert and Victor Bog don avic. Percy has experience writing about Wolverine having written Wolverine The Long Night and The Lost Trail podcasts. The series will debut in February.

DC

Brandon Routh has put the S back on. And as expected he’s going to be The Kingdom Come version of Superman. A photo of Brandon Routh was released with the actor in the costume with graying temples. Brandon Routh will join Tom Welling and Erica Durance will be in the crossover as the Smallville versions of Superman and Lois Lane. Routh will also be doing double duty as Ray The Atom Palmer. He will in turn be joined by a new Atom, Ryan Choi played by Osric Chau . The crisis crossover will begin on Supergirl on December eighth and continue on that week’s Batwoman and The Flash and than continue on January fourteenth on Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.

Joining these stars in the crossover will be Ashley Scott who played Huntress on Birds of Prey, the WB series that lasted for threaten episodes in 2002.

Supergirl has a new suit and a new haircut this season, but they almost decided not to have her new haircut in the show. Costume Designer Victoria Auth told insider dot com quote “We were moving the whole concept of ‘Supergirl’ into a bit more sophistication, and I think she just thought, ‘new suit, new ‘do,'” Auth told Insider. “It kind of worked to balance each other. They were going to put her in a wig and hold on to the old cut, but then once they saw it, they thought it was a nice freshening.” unquote

Didn’t Supergirl have a mohawk in one version in the comic books? Frankly I’ve always liked Supergirl with billowy Farrah Fawcett kinda hair, but that’s just me.

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow will be making an appearance on Batwoman. The Hollywood Reporter  says she will play DC Universe tv and radio personality Vesper Fairchild. IN the comics the character was one of Bruce Wayne’s one time girlfriends. Maddow will be seen once but heard in multiple episodes. Rachael shared her excitement on Twitter saying quote “I know no one’s going to believe this is true, but it’s true. I’m ‘Vesper Fairchild’ in the new Batwoman TV show that starts this Sunday night on The CW. (My character is soooo not me; turns out playing her is one of the most fun things I’ve ever done).”  Showrunner caroline dries said in a statement quote “We consider Vesper Fairchild to be the sardonic Voice of Gotham,” “In addition to Rachel’s interest in Batwoman, we thought she’d be the perfect casting choice because her own hard-hitting journalism wildly contrasts Vesper’s penchant for snark, gossip and criticism of female superheroes.”

And on the heels of that announcement comes this one, Sabastian Roche from the Man in the High Castle and Vampire Diaries has joined the cast of Batwoman as a recurring character named Dr. Campbell.

The Joker is getting a lot of mileage this year, isn’t he. Legendary filmmaker John Carpenter is getting his turn at the clown prince of crime as the writer of the comic The Joker Year of the Villain. Here’s the blurb: “In this one-shot special, Lex Luthor – now a human-alien hybrid – has made his appeal to the world, asking its citizens to embrace doom and give in once and for all to evil, humanity’s true nature. In exchange, he will grant them the tools to ascend to their ultimate selves. While some DC villains (and heroes) are willing to hear what “Apex Lex” has to offer, the Clown Prince of Crime isn’t going to wait around until Lex gets to him. This puts The Joker on a mission to get his swagger back in a world gone bad by out-badding everyone else, proving that the greatest evil is always the one that leaves them laughing.” The comic will be out this week.

Comedian and acgor Pete Davidson missed the preiere of SNL to film James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad in Atlanta.. Pete also went to a special screening of The Joker in Atlanta with the cast of the movie. James Gunn posted a picture of the cast on Instagram. “#TheSuicideSquad (and Pom). Many of us are doing weird things in this photo. After a screening of Joker (thanks @wbpictures!),” No word on when Pete will be returning to Saturday Night Live.

At NYCC DC announced that they are releasing  a new official DC Timeline. In this timeline, Wonder Woman is the first superhero of the Golden Age. There are four eras on this time timeline, The first“Dawn of the Heroic Age,” includes the Justice Society of America, the All Star Squadron, and the Freedom Fighters. The Second“The Space Age,” began with Superman and featured the Justice League and Doom Patrol before giving way to The Third“The Age of Crisis,” starting with Crisis on Infinite Earths. And the fourth “The Flashpoint,”starting with Flashpoint the current era and extending into the future of the just-reintroduced Legion of Super-Heroes. I’m pretty happy to stay in the third.

Todd McFarlane believes that there will be a Spawn Universe. Todd Speaking with comic book dot coms Jim Viscardi was asked if it was time to expand Spawn even title wise, Todd replied quote “So essentially there’s been a blink in the universe and it’s sort of awakened a bunch of things or it’s triggered a bunch of things. And so this battle that he’d been raging for 300 issues, almost exclusively as a solo act is now going to slowly morph into that,” “Not necessarily that he’s going to have a team, although that could be possible in the future. But that he’s not going to be alone and that there’s going to be other soldiers in this war because it’s a daunting task what he’s trying to do right now. And, he intellectually knows he can’t do it by himself. So he’s going to get help one way or another, whether he wants it or not, helps coming.” “The bigger sort of stories moving forward is what does all that mean? A) help is always good, but if the people helping you don’t have the same mindset or have their own agendas or have their own attitudes, then what seems like it should be a positive can turn into a neutral or a negative. And those are all the things that arguably any theme books go through, the mechanisms of who are all these individuals when they run into each other.” He also said that there would be some new material coming to the books. Saying quote And, then we’re going to start going from there and then building hopefully some new super villains if you will, that will be on par with the Clown and some of the other characters I’ve had in the book. But maybe in 10 years, we’ll be thought of in the same category as some of the big sort of iconic superheroes. Don’t know if it’ll happen, but I think it’s time. I think it’s time to just create my Spawn verse, if you will.

And with issue 301 The Guinness World Records will be giving Todd MacFarlane the world record for longest running creator owned superhero comic book series

Netflix’s Bojack Horseman is coming to an end with season 6. The last season will be presented in two parts, the first part will debut at the end of October and the second half at the end of January. IN a press release about it McFarlane talked about how long running series come in on the backs of a lot of people saying quote “As much as I am proud to be receiving this award, I gratefully accept it on behalf of all those who helped me the past 27 years on this journey.” unquote

It’s now official. Kevin Smith’s next film will be Clerks 3. Kevin broke the news in a post on Instagram and a poster standing next to Jay Mewes and Jeff Anderson quote”3 CLERKS,” . “Thanks to the good folks at [Leeloo Multiprops], I got to see Randal! Jeff Anderson, Jay Mewes, and I spend Saturday signing stuff and catching up, seeing so much movie merch that’s been made over the last 25 years (hit the Leeloo site for sweet signed skateboards)! But even better than that? We talked about making a movie together. It’ll be a movie that concludes a saga. It’ll be a movie about how you’re never too old to completely change your life. It’ll be a movie about how a decades-spanning friendship finally confronts the future. It’ll be a movie that brings us back to the beginning – a return to the cradle of civilization in the great state of New Jersey. It’ll be a movie that stars Jeff and Brian O’Halloran with me and Jay in supporting roles. And it’ll be a movie called CLERKS III!” unquote. This will be a new version of the script and not the old one that he wrote a few years back.

Disney Plus and Amazon have hit a snag. Amazon’s Fire TV might not get Disney Plus in a dispute over advertising. Amazon apparently wants the right to sell a quote “substantial percentage of the ad space on Disney apps,” unquote, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. Disney is resisting. Let’s hope the two mega money giants come to an agreement by next month as Disney Plus is set to debut on November twelfth.

Rick and Morty’s return is imminent! Adult Swim announced that Rick And Morty will be back for a five episode half season run on November 10th. Just remember that this is just the beginning as the show was renewed for 70 episodes.

The peacock network NBC is putting into development a post apocalyptic civilization rebuilding drama called The Vault from Keshet Studios and Universal TV. The Vault is written by Jesse Lasky and centers around a cataclysmic event seemingly wipes out the planet, the survival of humanity rests upon Annie, a geobiologist who has been setting up a state-of-the-art facility in the Arctic known as the Vault. It houses a dozen experts in their respective fields all with specific skill sets that would be essential in rebuilding civilization.

Now let’s get on with the show.

Star Wars news begins with a lot of peaks at the Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World and Disney Land. The DisneyLand version will open on May 31st, while the Disney World version will open on August 29th.

First off, is the new Tie Fighters https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsLeaks/comments/avw1wz/tie_echelon_from_galaxys_edge_and_maybe_ix/?utm_content=media&utm_medium=post_embed&utm_name=2de182e27dc54057950d572ea822c0c1&utm_source=embedly&utm_term=avw1wz The TIE Echelon, which was confirmed by ABC News’s Clayton Sandall, will  appear in an upcoming movie, but nothing concrete on if it’ll be in Episode Nine. Sandall described quote It combines, if you could imagine Kylo’s shuttle kind of shrunken down into a TIE fighter look.” unquote We have also learned that the battalion of First Order Stormtroopers patrolling the park will be The 709th, aka The red Fury. Entertainment Weekly noted quote “This elite squad from The First Order has arrived on a new ship — the TIE Echelon, which has a cockpit similar to Kylo Ren’s batwinged shuttle but the curved foils of Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced x1.”

So while you’re at Disneyland or Disney World checking out the new Tie fighter and evading the Stormtroopers, why not sit down for a tall glass of Blue Bantha Milk. Blue Milk is, of course, what was served to Luke by his Aunt Beru in his last meal before his Aunt and Uncle met their grisly fates. Scott Trowbridge, the Disney Imagineer in charge of galaxy’s edge shared with Entertainment Weekly, quote  “I will tell you it’s not actually milk,”“If you’re walking around Florida in the middle of August, the last thing you want is, uh, a huge glass of milk.” He might be right, you might end up with a cold glass of Blue Cottage Cheese or worse. Perhaps they should make some cheese so you can have a Bantha Cheese pizza. Wonder if there’s an alchol filled version…a Blue Russian?

So you’ve had the milk, now what. We have word or two on the major attractions at Galaxy’s Edge. First off is Smuggler’s Run, which puts guests in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon has either a pilot, gunner or flight engineer, each with a different role, so you can have a different experience every time you ride.

Also you have Rise of the Resistance, that puts you in the role of a new recruit with the Resistance in a battle against the First Order and a face off with Kylo Ren. The journey takes you inside a full size starship and aboard a nearby Star Destroyer.

And of course you’re visit is not complete unless you empty your wallet of Galactic credits. The Droid Depot will let guests build their own astromech droids. Patrons will build either a R-series or BB series and can customize their droids with various parts and colors. You can also buy a pre-built droid and other droid related items.

You can also visit Savi’s Workshop to make your own lightsaber, Just cause the Jedi’s are no more doesn’t mean you can have a light sword of your own. And at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, guest will fine items from Star Wars galactic history, including holocrons, Jedi and Sith artifacts and more. There’s also a Toydarian Toymaker, the Resistance Supply for all your resistance gear, the First Order Cargo for your First Order gear. And much much more.

I’ll have a link in the show notes for an article at Comicbook.com with a list of all the locations at the park.

A leaked lego set might just have confirmed a return to Rey’s home planet of Jakku An Instargamer by the name of savcreationsog claims that a set titled Assault on Jakku will sell for nearly fifty dollars and contain 399 pieces. No images of the set and for all we know this might be a complete fabrication. However, it must be noted that Episode IX did have principal photography that took place in Jordan, where Jakku was filmed in The Force Awakens, so….connect your own dots or bricks.

Chris Avellone, the writer of Star Wars Knights of the Old republic II and Fallout New Vegas is apparently working on a new Star Wars game,  Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order for Respawn. The games writer took to Twitter and confirmed it quote “I can’t say 100% b/c of NDAs, but the ones I can say: I just finished up work with Jedi: The Fallen Order – and beyond that, there’s another big bomb dropping in a month,”. “Er, I mean, maybe. Ahem

Jedi Fallen Order is A new action adventure game which tells an original story set shortly after the events of Star Wars™: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith™.

Currently, to watch all 10 films in the Star Wars saga, one would have to watch around 23 hours of film. Lucky for us, Topher Grace and Jeff Yorkes have condensed that down into one five minute video entitled Star Wars forever. Topher announced the compilation on his twitter quote “10 movies. 2 nerds. 1 weekend (when our wives were out of town). Enjoy…” The video boils it down to the key or iconic moments in the movies. This isn’t the first time Topher has taking a knife to Star Wars, back in 2012, he whittled down the prequel trilogy down to a single film. Topher said that it wasn’t a way to discredit George Lucas’ it was just an experiment to hone his editing skills. Topher told IndieWire why he did it. Quote“I don’t know what other guys do. Go fishing? For me, this is just a great way to relax,” “There’s something really zen about it.” So is there something you’d like to edit down into a smaller package?

Star Wars Celebration is just around the corner and our friends over at SciFi4Me will have a correspondent at the event. And Jedi News has revealed some of the exclusive merchandise that will be offered at the event. First on the list is Plush Loth-Wolves in white or grey from Star Wars Rebels. There’s also a Rancor tiki mug with a Luke Skywalker muglet by Geeky Tiki, a special Celebration mug with an adorable Porg surprise inside. And a Darth Maul jacket to honor the 20th anniversary of The Phantom Menace.  Twenty years since the Phantom Menace. I guess it’s time to fire up the Bluray and see if it holds up.

Star Trek

So many Trek series, so little time…Let’s start off with The Picard show is on a hiring first off is the initial director for the pilot episode, That honor goes to Hanelle Culpepper. Hanelle might be relatively new to trek having only directed two episodes of Discovery, but she has quote the directoral pedigree. She has directed for Empire Criminal Minds, Sleepy Hollow, Grimm, Gotham, Lucifer and The Flash. This will also make her the first female director to helm a pilot episode for the franchise. We also have word straight from the mouth of Trek Alum Jonathan Frakes that he will direct  the new series. Telling the Writer Experience Podcast quote Now my season looks like Star Trek: Discovery – the new wonderful Star Trek series, the Picard show – which Patrick [Stewart] is launching, and The Orville, which is some people’s new Star Trek. And I just finished The Gifted, which is a sort of X-Men Marvel origins show. So, I am back in that world. Unquote

In front of the camera we will see, Santiago Cabrera and Michelle Hurd, Cabrera has recently starred in the CBS series Salvation and Big Little Lies on HBO and Hurd’s credits include Blind Spot, the Fox tv version of Lethal Weapon as well as Ash vs Evil Dead, Daredevil and Jessica Jones. No word on what roles either actor will be in the series.

We got some new details about when production will begin. Production Weekly Said that production will begin on April 14th and go for five and a half months finishing on October 1st. The show will be shot at Santa Clarita Studios, 35 miles north of the old Paramount Studios where most Star trek series were produced. This is also the studio where Patrick Stewart filmed his two season Starz comedy series Blunt Talk.

We also have a hint at the series title, Production Weekly lists the title as Star Trek Destiny with a working title as Drawing Room. It should be noted that Destiny is one of the titles that CBS trademarked last year..

By the way,  Congratulations to actress Mary Wiseman who tied to note to her fiance Noah last month.

Moving on to shows starting production to one with episodes aplenty under its belt. CBS All Access has renewed Discovery as expected for it’s third season with production set to start in July and it will have yet another new showrunner. Michelle Paradise has been promoted to co showrunner alongside Alex Kurtzman, To quote Alex Kurtzman in the official announcement, quote “Michelle joined us midway through season two and energized the room with her ferocious knowledge of Trek,” . “Her grasp of character and story detail, her drive and her focus have already become essential in ensuring the Trek legacy, and her fresh perspective always keeps us looking forward. I’m proud to say Michelle and I are officially running Star Trek: Discovery together.” I’ll have to agree that this season has been markedly better than last season. The main story is interesting, however… Maybe season three can see it tightened up some more? It’s expected that season three will air in the second or third quarter of 2020, after the new Picard show finishes up.

Now I mentioned Jonathan Frakes a couple of minutes ago, and that wasn’t the only thing he mentioned in that interview Mr. Frakes also assessed CBS’s plans for the franchise on tv quote My understanding is that Alex Kurtzman and Secret Hideout are creating a Star Trek show that will hopefully allow fans of Trek to have something fresh to see all the time. That is why Discovery, now that it is a hit, will continue, and they have announced Sir Patrick’s show, which is not titled, that will air after Discovery. And they have announced they are developing a show for Michelle Yeoh, so Empress Georgiou who is a character on Discovery will have her own stories. They have hired the guy from Rick and Morty – [Mike McMahan] – to write an animated show called Lower Decks, which I have seen parts of that are hysterical. So you have one, two, three, four. They’ve got a Nickelodeon connection for a little kid’s Star Trek, so that’s five. So, there is a world that is being created by Kurtzman and his team that will hopefully continue for many years and provide entertainment, and obviously conversation, about Star Trek for decades. Unquote  Jonathan talks a lot more about directing on the podcast, we will have a link to The Writer Experience podcast in our show notes. https://soundcloud.com/writerexperience/ep38

We also have an update on the DS9 documentary What we Left Behind. They’ve been working for months, to put 20 minutes of Deep Space Nine footage into HD. They released an update on the official website quote We’re nearly through the heavy research-and-scanning stage of our remaster, and with just a few (hundred) more film rolls ahead of us, we’re hard at work replacing the 20+ minutes of new HD sequences — spanning ALL SEVEN seasons of the original run of Deep Space Nine! Unquote  And they also posted an update on how close they are to release quote The restoration process alone is a HUGE undertaking — after all your support in funding this expensive endeavor, it has taken months of work from the CBS Digital team to coordinate, research, find, ship, scan and deliver the original film negatives for us, and more time from our team to clean up, color, and polish the resulting images (and even re-create a handful of effects!).

While we’re still waiting on final elements to arrive and distribution details to lock firmly into place, we don’t want to promise any deadlines we can’t meet with the film not yet entirely complete. They also teased a big update to come this month. So stay tuned…

Set a course for the Gamma Quadrant, GameSamba announced a sequel to Star Trek Alien Domain, Star Trek Alien Domain Incursion. The web browser based new game, which is now available pits groups of players against The Dominion in a battle for control of resources. The game is described as a hybrid of a simulation and strategy game. You can play the game at https://incursion.gamesamba.com

Marvel News

We start off Marvel news with Captain Marvel. The movie opened this past weekend grossing 455 million dollars worldwide, 153 million of that from the US. This made it the seventh largest opening for a Marvel movie of all time and puts it 18th on the list of biggest opening weekends of all time domestically.

Marvel movie star Samuel L Jackson has played both a Jedi and an agent of shield and he would be more than happy to reprise his Star wars roel of Mace Windu if asked, his Captain Marvel co-star Brie Larson confirmed to entertainment weekly that Sam even brought his lightsaber to the set of the marvel movie. Quote “I got to hold his lightsaber! He brought it to me on set on May the 4th, and I cried. It was so cool. I wanna be a Jedi.” unquote of course May the 4th is best known as Star Wars day.

Of course, we know that Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s, a time of video stores, well an interesting pop up shop has popedup in Canada (as far as we know) in the mall, a parody of Blockbuster video called Stanley’s video. Not an actual video store apparently but a scavenger hunt that nets the participant a Captain Marvel pin as a prize. Nifty.

And congratulations appear to be in order for Captain Marvel co-star Jude Law, according to Closer Weekly, Jude has officially gotten engaged to his girlfriend of four years business psychologist Phillipa Coan. This will be the second marriage for Mr. Law. The Sun reports that the wedding will take place in May with Jude’s eldest son Rafferty serving as best man.

Now over to the comic book side Thanos and Infinity Wars Artist Mike Deodato Jr.  has announced his departure from the House of ideas. However he won’t be leaving immediately, he’ll leave in June. According to Mr, Deodato On his facebook page, quote “Like everything in adult life, all decisions we make come with consequences, a price to be paid,” “In this case, in order to live my adult dream I have to let go my child dream. I have to leave Marvel. To leave home.”

“Marvel became a family to me, I grew as an artist and as a person together with all the good people I have worked there. The best people,” “Always encouraging me, always treating me with respect and care. It is weird that I feel like a teenager leaving home to face the world when I am older than a lot of them, but that is how I feel.
And I will miss and treasure them.” He did however teased he has one more project before he leaves, quote “June 14 will be my last day at home [Marvel], but you will keep seeing me for a while after that,” “Because my family would not let me go without a gift and what they gave me was the most amazing book ever, an opportunity for me to revisit all the characters I care the most in Marvel Universe – The Savage Avengers. I couldn’t think of a better farewell gift. We wish Dedato good wishes on his future endeavors.

On to the Sony side of the Marvel coin perhaps I should start calling it a die, there are more sides that way, Venom 2 is searching for a new director. As Venom director Ruben Fleischer won’t direct the sequel, Discussing Film has confirmed with Sony that he has departed.  According to the report production on the sequel is currently on the schedule for this November in Atlanta. Anyone want to do it?

Spiderman Into the Spider Verse is an Academy Award winning film. So how better to capitalize on this? Spin-offs! A new report from Discussing Film  says that Sony is looking into more spin offs than just the Spider Verse sequel and the all female spinoff. Which would suit Spider Verse producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller just fine, Lord told comicbook.com quote “Look, we wanted to make a movie that felt like it was the tip of the iceberg,” “You could imagine all of these other things. So it’s music to our ears that people could imagine a Spider-Noir film, and the Spider-Ham insane cartoon.” Into the Spider-verse grossed 362.8 million worldwide and had a budget of 90 million.

Now for some breaking business news. Disney has set the closing date for the merger as 12:02 AM Eastern Time on March 20th. This indicates that the final regulatory hurdle from regluators in Mexico has been achieved.

Not all of this is great as up to 4, 000 layoffs are expected to occur as the two companies integrate.

The closing also means that a new corporation is born, Fox Corporation will emerge from the bits and pieces of 21st Century Fox that Disney didn’t buy.

By the way, I do own stock in Disney.

DC News

We start the DC Universe news with the end…of Arrow. Stephen Amell, who plays the Green Arrow on the show announced it on his twitter feed  quote Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience of my life… but you can’t be a vigilante forever. Arrow will return for a final run of 10 episodes this Fall,”. “There’s so much to say… for now I just want to say thank you.” The show that launched the Arrowverse of shows shot it’s first arrow in October of 2012.

Krypton’s second season has wrapped shooting. The Syfy network show left off on a bit of a cliff hanger. Season 2 will debut sometime later this year.

DC’s Legends of tomorrow has a new series regular. Jes Macallan, who plays Time Bureau director Ava Sharpe has closed a deal to return permanently for season five of the WB show according to an exclusive report on Deadline dot com. Jes joined the series as Ava in season 3.

In movie news, Aquaman has passed Guardians of the galaxy on the all time domestic box office list. So far, Aquaman has grossed  333.2 million in the united states passing the first Guardians movie which grossed 333.17 million. Aquaman is one of the best performing DCEU movies and it’s already put a sequel and a spinoff based on The Trench into production.

DC is having a bit of a resurgence with the success of Aquaman and the anticipation over Shazam! The stand alone movie things seems to be doing well for DC movies. Speaking with the LA Times, Warner Bros. Entertainment CEO Kevin Tsujihara spoke about this new strategy

Quote “The upcoming slate, with Shazam, Joker, Wonder Woman 1984 and Birds of Prey, feels like we’re on the right track,” said Tsujihara. “We have the right people in the right jobs working on it. The universe isn’t as connected as we thought it was going to be five years ago. You’re seeing much more focus on individual experiences around individual characters. That’s not to say we won’t at some point come back to that notion of a more connected universe. But it feels like that’s the right strategy for us right now.” Sounds a lot like their going more for the Marvel version of universe building. Sounds like a good idea.

The streaming service DC Universe’s Doom Patrol series has revealed that Aquaman exists in their universe after Robotman referenced the King of the seas. Robotman teased Cyborg as Cyborg looked for his keys saying quote “I bet Aquaman doesn’t lose his keys.”. Of course Aquaman doesn’t lose his keys, they’re on a little seahorse keychain.

Shazam!s running time has been revealed and you’ll want to block two hours and twelve minutes. That puts it’s run time between Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad in length and a few minutes longer than Captain Marvel.

Swamp Thing is currently under production and director les wiseman showed off a video on his Instagram showing off the creepy set. In the video Len is shown wading in the swamp, feeling around for something in the water. We don’t know what he was searching for, but one thing has been found. Adrienne Barbeau, who starred in the swamp thing movie back in 1982 will be in the new series. What role she will play has not been revealed.

Geek News

We begin Geek News with an old man complaining. Steven Spielberg thinks that movies made for Netflix should be ineligible for the Academy Awards and is proposing a rule change to accomplish this. All this because Roma, which was produced by Netflix and ran in a theater for a short time in order to be eligible for the Oscars nearly won Best Picture. It did however walk away with three awards, Best Director, Best Foreign Language Film and Best Cinematography. A spokesperson for Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment said quote “Steven feels strongly about the difference between the streaming and theatrical situation,” a spokesperson for Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment said. “He’ll be happy if the others will join [his campaign] when that comes up [at the Academy Board of Governors meeting]. He will see what happens.” Now it’s not that Steven is alone in this battle, there are other reports that say that some Academy members think Netflix spent too much too market the film to Academy members and that you shouldn’t be able to just put a release in a couple of theaters for less than a week to qualify for the awards.  If any change is made by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. We’ll let you know.

Speaking of films, we have some possible casting news on the new Ghostbusters movie from Sony. According to Variety, Carrie Coon and Finn Wolfhard are in talks to play a mother and her son. Apparently these characters will be the center of plot. Not much is known about the film, which is being helmed by Jason Reitman, son of the original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman. The film should be filmed this summer and be released in July next year.

Now I know what you’re thinking, We don’t need another Ghostbusters movie and you may or may not be right. However do you think we need a sequel to the Tom Cruise movie of many titles, Edge of Tomorrow aka Live, Die, Repeat? Well get ready for one. Warner Bros is moving ahead with the movie with Invention of Lying scribe Matthew Robinson writing the script. The original from 2014 based on the Japanese novel, All you need is Kill did make 370 plus million worldwide. Tom Cruise , whose 56 by the way, has not signed on for the sequel but it’s expected that they will.

As you know, I love the Orville. It’s my favorite series right now. Well now we get an expansion this summer with a new comic book mini – series from Dark Horse Comics. The four issue series will be written by  The Orville executive producer and writer David A Goodman with art by David Cabeza and color from Michael Atiyeh and will take place between seasons one and two and be split into two storylines. Story one is called New Beginnings and sees Ed and Gordon on a journey to a fleet conference when they find a distress call from a Union ship that’s older than a century. The second storyline follows The Orville as the ship discovers a Union ship headed toward Krill space, but could it be something more complicated and deadly? The Orville miniseries comes out on July 17th.

The world was shocked this past week by the announcement from Jeopardy! host Alex trebek that he has Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.  Alex decided to get ahead of tabloid journalism and make the announcement himself.
