Leslye Headland’s Disney Plus Star Wars series has been much anticipated, now we’re getting an idea of what the show will be about Headland in an interview with Youtuber Fantastic Frankey, said that the show will be a martial arts thriller with a female protagonist at a point of time that has been unexplored in previous Star Wars shows and movies quote “I would say it’s in a pocket of the universe and a pocket of the timeline that we don’t know much about,” “That’s what I can say.” unquote About the show being female centric she said quote “Just because my show is technically, yes, ‘female-centric’, meaning it centers around a female protagonist, I don’t think that necessarily excludes men from that space,”. “I relate to male characters all the time. I root for Mando. I root for Luke… An inclusive space means an inclusive space. But at the same time, I think that just because something has a female protagonist doesn’t necessarily mean it’s only for women.”

“I kind of see if Star Wars is a religion… I like to think of my show as a tent revival,” Headland continued. “You can come over if you want to. We’re going to be talking about some cool stuff. There’s going to be some things we haven’t discussed in the canon yet. There are going to be some characters you don’t know about. I would love you to join us. I would love you to be interested in it. If it’s not your thing — the cool thing about Star Wars right now is there’s so much you can align yourself with and get invested in, but if you don’t like it, that’s fine.” unquote So not a lot of go on here, maybe we’ll get more on the show in the spring.

Star Trek author Dave Galanter, who wrote the Discovery Novel Dead Endless has revealed that he is battling late state cancer, in a post on twitter the author wrote, quote

Dutch Physicists at Leiden University have created a microscopic microprinted ship that resembles the USS Voyager that moves on its own in liquid. The ship, which was built as part of a larger research project. The ship was highlighted in a scientific paper entitled quote “Catalytically propelled 3D colloidal microswimmers” published in the journal Soft Matter. The mini ship is one of several artificial microswimmers and is only microns big and will be able to move thanks to chemical reactions between the platinum coating and the hydrogen peroxide solution it is place in. The researchers are hopeful that these 3D printed designs will help them learn more about biological microswimmers, like bacteria, white blood cells and sperm. The hope is that by learning who those things work, they could design a medical use for synthetic microswimmers. Think the nanites from Star Trek.

During ViacomCBS’s third quarter investors conference call, CEO Bob Bakish held up Star Trek as a sort of proof of the potential for the streaming service. Quote We ended the quarter with 17.9 million domestic subscribers, up 72% year-on-year, which basically puts us just under the year-end [target]… And both, CBS All Access and Showtime [streaming], each had robust consumption growth in signups. Starting with All Access, the service benefited from strong demand for sports, like UEFA and the NFL, originals like Star Trek: Lower Decks, and CBS network content like Big Brother and Love Island, as well as from the 3,500 library episodes added from Nickelodeon, BET, Comedy Central, MTV and Smithsonian. Plus, the almost 200 films from Paramount that we added in late July, as part of our preview launch. CBS All Access is now in the early stages of benefiting from the power of the combined company. Unquote Also talked about was how beneficial Star Trek has been to the growth of Pluto TV quote Pluto TV continues to build on its position as the number one FAST, free ad-supported streaming television service in the United States. In the quarter, Pluto TV’s domestic [monthly users] grew 57% to 28.4 million, and globally grew to nearly 36 million… In fact, in the U.S., Pluto now has well over 100,000 hours of compelling content available to consumers. We recently added nine ViacomCBS channels, including Star Trek, Bellator, CBSN, Dallas, and CSI. unquote

Paramount Plus was also brought up, the rebranding of CBS ALL ACCESS will be out in early 2021 and will combine quote live sports, breaking news and a mountain of entertainment, including exclusive original content, plus a diverse and deep library of shows and movies, spanning all programming genres from ViacomCBS’ leading brands in one unified service unquote

Back to the Future writer Bob Gale recently spoke with the Hollywood reporter about actress Elsa Raven who passed away on November third at the age of 91. Elsa will be known to back to the future fans as the lady asking for donations to Save the courthouse clock tower. Gale told the Hollywood reporter quote”She was one of those A-list performers who could turn a small role into a memorable one,” “Although she is on screen for probably less than a minute, everyone remembers her. And casting her is an example of director Bob Zemeckis’s philosophy that every role is important and can be made memorable.”

“Bob would never save money by hiring a cheaper performer in a small role, a lesson we learned on our first movie: a mediocre day player can ruin a film.””Elsa communicates some key exposition in our movie which the audience needs to know, and it takes a great actress and a great director to make that come across in an entertaining way,” “She will always be remembered. Elsa, rest in peace, and my condolences to your many nieces and nephews.” Elsa also appeared in movies notably The Amityville Horror, Twilight Zone the Movie, Indecent Proposal, and Titanic. She also appeared in several tv shows including Quincy M.E., The A-Team, Highway to Heaven, Frddy’s Nightmares, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Murphy Brown, Seinfeld, and Third Rock From The Sun.

The Orville’s Third Season is getting back on track. The production, like all Hollywood productions had been put on hold when the pandemic started, The Orville had gotten about halfway through shooting when the shutdown hit. Now prep work has begun, with production set to begin in December. No target date for the season debut has been announced, but the end of 2021 is expected.

Jurassic World Dominion has wrapped up production at UK’s Pinewood Studios which required 40,000 COVID tests, millions spent on protocols and for the isolation of the cast and crew. Director Colin Trevorrow told Deadline dot com quote “There are a lot of emotions,”“I’m not sure I can put it into words,” continues Trevorrow. “It has been remarkable. Our crew and our cast has been so resilient. All producers have worked around the clock to make it the best it can be. It has been inspiring.” unquote Trevorrow thinks that the experience of doing this during the quarantine will enhance the final film quote “I think that close proximity to each other has made the movie better. Everything we were going through emotionally we would share. We would rehearse on Sundays, we crafted the characters, which made the emotion of the film richer. I think the movie will be stronger for it.” unquote The movie is due out in June of 2022.

Johnny Depp is out of the Third Fantastic Beasts movie. He broke the news on Instagram saying quote “I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in ‘Fantastic Beasts’ and I have respected and agreed to that request” Even though he’s out of the movie, Depp will still make the ten million dollar salary he was to get for making the movie, he had a pay or play contract with Warner Bros that said the he would be paid regardless if he acted in the film or not.

The movie will now be pushed back from its original target in November of 2021 to the summer of 2022.

And while were on movie dates, Ryan Reynolds video game movie Free Guy and the sequel to Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the nile are now unmored from set release dates. Free Guy was due out on December eleventh and Death was due on December eighteenth. I guess we’ll just have to wait until covid settles down before we get to see these.

XBox ‘s first Halo Game, Halo: Combat Evolved came out Ninteen years ago this past Sunday. I’ll just let that one sit here…

Chris Claremont and Fabian Nicieza are returning to the X-Men to finally tell the story about the fabled third Summers brother. The series, called X-Men Legends is a series that will bring back some of the biggest writers in X-Men history to tell stories related to the time periods and stories in which they were writing the characters Fabian in a statement said quote”It’s incredibly exciting to finally tell the story of the infamous ‘third’ Summers brother. Twenty-five years in the making, to see the truth about Adam-X revealed — and drawn so magnificently by Brett Booth — is one of the most surreal experiences of my career!” “Getting the opportunity to tell this tale while kicking off the new X-Men Legends series is a x-tremely x-citing!” unquote Future issues of the series will feature work by Chris Claremont, Louise Simonson, Larry Hama, Peter David among others.

New Marvel Disney Plus series WandaVison will debut on the service on January fifteenth, it was expected that the series would debut in December. This makes the final season of Agents of Shield the only MCU series or movie during 2020. And here’s a fun fact, WandaVision was filmed like an actual sitcom, in front of a live studio audience. The audience had to sign very strict NDAs to keep them from leaking spoilers about the show. Star Elizabeth Olsen told Entertainment Weekly quote “It was insanity,” “There was something very meta for my own life because I would visit those tapings as a kid, where my sisters were working [on Full House].”

Paul Bettany added quote “We were all so high by the end of it, we wanted to keep on running the show,” “Maybe take it out on tour or something. WandaVision on ice.”

Disney Plus By the Way just passed it’s first anniversary with nearly 74 million subscribers.

Marvel has laid off publisher John Nee, according to sources telling The Hollywood Reporter. Nee joined the house of ideas in January 2018 taking over for Dan Buckley after he was promoted to president of Marvel Entertainment. Before this Nee had worked for DC and co-founded and ran gaming company Cryptozoic Entertainment. When asked for comments, Marvel did not respond.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have reignited their feud, this time for a good cause. In this case, it’s a sales contest. From November tenth to December twentieth, anyone will have the ability to purchase Aviation Gin or Laughing Man coffee at Sam’s Club locations in the US. Each purchase will count as a vote for either star, Aviation for Team Ryan and Laughing Man for Team Hugh. You can also vote online as well https://samsclub.promo.eprize.com/thefeud/

The estate of Marvel artist John Busecema has been robbed. According to the late artist’s daughter, Dianne Buscema-Gerogianis reported pieces of comic art stolen. The 45 pieces range from an original Mephisto to original art from Just Imagine Stan Lee Creating Superman. In a post on facebook she wrote qutoe “I am reaching out to you all as 45 pieces of Dad’s original artwork was stolen from our family this morning,” “I cannot go into detail as the police and authorities have been notified. I am asking to please contact me if you hear or see anything for sale. I cannot post photos of everything that has been taken, but I am posting some.” John Buscema passed away in 2002 and was really big in Marvel back in the sixties and seventies.

DC Comics has named Marie Javins as the new Editor in Chief. IN a statement DC Senior Vice President and General Manager Daniel Cherry III said quote “Marie intrinsically understands the power of comics and their unique ability to entertain and empower, which makes her a perfect choice to be DC’s next Editor-in-Chief, “In addition to her many creative talents, she’s also incredibly committed to increasing access to this amazing industry by mentoring the next generation of comic book creators and helping them find their voices. I look forward to working with her in her new role.” She will now be the sole EIC, Marie and Michelle Wells were named co-editors in chief in August after the departure of Bob Harras and the restructuring caused by parent company AT&T. Javins will spearhead the company’s publishing schedule with an eye on growing imprints and expanding the brands reach worldwide, as well as providing editorial and creative guidance.

The Batman’s Robert Pattinson is trying to make his own version of Batman. IN an interview with Vanity Fair France Patinson said quote “To start, The Batman, I’m using things at the moment that seem fragile compared to the importance of the project,” Pattinson told Vanity Fair France (h/t Battinsonverse on IG for the translation). “Conversations I’ve had with close friends, embryos of dreams. This is the secret and sensitive part of the actor facing the heaviness of the project… On The Batman, on Tenet, a gigantic team of technicians surrounds you and when you say, ‘Let’s go Robert…Action!’ You have to forget this mass of people and play in front of your own thoughts, your own demons. “Yes, I have an actor’s excitement to face the tension of the set, the inordinate expectation of all these people and to transform it into a dialogue between me and myself. It’s an exciting and horrible feeling to be that ‘little shit’ who risks planting all the heavy artillery, all that war infrastructure, because she wasn’t able to go and get it… I think about that, a few days before a shoot.” “I look first at the character and what I have to do with it, how I’m going to have to invent nuances in this shell, making it more complex, more complex all the time,” Pattinson said. “Batman is a role in which I have to learn how to play ambiguity better. It’s out of the question to interpret a character of a single color. It’s beautiful, people who seem to live in two states at the same time.” unquote The Batman is due in theaters on March fourth, 2022.

Superman and Lois is set to debut on the CW in February and series star Elizabeth Tulloch has been giving regular updates and teases on social media. Lately, she’s promised to keep plenty of purple in Loi’s wardrobe, afer fans told her that Lois wore lots of purple. Saying quote “I just want everyone who said that they want to see Lois in a lot of purple to know that I heard you loud and clear,” “There’ll be a lot of purple.” unquote The series revolves around Lois and Clark as they deal with the stress, pressures and complexities that come from being working parents in today’s society.

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad has added one more to the roster, Sylvester Satallone. Sly’s involvement was part of an instagram post of Funn and Stallone with the caption quote Always love working with my friend @officialslystallone & our work today on #THESUICIDESQUAD was no exception. Despite Sly being an iconic movie star, most people still don’t have any idea what an amazing actor this guy is. Unquote

Speaking of The Squad, The Peacemaker spinoff series with John Cena has a working title. According to The Ronin, it’s going under the name The Scriptures. The site also says that the show will film from JAnuary eighteenth to June eighteenth. This jives with a recent tweet from James Gunn saying that shooting would begin after a two week quarantine. The spinoff series is planned for HBO Max with James Gunn writing all eight episodes and directing some of them.

The election here in the US is over, despite what the current occupant of the White House says and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the winners. Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carter celebrated the win on social media by noting the date that the win was finally announced was a very special date for her in another way, she tweeted quote “On this day 45 years ago, I appeared on television as Wonder Woman for the very first time. I am honored to be a part of this legacy and everything that it represents, and so thrilled to celebrate the power of women on such an auspicious day!” unquote the Wonder Woman series ran for three seasons between 1975 and 1979, one season on ABC and two on CBS.

A throwaway joke from the first season of Rick and Morty is getting realized. Lego has announced thier biggest Lego kit yet. The Roman Colosseum, this set has a total of nine thousand thirty six pieces that fit together to recreate the world famous concrete structure. Geoff Johns will be creating a new comic at Image Comics with artist Gary Frank. The comic called Geiger takes place on a post apocalyptic Earth. Here’s the synopsis quote “Who are the scavengers of a dying earth? Geiger is set in the years since a nuclear war ravaged the planet, desperate outlaws battle for survival in a world of radioactive chaos. Out past the poisoned wasteland lives a man even the Nightcrawlers and Organ People fear. Some name him Joe Glow, others call him The Meltdown Man. But his name…is Geiger.” Geiger number one will be out in april.

Netflix is gonna try something new, a programmed channel, ya know, like network tv. I know, novel concept right. Netflix started testing the concept in France with a handful of users and then will release it to the rest of France. No word on if they’ll try it in the US or other countries.

The People’s choice awards happened and there were a few genre winners, Mulan won Action Movie of the Year, Disney’s Onward won Family Movie, Riverdale won Drama Show, Cole Sprouse from Riverdale won Male tv star or 2020, and Wynonna Earp got Sci-Fi Fantasy Show.

The Venture Bros might have found a new home, av club dot com reports that a tweet from HBO MAx head Andy Forssell might be the answer Venture fans have been waiting for. The house from the show Full House has sold for Five point Three Million Dollars. The Victorian style home located at 1709 Broderick in the Postcard Row neighborhood of San Francisco has been listed on the market since May 2019 for six million dollars, the price ws cut to five and a half million this past February.

Remember the movie Bloodshot that opened just as movie theaters worldwide shut down? Yeah, probably not. After theaters shut down, it quickly went to Video on Demand release, now Vailent’s parent company DMG has confirmed plans for a sequel with Vin Diesel reprising the role.

DMG Entertainment Creative Head and Filmmaker Dan Mintz told CBR dot com quote “I think [Bloodshot] was very successful in that respect, a lot of people saw it and it did very well in the post-release rollout but you can’t use the same evaluation process, pre-COVID, to this,” Mintz told CBR. “[Are] Vin Diesel and all those people going to still continue? Yes, because it did so well and the response to it has been so well, it’s just that the response has been in a non-transparent environment, as opposed to a transparent environment like box office numbers.” unquote No concrete details about a new Bloodshot movie has surfaced.

The other half of Scooby Doo’s creators, Ken Spears has passed away. According to Spear’ sson, Kevin his dad died from complications related to Lewy Body Dementia, a degenerative condition similar to Alzheimer’s disease.

Ken was born Charles Kenneth Spears on March twelfth, 1938. He grew up in LA where he befriended the son of William Hanna, in 1959, he was hired at Hanna Barbera Productions. While working in the editing department he met Joe Ruby and began a writing partnership. Spears and Ruby would create such memorable shows as “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!” “Dynomutt,” “Dog Wonder” and “Jabberjaw” for Hanna-Barbera and The Barkleys and The Houndcats for Depatie-Freleng. They would then be hired to supervise CBS’ Saturday morning cartoon lineup and later ABC’s. Spears also was a story consultant for the 1974 Plant of the Apes cartoon series. In 77, Spears and Ruby created their own Ruby Spears Productions where they produced shows like Superman,” “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Fangface,” “Mister T,” “The Plastic Man Comedy-Adventure Hour,” “Thundarr the Barbarian” and “Saturday Supercade.” In 1981, they sold the company to the parent company of Hanna Barbera. Joe Ruby died back on August twenty-seventh of this year at the age of 87 In a statement Kevin said quote “Ken will forever be remembered for his wit, his story-telling, his loyalty to family, and his strong work ethic,” Kevin Spears says. “Ken has not only made a lasting impression on his family, but he has touched the lives of many as co-creator of ‘Scooby-Doo.’ Ken has been a role model for us throughout his life and he will continue to live on in our hearts.” unquote Ken Spears passed away at the age of 82, he is survived by his sons Kevin and Chris,their wives and his five granchildren and three great grandchildren.

Show Notes Episode 101: Gonzo Goes to Court

Tonight! Green Lantern plans to go big on HBO Max, What is the plural of Cyclops?, and Seth McFarlane and Danny McBride are Eastbound and Down, loaded up and trucking, They gonna do what they say can’t be done on Multiverse Tonight!

The Batman is filming in the United Kingdom until February next year giving it just over a year to work on post production before it’s March forth 2022 release date. The film most recently had to halt production lead Robert Pattinson, tested positive for Covid, he has since then recovered.

HBO Max’s Green Lantern series will be written like a tv show, but have feature film level production values according to producer Marc Guggenheim. Mr. Guggenheim commented on the series during a panel that had been recorded for ComiCon Internationals website and released as part of the Storytelling Across Media mini conference. Marc said quote “I happen to believe — and this is not a universally-held opinion — that you can’t do a ten-hour show or an eight-episode show, like an 8-hour movie,” Guggenheim said. “I don’t think that works. When I see it done, there’s always some flabby episodes in the middle. I think you have to approach it like a TV series and approach each episode like its own entity. Even though it’s streaming, even though hopefully people will binge it, you’ve got to make each episode a satisfying meal. You’ve got to look at it with a different tempo than you would have in a two-hour movie. That being said, certainly the show for HBO Max that we’re all working on, we are approaching it with the production ambitions of a movie. So we’re writing it like a TV show but we’re hoping to produce it like a film.”

In an exclusive to the Hollywood Reporter, it’s been made known that Jared Leto will be reprising the Joker for The Snyder cut of Justice League. Shooting of new materia

l for the movie is currently underway with Ben Afleck, Ray Fisher, Amber Heard and Jared Leto . Also joining the reshoots is Joe Manganiello, who will reprise Deathstroke for the film. Deathstroke first appeared in the 2017 cut of the movie as a post credit scene with Lex Luthor.

Suicide Squad sirecgtor David Ayer in response to a fan question about What was the toughest scene to leave on the cutting room floor said qutoe The first forty minutes unquote He went on to say that the movie was quote It was ripped to pieces – I can’t emphasize that enough unquote The call for Warner Bros to make an Ayers cutt of Suicide Squad has been getting a lot of push recently even by Cedric The Entertainer who in a recent Cameo said qutoe “HBO Max, AT&T, listen, y’all gotta release the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad,” “It’s time. The Ayer Cut, man, we’re all waiting for it. You know what I mean? That’s the one. And everybody, you all know this, when we do this all the proceeds will go to charity. We want y’all to ask for it. Hit em up! And then, bring back Jared Leto as the Joker, and do the Harley Quinn/Joker movie. That’s necessary! Quit playing, The Ayer Cut! Let’s get it! Let’s go. I want to see it, I know you want to see it. Suicide Squad gang, let’s go baby!” unquote

The new Superman series, Superman & Lois has recruited Degrassi The Next Generation star Stacey Faber to play a new character named Leslie Larr. Her character description reads quote “the right hand to one of the most influential people on the planet, she’s gone from a young, idealistic dreamer to a hardened, world-worn dream killer. Athletic, strong… and oftentimes heartless.”

Y The Last Man is finally getting in front of cameras, FX on Hulu has announced the start of production. Unquote Doom Patrol has been renewed for a third season on HBO Max, probably next year.

TV’s new Batwoman Ryan Wilder will not only debut on tv, but will also debut in the final issue of the Batwoman comic. The issue which will hit shops on October twenty seventh. A few preview pages show Ryan living out of a van and disillusioned with the system. It’s not apparent how the comics version of Ryan Wilder will be to the CW version. Season two is expected in January.

Neil Gaiman has been teasing fans on the production of Netflix’s adaptation of Sandman. Speaking with Yahoo Gaiman said on watching the first footage from the show quote “I’ve been watching dailies, but nothing produced the profound, emotional reaction on me that watching a camera test of our Morpheus in his glass prison did. I saw him and said, ‘Oh, this is Sandman.” unquote he also tased some of the stories that would be in season one including 24 hours, Dream a Little Dream of Me, A hope in Hell and Collectors, he also promised that the show would be scary quote “It will be scary,” “But it will be lots of other things, too, because the joy of Sandman is that it’s a lot of different things in the soup, and you can taste all the flavors.” unquote no official release date for the series has been announced, but it seems to be aimed at late 2021, early 2022.

Marvel

The new Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali is moving toward the writing stage. The Hollywood reporter reports that Marvel is looking for writers saying quote “Current projects that studios are hoping to populate with Black behind-the-camera talent include Marvel’s Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali, which is looking for writers,” unquote The current wisdom is that Blade will be aimed at the October of 2022, but in this time of CoVid, that is subject to change. Hopefully they can get Wesley Snipes in for a cameo.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie says that shooting during a pandemic is kinda hard. The series was in the middle of shooting when the pandemic hit, now six months later their back filming in the Czech Republic with health and safety protocols in place. Mackie told Entertainment Weekly quote “Everybody’s very afraid of each other. The food is bad because they have to pack it up somewhere else and bring it to us in Ziploc bags. Yeah, it’s awful,” “You’re literally living in quarantine. It’s not like the NBA bubble where they had a barbershop and friends to hang out with.”

“No, if you get within six feet of somebody, there’s some little Czech dude coming and poking you with a stick saying, ‘You have to move,'” “So it’s rough.” unquote The short six episode series was originally going to be the first Marvel Studios series out of the gate, but not Wand Vision Will be. The show will be out in early 2021.

Shang-Chi and The Legend of the ten Rings has wrapped up principal photography in Australia. Filmmaker Destin Creeton celebrated the fack with an Instagram photo. And the words We. Are. Wrapped. Not to be out down star Simu Liu followed up with a post of his own of him and Creeton saying quote “We made a baby!” “We can’t wait to introduce him to the world in 9 months…” unquote The Marvel movie is due out on July ninth, 2021.

Some big news concerning the Moon Knight series, first it was reported that Star Wars star Oscar Isaac was in talks to play the role of Moon Knight/Marc Spector and now it’s being reported that Mohamed Diab has been tapped to direct the series. Diab’s work includes the 2016 Cannes Film Festival’s Clash and Cairo 678 Both are the highest grossing Eqyptian and Arabic titles of all time No official announcement on either Oscar Isaac or Mohamed Diab has been forthcoming.

The Merriam Webster Dictionary is stepping in to help your grammar, specifically how do you say the plural of Cyclops . Here’s their post quote “Unlike most rules of pluralization, the plural of Cyclops is Cyclopes. Instead of adding es to Cyclops, the plural is adapted from the Latin based singular Ciclope or Cyclope, and thus the plural became Cyclopes.”

“With that grammar laid out, the plural of Cyclops, which is a proper noun ending in -s that denotes a mythical giant creature, should be either Cyclopses or Cyclops—but usage evidence doesn’t concur. The most common plural form of Cyclops (which is now frequently found in lowercase) is Cyclopes (pronounced \sye-KLOH-peez\).” unquote So there you have it, you now know what to call a bunch of different versions of Cyclops that show up in an X-Man crossover.

Ryah Reynolds picked a hell of a year to get to vote for the first time in America. Ryan and his wife Blake Lively showed off with smiles and a photo of Instagram with the caption quote This is my first time voting in America. I’d like to thank my wife Blake for making my first time so gentle and loving. It was super scary at first, than exciting and now I’m a little tired. But proud. #VoteEarly unquote His new movie Free Guy is due in theaters on December eleventh.

The Willow sequel series has been officially given the greenlight. The series will have Willow director Ron Howard as executive producer with Warwick Davis back as hero Willow Ufgood. Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu has been tapped to direct the pilot and executive produce. Jonathan Kasdan and Wendy Mericle will serve as show runners.

Quibi the short form video series provider is shutting down. The startup raised two billion in initial funding but never found an audience. The service launched in April just in time for the pandemic and never really got out of the blocks, even though the app had been downloaded about 9.6 million times since launch, Quibi founders Meg Whitman and Jeffery Katzenberg in a statement said quote Because the idea itself wasn’t strong enough to justify a stand-alone streaming service or because of our timing. Unfortunately, we will never know, but we suspect it’s been a combination of the two.”unquote

FXX’s series Archer has been given a twelfth season. This news arrives before the last episode of the eleventh season. FX president of Original Programming Nick Grad said quote”Archer is back in a big way this season, with viewership up as the Emmy Award-winning spy series returns to its roots and begins to plot a 12th season next year,” “Our thanks to [executive producers] Adam Reed, Matt Thompson, Casey Willis and the entire team at Floyd County Productions for keeping Archer as fun as ever and true to form. Together with its unbelievable voice cast, Archer is set to give fans another great season.” unquote Viewership for the first five episodes of the season were up 32 percent over season ten.

Seth McFarlane and Danny McBride are bringing tv a Burt Renyolds movie from the seventies. Smokey And The Bandit will come from the writing team of David Gordon Green and Brian Brandon James of Rough House Pictures with Danny McBridge, Jody Hill, and Seth McFarlane, and Erica Huggins of Fuzzy Door teaming up to bring this show to life. No network has been named.

Muppet Babies are going to court. Disney is being sued by Jeffrey Scott, a tv screenwriter of many eighties shows. He alleges that the new Muppet Babies show was created by Disney misappropriates elements from the original Muppet Babies production bible he created and he says he owns.

According to the complaint filed in California Federal Court. Back in 1983, Muppet Babies, which was produced by Marvel Productions and The Jim Henson Company contracted Mister Scott ro to help with the creation of the show, he got twelve thousand per scrip plus a royalty of $3500 for each new episode plaus a Developed for television by credit. The complaint reads quote

“Scott is the registered owner of the copyright in the Muppet Babies production bible,” states the complaint. “The Muppet Babies Production Bible created the show’s nursery setting, the child versions of the characters, the mix of entertainment and education, and the blueprint for its stories. Scott created, developed and refined character traits, running gags associated with each character, and the characters’ relationships with each other.” unquote Scott also claims that the character of Nanny was his creation and the setting of the nursery too. Scott is claiming copyright infringement, breach of contract (stemming from his ’80s deal), breach of implied contract (arising from the alleged agreement for compensation for his recent idea submissions), and fraud. Rick and Morty co creator Dan Harmon speaking at the digital version of the PaleyFest said that the Clone Beth mystery will play a major role in season five. He said quote You know as much as Rick knows,” “I don’t want to keep secrets with the audience. She’s Schrodinger’s Beth right now. The fact she may or may not be a clone is actually the important thing. It’s the profound revelation about Rick’s commitment to non-commitment and how abusive that can be as a parent. That is the important thing here. We’re adding aunts to the family. We’re having fun looking at more options with space Beth.” unquote It also looks like The Vat of Acid episode has broken Morty of his obsession with Jessica, he said quote “There’s an episode in Season 5 where Morty has a relationship with another female character that’s not Jessica. It’s a great little story and my longtime friend and collaborator John Schrab wrote it. [Schrab] has a natural directorial instinct. He also is a tender writer, like a very juvenile John Hughes. He feels heartache on a level that a man his age shouldn’t. There’s an episode in Season 5 that my Emmy is going to,” unquote

Paramount has moved the animated movie Rumble from January nineteenth to May 14, 2021. THe movie, from Paramount Animation and WWE Studios is based on the graphic novel by Rob Harrel, is set in a world where monster wrestling is a global sport and monsters are superstar athletes. The movie features the voice talents of Geraldine Viswanathan, Will Arnett,

Terry Crews , WWEsuperstars Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns Tony Danza, Stephen A. Smith, Jimmy Tatro, Ben Schwartz and Michael Buffer.

The Strange Talent of Luther Strode is getting a big screen adaptation. The movie is based on the Image comics comic book series from Justin Jordan and Tradd moore. THe movie will be produced by Allnighter’s Dinesh Shamdasani, Hunter Gorinson and Amanda Kruse. Justin Jordan is currently working on the screenplay. In the press release Justin said quote “Luther Strode remains one of my very favorite things I’ve ever worked on and getting the chance to bring it to a new audience as a film is exciting beyond belief,” said Justin Jordan. “Especially since Allnighter is dedicated to staying true to all of the foundations – from the tone to the mythology, and, of course, the kinetic action exemplified by Tradd’s artwork – that people have loved about the comic.” unquote

HBO Man and Cartoon Network are reviving Tiny Toon Adventures for the streaming service. Steven Speilberg will executive produce Tiny Toons Looniversity, the show will follow the characters minus Elmyra Duff, as they go to Acme Looniversity (in other words, the same stuff they did in the original show. Amblin TV’s Co Presidents Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank said about the reboot quote “These smart, hilarious and cheeky characters have left an indelible impression on the childhoods of so many. We’re thrilled to be able to continue our relationship with Warner Bros. Animation, HBO Max and Cartoon Network to reimagine the Tiny Toons for new audiences, and we know that fans of the original series will be just as excited to share the show with their children as they will be to revisit a childhood favorite.” unquoteThe reason for Elmyra being left out is not known, the word that she was being left out was broken my Elmyra original voice actor Cree Williams,she tweeted quote “I just got the word that ELMYRA will NOT be included in the Tiny Toons reboot.” unquote There are several possible reasons for her exclusion, perhaps it’s because her rights are tied up with Pinky and The Brain or the fact that her character is associated with Elmer Fudd. Who knows.

Sony is in talks to buy Anime streaming service Crunchyroll rom WarnerMedia, Sony reportedly will spend 957 million dollars for the service, that’s hundreds of millions more than they paid for Funimation in 2017. This deal would give Sony a near streaming monopoly over Anime. Cruncyroll has around 70 million subscribers worldwide.

Bette Midler says that she, Sarah Jessica Parker adn Kathy Najimy will be reprising their roles for the Hocus Pocus sequel that Disney has been working on. Bette told Fox 5 New York that quote “They want to make a movie, they’ve asked us if we were interested and of course all of us said yes,””I’m game, I’m totally game.” unquote There hasn’t been any official word about casting or story details. But with everything that’s been going on this year, that’s to be expected.

Star Wars

Lucasfilm Publishing Executive Editor Jennifer Heddle unveiled on Star Wars dot com a few of the Padawans that will be seen in The High Republic books and more that are coming next year. Included were Burryaga AgaBurry, a Wookie described by writer Charles Soule as quote “While he is skilled with his two-handed lightsaber, it is Burryaga’s natural, effortless ability to sense the emotions of others that sets him apart from other members of the Order.” unquote. Reath Silas, padawan to Jedi Council member Jora Malli, Lula Talisola described by Daniel Jose Older the writer for IDW’s The High Republic Adventures as quote “all about the Jedi Order.” “She loves it, can hardly wait to get Knighted, and wants to be the best Jedi that ever was. Besides being amazing and top of her class with a lightsaber, she’s loyal and compassionate and looks out for her two best friends, Farzala and Qort. Especially when they’re causing mischief.” unquote and Bell Zettifar, who is stationed on the Jedi Outpost of Elphrona in the Outer Rim with Jedi Master Loden Greatstorm. The High Republic kicks off on January fifth with Star Wars: The High Republic — Light of the Jedi, by Charles Soule.

Star Wars attraction, the Galaxy’s Edge is going through rough times as the cast members in the park are being laid off due to the pandemic’s effects on park attendance. Layoffs are based on seniority and unfortunately, those that transferred from Disneyland’s California Adventure to the Galaxy’s Edge are some of the first to get the layoff notices.

Gamestop may have “accidentally” leaked the release date for Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga. The game which will be released for PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. was originally going to be released this year, but was delayed. Gamestop’s website lists the date as May 31, 2021. However, that date might just be a placeholder since it’s odd for a game to be released on a Monday.

Speaking of accidental leaks, News of a new Star Wars action game from EA Motive has leaked out, there’s scant details about it other than the studio, the leak came from a listing from EA Motive for a programmer, it mentioned that quote “the team is starting immediately on an upcoming Star Wars action game and will also be building original IP.” unquote

Star Trek

Star Trek Prodigy will have music from Nami Melumad according to Film Music Reporter. Nami previously scored the Short Trek episode Q&A. She will have the honor of scoring new moments with a known starship captain, as also joining the show is Kate Mulgrew as Captain Kathryn Janeway and at a Q&A for our next story, she revealed what brought her back to Trek quote “Well, frankly, the negotiations took quite a long time,” Mulgrew said. “When Alex Kurtzman presented me with this idea, I wasn’t entirely sure, and then over the months, the conversation evolved into what we could bring to an entirely new demographic of watchers. I thought the idea of bringing this to young minds was just too exciting, too evocative, and too promising.” unquote

She answered during a Q&A for the unveiling of the Captain Kathryn Janeway statue in the Captain’s future hometown of Bloomington, Indiana. Kate Mulgrew attended the unveiling virtually of course and Robert Picardo sent a video. The Statue is of the character from the waste up atop a pedestal that says “Future Birthplace of Captain Kathryn Janeway, Bloomington, Indiana, Earth May 20, 2336.” Ms. Mulgrew said about the honor quote I’m not often rendered speechless, but in this moment I am. How many people have such a marvelous thing done in their honor, in their memory. It’s a wonderful comment on Janeway’s legacy… And hearing you all speak today is deeply moving to me. To realize that Janeway has had such an important role in your lives, and I think in cultural history, it not only terribly affecting for me, but makes me want to go forth in a new way. And I am doing that with Prodigy. But this recognition is something extraordinary to me and I am deeply proud to be honored in this way. Unquote The statue is on the B-Line Trail next to the Wonderlab Museum in Downtown Bloomington.

A new Star Trek Picard novel will give us some backstory on what happened on the Titan after the attack on Mars that eventually saw Picard forced into retirement. Star Trek Picard The Dark Veil will be written by James Swallow. Here’s the synopsis quote “The Alpha Quadrant is mired in crisis. Within the United Federation of Planets, a terrorist strike on the shipyards of Mars has led to the shutdown of all relief efforts for millions of Romulans facing certain doom from an impending supernova. But when the USS Titan is drawn into a catastrophic incident on the Romulan-Federation border, Captain William Riker, his family, and his crew find themselves caught between the shocking secrets of an enigmatic alien species and the deadly agenda of a ruthless Tal Shiar operative. This piece of news goes out to my European listeners, The British Royal Mail announced that they will issue a twelve stamp collection of stamps celebrating Star Trek. The stamps, with art by artist Freya Betts depict Captain James T. Kirk, Spock, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Commander Deanna Troi, Captain Benjamin Sisko, Doctor Julian Bashir, Captain Kathryn Janeway, Captain Jonathan Archer, Lieutenant Malcolm Reed, Captain Gabriel Lorca, Lieutenant Ash Tyler, and Commander Michael Burnham. There will also be an additional short sheet of six stamps with characters played by British and British Commonwealth actors Those characters are Montgomery Scott, Shinzon, Tolian Soran, Klingon Chancellor Gorkon, Carol Marcus, and Krall.

Amazon has announced that November is Star Trek Month on the shopping site, on sale will be Star Trek: Discovery: Season One (Blu-ray™, DVD) – The collection includes all 15 episodes from the first season of the CBS All Access original series, along with a trove of compelling featurettes and additional special features. 00:54 Thomas Townley: Yeah. Unfortunately, I haven’t had to quarantine. I’m an essential worker at Walmart.

01:00 TC: Oh god, yeah, okay. So you’ve been in, huh?

01:04 Thomas Townley: Yes. Yeah, the protocol to get into my work is busy; I gotta go in and have temperature check, I answer questions. I mean, it’s dangerous.

01:17 TC: Reduced capacity in the whole thing or…

01:20 Thomas Townley: We were going at reduced capacity for a while. It was… They reduced the store to, I think, a third, which is like 600 people can be in at once. We never have 600 people.

01:51 TC: Aside from the world [chuckle] quasi coming to an end, you know? No, I won’t make jokes. I mean, I’m just… Everyone on my end is healthy, and just trying to live in this new homeschooling, Zooming, not being at… Not having normalcy, kind of thing. So…

02:13 Thomas Townley: Well, that’s good. You’ve been away from fires this year? Because last year you had fires around.

02:20 TC: Oh, yes. I forgot about that. I actually… Did we interview when it was like literally on fire?

02:27 Thomas Townley: Yeah.

02:28 TC: I’m trying to remember that. Yeah, no. It just smells like smoke outside all the time but I’ve had friends who’ve had to evacuate, and the AQI’s an average of 50 points higher this year every day. [chuckle] Sunny California. [chuckle]

02:44 Thomas Townley: Yeah. Alright. Well, I know there’s not much you can tell me about The Orville, is there anything? Just a little hint? Nothing?

02:56 TC: Blessed, the thing I can say is, I think, hopefully, things will be back on track very soon.

03:33 TC: What have I been watching; you mean in terms of sci-fi as of late?

03:38 Thomas Townley: Yeah. Sci-fi, you know, geeky things.

03:41 TC: Well, it’s funny ’cause I’ve sort of been taking a little break from sci-fi, I still obviously have to watch The Mandalorian season two. What have I… I sat down and watched all of Rogue One the other day, just out of nowhere, it just was on and so I did that. But I’ve been doing things like I watched The Vow, [chuckle] which is about the NXIVM cult. I’m late to the game but the show Alone, the survival. I don’t know, there’s like a cult survival theme going on but I watched that as well. I have to catch up on Lost In Space, ’cause I have been dying to check that out. But yeah, there hasn’t been too much of sci-fi. I mean honestly, I end up watching old clips of Wrath of Kahn on the YouTube and sorta… Yeah, I go to the comfort food right away. You know, there’s been some T&G on BBC that I’ve… That’s on and suddenly I’m watching whole episode. That’s kinda where I’m at.

04:40 Thomas Townley: Have you been watching any of the new Star Trek shows lately?

04:43 TC: Oh, I have watched a little bit. I have to catch up with the new Discovery season. I finally watched Picard, obviously, I loved it. It’s hard for me because as a person making space TV, I have feelings, and as a strict fan, I can’t just… I don’t feel like I have the privilege to just love or dump something. It’s a whole different experience for me. But no, I will watch it eventually. But I mean I was just like, Picard finished and then two months later I watched. It’s just the way my life runs. But obviously, it was great. I’m very much for comfort food, so the best part of Picard was obviously seeing Frakes and [05:21] ____ show up with… That’s the kind of stuff that just gets me going, and Jeri Ryan and all that stuff.

05:31 Thomas Townley: So if CBS and Viacom showed up at your door and said pitch me a new star Trek show, do you have any idea what you would wanna pitch?

05:40 TC: Oh my god, that’s a good question. What would I want to pitch? I would go call Michael Dorn and he’d be like, “Who the hell are you?” And I would do the Worf series. I would watch that all day long. I don’t need to make up… I would do a Worf series and I would do anything… You know, you know, obviously seeing Jane way back, I would love to… I’d watch her read the phone book. So those would be the two. I would need to think about if I wanted to do something original original, but yeah, I would be very much into the Worf series.

06:15 TC: I just think that that’s a lot of mileage and obviously, you know, George Takei too. You know, I would’ve loved the Sulu series; that would have been the other one. Oh, I will say, randomly I went down a deep rabbit hole about, I can’t remember the name of the episode from Voyager where they had to re-shoot… They redid the whole Praxis explosion. I went down that rabbit hole for a while, you know, and comparing the shots and doing that. Like, that’s what I do, I look like side by side comparisons. Like I end up watching old… For no reason, I’ll watch the old V effects, you know, comparison from the original series one to the updated ones that [06:50] ____ and those gang did. That’s how I spend my time. It’s pathetic. [chuckle]

06:55 Thomas Townley: Well, on totally a different topic but dealing with the character of Worf, who would win a fight between Bortus and Worf?

07:08 TC: With weapons or without?

07:11 Thomas Townley: Let’s go without.

07:14 TC: I think Bortus, ’cause Moclans are very strong and Peter is a real big guy. If there was a bat’leth or guns, I mean Peter’s got good aim but Worf with a sword I would be scared of. That would be my… You couldn’t just run the table.

07:33 Thomas Townley: Yeah, I see your point there. Now, speaking of other sci-fi’s, The Mandalorian has those virtual sets. What could you use those virtual sets for?

07:45 TC: Well, we did, actually. We had it for our view screen in Season 1. As a matter of fact, it was Jon, I believe, who had the idea along with another producer, Jason Clark, and it wasn’t because we… It locked us in too early. We ended up going to green screen because we had more flexibility but basically, our huge view screen was basically The Mandalorian [08:10] ____, and obviously The Mandalorian expanded, it’s more 360. So if we were to have it back, I’m sure there’s a couple of planets, it’d be great for the simulator room, but we… A lot of ours takes place in the ship, we’re a fundamentally different show, we go to planets sometimes, and we usually find a location. So it’s a different methodology, but we experience it. I mean, the way they’ve used it is great, obviously, and… The other time I ever thought that that worked was like in, once again, Rogue One where they used it for the cockpit stuff. But yeah, that’s what I would say. I would probably use it for the simulator room if we could.

08:55 Thomas Townley: I would love to see that. And you know, they’re Disney or…

08:58 TC: Yeah, it’s super… They’re bright as hell. They have their issues, this is a lot of technical, but you end up there’s a lot of tears and a lot of technical issues with them. They’re really great for interactive lighting and landscapes. As a view screen, having finished battle shots, it was not always practical.

09:23 Thomas Townley: When you’re watching shows like The Mandalorian, do you think about, “Ooh, how did they do that?” Or…

09:29 TC: Yes, yes, all the time, and sometimes I know how they did it ’cause we’re doing what they’re doing. Yeah, yes, but I’m always… Yeah. It’s always fun to see what other people are coming up with but then sometimes I just get stressed out. [laughter] Yeah, it just reminds me of not sleeping and working a hundred hours a week. [chuckle] But yeah, no, there’s some pretty… Not just The Mandalorian, I mean they do some great stuff, but even on some great things on Discovery, and you know even like, I’m a big fan of shows that you need to do the real hidden visual effects. Set extensions and creating worlds that they did through virtual production versus going out and shooting it. That stuff gets me too.

10:17 Thomas Townley: Yeah. Now with… I was thinking the other day, with shows having smaller and smaller episode counts per season…

10:24 TC: Yeah.

10:25 Thomas Townley: Is 100 episodes really an achievable milestone for most shows anymore?

10:33 TC: No. Yes, but you’re gonna have to think about your 10 or eight or 12 episodes, you gotta go seven, eight, nine, 10 seasons, and at a certain point… Everything’s at a quasi-feature level now, I mean the Marvel shows are feature level.

10:49 Thomas Townley: Mm-hmm.

10:50 TC: Everybody’s… There’s probably 25-30 shows of this scale and magnitude. It’s… I know people complain about the 22-episode thing. We would literally die. [chuckle] It’s just too much. So I don’t know if it’s achievable. If you’re a comedy or something, maybe, but even like HBO, they run 13 eps. You can’t go… You start getting beyond six, seven seasons, it’s… You just run out of steam.

11:15 Thomas Townley: Yeah, if you look at shows like The Next Generation and all the… They had a lot of good shows but they had a lot of filler shows too to stretch out the season. So in other words…

11:27 TC: Less coverage, less effects, different methodology. They were great shows but the demand is now… Anything, everything gets scrutinized. Which is great ’cause it keeps you on your toes but it keeps you on your toes.

11:43 Thomas Townley: And here’s a thought. Should sci-fi shows have a message and a moral to them? ‘Cause some of the shows nowadays, it’s just kind of more action than anything else.

12:01 TC: I’m part of the optimistic sci-fi crowd. If I wanna go… I don’t like the two mixing. I like my Battlestar Galactica’s and I like my Star Treks. I like the optimistic, happy, fun stuff. And then when I wanna go dark, I wanna go dark. I have trouble mixing the two. But like I said, I’m very… I’m an old man, I’m very into old school. Do I think it needs to have a message? No. Does it help? Yeah, I think it’s add some layering storytelling to the complexity of it all. But not necessarily… Different strokes for different folks, I guess. [chuckle] You know what I mean? Different… I don’t bemoan somebody loving something that I don’t. There’s only a few things that I have true hatred for, which you can ask me another time, ’cause that’s a thing about it. But anyway, long story, I think that was a long answer, but I think a message helps but isn’t necessarily the key. Take Cobra Kai, for example. That show’s got heart and that’s why it works. It’s not just seeing the characters… If it was just all Johnny and Ralph Macchio fighting or stuff, it wouldn’t have it, but it’s all the heart that’s layered underneath. And I feel like your sci-fi needs that as well.

13:13 Thomas Townley: Now, thinking about crews and sci-fi and everything, who’d win in a battle between The Orville crew and The Next Generation crew?

13:22 TC: Oh my god, don’t make me answer that. [chuckle] I work for them. Orville’s scrappy but, you know, I don’t know, I think the Enterprise-D would probably cut right through the damn thing. [chuckle] I am a non-impartial. [chuckle] I can’t… Yeah. Although, Ed has been… Acquitted himself quite a good captain. So I actually… I don’t actually know. You know, funny enough, I don’t know the answer. Orville’s got some tricks up her sleeve but I can’t go against my Next Generation crew. You’re wounding me. [chuckle]

14:04 Thomas Townley: By the way, how does Seth have all this time? I mean, he just recently announced that he and Dan McBride are doing a revival of Smokey and the Bandit. He’s doing these jazz concerts on Instagram. The Orville. The animated shows. Is he human?

14:17 TC: I question that sometimes, I think he’s superhuman. No, he’s just smart… No, he’s a super-smart guy and likes to keep active. And, no, I know he loves the show, so obviously that’s one of his priorities, but he’s a man of… I always joke on Twitter, I said, multi-hyphenate, but he really is. I learn a lot from him every day, from a production standpoint. And he tends to think three or four moves ahead, and sometimes you can keep up with him and sometimes you’re arguing move number two but he’s actually at move number five, and then you catch up with him and go, “Oh, I see what you were doing there. That made complete sense. You were just way ahead of it.”

14:56 Thomas Townley: That’s cool. And finally, what are you looking forward to on the horizon? In 2021, what are you looking forward to?

15:06 TC: Going to a restaurant again, hopefully. [chuckle] The new normal. And hopefully finishing up production of season three of the show, so people can finally see it. But no, just a little more peace in the world and health for everybody; I can’t be trivial about that, it would be nice to be… It’s been a long road so far for everyone, I believe, on planet earth.

15:42 TC: Yeah. And we’re not even there. We’re still on the here.

Amazon has ordered a new SciFi Drama from Legendary television. Lightyears centers around a couple named Franklin and Irene York who years earlier discovered a chamber buried in their backyard which leads to a strange deserted planet. Since then they’ve guarded the secret until an enigmatic young man enters their lives, their life is upended and the mysterious chamber turns out to be much more than they could have possibly imagined. No word on when it’s expected on the service.

Actor Jeff Bridges has announced that he’s been diagnosed with lymphoma, which is the cancer of the lymphatic system. He posted on twitter quote “As the Dude would say… New sh– has come to light.”

“I have been diagnosed with lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good,” “I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.”“I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends. Ghostbusters Afterlife has been pushed back another three months to June eleventh, almost a year after it was originally supposed to be released this past July. The sequel to Don’t Breathe has been given a date of August thirteenth, 2021. The same date as twentieth century’s Deep Water starring Ben Affleck.

Spectrum Originals and AMC are producing a new series based on the Beacon 23 novel by Hugh Howey. The story, described as a suspenseful thriller slash love story is set in the farthest reaches of space and is about a couple trapped on a lighthouse at teh end of teh known univese. The show will be created, executive produced and showrun by Alphas showrunner and The Avengers co-writer Zak Penn along with Ira Steven Behr, Katie O’Connell Marsh and Elisa Ellis.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is recovering from surgery at the Cleveland Clinic to replace his aortic valve. The actor tweeted quote “Thanks to the team at the Cleveland Clinic, I have a new aortic valve to go along with my new pulmonary valve from my last surgery,” “I feel fantastic and have already been walking the streets of Cleveland enjoying yo when ur amazing statues. Thank you to every doc and nurse on my team!” unquote This isn’t his first heart surgery, he had a valve replaced in 1997 and emergency open heart surgery to replace that valve.

Sir Sean Connery has passed away in his sleep at this in Nassau in the Bahamas. He was born THomas Sean Connery in Edinburgh, Scotland on August twenty fifth, 1930. He left school at the age of 13 and delivered milk, polished coffins and laid bricks before joining the royal navy in 1946, He was discharged three years later because of a duodenal ulcer. He would then work as a lorry driver, lifeguard, artists model and in his spare time did bodybuilding, he could have played soccer for Manchester United, but he decided to go pursue acting instead. In 1953, while he was competing in the Mr Universe competition, he heard that South Pacific was looking for parts in the chorus, by the next year he landed the role of Lieutenant Buzz Adams, encouraged by American actor Robert Henderson, he educated himself on works by Ibsen, Shakespeare and Bernard Shaw and began taking elocution lessons. In 1957, he got his first leading role in Blood Money, a BBC reworking of Requiem for a Heavyweight. And then came the role that would make him famous world wide when producers Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, began searching for an actor to play the lead character in Ian Fleming’s novels, James Bond. It was Cubby’s wife Dana who persuaded her husband that Connery had the magnetism and sex appeal for the park. Ian Fleming on the other hand was not that impressed at first, however once he saw him on screen, the author made James Bond half scottish in some of the later novels. Sean would play the secret agent in a total of seven movies, Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds are Forever and Never Say Never again. However the role and pressure of that the role put onto him would eventually drive him to walk away, only to return once for for Never Say Never again, He would go on to do other movies like The Name of the Rose, Time Bandits, The Man Who Would Be King, Zardoz, Highlander, The Untouchables, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Hunt for Red October , The rock, Dragonheart, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, First Knight, The Avengers, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and more. He was even offered the role of Gandalf, but he declined claiming not to have understood the script.. He also turned down the role of the Architect in The Matrix for similar reasons. He moved to the Bahamas in the 1990’s and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth the Second in 2000, which had been held up by the Labour party because of his support of Scottish Independence. Sean Connery retired from acting in 2006. Over his career he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in The Untouchables, The British Academy Film Award for Best Actor for The Name of the Rose, as well as the BAFTA Fellowship, Two Golden Globe Awards one for Best Supporting Actor for The Untouchables and the World Film Favorite Male aka The Henrietta Award as Well as the Cecil B Demille Award. On top of being knighted by the Queen, he was made a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in France, The Kennedy Center Honors, The European Film Awards Lifetime Achievement Award and The AFI Life Achievement Award. He was married twice. The first time to actress Diane Cilento, they had one son, Jason Connery and his second and last marriage to Moroccan-French painter Micheline Roquebrune. The greatest James Bond, Sir Sean Connery passed away in his sleep, on Halloween, A life well lived, he was ninety years old.

Video Game Developer EA Motive is breaking the hearts of fans of Star Wars Squadrons, as they have announced that there will be no DLC or updates for the game and that it is being treated like a self contained product. Star Wars Squadrons Creative Director Ian Frazier told Upload VR quote “Never say never, so to speak, but as far as our philosophy goes we’re not trying to treat the game as a live service,” “We don’t want to say, ‘It’s almost done!’ and then dribble out more of it over time, which to be honest is how most games work these days. So we’ve tried to treat it in kind of an old-school approach saying, ‘You’ve paid the $40, this is the game and it’s entirely self-contained. We’re not planning to add more content, this is the game, and we hope you understand the value proposition.'” unquote The game is out now for PS4, Xbox One and PC and will be released later this year for PS4 and Xbox Series X.

Season Two of The Mandalorian kicks off at the end of this month, with new episodes released every friday with the finale on December eighteenth.

Ewan McGregor on The Graham Norton SHow told host Graham Norton that the Obi-Wan show will be getting in front of the camera in March of 2021, the star said quote “It’s the Obi-Wan Kenobi story, I suppose,”. “It’s not all (about) me. But it certainly will be a lot of me, which is good! We start shooting it in March of next year.” unquote. He also said that he will guide his portrayal by who he thinks Sir Alec Gunness would have played the role.

The Opening Crawl for the Star Wars The High Republic has been revealed. The story is set two hundred years before Episode One: The Phantom Menace and tells the story of the Jedi at the height of their peace in the Republic. The opening republic goes like this “The galaxy is at peace, ruled by the glorious REPUBLIC and protected by the noble and wise JEDI KNIGHTS.As a symbol of all that is good, the Republic is about to launch the STARLIGHT BEACON into the far reaches of the Outer Rim. This new space station will serve as a ray of hope for all to see.

But just as a magnificent renaissance spreads throughout the Republic, so does a frightening new adversary. Now the guardians of peace and justice must face a threat to themselves, the galaxy, and the Force itself….” unquote The first installment of the novels comes out on January fifth with Star Wars The High Republic Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule and Star Wars The High Republic A Test of Courage.

Actor Donald Glover recently confirmed that he and his wife Michelle White had their third daughter during the pandemic saying quote “You know, I had [a kid] during the coronavirus,” Glover shared during the conversation. “It was nuts. I was in the hospital bed. My son had just been born, like, an hour before and I was watching the George Floyd video. It was such a weird moment. It was such an intense, weird moment, because I’m watching that video and it’s like eight minutes long, so you’re sitting there and I had just had this amazing, joyful, expanding moment, plus my dad had passed away recently, so [my son] was named after my father… I don’t even know what, really, the word is to describe it. It was just expanding: the empathy and compassion and the terror and the joy of it.”

He added, “Having the future in your hands! And then having to explain to him – the one who was just in here [Legend] – ‘Why are people angry? Why are people marching?’ ‘Well, you look like this…’ It’s just heavy. Again, your show, you whittle down that kind of thing; you simplify what is happening to us. It’s really beautiful to see it, because you can’t really describe it. You can just feel it.” unquote He also said that his next child might be adopted. Quote “I’ve actually had that thing where I’m like, ‘Maybe I should just get a vasectomy and just freeze those assets,'” Glover detailed. “Because adopting kids, my family adopting kids … and we actually have been talking about [it], because we have three boys so I’m like, ‘Oh, it might be nice to get a girl in there.’ So I think all those are great options. Well no con in Las Vegas this year, Creation Entertainment posted this statement on their website, quote During this pandemic crisis, Creation Entertainment remains steadfast in keeping the health and safety of our attendees, celebrities and staff as our top priority. While we had hoped to present our Official Star Trek Convention on December 9-13, 2020, due to ongoing local, federal and international protocols, we are unable to do so.

We will be next returning again to our traditional time of year and will be back in Vegas on a new date: August 11-15, 2021 at the Rio All-Suites Resort Hotel and Casino, and its beautiful state-of-the-art convention center!

The year 2021 marks the 50th Anniversary of Creation Entertainment, the 55th Anniversary of Star Trek, the 20thAnniversary of our convention in Las Vegas and Gene Roddenberry’s 100th birthday year. It’s the perfect time to celebrate and no city is better than Las Vegas to do just that!

We are renaming the convention “Creation Entertainment Presents The 55-Year Mission Tour.” We’ll have over 100 celebrity guests as usual, multiple tracks of non-stop programming, contests, music, cosplay and surprises, plus partying galore. Well Lower Decks first season is done, and I loved it. So what will we see in Season two? At the New York Comic Con Virtual event a panel discussion with creator Mike McMahan and the cast, talked about season two. Mike said about season two quoteIt’s even bigger and it’s even funnier, and it’s still very Star Trek… We’re very proud and we are very careful. It is amazing to be part of Star Trek. And it is mind-blowing… We know that it is bigger than us and we have to be very careful with it. And we want it to be very funny good and very surprising. So we are working very hard to make something special for everybody. Unquote He also mentioned that Boimler will stay were he is at the beginning of the next season, for those who haven’t seen it, I won’t spoil where he ended up. He also mentioned that season two will have see new character matchups, like Mariner and Tendi.

While we’re on the subject of Star Trek animation, it was revealed in the NYCC Star Trek panel that Star Trek Prodigy will feature Kate Mulgrew reprising her role as Captain Kathryn Janeway. Prodigy, to refresh your memory is the Nickelodeon CG animated show that has a group of lawless teens finding an old abandoned Starfleet ship and going on a journey of adventure,meaning and salvation. The show is set to air on Nick in 2021. In a statement Ms. Mulgrew said quote “I have invested every scintilla of my being in Captain Janeway, and I can’t wait to endow her with nuance that I never did before in Star Trek: Prodigy,” “How thrilling to be able to introduce to these young minds an idea that has elevated the world for decades. To be at the helm again is going to be deeply gratifying in a new way for me.” unquote The show is aimed at a younger audience, than the other Star Trek shows.

Discovery showrunner Alex Kurtzman says that despite the show now being set 930 years into the future from where season two ended. The technology won’t seem magical. Quote We always want to come up with the coolest ideas and we usually try to come at them from a place of how does this play a part in our story. So usually the technology comes from a need that the story is telling us it wants to deliver. The temptation is you can do anything. The temptation is you can just say that anything is possible and the laws of physics don’t apply anymore. While the crew definitely go into a world where there’s a tremendous amount of technology that they’ve never seen before, it was also equally important for us to have it feel grounded. So some of the technology they find is actually the evolved versions of technologies they’re already familiar with. That keeps it grounded in the language of Star Trek. Unquote As to who is Captain at the beginning of the show, it was revealed at the NYCC Trek panel that it’s not a settled matter at the start of season three, Doug Jones, who plays Saru on the show said quote We don’t know right away… The captain’s chair is open and it’s a big question and that Burnham and Saru are both equally capable and qualified for it and both equally wanting the other one to have it. The other thing that remains when we get to the future, is the Federation intact? And is it in a place where they would assign a captain from the future or do we self-govern? All those questions remain into those first couple of episodes. Unquote

Star Trek Discovery has been renewed for Season Four at the soon to be Paramount Plus. And production on that season will resume the day before election day here in the US, November second.

Also revealed at NYCC was that we are apparently in a new golden age of Star Trek content that will last for at least the majority of this decade, he said quote Heather Kadin and Aaron Baiers, who work with me at Secret Hideout, we literally just got off a call before this with the network mapping out with us through 2027. When I say that, it’s not like it’s set in stone, it’s just “okay here’s a plan, here’s what we’re looking, here’s how the different shows are going to drop.” Consider that it takes a year from start of production to airing, so you have to plan way way in advance to get these things done and you have to stay on top of the zeitgeist and make sure what you’re doing is relevant. Unquote He also thinks that Discovery could go on for years, even past the seven year point saying quote I’m going to say in all honesty there are years and years left on Discovery. I think that because, first of all, you know Star Trek, in general, has a long history of going seven seasons minimum, and we just jumped into the future, and in a way, it’s not that it’s a brand new show, but it’s a whole new set of variables with a whole new set of ideas and stories. I don’t think we limit ourselves to thinking, “Oh we’re capped at this place.” I’ll tell you that when the show starts to feel too stale to us, we’ll be rallying to stop it. But for now, it doesn’t feel like we are running into a shortage of stories.

He also touched upon the difficulties of production in the era of Covid-19 saying quote We just started shooting a new show [Clarice], and it’s been a real learning curve just in the three days that we’ve been doing it. The great news is that it’s very doable, but it’s a highly militarized operation, everything is slower. Between testing, and your set it doesn’t function like it used to function, there are groups that are vetted by the unions, pods within the groups themselves, there are rotations in and out of people so that if somebody gets sick in your pod, the pod just gets removed and another pod gets pushed in, but it doesn’t infect the whole group. It is a massive massive operation. And we haven’t even started that yet on the Star Trek shows. Quote

Doctors Ten and Thirteen will be meeting in a video game from Maze theory and BBC Studios. Doctor WhoL Edge of Reality is coming for PC and consoles in Spring of 2021. Starring David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker, the game is a reimagining and expansion of the Doctor Who VR game Doctor Who The Edge of Time. Also announced was a mobile and Nintendo Switch game called Doctor Who The Lonely Assassins. The game is a quote found phone experience unquote and tasks players with investigating the house that was in the Doctor Who episode Blink, so don’t turn your back, don’t look away and don’t blink. It arrives for Switch, iOS and Android in Spring of 2021.

The Wrap reports that Legendary pictures has nabbed the rights to classic sci fi character Buck Rogers, The studio, which is behind the new version of Dune and Jurassic World is hoping to modernize the character and they are working on multiple outlets for the character including film, tv and animated.

The much anticipated sequel to Ernest Cline’s novel, Ready Player One will be out next month and at a panel at NYCC the author revealed the synopsis for the book saying quote “Are you ready? Days after winning OASIS founder James Halliday’s contest, Wade Watts makes a discovery that changes everything. Hidden within Halliday’s vaults, waiting for his heir to find, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the OASIS a thousand times more wondrous — and addictive — than even Wade dreamed possible. The Hunger Games prequel book The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will be made into a movie. At NYCC, it was revealed that quote “We see the evolution of Snow and that’s interesting. But to me, the more interesting part was seeing the evolution of Panem and seeing the Hunger Games in its 10th year and seeing how rudimentary it was,” publisher David Levithan shared. “And seeing how all of the themes and all of the ideas that we’ll see later in the trilogy are having their origin story. When you see them in the trilogy, it’s a foregone conclusion: The Hunger Games is what it is, it is evil, it is punitive. But seeing where it didn’t have to go that direction, seeing how it sort of wobbled, and seeing how the forces pushed it into existence, that was fascinating to me because there are lessons to be learned about human nature and about societies and governments that we would really do well to listen to.”

“Everybody at first thought it was going to be a fallen angel story, like Snow’s going to be a hero and then something happens and he becomes bad,” Levithan added. “What Suzanne shows is that it’s so much more complicated than that. His personality was what it was but it was outside forces that either amplify pieces of who you are or help you go a different direction. You see a tug of war in this book.”

So you’ve waited, here’s my thoughts on the season premiere of Star Trek Discovery. The big plot of the season is all about the after effects of an event that happened over a hundred years before Michael landed in the future called “The Burn” where apparently the galaxy’s dilithium went boom, destroying most of space travel. Okay, I can accept that. However, dilithium doesn’t power all of the galaxy’s Faster Than Light travel. If there’s very little dilithium, wouldn’t the Romulans have taken over? Fans of Star Trek will remember that Romulans use mini black holes to power their warp drives, not dilithium. Also, if you’ll remember the second pilot of Star Trek, they used lithium. Plus it’s highly doubtful that Zephrem Cochrane used dilithium since it’s not present on Earth, not that we’ve found any yet. So couldn’t the Federation use that? Or perhaps come up with something else to use? The episode seemed to imply some expense to travel now, but let’s just set something straight, the Federation doesn’t use money, they make stuff just to make stuff. The Federation also would have access to all sorts of knowledge, including knowledge of Transwarp conduits, Discovery’s store drive, surely in a hundred years they could come up with a new method of warp drive that doesn’t involve dilithium.

But other than that, it was a fine start and I look forward to the Rebirth of the Federation. Good Night.

Benedict Cumberbatch is joining Spider-Man 3 , as master of the mystical arts Doctor Stephen Strange. According to an exclusive report in the Hollywood reporter, Doctor Strange will be in a mentor role to Spider-man in this movie, Like Tony Stark and the Skrull Nick Fury in the previous two movies. If you’ll remember the last comic book episode, we got the news that Jamie Foxx had joined up as well. Spider-man 3 is due in theaters December seventeenth 2021 and then Strange will be appearing in the sequel to Doctor Strange, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a few months later in March 25, 2022.

And while we’re on casting news, if you’ll remember the last comic book edition I talked about Tatiana Maslany being cast as She-Hulk for a new Disney Plus series. Well Tatiana is deing the report in an interview with the Canadian paper, The SudBury Star she was asked qutoe I was hoping to ask you about some of the stuff you’ve got going on too. Obviously you are the new She-Hulk, which is a pretty big deal —

A: That actually isn’t a real thing and it’s like a press release that’s gotten out of hand. It’s totally not — I’ve been connected to these things in the past and press has gotten onto it, but it’s not actually a thing, unfortunately.

Q: Seriously? I think I even saw it on the BBC, like serious news outlets.

A: Yeah, I don’t know how these things get — I don’t know, I don’t know. You know better; I have no idea. (Laughs.) unquote

So do you think she’s telling the truth? Or is she just trying to keep it under wraps for a big announcement lately.

IDW’s Captain Marvel series, Marvel Action: Captain Marvel will be relaunching in 2021. Writer Sam MAggs and artist Sweeney Boo are returning with art by newcomer Isabel Escalante Escalante will handle the first two part story with Boo coming in for issues three through five. Sam Maggs said in a statement quote “Writing for Carol — who always has been and always will be my favorite SuperHero — has been a career highlight, and I’m so thrilled to continue her story with the amazing team at IDW,” says Maggs. “Carol is powerful, self-assured, and independent, but there’s still so much she can learn about playing well with others. One of my favorite things about writing Carol’s Marvel Action adventures has been delving into her relationships with other heroines, and we’ll be continuing that theme in this new series!”unquote

TMZ reports that The Original cover Art for the Punisher’s first appearance in Amazinig Spider-man number 129 will soon go up for auction at ComicConnect at the end of Novemer and it expected to go for millions. The art had originally been sold to a private collector by co-artist Gil Kane and is estimated to be worth two million dollars.

In an effort to inform people about mail in balloting, a collection of actors and comedians got together for a new video with Represent US and they did it in the nude. The video features Mark Ruffalo, Tiffany Haddish, Amy Schumer, Josh Gad, Sarah Silverman, Chelsea Handler, Ryan Bathe, and Naomi Campbell. The nudity had a point as it was to remind you that some states make you put the ballot in two envelopes and that just using one will get your ballot labeled as a “Naked Ballot” , which will be tossed out.

Patton Oswalt says that Hulu’s MODOK could be out as soon as the beginning of 2021. THe comedian, actor and executive producer told Collider quote “The episodes have been written. They’ve been recorded. Now they’re being animated,” Oswalt told Collider. “And because we committed very hard to the stop-motion aspect to it and we’re really packing every frame with crazy detail. It’s looking like it’ll be early next year, but I don’t know the exact date yet.” unquote

With the Eternals movie being delayed, The release of the new Eternals comic relaunch has also been pushed back. Marvel has pushed back the release of Eternals number one two January sixth. The movie had been rescheduled for November fifth of 2021.

Michael B Jordan will be producing the Static Shock movie alongside scribe Reginald Hudlin via Jordan’s Outlier Society production banner. IN a statement with the hollywood reporter Jordan said quote “I’m proud to be a part of building a new universe centered around black superheroes; our community deserves that,” “Outlier Society is committed to bringing to life diverse comic book content across all platforms and we are excited to partner with Reggie and Warner Bros on this initial step.” unquote Not only is DC making a static shock movie Hudlin will be writing a new Static Shock digital comic series under the Milestone banner starting in February.

Black Adam has cast actress Sarah Shahi in an unnamed role. According to Deadline she will play quote “university professor and freedom fighter leading the resistance in Kahndaq.” Sarah Shahi might best be known for her role on Person of INterest.

Ruby Rose, the Batwoman of season one of the Arrowverse’s Batwoman show has finally elaborated about why she left the series. Speaking with the Jess Cagle Show, she said quote “It wasn’t that. That definitely made going back to work so quickly tricky, but they really accommodated trying to help me out the best they could, going back so early, because we wanted to obviously meet the release date of the show,” Rose explained. “I think what played a bigger part was more, we got shut down early. We didn’t get to finish the first season, which is such a shame, especially for a first season show. And then we went into lockdown with COVID and thinking of in quarantine and locked down, there was a lot of thought and reflection and kind of everyone did it. We all kind of thought about where we’re at and so Warner Brothers and [producer] Greg [Berlanti], and we were discussing the show and we had a conversation.”

“I had a great time on Batwoman,” Rose continued. “I am so proud of what we achieved. We set out to achieve something pretty significant, you know, the first-ever live-action Batwoman and the first-ever, out gay superhero, her and Kate Kane. And I love that character and the whole experience, but we did have a discussion and we sort of mutually agreed that probably what was best for the show at the time was that they go in a different direction and I go in a different direction. It was tough, because it was sad cause we will love each other, but also it made sense for so many different reasons. And I think at the end of the day, I’m really excited to watch season two. I think the show is great. I love the cast. I’m still in contact with everyone, but it was, it was a decision that we talked about, we discussed, we slept on. But at the time with all that reflection, it just seemed like the right thing to do.” unquote But she also said she was proud of the work she did on the series, but she feels her leaving was best for the show.

Speaking of the CW, maybe the CW should restart production on a second season of Swamp Thing. The series, which only lasted one season on the DC Universe app has been reused on the CW as the network buys time for it’s regular shows to get episodes made. Well According to TVLine, the series is actually seeing great numbers on the CW’s Tuesday night, giving them the largest audience in that time slot since May nineteenth, which was an episode of DC’s Stargirl.

And there’s good news on the filming front, Lucifer Season Six has officially started filming”Today is our first day of shooting Lucifer season 6!” Henderson wrote. “So happy we’ve finished up season 5, and we will be working our buns off to get it finished and to Netflix! Thanks to our incredible cast and crew for working hard and safe and delivering a kickass finale!!”ming. Show runner Joe Henderson announced on Twitter the happy news quote Lucifer fans were surprised with the announcement of a one season renewal back in July, originally season five was to have been the show’s last.

The Green Lantern show Greg Berlanti is making for HBOMax has found a showrunner and writers. The show beb written by Seth Grahme-Smith and Marc Guggenheim with Seth acting as showrunner. The show will focus on multiple Green Lanterns including Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz and Alan Scott. The show will also feature Sinestro and Kilowog and introduce some brand new characters to the Green Lantern Corps.

If there’s ever a live action Batman Beyond, there’s already someone who wants the part. MTV’s Teen Wold Star Tyler Posey says he would be down to playing the part of terry McGinnis. Posey told Collider that he is a fan of the animated series and he thinks he would brring energy to the part quote “Yeah, I really wanna do Batman Beyond. There was a cartoon, years ago, called Batman Beyond, and I really wanna adapt that into a TV show,” he explained. “I wanna do that so bad. I think it would be a really cool spin on a younger Batman. I know Rob Pattinson is doing the new one right now and he’s younger but not as young as me. I think it would be cool to do a take on old Batman being this mentor to a younger Batman.” unquote

Wonder Woman 1984 is still set to hit theaters on Christmas weekend, but Box office Pro Chief Analyst Shawn Robbins is predicting that the movie will be pushed back again to another holiday weekend in 2021. He told Observer dot com quote “Optimistically, there’s a window for a big tentpole around the Presidents and Valentine’s Day holiday weekend in February since Marvel”s Eternals vacated that spot,” Robbins told Observer. “That could be a good fit if the fall and winter fight against the virus goes better than expected and New York, alongside Los Angeles, reopen theaters by then.” unquote Robbins also added that another weekend for it to land would be June eleventh.

Cassandra Peterson aka Elvira Mistress of the Dark along with Dynamite Comics has launched a Kickstarter for a new comic descibed as quote”Dynamite is the proud publisher of Elvira comics and we’ve been having a deadly-delightful time bringing her into our 4-color world. Since the beginning, writer, David Avallone (Elvira, Bettie Page), has worked with Cassandra Peterson (a.k.a. Elvira) to really hone Elvira’s voice and make it the great comic series it is today. When it came time to create another Elvira comic, we here at Dynamite decided it was time to pull out all the stops and combine the talents of David and Cassandra to make an Elvira comic that REALLY services the fans. This fall, Dynamite presents Elvira: The Omega Ma’am, an epic, 48-page comic event that sees Elvira waking up in the midst of a quarantine apocalypse (timely, we know). Watch Elvira’s adventure as she makes new friends, confronts new fiends, and tries to find her way back to a figurative (and literal) land of the living!” unquote The project has less than 25 days to go and has made it’s 6666 goal several times over.

Disney Pixar’s upcoming movie Soul will be diverted to Disney Plus instead of hitting theaters. The film will arrive on the streaming service just in time for the kids to unwrap the presents on Christmas Day. In international markets, the film will be released theatrically. Soul is about a band teacher named Joe Gardner, played by Jamie Foxx who gets the chance of a lifetime to play in the best jazz club in town, until he takes the wrong step and ends up out of body. The film is co0 directed by Pete Docter and Kemp Powers and also stars Phylicia Rashad, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Angela Bassett and Daveed Diggs. It also features music from Late Show band leader Jon Batiste and a score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Heavy Metal is launching its own Creator Owned comics imprint called Magma Comix. They’ve hired former IDW Publishing managing editor Denton J Tipton to run it with an eye on launching in Spring of 2021. Magma will offer what Heavy Metal is calling original and sophisticated genre fiction from creators like Doctor Who writer Paul Cornell, Captain America artist Butch Guice, and model Jade Lagardère. THe first titles for the imprint are Chasing the Dragon by Denton J. Tipton, menton3, and Gil Lazcano launching at the end of February, Amber Blake by Jade Lagardère, Butch Guice, Dan Brown, and Gil Lazcano, a graphic novel due at the end of March, and The Modern Frankenstein by Paul Cornell, Emma Vieceli, Pippa Bowland, and Simon Bowland due out at the end of April.

At New York Comic Con, TV series creator Robert Kirkman said that the Invincible animated show will have the same flavor as the original comics. The eight part series is set to air on Amazon Prime Video in 2021. Each episode will be an hour long and will be the first show from the deal tht Amazon Studios made with Kirkman. Invincible is about Mark Grauyson, played by Steven Yeun, who would be a normal teen, if not for the fact that his dad is the most powerful superhero on the planet. The show will feature the voices of JK Simmons, Sandra Oh, Seth Rogen, Zazie Beetz, Mark Hamill, Michael Dorn and more.

Netflix has said Thanks, but no thanks to a series based on Mark Millar’s comic The Magic Order. The project had been in early pre production in Prague with a targeted 2021 start. Deadline reports that Netflix is still high on The Magic Order Intellectual Property and hopes to maybe make it into a series at some point in the future, just not now. The Magic Order was part of Netflix’s 2017 acquisition of Mark Millar’s Millar world Imprint.

Q made an appearance on Star Trek Lower Decks. We could have seen him on the big screen if Jonathan Frakes had his way, during a Galaxy Con Virtual Panel, Mr. Frakes revealed that he wanted to bring John de Lancie in a Q for at least one of the movies. He had pitched the ultimate Q adventure saying quote “That was my pitch. Well, from my good fortune of getting involved with the movies. I kept saying, ‘When is our finest nemesis going to be in the movies?’ I’m still surprised that wasn’t so.” unquote John De Lancie, who was also on the panel chimed in quote”The place that they never got into it, which is too bad. Which was: What is the Continuum? Other than a road in the desert that goes on, and the shingle in the old gas station,”I actually—which I’m not going to tell people, even now—I did create a backstory on that, which would have been really interesting. But I think it’s actually someplace that would require a great deal of imagination, and I think the audience would go. So I wish that they had gone there.“

SyfyWire broke the news of two new Star Trek Books focused on female characters, Revenant by Alex R White features Jadzia Dax and Kira Nerys and Shadow Have Offended by Cassandra Rose Clark with Deanna Troi, Beverly Crusher and Worf set during the seventh season of The Next Generation. On the acquisition of the two novels Senior Editor and Licensing Manager Ed Schlesinger said quote For decades, the Star Trek franchise has been at the forefront of diversity and inclusion, and we’re truly thrilled to be introducing Alex’s and Cassandra’s distinct and acclaimed voices to the ST novel program.” unquote. No words on then they will be released.

Sorry European listeners, Destination Star Trek London 2020 has been postponed to, you guessed it 2021.Just like Destination Star Trek Germany, the delay is due to the ongoing pandemic, the message on the official website reads quote “Dear Star Trek fans, We hope you are all well and have been staying safe these last few difficult months. We really have missed you! Due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19 it is with great sadness we must postpone this November’s Destination Star Trek event in London. We hope you understand that our most important consideration is your health and safety and at the moment there is just no way to bring you the event that you deserve and ensure you are safe at it. So, we have decided to move Destination Star Trek to a time when we can hopefully all be together in a risk-free environment, and so enjoy the event.

Star Wars has unveiled a brand new Lightsaber inspired by King Arthur’s Excalibur in the new Star Wars The High Republic. The High Republic is the new Star Wars book and comics line and launches in 2021. THe High Republic takes place 200 years before the Skywalker Saga when the Jedi were a universal peacekeeping force. So they have lightsabers with hilts like medieval knights, of course. The caption on some new concept art says quote “During the time of the High Republic, Jedi Master Stellan Gios ascended through the ranks of the Jedi Order as the Padawan of Jedi Master Rana Kant. As a young Padawan learner, he developed a strong connection with fellow Jedi Avar Kriss and Elzar Mann, though they were apprenticed to different masters. Gios is regularly the voice of reason amongst the three, focused on upholding the Jedi tradition.

“….Gios’ lightsaber is an elegant weapon with a crossguard and a longer hilt that allows him to easily wield it with two hands like a broadsword. The crossguard’s quillons point forward when the saber is not in use, and the weapon rests in a holster that leaves the saber easily accessible. the hilt features striking black, gold, and silver details. When the saber ignites, the crossguard blades push the quillions outward, forming caps to the blades and creating a secondary guard.” unquote Illustration manager Jeff R. Thomas speaking to star wars dot com said about the design quote “When designing Stellan’s lightsaber, I looked at the iconic lightsabers that have already been established. He needed an iconic weapon that could stand beside the other famous lightsabers, but at the same time be unique to him and evoke the time period of the High Republic… We wanted to implement a more traditional crossguard, but I still wanted to include the saber-blade into the crossguard design, so that Stellan would be able to defend himself against saber attacks. That’s where Excalibur came into play. What would a lightsaber version of Excalibur look like?

I started sketching and came up with a silhouette I really liked, but the practicality of holstering/sheathing it nagged at me until I had the idea that the crossguard didn’t have to be stationary. Perhaps it could activate or deactivate with the saber. So after some more sketches and some back and forth with Lucasfilm, it was decided that the crossguard would activate as opposed to always being open, which would give the saber the slimmer silhouette while holstered and would lend itself to some great visuals when activating.” unquote

The Mandalorian merchandising machine moves on. This time Hasbro brings us, Star Wars The Mandalorian Monopoly, this is different from the Child edition of Monopoly which was announced back in May.

Mandalorian Monopoly is out now and allows you to play as The Mandalorian , Cara Dune IG-11 or Kuiil , each with special abilities. Season two of The Mandalorian is coming next month and Jon Favreau is already writing season three, well according to star Giancarlo Esposito it could go a little longer than that. Speaking With People Magazine he said quote “We’re living in a universe that is huge and there’s so much to explore, so I think this show is going to lay the groundwork for the depth and breath that’s gonna come in Season Three and Season Four, where you’re really gonna start to get answers,” unquote So at least four seasons. Think they’ll stop there or maybe do a movie.

The FAA has officially closed the books on Harrison Ford’s oopsy daisy earlier this year at the Hawthorne Airport in Los angeles. To remind you of what happened, Mister Ford’s plane crossed a runway while another place was about to take off. According to the FAA statement shared with The Hollywood reporter quote “The FAA has closed the case involving the pilot who crossed a Hawthorne Municipal Airport runway without authorization on April 24, 2020. The FAA required the pilot to take a remedial runway incursion training course. When the pilot successfully completed the course, the FAA closed the case with no additional action,” “Mr. Ford crossed the airport’s only runway in his aircraft after he misheard a radio instruction from ATC,” Ford’s statement read. “He immediately acknowledged the mistake and apologized to ATC for the error. The purpose of the flight was to maintain currency and proficiency in the aircraft. No one was injured and there was never any danger of a collision.” unquote Harrison Ford is 78 and if he stops flying he might make it to 79.

Amazon has shown off it’s new streaming service Luna. The service which has rolled out for early access in the US doesn’t do lengthy downloads, so that a game will start as easily as a Netflix movie. Luna will also have a special curated Channel called Luna Plus that will give subscribers early access to new titles for only six dollars a month.

Like resident Evil seven, Control and Panzer Dragoon. Ubisoft will also offer titles like FarCry 5 on the platform on the day of the games launch.

Amazon owned Streaming service Twitch will be integrated into the service and will allow players to easily stream games.

Luna will also work across devices including Fire TV PC, MAc and iOS with Android coming soon. Players can use a keyboard mouse or bluetooth controller or you can buy Amazon’s own controller for fifty dollars.

According to James Comeron, Avatar 2 has finished filming and Avatar 3 is 95 percent complete, the director revealed this during a video chat with Arnold Schwarzennegger during the 2020 Austrian World Summit. He told the summit quote “COVID hit us like it hit everybody,” he said. “We lost about four and a half months of production. As a result of that, we’ve rolled around one more full year for a release in December of 2022. That’s been announced already.”“Now that doesn’t mean I have an extra year to finish the film because the day we deliver ‘Avatar 2,’ we’ll just start working on finishing ‘Avatar 3,” Cameron said. “So where we are right now, I’m down in New Zealand shooting, we’re shooting the remainder of the live-action. We’ve got about 10% left to go. We’re 100% complete on ‘Avatar 2’ and we’re sort of 95% complete with ‘Avatar 3.’”“Avatar 2” set for Dec. 16, 2022; “Avatar 3” slated for Dec. 20, 2024; “Avatar 4” to debut on Dec. 18, 2026; and “Avatar 5” on Dec. 22, 2028. I gotta say, good idea on spacing them out makes sure people aren’t tired of the franchise by the time the last one comes out.

The Hot Wheels movie now has writers. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Neil Widener and Gavin James have been tapped to write the movie based on the Mattel toy car line. No further details on what kind of plot you get from Hot Wheels or any other detail for that matter.

Cineworld, the parent company of US based Regal Cinemas is sitting out the rest of 2020 and closing all of it’s theaters until 2021. This comes in response to MGM deciding to hold off on releasing the new James Bond film, No Time To Die until next April, it was expected to be released next month. Regal is the second biggest theater chain in the US and these closures will impact 28, 000 US and 5,500 UK employees. Cineworld confirmed this with a statement on Monday quote In response to an increasingly challenging theatrical landscape and sustained key market closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cineworld confirms that it will be temporarily suspending operations at all of its 536 Regal theatres in the U.S. and its 127 Cineworld and Picturehouse theaters in the U.K. from Thursday, 8 October 2020.” Unquote

No word on any particular reopening date.

I wouldn’t blame them if they did as the box office recovery has kind of collapsed. With very little new movies on the market, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet was almost beaten by the 1993 Halloween classic Hocus Pocus.

Game of Thrones actor Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson and his wife Kelsey Henson have welcomed their first child together, a baby boy. His wife announced via Instagram quote

“Our beautiful baby boy made his grand entrance into the world at 11:19 AM on September 26th 2020 after a short and intense six hours. 3530 grams and 52 cm. The birth was the most powerful, life changing, empowering thing I’ve ever done in my entire life. We are all doing well and settling in at home as three!” unquote Congrats to the happy couple. This story is bizarre, an unknown attacker punched actor Rick Moranis in Manhattan’s upper west side last week. The NYPD says that footage of the attack shows that the actor was simply walking by when the individual punched him in the head sending him to the ground. The sixty seven year old Mr. Moranis, went to the hospital afterwards and reported pain in the head, back and hip. The NYPD has put a 2500 dollar reward for any info that leads to the arrest of the assailant.

Emmy Winning Producer Kevin Burns who guided the 2006 remake of The Poseidon Adventure and Netflix’s Lost in space reboot has died. Kevin’s company Prometheus Entertainment made the History series Ancient Aliens, Food Paradise, The Un Xplained with William Shatner, The Curse of Oak Island and other shows. He won a primetime Emmy in 2002 for the rebooted Biography and a daytime Emmy in 2003 for Hollywood Rocke The Movies The 1970, hosted by David Bowie. bBurns produced over 800 hours of TV during his career, he passed away from a heart attack at the age of 85.

The Berlanti productions are headed back to filming soon. Supergirl’s final season started production this past week, while The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow are also just getting started. Superman & Lois, Titans, Stargirl will all start filming at the end of October and Doom Patrol will return to production in January,

Although Supergirl might have to be delayed a few days, as star Melissa Benoist and husband Chris Wood as they announced the birth of their son, Huxley Robert Wood. Mellisa announced the happy news on her Instagram with a photo of her boys little hands and the caption “Huxley Robert Wood got here a few weeks ago and this little boy is everything. Unquote Congrats to the happy couple.

Mellissa will have plenty of time with her new child next year, as it’s been announced that season six will be the final for the series. On Instagram Mellisa posted quote To say it has been an honor portraying this iconic character would be a massive understatement. Seeing the incredible impact the show has had on young girls around the world has always left me humbled and speechless,” Benoist wrote. “She’s had that impact on me, too. She’s taught me strength I didn’t know I had, to find hope in the darkest of places, and that we are stronger when we’re united. What she stands for pushes all of us to be better. She has changed my life for the better, and I’m forever grateful.”

She added, “I’m so excited that we get to plan our conclusion to this amazing journey, and I cannot wait for you to see what we have in store. I promise we’re going to make it one helluva final season.”

She ended her message with “el mayarah”, Kryptonian for “stronger together.”

Also starting back up is filming for The Batman, The news of this come from a listing in Production Weeklyd and Screen Magazine which portends that the movie will be shooting in Chicago in the later half of October. The filming will reportedly take place in downtown Chicago and feature extensive driving sequences.

Aldis Hodge has signed on to play Hawkman in Black Adam according to a report confirmed by Variety. The actor who starred in The Invisible Man, as well as a Star Trek Short Trek is deep in negotiation for the part that will see him join Dwayne The Rock Johnson as Black Adam and Noah Centineo as the superhero Atom Smasher. Black Adam is scheduled for release on December twenty first 2021.

John Cena’s Suicide Squad character Peace Maker is getting an HBO Max spinoff series. Warner Media broke the news in a press release saying quote “Oh f*ck, it’s Peacemaker! HBO Max is set to explore the origins of the Peacemaker character, the master of weapons from the highly anticipated upcoming The Suicide Squad film, in the new Max Original action-adventure-comedy series Peacemaker. HBO Max has given a straight-to-series order of eight episodes for the first season of the show. John Cena will reprise his role from The Suicide Squad movie to star in the series, and the film’s acclaimed writer/director James Gunn will write all eight episodes of Peacemaker and will direct multiple episodes, including the first. Gunn and The Suicide Squad producer Peter Safran will serve as executive producers of the series, with Cena as co-executive producer. Based on characters from DC, Peacemaker will be produced by Gunn’s Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company in association with Warner Bros. Television. Peacemaker is scheduled to begin production in early 2021, prior to Gunn beginning work on the next Guardians of the Galaxyfilm. Unquote The series will extend the world that James Gunn is creating for the movie James Gunn in a statement said quote “Peacemaker is an opportunity to delve into current world issues through the lens of this superhero/supervillain/and world’s biggest douchebag. I’m excited to expand The Suicide Squad and bring this character from the DC film universe to the full breadth of a series. And of course, to be able to work again with John, Peter, and my friends at Warner Bros. is the icing on the cake.” unquote

Batwoman has cast Gotham Actor Alex Morf as killer Victor Zsasz who is quote ″a charismatic, skilled hitman with high, unpredictable energy. He proudly carves tally marks onto his skin for every victim he kills.” unquote Mork played gang leader Sykes in the final season of Gotham

Black Widow, Eternals and Shang Chi have been pushed back again. Black Widow will now release on May seventh, 2021, followed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will release on July ninth and finishing out 2021 is Eternals on November fifth. This makes WandaVision the first title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4, most likely just one episode will air in December possibly on Christmas Day. Still in various states of production are Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, a Captain Marvel sequel, Black Panther II, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The Disney+ platform will soon house Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel.

PS4 owners will not be able to upgrade to the PS5 remaster of the title. Sony, in a statement to Kotaku said quote”Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered is an enhanced version of Marvel’s Spider-Man, and is included as part of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition for the PlayStation 5,” Sony says in the statement, provided to Kotaku. “In addition, players who purchase Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PlayStation 4 can upgrade at no additional cost to the PS5 version of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and can take advantage of a paid-upgrade to download Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered.”

“There are no plans currently to offer Marvel’s-Spider-Man: Remastered as a standalone,” the statement continues. “Players with a copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 can purchase Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition to experience Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered on PS5. Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 also will be backwards compatible on PS5.”

Marvel Comics has announced the return of SWORD. December will see the launch of the new x-men series from writer Al Ewing and artist Valerio Schiti. SWORD is tasked with bringing the mutant order of Krakoa to outer space. Here’s the blurb: In the startling aftermath of X OF SWORDS, mutant kind will take the bold next step in claiming their destiny by relaunching the Sentient World Observation & Response Directorate to deal with all things extra-terrestrial on behalf of Earth. The events of this series will have a tremendous impact not only on the X-Men’s world but the Marvel Universe as a whole, as the mutants of S.W.O.R.D. warp the cosmic landscape forever. The stellar cast includes Magneto, Abigail Brand, Cable, Frenzy, Wiz-Kid, Fabian Cortez, former Avenger Manifold, and many other fan-favorite mutants who will be stepping into the spotlight in a major way. Unquote Mutants…in…Space!

Samuel L Jackson is back as Nick Fury and this time it’s for a new Disney Plus series. According to Variety , the exact plot is unknown but multiple sources have confirmed that Samuel L Jackson will star with Kyle Bradstreet wil write and executive produce. The last time Nick Fury was seen was in Spiderman Far From Home’s post credit scene. No official announcement has been put out yet.

Ya know, the funny thing about messing around with movie release dates is the merchandising doesn’t stop. Companies like Mattel and Kellogs, aren’t going to hold on to the merchandise until your film gets released, they’re gonna put it out on their timetable. Such it is with Mattel’s new Black Widow Barbie dolls. The dolls were set to be out in time for the movie and this upcoming holiday season, but now the film has been set back to next May. There are two black Widow barbies one with a Natasha Romanoff like Barbie in her black suit and another in her new white suit. Both have armored shoulders, knee-high boots, utility belt, dual batons, holsters, and Widow’s Bite bracelets. Both figures stand at 11.5-inches tall and feature poseable arms and legs. These signature barbies run about 50 dollars at places like Amazon.

The next Spider-man will feature a villain that we’ve seen before, Jamie Foxx, who played Electro in The Amazing Spider-man 2 is apparently in talks to reprise the role for the next Spiderman movie with Tom Holland, due for release on December seventeenth 2021. Nothing official has been released about it, although Jamie Foxx wrote on Instagram quote “Super excited to be part of the new marvel Spider-Man new installment,” “And i won’t be blue in this one!! but a thousand percent badass!!! He later deleted the post.

The Simpsons new season has started, did you notice the change? This year Carl Carlson is no longer being voiced by HAnk Azaria, bjt is now being played by actor Alex Desert. Desert might be known from the CBS Sitcom as Jake Malinak, he’s also appeared on Boy Meets World, voiced Nick Fury on The Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Captain Julio Mendez as The Flash.

Over at Family Guy they have cast Youtube Star Arif Zahir as the new voice of Cleveland Brown. Zahir will take over for Cleveland this season, taking over for Mike Henry who voiced the character since 1999. In a statement Mike Henry said quote “Arif’s vocal talent is obvious, but his understanding of Cleveland and his respect for the character give me confidence that he is in the right hands,” Henry said. “I look forward to getting to know Arif and working with him to make sure Cleveland stays every bit as awesome as he has always been.” Arif’s impressions including Clevland Brown, Donald Trump, Barack Obama and others has gotten over 6 million viewers on Youtube.

Amazon Prime’s series, The Boys, is getting a spinoff show. The as yet untitled spinoff is being written by The Boys executive producer Craig Rosenberg and will be set at America’s only college for young superheroes run by the shady corporation Vought International. It will be a TV-MA series and is being described as part college show and part Hunger Games.

Lionsgate has inked a first look deal with Vertigo Entertainment, the production company behind It and the Lego Movie. The deal will cover anything outside tv, where Vertigo has a deal with Sony Pictures TV. First from the deal will be the Horror THriller Cobweb.

Robert Zemeckis redo of Adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches is skipping theaters and going straight to HBO Max instead on October twenty second., originally it was going to open this coming weekend, however international fans, you’ll still get to see it in theaters starting on October twenty eighth. The Witches is based on the classic children’s novel about a young boy played by Jahzir Kadeem Bruno who, while staying at a hotel with his grandmother, played by Octavia Spencer happens upon a gathering of witches led by the Grand High Witch, played by Anne Hataway. They plan on turning the world’s children into mice. The movie also features Stanley Tucci, Chris Rock and Kristin Chenoweth.

The son of daredevil Evel Kenievel is suing Disney over the parody character of Duke Caboom from Toy Story 4.

A federal Trademark infringement lawsuit filed in Las Vegas alleges that the character of Duke was improperly based on the larger than life Evel. Evel’s son Kelly Knievel who heads K and K has had publicity rights to the Evel Knieval name since 1998. And he said that the moviemakers never sought permission to use his father’s likeness. Walt Disney Company in a response to the lawsuit said via corporate spokesman Jeffrey R Epstein said it will defend itself vigorously against what it calls meritless claims. Knieval is seeking more than $300,000. Eval Knievel died in 2007 at the age of 69 from lung disease.

TKO Studios has unveiled its third wave of titles that will be on sale in November. The Pull, a science fiction epic about people with less than a week to live, by Steve Orlando (Wonder Woman, the upcoming Commanders in Crisis) and Ricardo Lopez Ortiz (Black Panther vs. Deadpool); Lonesome Days, Savage Nights, a new private investigator crime drama from Steve Niles (30 Days of Night), Salvatore Simeone (co-founder of TKO Studios), and Szymon Kudranski (Punisher); and Redfork, a horror story about an ex-con from Alex Paknadel (Arcadia) and Nil Vendrell (Shirtless Beard-Fighter!). All three new titles will launch on November ninth with preorders opening on October sixteenth.

Yara Shahidi from Black-ish and Grown-ish fame has gotten the role of Tinkerbell in Disney’s live action version of Peter Pan. She joins Jude Law as Captain Hook, Alexander Molony as Peter Pan and Ever Anderson as Wendy.

The Savage Dragon wants you to vote for the Democratic ticket in this year’s US Presidential Election. Image revealed an alternate cover to Savage Dragon #253 featuring Malcolm Dragon endorsing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Malcolm Dragon is of course the son of the original Savage Dragon who endorsed Barack Obama back in 2008.

Valiant is relaunching Harbinger in 2021. The comic will be retitled The Harbinger and will be written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly and drawn by Robbi Rodriguez and will pick up the story of Peter Stanchek. Jackson Lanzing in a statement said quote “The Harbinger is the next big step forward in the Valiant Universe and Peter Stanchek’s promised rebirth as a hero, a leader, and a revolutionary,” “It’s unapologetic in its politics, diverse in its cast, and intimate in its drama. Collin and I love to tell stories that balance character deconstruction and social analysis, and there’s no one in comics who needs a little deconstruction and social awareness more than Peter.” unquote The comic will launch in Summer of 2021.

Tonight we note the passing of singer and actress Helen Reddy, best known for the 1972 song I am Woman as well as Delta Dawn, Leave Me Alone and others. She had a short lived tv variety show as well as a couple of movie roles in Airport 75 and Pete’s Dragon, which is one of my favorite Disney Movies.

In a statement her daughter Traci and her son Jordan said quote “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Reddy, on the afternoon of September 29th 2020 in Los Angeles. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.” unquote She reportedly has been suffering from Dementia since 2015 and died in the care of the Motion Picture and Television Fund’s Samuel Goldwyn Center for Behavioral Health in Woodland Hills, California, she was 78.

Star Wars

The second season of The Mandalorian will be headed back to Tatooine. The series visited Mos Eisley in season one and hinted at the presence of Boba Fett. Could season two have something to do with Boba? Who knows. New episodes start on Disney Plus on October 30th.

The Baby Yoda merchandising train just keeps going. The muppet has made a mint for the mouse. This time it’s a toaster. Yep, a toaster. The green 2 slice toaster has an illustration of Mando and The Child on the side and makes toast with the face of the child burned in it. It retails for about 35 dollars.

If you’ve ever wanted to shoot Lego Greedo, you’re about to get your chance. Lego’s Mos Eisley Cantina set is coming. This is a deluxe version of the previous sets and is designed for master builders. The final product will measure over 7.5” (19cm) high, 20.5” (52cm) wide and 23” (58cm) deep when opened up and includes a removable roof, attachable buildings, Landspeeders minifigs of Ponda Baba, Dr. Evazan, Garindan, Kardue’Sai’Malloc, three members of the Cantina band, Jawa, Sandtroopers, a Dewback, and more. Plus, the set is also packed with details like a “Wanted” poster featuring R2D2 and C- 3PO, and the kyber crystals hidden in one of the exterior buildings.

The 3187 piece set comes out on October first for the price of a big screen tv, 349.99.

Daisy Ridley’s Rey wasn’t always going to be the granddaughter of the Emperor. They were toying with several possible suspects including at one point being the descendant of Obi-Wan. Telling Josh Gad quote “No, at the beginning they were toying with an Obi-Wan connection,” Ridley said of the dangling plot thread. “There were different versions and at one point she was no one… it kept changing.” unquote. Frankly, I don’t think the parentage of Rey is anything substantial. It’s a minor detail. Not worth getting upset over.

Obi-Wan will finally get to go in front of cameras for Disney Plus next spring according to series star Ewan McGregor. Ewan told Entertainment Weekly quote”Spring next year we start, so I’m really excited about it,” McGregor shared with Entertainment Tonight. “I’m super excited about it, it’s going to be great I think. There’s no talk of [a second season] it’s pretty much as I understand it a standalone season. But we’ll see, who knows?” unquote

Star Trek

Star Trek Discovery is coming to Star Trek Fleet Command. Scopely’s Star Trek Discovery Arc is the first non-KElvin Timeline Star Trek Property in the game. You get the Discovery ship, officers like Michael Burnham and Saru, a battle pass that offers new content and resources, and Anomaly Events that allow players to battle alongside the Discovery for a limited time.

A new official Star Trek podcast is now out. CBS Television Studios and the Star Trek Global Franchise Group announced the new podcast called Star Trek The Pod Directive. Hosting the podcast is Lower Decks star Tawny Newsome and comedian Paul F Tompkins. According to the press release quote “With unparalleled access to Star Trek luminaries, celebrity super-fans and behind-the-scenes creative professionals, Star Trek: The Pod Directive takes a smart, witty and thoughtful look at all things Trek – both old and new. Offering a high-level discussion of the themes, ideas, and characters that resonate across the history of the franchise’s storied universe, episodes will also explore the brand’s 50-plus-year legacy and influence. Each episode features an in-depth personal interview with a notable guest, coverage of a Star Trek event, or a discussion of a specific topic with one or more guests.” Guests slated for the show include Ben Stiller, Michelle Hurd, Mike McMahan, Stacey Abrams, astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti and Jeff Russo. Episodes will be weekly coming out on Mondays through the beginning of November.

In advance of Star Trek Discovery and to celebrate Star Trek’s anniversary. ViacomCBS put out a new updated Star Trek timeline. The timeline showcases on the timeline include The launch of the NX Enterprise, The founding of the Federation, the Kelvin timeline divergence, Star Trek Discovery going all the way to The Lower Decks and Star Trek Picard and ending in Discovery’s third season in the distant future. https://www.startrek.com/videos/watch-a-timeline-through-the-star-trek-universe

Speaking of Discovery’s third season, Kenneth Mitchell is no stranger to the show, having played three different Klingons in the show’s first two seasons, this time he’s back without having to sit in a long makeup season. Speaking with the Official Star Trek Magazine he talked about his new character quote “I’m playing a human character,” Mitchell says. “It’s beautiful, and I’m excited for the fans to meet him. I am also thankful for the continued support of Alex (Kurtzman), Michelle Paradise, Olatunde (Osunsanmi), Jonathan Frakes and everyone at Secret Hideout, who made it happen for me.” unquote However don’t look for him right away as his character doesn’t show until later in the season.

The more universal name Paramount Plus early next year. The new name will also come with an expansion of origins content and it’s archive of programming. One of the reasons for the change was addressed by ViacomCBS president and CEO Bob Bakish telling Variety quote “Paramount is an iconic and storied brand beloved by consumers all over the world, and it is synonymous with quality, integrity and world-class storytelling,” said Bob Bakish, president-CEO of ViacomCBS. “With Paramount Plus, we’re excited to establish one global streaming brand in the broad-pay segment that will draw on the sheer breadth and depth of the ViacomCBS portfolio to offer an extraordinary collection of content for everyone to enjoy.” Unquote New shows in the work include another reboot of THe Game, a spinoff of the CW and BET show Girlfriends and a 10 issue limited series about producer Al Ruddy’s experiences of the shooting of The Godfather.

A little news about Strange New Worlds, during the show’s Star Trek Day panel, Rebecca Romijn hinted that Number One’s back story will be told quote “Well, like ‘The Cage’ being such an old pilot, the writers have this very unique opportunity where they’ve had this character that’s existed since the beginning of the canon, and she’s never been written,” Romijn says. “I can’t wait to find out how vast her skill set is. What are the arrows in her quiver? My number one question is, ‘What’s her backstory?’ And I had a delightful meeting with the writers’ room a couple of months ago, and they floated an idea for Number One’s backstory that I’m not going to share right now because it blew my mind when they said it, but that’s all I can say.” unquote

Some movie news. Noah Hawley told Variety that his movie is in a state of stasis until the new president of the studio recalibrates. He told them that they had finished the script and gotten to the designer hiring phase when the pause button was pressed. He also said that it would have been a completely different cast of characters quote “We’re not doing Kirk and we’re not doing Picard,” he says. “It’s a start from scratch that then allows us to do what we did with ‘Fargo,’ where for the first three hours you go, ‘Oh, it really has nothing to do with the movie,’ and then you find the money. So you reward the audience with a thing that they love.”

Congratulations are in order to Stranger Days and Black Widow star David Harbour and singer Lily Allen as the two tied the knot in Las Vegas over the Labor Day weekend. The couple got the marriage license the day before and it was officiated by an Elvis Impersonator. David Harbour released a photo of the happy couple on Instagram.

The Oscars aren’t gonna look so white in the future. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced new Inclusion requirements for the Best Picture category. For the 2022 and 2023 Oscars , a film will submit a confidential Academy Inclusion Standards form to be considered for best picture. Beginning in 2024, for the 96th Oscars, a film submitting for best picture will need to meet the inclusion thresholds by meeting two of the four standards. All other categories will keep their current requirements.

Neve Campbell is returning to the Scream Franchise as Sidney Prescott for a new Scream movie from Spyglass and Paramount Entertainment. According to the press release the new movie will return to the fictional home of the original movies, Woodsboro, California.

The Matrix 4 will be a love story according to star Keanu Reeves. Speaking with the BBCs The ONe Show, he described the plot as quote “We have a wonderful writer and director, Lana Wachowski, and she’s really written a beautiful, beautiful script that is a love story, it’s inspiring, it’s another version of a kind of call to wake up, and entertains, great action. And all will be revealed,”

One note before we get to our final story tonight, right before taping I learned of the death of actor Michael Lonsdale had passed away at the age of 89. Lonsdale appeared in over 200 films and TV shows during his 60-year career, though most fans know him best as the villain in the 1979 James Bond movie, Moonraker. Appearing as Hugo Drax in Moonraker, Lonsdale established himself as one of the most memorable Bond villains over the years, going toe-to-toe with Sir Roger Moore’s 007 in a fight for the fate of the world.

Tonight we remember Dame Diana Rigg, the british actress who is best known for starring as agent Emma Peel on the classic british series The Avengers in the sixties.Diana was born in Donchester in 1938 When she grew up, Rigg started with a successful career as a stage actress in 1957, joining The Royal Shakespeare Society in 1959. She started her television career with a bit part in a tv production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She hit it big in 1965 during the fourth series of The Avengers, she left the show in 1968, a year later she was opposite George Lazenby in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, her character was the only won to win James Bond’s hand in marriage (only to meet her end at the end of the film.) She’d go on to many other shows and movies in the future including movies The Worst Witch, and The Great Muppet Caper and shows like You, Me and The Apocalypse, Doctor Who,and Game of Thrones. She won during her acting career the Bafta Award, a Tony Award, an Emmy Award and in 1994 was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Diana Rigg died in her London home on September tenth from cancer, she was 84.

Catwoman did one thing for Halle Berry’s career and it wasn’t to end it. The actress says the Razzie award winning bonfire of a comics movie made her want to direct. Telling Variety quote “The story didn’t feel quite right,” Berry explained to Variety. “I remember having that argument: ‘Why can’t Catwoman save the world like Batman and Superman do? Why is she just saving women from a face cream that cracks their face off?’ But I was just the actor for hire. I wasn’t the director. I had very little say over that.” unquote She’s currently directing a new sports drama called Bruised.

Wonder Woman 1984 has been moved to Christmas, as it has been chased through the 2020 calendar to the literal end. In a statement WW 1984 director Patty Jenkins said quote “First and foremost let me say how much Gal and I love all our devoted Wonder Woman fans around the world, and your excitement for ‘WW84’ couldn’t make us happier or more eager for you to see the movie,””Because I know how important it is to bring this movie to you on a big screen when all of us can share the experience together, I’m hopeful you won’t mind waiting just a little bit longer. With the new date on Christmas Day, we can’t wait to spend the holidays with you!” unquote THe new release date puts it a week after the new adaptation of Dune, West Side Story and Coming 2 America, the sequel to Coming to America. We will still see if any of those hold true.

December also brings us winter, in DC’s case it’s an Endless Winter. Ron Marz and Andy Lanning are queuing up the next DC crossover event Justice League Endless Winter. The mini series, told over the Justice League titles and bookended by two specials will run the entire month of December, in an interview with Comic Book Resources, Marz an d Lanning promoted the crossover that sees parallel storylines between the present day DCU and 10 century Vikings battling the new villain The Frost King. Marz told the site quote

The seeds of the story are really planted in the 10th century and, as you see the issues, you’ll see that literally and figuratively. Every issue will have this sequence set in the 10th century which includes what we’re calling, for our own purposes, the Justice League Viking which is Hippolyta, Black Adam, Viking Prince and Swamp Thing. The notion being that there’s a collection of heroes in every era, and this is the heroes that come together in that era. What goes on in the past very much dictates how this comes back in the present — and I guess we can say the threat is called the Frost King — how the mistakes in the past dictate how things go in the present and learning the lessons in the past is what is the necessary function for the Justice League now. There are connections to the past that dictate how things go in the present, both for good and for ill. Unquote

Batman Beyond comic is being axed with December’s issue 50. Part of the fallout from the WarnerMedia cuts at DC. Here’s the promo for the final issue quote: The finale of Dan Jurgens’s iconic run on Batman Beyond finds Terry McGinnis accused of crimes he didn’t commit! The sequel to the first Shazam movie, Shazam! Fury of the Gods will definitely see more of the Shazam family in action. Director David F Sandberg said at DC Fandome quote “Now they’re all superheroes, they’re all a family with superpowers. And now we finally get to see that,””We only got a glimpse of that in the first movie, so that’s something to look forward to.” The movie should start shooting next year and will be released in November of 2022.

The Flash season seven will definitely look at the mysterious speedster Godspeed this season. Showrunner Eric Wallace said about the mystery quote

“I don’t like spoilers, let’s just say there was a certain speedster who wore a white costume, whose clones kept showing up,” Wallace explained. “Really, Team Flash has to deal with that, but we never caught the real guy or girl. Let’s just say we might find out that mystery this season.”

Also discussed was how events in our world will affect the series, especially Joe. Eric Wallace said quote “The world right now is on fire,” “We have to look at what’s around us. It definitely informs specifically Joe’s story, but in a good way, and in a positive way because we need to be socially responsible as artists. Yes, I love comic books, and The Flash, but I’m a person first. We have to be people first and work together to make the world a better place. I believe that that’s where those changes are coming from so yeah, you’ll notice some changes, definitely.”

The Batwoman season looked at Javica Leslie stepping into the Batwoman role. Showrunner Caroling Dries talked about Javicas audition saying quote “When Javicia auditioned, it was obvious to everyone watching the tape in like five seconds,” Dries explained. “[It was] over Zoom and I texted somebody on the computer in the chat like ‘Oh she gets it!’ It just was so clear that Javicia was meant for this role. And then when I talked to her she said, ‘You know, I feel like I am Ryan. My friend heard me audition and she was like ‘Yo, you are Ryan.” It just feel like destiny, which is kind of one of the themes of the season.”

“And then the other thing she did, which I didn’t even see until after I knew she was Batwoman, was she had this athlete reel or athleticism reel, of all of like a montage of all of her [stunt],” Dries added. “One of the things that she did was pushing this giant tire over, like somersaults. And I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, all I needed to do is see you.’ I told her ‘You had me a tire flip.’ She just brings everything, sort of – intellect, emotion, heart, athletics. Everything you know you want in your hero. I think she had to do a really hard thing which is take a role for a script that didn’t exist yet. And she was willing to trust us with it. So that’s awesome.” unquote

Also talked about during the panel is what the other characters will think of this new Batwoman. Nicole Kang said quote “I’m especially excited to see this new relationship happen, in the wake of Mary dealing with this mysterious disappearance, and how she decides to sort of take it and take it hard,” Nicole Kang, who plays Mary Hamilton on the series, explained. “She’s been a person who, I think, is always looking for family, is always looking for community, is always looking for somebody to see her. Which is, I think, a huge source of why the clinic exists for her, there are just much deeper personal reasons for that. And I think Mary and Ryan sort of have that in common, perhaps, which is why I think Mary really looks to Ryan, in this way.”

“I’m actually really excited because there was this triangle between Alice, Kate Kane, and Mary,” Kang added. “And, you know, without Kate actively in that triangle. I’m really really interested to see sort of Mary, and Alison’s relationship and where that goes. Because there’s a lot that has been dealt with, and Kate was a buffer of sorts, between them and so without that, anything could happen.” unquote

Rachel Skarsten said about Alice’s reaction quote “I think Alice is just going to be peeved,” Skarsten revealed. “Here she has this beautifully intricate plan for the demise of her sister! And that will have been foiled. But she is also going to have a lot to be worried about, since we’re introducing a new character Safiyah, who Alice had talked about in the last season. The introduction of Safiyah will be intriguing just because this is a sort of a backstory of Alice that we haven’t had the opportunity to see before.” unquote New episodes are due next year.

The Flash movie was also presented. Producer Barbara Muschietti hinted that quote “Well, I want you to go see it, so I’m not going to tell you a lot,” Muschietti explained. “But what I will tell you is that it’s a ride. It’s going to be fun and exciting and there are a lot of DC characters in it. Flash is the superhero of this film because he is the bridge between all of these characters and timelines. And in a way, it restarts everything and doesn’t forget anything.” unquote Sounds like this movie might be a soft reboot of the DCU movies. Let’s hope in the direction of less GrimDark.

Superman and Lois will see a new Superman Suit according to showrunner Todd Helbing talking about the suit worn by Tyler Hoechilin in the arrowverse appearances quote “Originally, when you came on for the crossovers, that suit just wasn’t built to sustain a series,” “And I think just in everything that we were talking about earlier, you know, ‘Crisis’ gave us this fresh slate. Yeah, let’s, let’s make a new suit. So, there’s gonna be a really badass Superman suit in this show.”

The series stars Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Jordan Elsass as Jonathan Kent, Alex Garfin as Jordan Kent, Superman and Lois’ sons, as well as Emmanuelle Chriqui as Lana Lang and Erik Valdez as Lana’s husband, Kyle Cushing. The show is expected this January.

Changes are coming to the DC Universe streaming service, first up, Harley Quinn, Doom Patrol and Titans are moving to HBO Max. So what does this mean for the DC Universe? It’s becoming Infinite, come January it will be rechristened DC Universe Infinite and will have 24,000 comics from DCs library with new comics added to the service six months after their release date, plus online only books like Harley Quinn Black + White + Red and Batman The Adventures Continue will be on the service after only 3 months. The service will also finally expand to international markets in the summer of 2021.

Marvel

THe Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing, aka MODOK will be getting his own comic this December. MODOK: Head Games comes from Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum, the showrunners for Hulus MODOK series. This won’t be Patton’s first rodeo, having written issues for DC, MArvel and Dark Horse before. The series will run for four issues wil art by Scott Hepburn, with Cully Hamner, Skottie Young, and Doaly providing covers for MODOK: Head Games #1. The comic is about quote “MODOK is the ruthless and brilliant leader of the terrorist organization AIM, outsmarting heroes and outmaneuvering his cutthroat colleagues gunning for his position,” it continues. “But when he begins to be haunted by memories of a family he never had, it leaves him unsure if he is losing his freakishly-large mind, or if perhaps there is a lot more to this enormous mind… or if there is something more sinister behind these visions.” Issue one comes out on December second.

Avengers Endgame is not the end of Thor’s story, neith will Thor Love and Thunder be.Chris Hesmworth has confirmed that he will be Thor a while longer telling Poland’s Elle Man quote “Are you crazy ?! I’m not going into any retirement period,” said Hemsworth. “Thor is way too young for that. I’m only 1500 years old! It is definitely not a film that I say goodbye to this brand. At least I hope so.” unquote Thor Love and Thunder is due in theaters on February 11, 2022. Hopefully the pandemic will be done by then

The X-men comic spinoff Children of the Atom has a new release date. The comic from Vita Ayala And Bernard Chang was delayed due to the pandemic. In a statement Marvel announced quote “The mystery surrounding CHILDREN OF THE ATOM will finally be answered when the previously announced series by writer Vita Ayala and artist Bernard Chang debuts this January. As the latest title to explore the new era of mutantkind following Jonathan Hickman’s House of X, CHILDREN OF THE ATOM will introduce a brand-new team of young X-Men characters. Inspired by their favorite mutants, these gifted youngsters will keep both the X-Men and fans guessing about who they are and where they came from. More than just mere sidekicks, the cast of CHILDREN OF THE ATOM will have a major impact on the world of the X-Men when they burst onto the scene next year!” unquote

December will see the debut of Marvel Action: Origins #1 A new monthly series from IDW Publishing, The series will be illustrated by Lanna Souvanny and each issue will tell the origin stories of one villain and one hero. The series will be written by Christopher Eliopoulos and illustrated by Lanna Souvanny. In the announcement Christopher said quote”Creating a gateway for young readers to learn more about the amazing characters of the Marvel Universe is a dream job,” says Eliopoulos in the Marvel Action: Origins announcement. “In this series, readers are going to learn about the emotions and inner thoughts of these heroes and villains while learning about values and character. It’s a series that shows the character behind the characters!” unquote

Disney Plus’ She Hulk series has found its Jenifer Walters/She Hulk. They’ve hired Emmy award winner Tatiana Maslany, known best for Orphan Black to play the cousin of Bruce Banner, who gets Gamma irradiated powers after getting a blood transfusion from Bruce to save her life. Fortunately, she remains intelligent when she hulks out. Kat Coiro will be directing episodes of the series with Jessica Gao serving as writer and showrunner.

Other tv shows in the Disney Plus Marvel line up include Wandavision, which will arrive later this year, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Ms. Marvel, Loki and Moon Knight.

We begin Geek News tonight with a moment of good news, Keeping up with the Kardashians will be ending in 2021. Our long national nightmare is over…anyway…

Paramount Animation has acquired the rights to the Image Comics title Stray Dogs and has hired Game Night writer Mark Perez to write and Gary Dauberman to produce the adaptation described as quote “Silence of the Lambs meets Lady and the Tramp.” Don’t bother looking on shelves for the comic, Image hasn’t released the comic yet. The comic comes from Tony Fleecs and Trish Forstner, known for their work on IDW’s My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. A true horror story…

Sony has pulled Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s animated movie Connected a month before it was due to be released. The description of the movie is quote “Sony Pictures Animation’s Connected is an original animated comedy from director Mike Rianda (Gravity Falls) and producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Lego Movie), about an everyday family’s struggle to relate while technology rises up around the world! When Katie Mitchell (voiced by Abbi Jacobson), a creative outsider, is accepted into the film school of her dreams, her plans to meet “her people” at college are upended when her nature-loving dad Rick (voiced by Danny McBride) determines the whole family should drive Katie to school together and bond as a family one last time.”

“Katie and Rick are joined by the rest of the family, including Katie’s wildly positive mom Linda (voiced by Maya Rudolph), her quirky little brother Aaron (voiced by Mike Rianda), and the family’s delightfully chubby pug Monchi for the ultimate family road trip. Suddenly, the Mitchells’ plans are interrupted by a tech uprising: all around the world, the electronic devices people love – from phones, to appliances, to an innovative new line of personal robots – decide it’s time to take over. With the help of two friendly malfunctioning robots, the Mitchells will have to get past their problems and work together to save each other and the world!” unquote No word on if it will get a new release date or will just be sent out on Video On Demand.

Jim Henson’s Labyrinth movie is getting a one shot from Boom! Studios. The prestige miniseries will use an oversized art format. Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: Masquerade comics out this December. Here’s the details quote: You’re invited to the ball of the season! But all is not as it seems with the guests of Jareth’s famous Masquerade, as one of the partygoers slowly awakens to the reality of her topsy-turvy existence in the Goblin Kingdom after Sarah’s escape from the ball. As this mysterious participant puts together the pieces of who she is and where she is, her discoveries could unravel the very fabric of this fantasy world!

2020 has taken a lot from us and now it’s taken one of my favorite shows, Adult Swim announced that it has canceled The Venture Bros after seven seasons. Jackson Publik confirmed the terrible new via twitter saying quote

“Unfortunately, it’s true: ‘Venture Bros.’ has been canceled. We got the highly disappointing news a few months ago, while we were writing what would have been season 8. We thank you, our amazing fans, for 17 years of your kind (and patient) attention. And, as always, we love you. Unquote However there might be a ray of hope in this dark cloud, Variety spoke with Adult Swim who said that they were looking for a way to continue the story with Jackson and Doc Hammer. So maybe an online only show? Say on HBO Max? Please?

Star Wars

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Daisy Ridley claims that being in Star Wars may have hurt her career, but it’s not all bad saying quote “It was so sad to finish [Star Wars],” Ridley explained. “When the film was released, I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ It was such a huge chapter. And, weirdly, the past few months of not having much… Obviously now it’s really nice to be working, but not having much [at the time] I feel like I processed the last five years. To be forced to slow down, it was good mentally for me because [Star Wars was] a big thing in my life.”

“Weirdly, at the beginning of the year nothing was coming through,” Ridley continued. “I was like, ‘Aww! No one wants to employ me.’ …There were actually loads of things that I auditioned for at the beginning of the year and didn’t get any of them. I had that moment of ‘Oh my god!’ and then just thought ‘everything in its right time.'” unquote You see there, even though she thought that Star Wars might be a hindrance to her career, she has a positive mental attitude toward it, and it’s pt like she’s hurting for money. She has work on the board now, such as the adaptation of Chaos Walking with TOm Holland and voice work in Asteroid Hunters and The Inventor, she is also been cast to star in the fantasy drama Kolma and the World War II biopic A Woman of No Importance.

Well while we wait for a new movie or two, we can always play on Batuu thanks to The Sims 4. Electronic Arts and Maxis have announced their next expansion will be The Sims 4 Star Wars Journey to Batuu. The expansion pack will allow players to explore Batuu, interact with Star Wars characters like Rey and the Resistance or Kylo Ren an The First Order, completing missions will unlock new clothing and decoration options and allow players to make their own droids. and see the sights like Ogas cantina and what would be the Smugglers Run ride in the real world. . The Sims Executive producer and GM Lyndsay Perason said in a press release quote “With The Sims, we’ve always strived to create content that takes players’ imaginations beyond their limits to tell fun and unique stories in the game, and with The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu, they’ll be able to take their Sims on an adventure to the edge of the galaxy,” “We’re such big Star Wars fans, and set out to create an authentic and immersive Star Wars experience for players that also embodies the self-expression and deep storytelling possibilities with The Sims.” unquote The game will be out on September eighth on PC, Playstation four and Xbox one and retail for $19.99. Kinda a surprisingly low amount, I was kinda expecting a higher, more gougingly amount.

Speaking of games, at Gamescom 2020 developer TT Games and publisher Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment revealed a first look at the gameplay for Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, they also revealed that the game won’t be out for next year until spring 2021. It’s coming out for PS4, Xbox one, PC and Switch

The Mandalorian is headed back to Disney Plus for season two on October thirtieth and Carl Weathers’ Greef Kraga is back. Carl Weathers tweeted about it. With the simple message Greef Karga is back! #BePeace

Star Trek

Hey CBSViacom, George Takei still wants to make a Sulu series. In an interview with Star Trek dot com, he responded to the question about if they should do a Sulu series next with quoteGood idea. As a matter of fact, in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Sulu got his own captaincy. The first scene is a shot of this huge, magnificent starship called the Excelsior, and then it zooms in on the bridge, and there’s a brand new Captain seated confidently at that center chair, elegantly sipping his cup of green tea: Captain Sulu. There’s this huge explosion in the galaxy, and the sound waves come rippling over and turn the ship into turmoil, and I shoot shields and the drama begins. That’s a nuclear explosion on the Klingon nuclear planet.

At the critical point when we’re at the peak of drama, and Kirk is about to be blown up by the Klingons, to the rescue comes Captain Sulu with his Excelsior. He says, “Target that explosion and fire,” and then blows the Klingons to smithereens, thus saving the life and career of Captain Kirk. At the end, as all classic Star Trek episodes end, on the bridge of the Enterprise, Captain Kirk looks at the view screen ahead of him, and the giant image of Captain Sulu. And he stands up and says, essentially, “Thank you for saving my ass,” and Sulu looks down and says, “Good to see you in action one more time, Captain,” and he roars off.

Scotty and McCoy are looking at the big ship Excelsior and, McCoy says, “Wow, it’s a great ship,” and Scotty chimes in, “Aye, but not so big of a Captain, I think.” That’s a Captain Sulu movie — it shouldn’t have been subtitled The Undiscovered Country. It should be ‘Captain Sulu To The Rescue’. It’s the best of the Star Trek movies. Unquote I think they could do it as a limited series with Sulu looking back at his life as he approaches the end of it. That way he can be the bookend of the episodes with Young Sulu being played by another younger actor.

Well with the pandemic CBS needs shows and CBS All Access has shows to spare. The Ifancy Network is set to air season one of Star trek Discovery beginning on September 24th and 10 PM Estern time. Season Three of the show is set to debut on October fifteenth.

Star Trek TV shows are coming to the Star Trek Fleet COmmand mobile game, Sopely and Viacom CBS Consumer Products announced on Monday that all the Trek shows will show up in the game, before it was just the Kelvin Timeline movies. In Star Trek: Fleet Command players choose their crew, the missions they take on, and the alliances they form. Choices made in-game will impact how new storylines intersect as new content begins to roll out over the coming months.

Now you too can toast to honor like the Klingons do. Wines that rock, has announced that it’s next release of Star Trek themed wines will include a 2018 Klingon Bloodwine Cabernet Sauvignon and a United Federation of Planets Special Reserve 2019 Sauvignon Blanc. Both wines, along with the Chateau Picard Cru Bourgeois and Special Reserve United Federation of Planets Old Vine Zinfandel, are available exclusively at StarTrekWines.com. Wines that Rock even teamed up with the Klingon Assault Group and the Klingon Language Institute to get everything from the design of the bottle, the language and the wine as Klingon as possible. A new Lord of the Rings game is coming to the next Gen Xbox and Playstation consoles as well as the current version of the systems as well as PC and Nintendo Switch. The Lord of the Rings Gollum will be focused on the adventures of Gollum and his life before the Fellowship of the Ring. According to Carsten Fichtelmann, CEO and Co Founder of Daedalic Entertainment quoteThe Lord of the Rings is one of the most epic and renowned stories of all time – it’s an honour for us to have the opportunity to work on our own contribution to this universe,” Carsten Fichtelmann, CEO and Co-Founder of Daedalic Entertainment, said previously. “In Gollum, players will assume the role of one of the most iconic characters in Middle-earth. We tell Gollum’s story from a perspective never seen before, in any storytelling medium, all the while staying true to the legendary books of J.R.R. Tolkien.” Unquote the game is scheduled for 2021.

Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead Prequel and Anime Series in the Works. This is before the movie is even out. Netflix has greenlit the prequel and anime spinoff which will see Dave Bautista, Ana de la Reguera, Tig Notaro, Omari Hardwick and Ella Purnell voice their characters from the movie. The movie, Army of the Dead will see Dave Bautista’s character lead a group of mercenaries who try to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted in a zombie infested Las Vegas, Nevada. The movie should come out some time in 2021.

Leslie Hamilton Freas has passed away. Leslie is the identical twin sister of Terminator star Linda Hamilton. Freas appeared in Terminator 2 Judgement Day as a stunt double for her sister and the cyborg version of Sarah Conner. No word has been released of why she passed away, but she is survived by her 3 children and her siblings Laura, Linda and Fred and her stepbrother Jeffery Payne. She was 63 years old.

Hi and welcome to episode 93 of Multiverse Tonight and welcome to September. Man did the news of Chadwick Boseman passing hit you as hard as it did me. I’m just a few months older than him, but the fact that he persevered in spite of having cancer these past four years is pretty inspiring. I’ll have more on him a little later in the podcast.

Apparently some people are curious as to why the Robin in the new Gotham Knights game is Tim Drake and not another Robin. Comic book dot com asked Gotham Knights creative director Patrick Redding quote “So Tim Drake was our Robin choice right from the start and for reasons that I’m not going to get it to yet, because it does tie into the broader arc of the story, and we will talk about that a little later,” Redding said. “Tim was the right Robin to be the newest Robin for where we’re at, and as well for us, it allowed us to have a teenage Robin who was nevertheless still a physically formidable and physically credible fighter. Even though he has more of a stealth focus and a bit more of a focus in terms of how he’s using his gadgets and using the tricks and detective intuition that he has, we still wanted a Robin that could credibly go through a full evolutionary arc that would end with him being the new Dark Knight of Gotham City.”

“So that for us made a lot of sense, and it’s great because if you’re familiar with the lore and you know your way around the various stories about Tim Drake, it’s not like completely unexplored territory,” Redding said. “People have asked the question of, ‘Where’s Tim going? What’s he turning into?’ People sense that he might be a better detective than Bruce Wayne on some level, but he also has some of Bruce’s other core idiosyncrasies as well and what is that going to evolve into? So for us, it’s really fun, narratively and in terms of his progression. He’s a character who I love thinking about because what kind of urban legend does Tim Drake create about himself when he is on the path to Knighthood?” unquote Gotham Knights will be out in 2021.

Westworld’s Jeffrey Wright, who’s playing Jim Gordan in The Batman, spoke with Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle Show about how this version of Batman will be different from other comics movies. Saying quote “We have an opportunity,” Wright explained. “Comic book films have sucked a lot of oxygen from the cinematic room. But with Batman, we have an opportunity to use all of the trappings of that genre to explore some things in an American city through a lens of crime, corruption that are really grounded and relevant and interesting. So the detective work there is an exploration of Gotham but it also becomes an exploration of a city very much like New York City.” unquote

Actress Javica Leslie is ready to be histories first black Batwoman and the significance isn’t lost on her telling the Hollywood Reporter quote “This really had nothing to do with me and everything to do with my people and with little Black girls.” unquote But she’s not just an actress, but she’s also a lifelong Batman fan. She also says she has the physicality already to play a superhero saying quote “I’m very active in my personal life,” she says, “so being able to allow that to be my work, that’s heaven for me. I do Muay Thai. I do fitness training. I run. Anything that’s active I’m always down for, so this is going to be like playing on the playground every day.” Although she hasn’t been able to get work yet, she’s made good use of her time. Saying quote “I’ve just been taking this little bit of time we have left, exercising, getting back in shape, getting my adrenaline and my momentum back up, enjoying time with family and friends while I can before work starts,” she says. “It’s been a good season, a season of rebuilding and reconnecting with  myself.” unquote

Changes are coming behind the scenes at DC Comics, DC announced that Daniel Cherry has been hired as Senior VP and General Manager of DC Comics, he’ll oversee business affairs editorial, talent services, marketing, sales, brand, and direct-to-consumer content for DC. Cherry isn’t from a comics background but a video game one as has formerly worked for Activision Blizzard as the chief marketing officer of the companies esports division, before that he worked for the New Jersey Devils NHL franchise. Cherry will take care of business while Publisher Jim Lee will, according to DC quote “Lee will bring his unmatched creativity, passion and innate knowledge of the DC characters and canon to the company’s efforts to evolve the brand and create relevance for new audiences around the world,” unquote Think of things like DC Fandome, stuff like that.

The Batman has a problem, or should we say Robert Pattinson has a problem.

Production on the movie has stopped after Robert Pattinson tested positive for Covid19 according to a report citing sources close to the film’s production. Vanity Fair reports that it has confirmed the report through a highly placed source.

DC has announced Batman Day 2020. With a press release quote”DC today unveiled plans for a global Batman Day celebration on September 19, 2020, inviting fans of all ages around the world to participate in a wide range of Batman-themed activities to honor the iconic DC Super Hero. The new Waze Batman theme allows for more than 100 million monthly active Waze users to ride along with Batman and The Riddler from August 31 to October 31. Waze drivers can opt to hear directions in the style of Batman, voiced by Batman: The Animated Series actor Kevin Conroy, as well as select a custom Batmobile icon and Batman mood. Drivers who want a slightly more villainous experience can select The Riddler voice directions (voiced by actor Wally Wingert), mood and custom vehicle. Shazam 2 will start filming in the first quarter of 2021 according to star Zachary Levi, they have to start soon because as he said on the Dan Fogler 4D Xperience quote “They announced that we were gonna do a sequel pretty much right after we premiered. They knew we were tracking well enough, they were happy enough with the numbers,” “So they have been steadily and earnestly working on the script for the sequel and I think Q1 of next year is the idea.”

Variety reports that Sony Pictures TV is working on a live action Silk tv show with Phill Lord and Chris Miller as executive producers. Sony is also looking to get Lauren Moon to write the show, it’s believed that Lauren’s similar heritage to Silk, Korean American will give the show the right insight into Silk’s cultural heritage.

Music Mogul and hip hop recording artist Akon wants to build a city based on Wakanda. The artist announced plans via social media that he is a third of the way to building the six billion dollars he needs to make it happen. The city would be in the west African country of Senegal. On the website for the project it says about Akon City quote “The developed economy aims to adapt future development. The current evolution required a flexible infrastructure to accommodate new real estate development. The fast pace of global changes, economic progress, Poverty, and technology race, continuously causing Senegal to face various new challenges,” “AKONCITY will play a vital role in the quest for solutions to these challenges. The knowledge we generate and the professionals we train are expected, and quite rightly, to help in providing local solutions as well as a critical component of human development.”

Usually I save the sad news for the end of the broadcast, but this one hit kinda hard. Tonight we remember Actor Chadwick Boseman who passed away after a four year long battle with colon cancer. I think what hit everyone hard was not only was no one really aware of the colon cancer, but that he’s had stage three cancer since 2016. Which means that while he was filming Black Panther, he was in the midst of this.

Let’s start at the beginning, Chadwick Boseman was born in South Carolina on November twenty ninth, 1976. He grew up and went to Howard University in Washington DC and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts for directing. Interestingly enough, one of his teachers was actress Phalicia Rashad. He got his first tv role in 2003 in an episode of Third Watch and he also was a recurring character on All My Children that year, but after voicing concerns about the racist stereotyping in the scripts, he was fired, ironically Michael B Jordan, his futute Black Panther co star would take over the role. He would also appear in Law & Order, CSI NY, ER, Castle, and Fringe. His first movie role was in 2008’s The Express The Ernie Davis Story. In 2013, he was cast as Jackie Robinson in the biopic 42. He also starred in Draft Day and another biopic role in Get on Up, this time as James Brown. In 2016, he got to become a superhero as Black Panther in Captain America Civil War, before he got to star in Black Panther though he played future supreme court justice Thurgood Marshall in the biopic Marshall, which he also co produced. In 2018 and 2019, he played Black Panther in the Black Panther and Avengers Infinity War and the sequel Avengers Endgame. After that he starred and produced 21 bridges and was cast in the Spike Lee Netflix series Da 5 Bloods. His final projects are the movie Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Marvel’s What If?. He was just a few months younger than me. He was 43. So if you’re about 45 and older, check with your doctor, Let’s make cancer go away. Semi retired WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio is getting his own cartoon show on Cartoon Network. At the 2020 PixelAtlFestival the following description was given quote “Rey Mysterio will tell the story of one of the most iconic luchador, a figure admired by all and star of the ring, but he will also delve into a great secret: unimaginable forces threaten our world and he will be a fundamental part of that fight. When their number one fan discovers this secret, together they will immerse themselves in a world where the excitement and adrenaline of wrestling coexists with mystery, mythology, history, magic and supernatural beings.” quote During the panel ReyRey said about the project quote “After 35 years of career and multiple achievements, I was still missing something. I always wanted an animated series with the character of Rey Mysterio and when the Hermanos Calavera presented their idea to me, I was immediately captivated. Working with Cartoon Network has been incredible, I can’t think of anyone better than this group to make this project a reality.”

Archie Comics flagship title, Archie is taking a break ending a streak that lasted seventy eight years. The most recent issue Archie number 713 went on sale back on July twenty ninth and so far no new issues have been announced or solicited marking the first time since 1942 that no new issues have come out. Newsarama reports that this may be caused by the coronavirus pandemic disrupting things. So I guess we’ll just wait and see.

IDW Publishing has a new publisher, the company has announced that former Disney Publishing Worldwide executive editor nachie Marsham will be taking the reigns of the company after previous publisher, Jud Meyers was fired back in August.

Netflix has announced that the new season of Carmen Sandiego, season three will drop on the service on October first. The series second season ending left things wide open for season three.

Nintendo in a new Nintendo Direct announced a celebration of Super Mario’s 35 anniversary. They are releasing Super Mario 3D allstars, a collection of the 3d mario games Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy that will be available from September eighteenth until March 2021. There will be a special 35 player version of Super Mario bros that will be available from October first to the end of March. Also coming in February of 2021 will be Super Mario 3D World Plus Bowsers Fury for the Switch. There will also be Mario Kart Live Home Circuit which allows you to play Mario Kart in real life, the release of Super Mario All Stars on the Nintendo Switch Online and the Game and Watch Super Mario Bros, a fresh take on the classic Game & watch systems of the past. There will also be special items at the Nintendo NY store and store.nintendo.com as well as special events in Super Mario Maker 2, Splatoon 2 Animal Crossing New Horizons and Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

And as we close out the news tonight, we should note the passing of DC Comics artist and cartoon storyboarder Jim Janes. Jim worked on DC Comics in the early eighties including fifteen issues of Legion of Super-heroes and he storyboarded such animated shows as RoboCop: Alpha Commando, Extreme Ghostbusters, Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd century, Exosquad, the animated adaptation of The Karate Kid and 1987’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. , Swamp Thing, Batman: The Animated Series, The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man: The Animated Series and X-Men: The Animated Series. That’s an impressive set of credentials. He was 72 years old.

Star Wars

Disney’s Rogue One prequel series has a co-star for Diego Luna, Adria Arjona has joined the Disney Plus series. Arjona is known for Netflix’s 6 Underground and will be in Sony’s Morbius movie. The series still has yet to be granted a title.

And while we’re on the subject of Disney Plus Star Wars series, According to making star wars dot com, production sources familiar with the Obi-wan series production have indicated that the series will start filming next month with exterior shots filmed somewhere in Southern California.

Maybe production is being sped up because of Ewan McGregor’s divorce settlement. According to various sources, The actor has agreed to split his royalties from all the movies and tv shows he made before May 2017 with this ex-wife, Eve Mavrakis. He will also be handing her alimony to the tune of 35, 868 a month, and 14, 934 a month in child support. He will also be giving her five of his cars, their LA home, and half a million dollars in cash. Ouch.

This Christmas, Disney Plus is gifting us with a new Star Wars Holiday Special, this time instead of a goofy live-action one it will be The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special. The forty-five minute show will feature the animated Legos in the spirit of the original 1978 special. According to executive producer Josh Rimes quote “We wanted to give a wink and a nod to the original,” “It’s a celebration of the saga. A lot of characters will be interacting with different characters and perhaps even different versions of themselves at different ages.” unquote The story will involve Rey and BB-8 heading out on a quest to quote “gain a deeper knowledge of the Force, but their visit to a mysterious Jedi Temple sends them careening through time and space.” unquote The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special will be released on November seventeenth on Disney Plus.

The Clone Wars might be over but there’s still more to be told in audiobook form. The animated cast members are providing their voices to the audiobook edition of Star Wars The Clone Wars Stories of Light and Dark anthology. Returning to reprising their roles are Corey Burton (Cad Bane and Count Dooku), Nika Futterman (Asajj Ventress), Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker), Catherine Taber (Padmé Amidala), James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), and Sam Witwer (Maul). The book has ten stories retelling episodes from Clone Wars and a new Nightsisters story. The book goes on sale on August twenty-fifth.

Star Trek

If you’re in the mood for more Picard, there are plenty of tie ins to go and things to buy. First off is the Picard season one soundtrack on oldfashioned vinyl.. The limited-edition release is pressed on two 140 gram ‘Transparent Green W/ Splatter’ vinyl platters, and features printed inner sleeves and a gatefold jacket. The vinyl release comes out on October 9th and can be bought for $32.98. There will also be a 2021 calendar so you can mark the time till next season. And the show is coming to Blu-ray, it arrives on October sixth. In November, we get the book Star Trek The Wisdom of Jean-Luc Picard from Simon & Shusters Adams Press and edited by Chip Carter. The book has 208 pages and will be out on November tenth.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds will be a different format than Picard and Discovery, one that’s more familiar to older Trek fans. Episodic. Alex Kurtzman participating in the Deadline Emmy Contenders panel updated everyone about the new series taking place on Pike’s Enterprise quote I think Strange New Worlds, under the guidance of Henry Myers and Akiva Goldsman, it’s going to be a return in a way to TOS [Star Trek: The Original Series]. We are going to do stand-alone episodes. There will be emotional serialization. There will be two-parters. There will be larger plot arcs. But it really is back to the model of alien-of-the-week, planet-of-the-week, challenge-on-the-ship-of-the-week. With these characters pre-Kirk’s Enterprise. I think what people responded so much to in all three characters is this kind of relentless optimism that they have. And that they are at the young phase of their careers. unquote, He also spoke about Pike keeping his optimism despite having knowledge of his fate learned during his time on Discovery. Quote That Pike, who has experienced this extraordinary trauma, which he is famous for. It is how he knows how he is going to die. The idea is, how does a character who knows how he is going to die live optimistically from that point on and lead a ship? It’s a great question. I have never seen a show where a character knew that already. You have to have an inherent optimism in your world view in order to say, “I am going to get up every morning knowing how it is going to end for me.” And still, lead everybody to be the best versions of themselves. Unquote

Alex Kurtzman in an interview with Gold Derby noted that writing is ahead of schedule on the Trek Productions at the moment. The Discovery writer’s room has already started on season four of the series and that Strange New Worlds is scheduled to begin production next year. He told them quote “We’ve been running all of our writers’ rooms on Zoom, and the silver lining is that we’ve been actually been able to get quite ahead on the scripts for upcoming seasons of Discovery, and Picard, and Strange New Worlds, which is going to be shooting next year, and Section 31.” unquote He also talked about how the pandemic slowed post-production on Discovery, including having the musicians recording their instruments individually and having Jeff Russo having to mix it all together. Season Three of Discovery starts on October fifteenth.

Next year might see more Trek and a new name for CBS All Access. A new profile on Financial Times about ViacomCBS Chairperson Shari Redstone reports that the media conglomerate has a shortlist for a new super streamer and the leading contender is Paramount Plus. The apparent motivation for rebranding CBS All Access is that management believes that the CBS name skews older and that the Paramount name might have a broader appeal. After all, they did rebrand the SpikeTV channel into the Paramount Network.

David Tennant, during a Reddit AMA session, said that he would like to have a part in the Star Trek Universe. This wouldn’t be too far to go for Tennant after all he’s been Doctor Who, he’s been a part of the Marvel universe on Jessica Jones and a part of the Harry Potter universe as well. Maybe they can make him a part of Discovery, Picard, Strange New Worlds, or a part of Section 31. Anywhere they could put him, he’d probably be great.

Nichelle Nichols’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to help sue her former caretaker who they allege financially abused her while pretending to protect her interests. The US District Court in the Southern District of New York dismissed his claims back in September, it was appealed to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and they have come back affirming that CBS and Netflix did not infringe on the work of Mister Abdin because the works aren’t similar enough and that the use of Tardigrades aren’t enough saying quote “Abdin’s space-traveling tardigrade is an unprotectable idea because it is a generalized expression of a scientific fact—namely, the known ability of a tardigrade to survive in space,” the court said. “By permitting Abdin to exclusively own the idea of a space-traveling tardigrade, this Court would improperly withdraw that idea from the public domain and stifle creativity naturally flowing from the scientific fact that tardigrades can survive the vacuum of space.” The court also found that the elements of the Tardigrade game were uncopyrightable stock themes from scifi and that his human characters weren’t similar enough to the Discovery ones. https://news.bloomberglaw.com/ip-law/cbs-beats-copyright-claims-over-star-trek-discovery

Oscar-nominated director Garth Davis will be directing the second sequel to Tron. The movie has been languishing in development hell since 2017 with Jared Leto attached to star. Mr. Leto on Instagram posted quote “I’m struck with such gratitude for the opportunity to bring this movie to life, especially as both the original video game and the film affected me so deeply as a young child,” “The fact that I get to be a part of this new chapter is mind-blowing.” unquote Tron Legacy made 400 million and enough interest to make a sequel. No expected release date yet.

Netflix has bought a trilogy of Fear Street movies from Disney. The movies are based on the RL Stine teen horror series. The movies are already complete having been produced by Fox and originally intended for release this past June, but they were pulled due to the pandemic. The Fear Street books are based in a fictional Ohio city. No word on when they will be released.

The Nutty Professor is getting a reboot, Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, William Sherak and Paul Neinstein have landed the rights to it, they previously rebooted the Scream franchise. No studio is attached to it yet.

Hey, there’s actually a box office to report on. Let’s start at number 9. Back to the Future with 140,000. 8 is Jurassic Park with 180,000 7. Peninsula with 210,000. 6. Tonight we remember actor Ben Cross, who passed away after a battle with cancer on August eighteenth from cancer. He will best be known for movies like 1981’s Chariots of Fire, 1995’s First Knight, 2004’s Exorcist The Beginning, and his role as Sarek in 2009’s Star Trek. His television credits include The short-lived remake of Dark Shadows in 1991, appearances on the 80’s Twilight Zone, The Ray Bradbury Theater, Tales from The Crypt, Poltergeist The Legacy and Twelve Monkeys. He is survived by his wife and two children from his first marriage. He was 72.

The Batman had a trailer and it was revealed that the movie is only 30 percent shot, the film is scheduled for 2021.

A trailer was shown for Wonder Woman 84.

A trailer was shown for Justice League The Snyder Cut and it looked damn good. But be prepared for a long show it will be put up on HBO MAX in four hourlong installments.

The new game Gotham Knights was revealed, it’s a co-op adventure game starring Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and Red Hood fighting to protect Gotham City after the apparent death of Batman. They will face the Court of Owls and other members from the Dark Knights’ rogue gallery.

The Flash movie was revealed. With Barry Allen getting a new Batman made costume and confirmation that The Flash will be time traveling in order to change the DC Multiverse. They also hinted at revisiting classic DC Movies with concept art showing the flash teaming up with Michael Keaton’s Batman.

A Suicide Squad game was already reveled from Rocksteady Studios. It’s another co-op game and will be out in 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Black Adam was teased with Dwayne Johnson revealing that along with Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher we will see the Justice Society of America, no casting news year but the cast will include Hawkman, Cyclone and Doctor Fate.

Conversely, Shazam 2’s panel revealed that it will be called Shazam Fury of the Gods and will be out in November of 2022.

Aquaman w was teased only with a note from James Wan that it was quote “a little bit more serious, a little bit more relevant to the world that we’re living in today.” unquote

Sandman on Netflix’s panel had Neil Gaiman saying that the show will be faithful to the books, but slightly looser and that the pandemic has allowed for more work on the scripts.

Titans season three will see Jason Todd becoming the Red Hood and will see Barbara Gordon becoming GCPD commissioner and Dr. Jonathan Crane’s Scarecrow making an appearance on the show.

The Milestone imprint is making a return

All isn’t sunshine and lollipops at DC WarnerMedia has laid off dozens from the company including editor-in-chief Bob Harris, senior VP of publishing strategy and support services Hank Kanalz, VP of marketing and creative services Jonah Weiland, VP global publishing initiatives and digital strategy Bobbie Chase, senior story editor Brian Cunningham, and executive editor Mark Doyle, who oversaw the rollout of the Black Label graphic novels. Jim Lee remains the CCO. According to sources about a third of the editors are getting laid off. Insiders have also told the Hollywood reporter that a majority of the staff at DC Universe are gone as well, seeming to indicate that the streaming service might not be long for this world. Also gone is DC Direct, the in house merchandising and collectibles arm, ending its 22-year long history of making green lantern rings and batarangs.

In the interim DC Comics has named Marie Javins and Michele Wells as Interim Editors in Chief. Javins was in charge of digital strategy at DC and Wells was head of the Young Adult Imprint. In an interview about that change with the Holly wood Reporter, DC Publisher Jim Lee said quote “We thought it would be a great pairing to bring them together to help draft and organize the content we’re doing along these lines,” Lee said. “Across digital, across global, we want to make sure we have diversity and inclusivity and making it in a way that we have authenticity to the storytelling that we’re doing.

“It’s really about consolidating all of our efforts and having every editors involved in all these directives and also organizing, broadly speaking, in content that is for kids 6 to 11 and then 12 to 45,” he continued. “It’s about consolidating format and oversight to a smaller, more concentrated editorial group.”. Unquote He also confirmed that comics at DC aren’t dead and that they are very much in the business of making comics. They will just be making less comics saying quote …we will be reducing the size of the slate. But it’s about looking at everything and looking at the bottom 20 percent, 25 percent of the line that wasn’t breaking even or was losing money. It’s about more punch for the pound, so to speak, and increasing the margins of the books that we are doing. It was about aligning the books to the franchise brand content we’ve developed and making sure that every book we put out, we put out for a reason. unQuote He also disputed the rumor that DC will be only selling trades and that Marvel will start publishing DC’s comics.

The Joker’s new sidekick Punchline is getting her own origin story one-shot. Punchline number one arrives in November. The issue is written by Batman writer and Punchline co-creator James Tynion IV and Sam Johns and has art from Mirka Andolfo with a cover by Yasmine Putri and a variant cover by Frank Cho. The story follows the consequences of her role in the joker war. Quote Punchline is the story of Alexis Kaye, and how she’ll take Leslie Thompkins, Harper Row, and Cullen Row on a harrowing journey that reveals her radicalization to The Joker’s ideology. Unquote It’ll be out on November tenth.

This December DC Comics is releasing Through the ’80s The end of eras hardcover and it will include the entire text of Alan Moore’s unproduced Twilight of the Superheroes proposal… Twilight of the Superheroes was something that Moore proposed before he left DC in 87. Twilight would have restored the Multiverse and would have taken place in a future ruled by superhero dynasties and chronicled the final battle between heroes, villains and aliens. The hardcover will also feature issues from various 80’s DC comics as well as essays. It comes out on December fifteenth and costs 49.99.

Swamp Thing will premiere on The CW on October sixth with a 90-minute premiere. It was canceled by DC Universe, but don’t expect it to get a second season on The CW. CW President Mark Pedowitz said in May quote “At the moment, it’s just the one season,” “I do not know if it would come back. Obviously that would be a discussion for Warner Bros. and The CW. But at this time, Swamp Thing is just the episodes we have.” unquote, In other words, big ratings might be enough to get a second season. So if you really want it, show up for it.

Marvel

Marvel Comics is exiting the Age of Khonshu and is welcoming us to Enter The Phoenix. Here’s the official teaser quote “Keep an eye on Jason Aaron and Javier Garron’s latest Avengers epic, THE AGE OF KHONSHU for startling revelations about Moon Knight amidst a thunderous clash with a disgruntled god bent on reshaping the world in his image! Then, gear up for the grand return of the cosmic chaos-bringer of life and death in Jason Aaron and Javier Garron’s ENTER THE PHOENIX, on sale in December!”

Marvel Comics is making a new anthology series, Wolverine: Black, White, and Blood. The series will see stores drawn in Black and White with just a splash of Red. Launching in November, each issue has three stories taking place at various points in our heroes life. Episode one will have a story with Gerry Duggan and Adam Kubert taking place at Weapon X, Matthew Rosenberg and Joshua Cassara show Wolverine undercover with Nick Fury and Declan Shalvey gets Logan into a deadly trap. Future issues of Wolverine: Black, White & Blood include stories by Vita Ayala, Chris Claremont, Saladin Ahmed, Donny Cates, Ed Brisson, Kelly Thompson, Greg Land, Salvador Larroca, Kev Walker, Chris Bachalo, Leonard Kirk, and others. The series starts this November.

Theaters are opening back up and it looks like new movies like THe New Mutants and Tenet will finally hit the big screen, but is it such a good idea to go? Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson doesn’t think so. He took to twitter to push for everyone to stay home instead quote “Don’t go see Tenet or any other movie in theater. There, I said it,” unquote. I think he might be right, I frankly won’t be going unless it’s a matinee with very very few people or if we can get this under control with a vaccine.

New York Comicon is …yep…you guessed it going virtual. The online event will take place from October 8th to the 11th via their Youtube channel, the first panels to be announced are Star Trek American Gods and Hulu/FX. Fans will get to interact with the panels via Youtube live chat and ReedPops Discord channel. Reed Pop will also have a virtual marketplace for autographs, videos, and professional workshops.

Brandon Lee’s costume from The Crow has sold at auction for 25,000 according to Kruse GWS Auctions. The distressed black shirt, leather pants, and trench coat were worn in multiple scenes in the 1994 classic. The star died after being accidentally shot during the making of the film.

Apple and Google have both banned Fortnite from their respective app stores. Publisher Epic Games is now suing both Apple and Google. In a statement to Deadline dot com Apple said quote “Epic enabled a feature in its app which was not reviewed or approved by Apple, and they did so with the express intent of violating the App Store guidelines,” Apple said in a statement provided to Deadline. “We will make every effort to work with Epic to resolve these violations so they can return Fortnite to the App Store.” unquote Apparently this is over Epic allowing people to skip the Apple and Google stores and allow players to pay Epic directly.

Welcome to the SciFi edition of Multiverse Tonight episode 88. I’m on vacation from my day job this week, gonna try to catch up on some books and movies that have been piling up. One thing I haven’t been missing is Star Trek Lower Decks. I loved the first episode, very funny, full of Star Trek references. This show should be taken as a love letter to the history of Star Trek. Stop thinking about it as a serious show, it’s not it’s a comedy, it’s not here to be an allegory or a morality tale, think of it as the dish of ice cream. I am looking forward to the entire season, well done CBS. Let’s get on with the news.

Star Wars

The Mandalorian novel from Del Rely has been delayed. The novel by Adam Christopher will now be out in the fall of 2021.

Spekind of the Mandalorian, Wwarner Herzog plans on taking a break from acting to get back to his own films. Speaking with the BFI at Home series on Youtube. He said “I have done a lot more acting recently, and I have to review it, because it takes away too much attention from the real things that I’m doing.” unquote. His documentary Fireball has been acquired by Apple TV Plus.

The new Star wars game show Star Wars Jedi temple Challenge host Ahmed Best speaking with the Coffee with Kenobi podcast revealed the origins of his character on the show Kelleran Beq saying quote “In my idea of Kelleran Beq, the reason why he has a purple lightsaber and the purple kyber crystal is because, in my mind, purple lightsaber wielders have an intimate relationship with both the Light Side and the Dark Side,” Best revealed to Coffee With Kenobi. “It takes a special Jedi to be able to balance those two.”

He added, “‘Kelleran’ is a name that I came up with because I like this idea of names being derivatives. ‘Wilhelm’ automatically turns into ‘William’ after generations and generations and accents change and regions change and I wanted to find a way to tie the sequels and the prequels together in Kelleran Beq. And I played a character, because of Anthony Daniels, in [Star Wars:] Attack of the Clones named ‘Achk Med-Beq,’ which was so duly named, and ‘Kelleran,’ to me, sounds like the origins of the name ‘Kylo Ren,’ so I wanted to have Kelleran be the root name to Kylo Ren and as you go down generations, you get to Kylo Ren.” unquote Okay.

The comic book Star Wars Doctor Aphra, won the award for Outstanding Comic Book at the GLAAD Awards, it beat out BOOM!’s The Avant-Guards and Lumberjanes, Comixology’s Liebestrasse, DC Comics’ Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass, First Second’s Bloom and Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me, Image’s Crowded and The Wicked + The Divine, and Marvel’s Runaways. Doctor Aphra was created for the Star Wars Darth Vader comic. The Doctor is a morally amibquous acchelogist and a lesbian.

PS5 and Xbox Series X players will be getting a Star Wars game. Star Wars Squadron is coming to the next gen consoles, however it will not have any upgrades over it’s planned versions on PS4 and Xbox One. A bit of science news now, usually we talk of Star Trek inspiring scientific advances, this time it’s Luke Skywalker’s prosthetic hand that has inspired researchers at the National University of Singapore to bring the feeling of touch to electronic skin. According to scientists at the university they have built electronic skin that can be used by robots and prosthetic limbs that recreate the sense of touch. The e-skin known as Asynchronous Coded electronic Skin consists of a network of sensors that are connected via a single electrical conductor and can give the robots or humans with a prosthetic limb the ability to feel pain, temperature, shape and texture. Assistant professor Benjamin Tee in an interview with Reuters said quote “When you lose your sense of touch, you essentially become numb … and prosthetic users face that problem,”

“So by recreating an artificial version of the skin, for their prosthetic devices, they can hold a hand and feel the warmth and feel that it is soft, how hard are they holding the hand.” unquote This would be a big boost to amputees, very nice.

Star Trek

Breaking News! Nickelodeon and CBS Television Studios announced that award-winning director and producer Ben Hibon (Codehunters) would direct, co-executive produce, and act as the creative lead of Nickelodeon’s upcoming animated series Star Trek: Prodigy. The CG-animated series follows a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning, and salvation.

Paramount Pictures has decided to not go ahead with Noah Hawley’s Star Trek movie. If you’ll remember Hawley’s movie was given the greenlight by the studio.. The studio had also been working on a movie with Quentin tarantino, no word on the fate of that one. No word on the next movie in the franchise or if they’ll just stick to tv shows for now.

Congratulations to Sonequa Martin Green on the birth of her daughter Saraiyah Chaunte Green. Sonequa shared the news on Instagram with photos of her and her husband Kenric Green. On Instagram, Martin-Green writes, “We welcomed our sweet baby girl last Sunday, July 19th at 8:32 in the morning. It was a profoundly beautiful home birth, and now both of our children have been born in the water. We never felt that anything was missing, but now that she’s here, we feel a perfect sense of completeness. Her name is Saraiyah Chaunté Green, she’s got Mommy’s initials and Mommy’s middle name. She’s utterly perfect, just like her brother. Thanks be to Yeshua, she’s the final piece to our Love-given puzzle.” unquote.

Courteney Cox is returning to the role of Gale Weathers for the upcoming Scream reboot. Spyglass Media Group and Paramount made the announcement and they also said filming should start later this year in Wilmington, NC. The movie is being directed by directors Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett with a script written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Courtney is joined by David Arquette.

Christopher Eccleston will be reprising the role of the Ninth Doctor for the Audio series Doctor Who The Ninth Doctor Adventures from Big Finish Productions and BBC Studios. The audio series will be released as four separate box sets each with three episodes The first will be released in May 2021. No plot details at this time. Eccleston in a statement said quote “After 15 years, it will be exciting to revisit the Ninth Doctor’s world, bringing back to life a character I love playing” No word on any plot details.Each volume will run about two hundred forty minutes and have a price point of 19.99 with the entire series will cost 88 dollars.

Tonight we say goodbye to the legendary pitchman for Quaker Oats and actor Wilford Brimley. Anthony Wilford Brimley was born in Salt Lake City on September twenty seventh 1934. He dropped out of high scheel at the age of fourteen and worked as a cowboy. He joined the Marines during the Korean War and served in the Aleutian Islands for three years. He also later worked as a bodyguard for Howard Hughes, a ranch hand, wrangler and a blacksmith. While blacksmithing for film and television, at the encouragement of his friend actor Robert Duvall, he started acting during the 1960’s as an extra and stunt man in Westerns like Bandolero and True Grit. His big break came when he was cast on The 70’s tv series The Waltons showing up in eight episodes. From there he starred in films such as The China Syndrome, The Thing, Cocoon, Remo Williams The Adventure Begins, Cocoon The Return, The firm among others. His television roles included appearances on Kung Fu, the tv film Ewoks: The Battle for Endor, Walker Texas Ranger and Seinfeld. He also was a frequent star in commercials for Quaker Oats, Liberty Medical and the American Diabetes Association. Wilford was diagnosed with type II diabetes in 1979. Wilford came down with a kidney condition in June of 2020 and died on August first in a hospital in St George Utah, he was eighty five.

Welcome to episode 89 of Multiverse Tonight. I’m your host Thomas Townley. If you’re listening to this the week it comes out, well I’m on vacation. I was supposed to be at Planet Comicon this week, but well I’ve covered that in the last episode. Frankly, I’m just happy to have an extended period of time off from work, I’m starting to get annoyed having to answer the same questions over and over again. Where is blank? Do you have blank? Etcetera, Etcetera.

However, it’s nice to be able to sit back in my easy chair and read a book or watch a movie or show that I haven’t gotten to. Well let’s see what we’ve got in the news.

The Flash movie will be a time travel film according to Director Andy Muschettii, it’s been proposed that the movie will be a soft reboot of the DC Universe movie franchise. Muschietti in a radio interview said quote “It is a story of time travel: Flash travels back to try to save his mother,” Muschietti said. “It is a spectacular action movie but it has a big heart.” unquote So this makes me wonder how his version will differ from the animated version of the same story? Any ideas?

Warner Bros and DC Comics have announced a new animated movie with a twist. Batman: Death in the Family based on the 1988 comic book event which featured a call in to decide if Robin number 2, Jason Todd lived or died at the hands of the Joker, he, well, died. This new version will be updated for the present with an interactive Blu-ray that will allow the viewer to make the famous choice using their remote control. Also on the Blu-ray will be four new animated shorts featuring Sgt. Rock, Adam Strange, Death and The Phantom Stranger. The Blu0ray will be out on October thirteenth for 24.98.

The Harley Quinn animated series is now out on HBO Max, both seasons one and two have been put up on the new streaming service so fans who haven’t had the opportunity to see it can now watch it. This is leading to speculation about the demise of the DC Universe app, but so far no indications about it’s collapse have been forthcoming.

A little business news here, Could EA be hinting at an acquisition of WB Games? The Warner Bros owned game studio has been rumored to have a for sale sign on it. The hint came during EA’s quarterly investor call when EA CGO Blake Jorgensen said that quote it;s more interested than ever” unquote at acquiring studios and that any future acquisitions would include big assets. If EA bought Warner Games it would get IP like Mortal Combat and license to make games based on LEGO, Harry Potter , Game of Thrones and the DC Universe. Other rumored parties interested in acquiring WB Games are Activision, Take Two Interactive and Microsoft. If such a deal goes down, I’ll let you know.

Wonder Woman 2 hasn’t even been able to get into theaters but Wonder Woman 3 is already being thought of. Last month director Patty Jenkins said that she’d paused on development of the third film. However in an interview with German publication Geek, Ms. Jenkins revealed that Wonder Woman number 3 will most likely be her final run with the character. Saying quote “[Wonder Woman 1984] gave me a chance to do a lot of things that I couldn’t accommodate in the first movie.” . “I was so happy to tell the Wonder Woman origin story. It was almost her birth, but we really haven’t seen what she is capable of. It is exciting for me to show her at the peak of her strength. But it is also very important that she fights an internal struggle: she is a Goddess and tries to help humanity. She is not only someone who fights evil, she tries to show bad people how to improve. It’s an interesting dilemma.”

“The next one is probably my last Wonder Woman movie,” , “so I have to put everything I want to show there. We have to think carefully.”

Lucifer season five comes to Netflix on August twenty first and it’s about to get a little meta. Accoring to TVLine, Episode Three deals with a murder taking place on the set of a Warner Bros tv show about a quote devilish hunk and his police detective paramour.

DC Comics in puting the Wildstorm series Gen13 back in print.

The series was a massive hit back in the 90s and will now be avaliable in a new Deluxe edition hardcover coming next year. The new trade will be called Gen13: Starting over and will be out in May of 2021 and will be a reprinting of the previous collected editin from 2002, but with new trade dress and cover.

DC Fandome, DC’s virtual comic con has revealed its lineup of hosts, presenters and special guests. Names include Adam Brody, Amy Smart, Brandon Vietti, Brenton Thwaites, Brett Dalton, Chris Pine, Christopher Priest, Cress Williams, Conor Leslie, Dan Jurgens, Damon Lindelof, Danica McKellar, David F. Sandberg, Emanuela Lupacchino, Ezra Miller, Gal Gadot, G. Will The New Mutants ever see the light of day? The film is supposed to be out on August 28th of this year, however promotional materials for the movie from Taiwan are casting some doubt on that being an absolute. The promo’s there changed from August 28th to the always ambiguous Coming Soon.

SOme have wondered if it might just go straight to say Disney Plus, however Director Josh Boone says that’s not an option saying quote “With most movies, you sign contracts that guarantee a theatrical release, so it needs to open to ever go digital in the first place,” Boone says. “We just, too, would like to see people to see it in the theater. But it needs to obviously be at the right time when it’s safe to go back.” unquote. So in other words, it needs to be in theaters first.

Well while we wait for that, production must go on. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has gone back into production in Australia according to a news station in the country. They sent the crew back to work constructing sets for the picture and they reported that the cast has returned as well. The movie was in production when the pandemic hit forcing a halt to the production as well as pushing the release date from February 2021 to May 2021.Shang-Chi will star Simu Liu in the titular role with Tony Leung as The Mandarin and also starring Awkwafina and RFonny Cheng.

Marvel’s new digital game, MArvel Duel has launched in select markets in Thailand, INdonesia, Philippines and Malaysia. The game is a strategy card game where you create a roster of heroes and villains to collect and battle with. “The power to save the Marvel universe is in your hands! Marvel Duel is a fast-paced strategy card game featuring the world’s greatest Super Heroes and Super Villains,” an overview of the game said. “A mysterious evil force has altered the most iconic events of Marvel history. Restore the universe by summoning your favorite characters and outsmarting your opponents with effective strategies! Assemble your deck, save the universe!” unquote However don’t plan on playing it soo, The game was never intended for a global release, so it might be a fame just for those markets.

According to a report from Business Insider, in 2017, Marvel apparently considered taking the Spider-man title of off Miles Morales. Laging sales caused the publisher to explore possible phasing out the common legacy superhero names for it’s younger more diverse characters and replacing them with new code names. According to former Marvel assistant editor Charles Beacham quote “It would have made him less important,” Charles Beacham, a former assistant editor at Marvel who addressed the diversity concerns in the story, said. “He becomes Spider-Man with an asterisk. It takes away the power for kids who relate to this character.” unquote However as you well know, Marvel didn’t go through with it. Good call.

IDW Publisher Jud Meyers has been ouster from his posistion at the head of IDW after only three weeks on the job. Late Friday night, IDW put out a short statement to the press saying that it had quote parted ways with Jud Meyers unquote Before his ousting he had been places on administrative leave and IDW president Jerry Bennington has been acting as publisher in the meantime.

Pixar has announced its next Feature Film, Luca. The movie will take place on the Italian Riviera and feature the coming of age story of a young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer. Here’s the official press release quote Pixar Animation Studios announced today that its next feature film release will be Luca. Directed by Academy Award®️ nominee Enrico Casarosa (La Luna) and produced by Andrea Warren (Lava, Cars 3), Luca is set to open in U.S. theaters June 18, 2021.Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, the original animated feature is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: he is a sea monster from another world just below the water’s surface.

“This is a deeply personal story for me, not only because it’s set on the Italian Riviera where I grew up, but because at the core of this film is a celebration of friendship. Childhood friendships often set the course of who we want to become and it is those bonds that are at the heart of our story in Luca,” director Enrico Casarosa said in a statement. “So in addition to the beauty and charm of the Italian seaside, our film will feature an unforgettable summer adventure that will fundamentally change Luca.”

Luca arrives in theaters on June eighteenth 2021.

Twenty two years after it’s last episode Animaniacs is back. The series debuts on Hulu on Friday November twentieth. There will be thirteen new episodes featuring Yakko, Wakko, Dot and Pinky and the Brain. And remember grownups, it’s not meant for you, but for your kids.

I’d like to close tonight noting the passage of WWE Superstar Kamala. Who has passed away at the age of seventy this past saturday. New of his passing was broken by the twitter for the Cauliflower Alley Club saying quote The CAC family wishes to extend our sincerest condolences to the family friends and fans the world over upon the news that the legendary James “Kamala” Harris has passed away at the age of 70. Rest in Peace James.” unquote. He made his debut in 1978 and worked for Continental Wrestling Association, Mid-South Wrestling and World Class Championship Wrestling before making his World Wrestling Federation debut in 1984. He worked for the WWF in the late eighties and early nineties and would make sporadic appearances later, usually in gimmick battle royals. His last match was in 2006. His health deteriorated in his later years, high blood pressure and diabetes cost him his legs in 2012. So here’s to you Kamala, the Ugandan Giant.
